become yours too.

to reset your vision, clean upthe back end of your business
and finish this year strong, andI've got a resource that's
going to make this easier foryou.
Welcome to the Mind your Timepodcast.
I'm Shannon Baker, your coffeeloving host and business
(00:41):
operations strategist.

Each episode contains bothstrategies and practical
insights rooted in my power andmotion framework to help you
streamline your operations, reclaim your time and grow
without burnout.
So, whether you're juststarting out or scaling the six
figures and beyond, I'll helpyou simplify, set boundaries and
(01:02):
build a business that works foryou.
So grab a cup of coffee or yourfavorite beverage and let's
dive in.
Let me start by talking about acommon challenge that I see
among entrepreneurs, and that'swhether they've just started
bringing in clients are on theverge of hitting six figures or
are just beyond that milestoneor are just beyond that
(01:24):
milestone.
The commonality is they tend tojump from one thing to the next
, never really giving anythingenough time to work.
There's always pressure to trynew strategies and we have a
tendency to chase what'strending.
And that can be overwhelming, and I know firsthand because
I've been there chasing shinyobjects, chasing money and
(01:46):
feeling like I was missing outon something if I didn't hop on
every opportunity and new ideathat came my way.
So, exactly how do you decidewhat truly deserves your time
and energy and how do you filterout the noise and focus on what
actually matters so that yourbusiness can grow Well, for me,
(02:07):
the answer came during a seasonof reflection and resetting.
That's when I decided to makeSeptember 1st my January.
Now, I had heard the ideabefore I mean for years actually
but when I started doing itmyself, it finally stuck and it
felt like the perfect time topause and redirect my energy,
(02:32):
not only to finish the yearstrong, but to reset my goals,
look at my systems and makeimprovements where needed and
focus in a way that it reallysupported the lifestyle that I
was craving and that one shiftmade an immediate difference.
And here's what I didn'trealize until I made that shift,
(02:53):
I'd been waiting for a new yearfor everything, waiting to get
a new planner, waiting to createa new strategy, waiting to fix
what really needed to be rebuiltin the business from the inside
out.
So, instead of scrambling toset goals and restart and I say
that in quotes in January, whenmy energy was lower it's cold
(03:15):
outside, my schedule would bepretty full I started to use the
fall to build momentum.
To use the fall to buildmomentum.
So I started treating Septemberlike the start of Q1 for my
business.
So, while everyone else waswinding down for the holidays, I
was focused on laying thefoundation for the business that
(03:37):
I wanted to walk into onJanuary, the 1st.
That shift helped me prioritizethe systems, content and
strategy that I needed in placeby December 31st.
And because I typically reviewthings in my business every
month and that's you know what'sworking, what isn't, what needs
(04:00):
to go, what needs improvement Ididn't need, and still don't
need, that big year in reviewthat you hear about all the time
.
This shift in my process madeplanning feel light and focused,
instead of it stressing me out.
And let's be real once theholidays hit, your schedule gets
(04:23):
chaotic and if you celebrate, that means you're dealing with
family, maybe travel, and thereare a lot of distractions.
So that is not the time tostart something new.
But when I started hitting thereset button in September,
changing the way I do things, that means I have a plan that I
can trust and then I canactually stick to it no matter
(04:45):
what's going on around me.
This mindset shift gave meclarity, confidence and, most
importantly, breathing room inmy schedule.
It also gave me space to lookat what was working and what
wasn't.
And that's when I realized thatsomething big had to change.
Because when I started myvirtual assistant business, it
grew really fast and, honestly,my business wasn't prepared for
(05:07):
that.
I didn't have the systems inplace to sustain it.
Now, on the outside, thingslook great.
I had a number of clients, Iwas making really good money and
I had actually scaled back myschedule for my full-time job to
work part-time, and that wasmostly remote.
But I wasn't happy and Iquickly learned that all money
(05:27):
isn't good money.
I mean, have you ever looked atyour business and thought well,
on paper this should feel good,so why doesn't it Like what's
wrong?
So as I took a closer look at mybusiness, I realized it wasn't
aligned with my values andneither was the way it impacted
my family, because I didn't havesystems in place, I didn't have
real boundaries and Iconstantly found myself
(05:50):
frustrated dealing withinefficiencies, not only in my
client's business, but in my own, and that led to me having to
redo work, and that just piledonto the frustration.
I really felt like I was alwaysputting out fires instead of
having space to be proactive, and that's not how I wanted to
(06:11):
live and it definitely was notthe way I wanted my business to
operate.
So you know what happened.
Eventually, I hit a breakingpoint.
So by 2019, I was working mybusiness full time, but I also,
after looking at everything, made the decision to shut down
my virtual assistant business, and it was doing quite well
(06:34):
financially.
