Welcome to another Coffee Chat Take! A bite-sized episode designed to feel like a quick voice note from a friend who gets it.

Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on a boundary I reinforced this summer that changed more than just my energy levels.  It changed how I lead in my personal life and in my business.

If you’ve been telling yourself “I’ll get to that later” when it comes to your own needs, this one’s for you.

We’re talking about why I made my health a non-negotiable, what had to shift to make that happen, and how the lessons I’ve learned are directly impacting the way I run my business.

Spoiler: it has everything to do with support, structure, and sustainable growth and nothing to do with doing more.

In this short but powerful episode, I’m showing you how investing in your own well-being isn’t just a personal win, it’s a leadership decision. If you’ve been craving more focus and clarity, but life and business feel too full to start, this is your invitation to reset.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Well, hello again, my friend.
In today's coffee chat, take,I'm going to take you behind the
scenes of something personalthat's been going on in my life,
which has changed the way thatI lead, not just at home but in
my business.
So a few months ago I made adecision to make my health a
priority.
It was no longer optional, ithas become a non-negotiable.

(00:22):
Now it's not that I wascompletely ignoring my health
before, because I was workingout here and there and I was
trying to make better foodchoices.
Most of the time I failed.
But, if I'm being honest, Iwasn't really challenging myself
or holding myself accountable,so I wasn't making the kind of
progress that I wanted.
And it started to show not justin how I looked but in how I

(00:44):
felt.
So one day I was scrollingthrough recent photos on my
phone and let me tell you I hadto get your life together moment
.
You know the time when realitykind of blindside you, and
that's when the light bulb wentoff, that I needed more
accountability, more structureand a challenge.
So I decided it was time for meto get some skin in the game

(01:05):
and I reached out to my formerpersonal trainer and made
arrangements for weekly sessions.
Now I already knew that she wasnot going to take it easy on me
, but that's exactly why Ireached out to her in the first
place, because I didn't wantanother check the box routine.
I wanted results and I wantedaccountability, and I knew I
couldn't get there on my own.
Something else I did wasstarting getting my meals

(01:25):
delivered, and it's not becauseI don't know what to eat, but
it's because I really don't havethe bandwidth to keep planning
and prepping food for myselfevery single week and cooking
for my family.
So when I tried to do that, Iwould fall into ruts.
I got tired of eating the samething and sometimes I would just
skip the meal plan altogether.
So that's another part of thereason why I wasn't succeeding

(01:48):
and why I wasn't feeling my best.
So it was time to take thatdecision-making off my plate,
literally.
And the most important partthat people tend to skip over
with stuff like this I had to goin.
I mean all in mentally, financially and physically.
In.
I mean all in mentally, financially and physically.
This would make spaces for thechoices that I needed to make.

(02:09):
So I knew I had to cut back onsome things, including my wine
and whiskey and if you know me,you know that's a big shift, but
I still have my morning cup ofcoffee.
But I'm really serious aboutthis next chapter and the
results that I want, and I knowit requires some trade-offs.
But now here's where thebusiness lesson comes in.
The whole journey for me up tothis point reminded me of

(02:33):
something I tell my clients allthe time Growth doesn't come
from hustle or kind of trying.
It comes from changing yourmindset, investing in the right
support and building thestructure you need to succeed.
So you don't get results justbecause you want them.
You get results when you setyour priority, decide what
you're no longer available forand then build systems and

(02:56):
boundaries that protect thatdecision.
So right now I do personaltraining once a week, but I
still have three to four otherworkout days that I have to do
on my own.
So I have to make time forthose workouts and that means
protecting space in my schedulefor them.
And with the summer heat wavethat we've been having in my
area, I've been trying to get upearly to knock out my cardio

(03:18):
before the sun turns everythinginto a sauna, because if I wait
until later, I know I probablywon't do it and let me be honest
, sometimes I succeed andsometimes I don't.
But here's what's been sounexpected on this journey the
more I honor this boundary, themore everything else feels clear
.
I'm sharper, I'm more focused,I feel better, I look better and

(03:42):
, because of that, I lead better.
So let me ask you this, fromone woman building something
meaningful to another what'ssomething you keep saying you'll
get to later, but already knowwould make a huge difference in
your life or your business ifyou made it a priority right now
, where are you settling forgood enough, when what you

(04:03):
really need is support, accountability and systems that
help you follow through?
Because the truth is the samemindset that helps you show up
for yourself personally.
It's the same one that helpsyou create real, sustainable
growth in your business.
So, whether it's creating ahealthier lifestyle or cleaning

(04:26):
up the back end of your business, the formula is the same Decide
what matters, invest in theright support, reinforce your
boundaries and, if this has youthinking about your next step in
your business or your personallife and what it would look like
to finally have the structureyou want and support you need so

(04:47):
you can stop spinning yourwheels, please DM me on
Instagram at the underscoreShannon Baker, and let's talk
about it.
I can help you figure out whatthe right next step could be.
Or if you're ready to undertakeyour own personal journey to a
healthier lifestyle, let's talkabout that too, because, no
matter what, I know you've gotgoals, so let's make sure your

(05:09):
life and your business are builtto support them.
So that's the end of today'sCoffee Chat Tea.
Remember no pressure, justprogress.
So I'll see you next time.
