SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
If your motivation's
been up and down lately, this is
(00:03):
your reminder that you don'thave to wait until January or
Monday even to get back ontrack.
Because the truth is,consistency doesn't happen when
everything calms down.
It happens when you decide toestablish your routine again.
So in this episode, I'm sharinghow you can stay consistent when
life gets messy, why structure, not motivation, creates
momentum, and how you can resetyour focus so you can finish the
(00:26):
year or the week feeling calm, clear, and in control.
Welcome to the Mind Your TimePodcast.
I'm Shannon Baker, your coffeeloving host and business
operations strategist.
If you're a service providerwho's great at what you do, but
stuck with misfit clients, messyonboarding or draining work
days, this show is for you.
Each week I share bothstrategies and practical
(00:48):
insights rooted in my power andmotion framework to help you
streamline your back end, protect your time, and lead your
client experience withconfidence.
Because skills got you clients, but systems will take you
further.
So grab your cup of coffee oryour favorite drink and let's
dive in.
Have you ever noticed how easyit is to fall out of your
routine once things start movingfast in life?
(01:11):
You end up spending so much timecatching up and trying to keep
clients happy that you'rereacting to whatever's on your
calendar and self-care and yoursystems end up buried in the
background.
I get it, I've been there.
There was a time when I'd starteach week with the best of
intentions, but by Wednesday, Iwas off track and I would blame
(01:31):
my schedule or tell myself, I'lljust try again next week.
But all that did was create morechaos.
And I wasn't failing because Ilacked discipline, but I was
struggling because I lackedconsistency in my routine.
That realization was a gamechanger for me, and it's
actually what led to the powerand motion framework that I use
(01:53):
today.
Now, in the previous episode, Italked about step three of my
power and motion framework, which is work on the plan.
And I talked about how you canbuild structure around your
goals and create a 90-day planthat gives you clarity.
But structure alone, it's notenough.
(02:13):
The next step in the frameworkis execute consistently.
And this is where that structureturns into intentional actions,
which lead to progress.
And that's what we're going totalk about today.
How to actually execute yourplan so your systems keep
working for you, even whenthings start to get messy in
real life.
(02:33):
Now, if you've listened to myconversation with Imani Guy, you
heard what it looks like whenclarity and consistency finally
come together in real life.
Her story is the perfect exampleof what I'm talking about today.
I'm gonna put a link to that inthe show notes.
It's how to go from scramblingto strategic.
(02:54):
And that way you can check itout if you haven't already
listened to it.
But Imani's journey started theway a lot of ours do.
She was doing great work for herclients, but behind the scenes,
everything was scattered.
She was missing systems and shelacked a routine, so she was
constantly bouncing back andforth between client work,
(03:17):
various projects, and she justcouldn't keep up.
But once she joined the MindYour Time Society, we started
working through the Power andEmotion Framework together.
And step by step, she startedbuilding structure in her
business that supported hergoals.
But the biggest transformationfor Imani came when she reached
step four, execute consistently, which is what we're talking
(03:40):
about today.
And instead of trying tooverhaul everything in her
business at once, Imani startedshowing up in small, consistent
ways.
She committed to her weeklyreset, which I've talked about
before.
She blocked time for reflectionand then she made adjustments
along the way.
(04:00):
And when she used the boundaryreset scorecard, it helped her
stay aware of what was slippingthat she didn't really notice.
Within a few weeks, though, shewasn't just more productive, she
was more aligned and intentionalwith her time.
Her system started supportingher instead of stressing her
out.
(04:20):
And that's what consistencyreally looks like.
It's not about doing more, it'sabout being aligned and being
intentional in what you'redoing, focusing on the things
that matter most.
So let's talk about how you canbuild that same consistency in
your business.
Well, I've got three lessons foryou.
(04:42):
And the first one is consistencyis built through structure, not
motivation.
Because motivation is going tocome and go.
But when you have structure, that keeps things steady because
you know what to do next.