So let me tell you that decisionwas not easy.
I was really scared to walkaway from the money I was making
, but I knew that I needed totake a step back and figure out
what kind of business I reallywanted to build, because, again,
it was also having a negativeimpact on my family.
Now, honestly, I contemplatedgiving up on being an
(06:55):
entrepreneur altogether.
So the first thing I did wasend all of my contracts and I
went back to work part-time togive me space to recover,
breathe and reevaluate because, let's face it, we still have
bills to pay and that season washard, but it gave me the room I
needed to really reflect onsome big questions.
(07:16):
So you should think about theseas well, like what kind of life
do you actually want and whatkind of business do you want to
lead you there?
Looking back on this wholeexperience, I do realize that
burning it all down was the bestdecision that I could have made
(07:38):
.
But now, as I look back on itand I want you to think about
this as well If you've ever feltthis way or you're feeling this
way right now, I am in no waytelling you to burn down
everything in your business, because, honestly, if I could
(07:59):
roll back the hands of time anddo things differently, I
definitely would change the wayI handled a few things.
And I'm just being transparentbecause at the time, it really
felt like taking a step back forme was failure.
But I needed that time to getclear on my values, my vision
(08:20):
and what I truly wanted mybusiness to look like.
I wanted a business that wouldsupport my lifestyle and allow
me to be present with my family.
So, during this time taking thishuge step, it was really scary,
and so was the next step that Itook, which was investing in
myself and my business.
(08:41):
I invested in private coaching, which helped me realize my true
passion is helpingpurpose-driven women implement
systems that align with theirvalues, reduce overwhelm and
allow them to grow theirbusinesses without burning out.
So I made it my mission notjust to help other
purpose-driven women build abusiness, but to help them build
(09:02):
one that allows them to livetheir legacy in real time,
because, personally, I believeyou shouldn't just have to wait
for someday to happen to enjoythe hard work that you're
putting in.
You should be able to enjoy thelife you're working hard to
create now as you build it.
And the business that I hadbeen running before it didn't
(09:24):
reflect this mission or myvalues.
So I had to pivot.
I went back to work part time,as I said, and I slowly started
building out a new businessmodel, and it took time and
patience, and it wasn't alwayseasy.
There were actually momentswhen I questioned whether I just
should get a full-time job andjust give up on being a
(09:50):
full-time entrepreneur.
But after about a year thatpart-time job something else
happened.
That steady paycheck became asecurity blanket and I realized
over time then I was scared toleave that steady paycheck
behind.
I mean because, let's face it,being an entrepreneur it's not
(10:10):
easy.
But I know that I'm anentrepreneur at heart, so giving
up wasn't an option.
So I had a black coffee chatwith myself.
I decided that I needed tostick to the plan to reach my
goals, I needed to be patientand I needed to trust the
process.
(10:30):
So after about two years ofvery focused professional
development, I refined myservices, I got clear on my
goals and I was able to makethat leap back into
entrepreneurship.
But I had to take small stepsalong the journey to get there.
This process led to the birth ofthe Shannon Baker LLC and
(10:52):
ultimately TSB ManagementSolutions, and during that time
I also rebranded this podcast, which honestly, it was a labor
of love.
And I'll be transparent andtell you that behind the scenes
I was in hustle mode because Iwas determined to reach my goal
and at the time that was toleave my day job.
Now I am in no way glamorizinghustle, but sometimes you have
(11:16):
to enter what I like to call apush season, and the difference
is that when that hustle isrooted in alignment, it feels
like purpose and not panic, andit has an expiration date.
But this time around, I had mysix core systems in place and
(11:37):
personally I feel every businessneeds to have these in place.
But I also had a clear vision.
I created a business model thatwas aligned with my values and
I was determined I wasn't goingto work just for the sake of
money.
I was focused on buildingsomething that would give me the
freedom I wanted while being ina position to help others do
(11:58):
the same.
And I must say I'm trulyenjoying full-time
entrepreneurship, and it's beena wild ride, but I'm enjoying
the journey.
Entrepreneurship, and it's beena wild ride, but I'm enjoying
the journey.
So if you're feelingoverwhelmed or you're unsure of
your next step, then I get it.
I've been there and I know it'shard to make big decisions when
you're stuck in that space.
So if you've been bookingclients but everything behind
(12:19):
the scenes still feels messy, then this episode is especially
for you.
And let me be clear If you lovewhat you're doing, you love
your clients, but everything isincreasingly draining to you.
It's not you, it's probably thebackend of your business, and
you don't have to burneverything down to fix it.
You just need to make time tobuild smarter workflows, to
(12:40):
protect your energy and elevatethe client experience that you
provide.