And it eliminates the mentalclutter which leads to burnout.
(05:02):
That's why systems matter somuch.
They create predictable rhythmsand efficiency that save you
from decision fatigue.
Think of it like you're settingthe tempo for your business.
That means you don't have tohustle hard or work harder.
You just have to stay on beat.
Lesson two reflection createsconsistency.
(05:27):
And most of us skip this part.
We'll plan, we start to execute, but then we don't pause to look
back and see what is or isn'tworking.
That's why I teach every clientand every member in the MIT
society to establish a routinethat includes a weekly reset.
(05:48):
Now, if you don't know what thatis, let me tell you, at the
beginning or end of each week, you take 30 minutes to ask
yourself three questions.
What worked, what didn't, andwhat needs to change to improve
my results.
And please note, this isn'tabout you judging yourself.
It's about you being aware ofwhat's going on.
(06:09):
When you pause and reflect, youcreate space for you to make
adjustments before chaos startsto take over.
That leads to lesson three.
Boundaries protect yourconsistency.
It is absolutely impossible foryou to be consistent when you're
overextended.
So every time you say yes tosomething outside your
(06:32):
boundaries that drains you ortakes time, you're taking time
and energy away from what'sgoing to keep you grounded and
moving forward.
And this is where a lot ofbusiness owners get stuck.
They build systems, but thenthey forget to protect their
time and space to let them dotheir jobs.
(06:52):
The boundary reset scorecard isgoing to help you notice those
cracks before they become crags.
Think of this.
Maybe you've been working lateagain and you've skipped your
review days for a couple ofweeks, or you're letting
clients' tests spill over intowhat should be your CEO time,
(07:14):
which is taking care of theadministrative things in your
business.
Without you pausing andreflecting, you're not going to
notice that that's happening.
So your boundaries can't protectyou.
So I want you to take a minuteand think about where you've
been slipping lately.
And this is not for you to beatyourself up, but again, it's to
(07:34):
help you get that insight thatyou need so you can make
adjustments.
What part of your routine needsattention right now to protect
your time and energy?
That's where this week's quickwin challenge comes in.
And remember, this is not aboutfixing everything at once, it's
about choosing one thing thathelps you feel a little more in
(07:56):
control right now.
So take 10 minutes, complete theboundary reset scorecard.
A link to it is in the shownotes.
And I want you to be honestabout where your boundaries are
slipping.
Then choose one small reset thatyou can commit to this week.
(08:17):
You don't have to make drasticchanges.
I want you to just picksomething simple that you can
take action on immediately andbe consistent with it.
That could be logging off at aset time three days this week.
Maybe it's doing a financialcheck-in on Friday.
Or it could be clearing yourinbox before the weekend so that
(08:40):
you can fully unplug.
Remember, the goal is neverperfection, it's about progress
that protects your peace.
Consistency is not about doingmore, it's about being
intentional with what you do andcreating calm momentum.
So let's recap what we'vecovered today.
One, consistency is builtthrough structure, not
(09:04):
motivation alone.
Two, reflecting creates a rhythmor routine that helps you stay
aligned and aware of what you'redoing.
And three, boundaries protectyour consistency and your energy
so that you can take intentionalaction and continue to make
(09:26):
progress.
Because you see, when clarityand consistency come together
like they did for Imani, youstop operating in survival mode
and you start leading yourbusiness with confidence.
So I want you to take a deepbreath and acknowledge the fact
(09:48):
that you don't have to waituntil January to do a reset.
You can start today.
And if you're ready to find yourrhythm again, grab the boundary
reset scorecard.
Use it to check where yourboundaries are slipping.
Then join us inside the Min YourTime Society to build the
(10:11):
structure your business needs, and you'll get accountability so
that you stay consistent evenwhen life gets messy.
You are just one reset away fromsteady progress, but you have to
take the first step.
Thanks for tuning in today.
(10:32):