So I'm gonna share three tipswith you that help me get
unstuck and build a businessthat aligns with my values, and
I know they can help you do thesame, and I actually revisit
these every year before Q4because it gives me the clarity
I need to stay focused or getback on track so that I can
(13:01):
finish the year strong.
So reset step number one is youneed to clarify your mission and
your vision, because this isyour North Star.
Whether you're brand new, you're just feeling stuck or off
track in your business, gettingclear on your mission and your
vision gives every decision youmake a purpose.
Your mission tells people whatyou do, who you help and why it
(13:22):
matters, and your vision showsyou where you're headed and how
life will look when you getthere.
Without these, you're going tochase everything and you're
going to end up feeling likenothing is working.
So here's a quick win challengefor you.
I want you to take 30 minutesthis week to refresh your
mission.
If it doesn't light you up whenyou read it out loud, then it's
(13:46):
not ready yet and you've gotsome work to do.
Now reset step number two.
I want you to choose one 90 daygoal.
This is how I have all of myclients operate.
I want you to forget aboutjuggling five projects.
Focus creates progress.
(14:06):
So set one clear, realisticgoal that will actually move
your business forward.
Sidebar that goal of leaving mypart-time job.
I worked on that same goal foryears before I achieved it, so
you can do that too Now.
Inside of the Mighty SocietySystems Insanity Suite Starter
(14:27):
Stack, there's a 90-day goalsetting workbook and a marketing
matrix analyzer that helpsmembers simplify goal setting
and prioritize so they cancreate an action plan.
These tools help them map outwhat they're offering, identify
where their revenue is going tocome from and what it will take
for them to get there.
(14:47):
You have the chance to getaccess to these same tools
inside of the membership, but Ireally want you to visualize
your success, because this isn'tjust about hitting the goal.
I want you to think about howyour life will feel when you
actually reach your goal.
So here is a mindset shift foryou Stop asking if it's possible
(15:13):
and start asking what wouldneed to be true for this to be
my reality.
And if you want access to thoseresources I mentioned, feel
free to go to theshannonbakercomforward slash membership.
Take a look and join us inside.
Now reset step number three youhave to audit your systems.
(15:36):
This is where clarity meetscapacity, because no matter how
solid your plan is, if your backend is a hot mess, you're going
to struggle to follow throughon your goal and more than
likely you're going to give up.
And I've been there, so I know.
And until I built my six coresystems, everything felt like
chaos.
Now I'm not going to go intothose systems because I've
(15:59):
talked about them all togetherand individually on the podcast,
so I'll link to those in theshow notes.
But there's also another toolthat I use quarterly now and
that really helped me get aclear snapshot of what was
working in my business and whatwasn't.
It's the back office powerchecklist, and you can complete
(16:20):
this in under 10 minutes.
If your business is growing butyour energy is tanking, then
this is the next step that youneed to take if you do nothing
else after this episode.
I want you to grab a copy ofthat checklist.
There's a link to it in theshow notes or you can go to
theshannonbakercom forward slashchecklist.
(16:42):
Focus on completing it this weekand look for the one system
that you can fix first.
Not all six of them, just one, because whether you're a team of
one or you're leading a growingteam, these six systems are
what allow your business to runsmoothly behind the scenes, even
(17:05):
when life gets busy.
And if you're looking at thatlist, thinking well, sounds good
, but I wouldn't even know whereto start.
Even after that, don't worry, the checklist is designed to
show you exactly where the gapsare, so you can fix them in
order of priority Again, not allat once.
Now you may also be thinkingokay, well, I know I need better
(17:29):
systems, but I still have noidea where to start.
No worries, that's exactly whata power in motion jumpstart
session is for.
It's a focused 60 minutestrategy call designed to help
you stop spinning your wheelsand finally make progress and
getting the back end of yourbusiness together.
And that's even if yourcalendar is already full,
(17:51):
because you don't need more time.
You just need the right supportvia systems.
Now we're not throwingtemplates at the wall or
following a one-size-fits-allblueprint I don't believe in any
of that.
But during this strategysession we really focus on
getting clear on what's working, what's missing and where you
(18:12):
can get quick relief withputting systems in place so you
can feel the difference rightaway.
And if you've been contemplatingjoining the founder circle
inside of the Mighty SocietySystem Insanity Suite but you
haven't taken that leap yet, this is a nudge for you to go
ahead and do that, because theaction plan that you walk away
(18:33):
with on this call helps you hitthe ground running when you join
the membership.
Helps you hit the groundrunning when you join the
membership.
And I created this because Iknow one of the biggest reasons
women hesitate to join amembership is because they worry
they won't use it or, worse, they won't know how to use it in
a way that fits their uniquebusiness.
But after that power and motionjumpstart session, you will
(18:56):
know exactly what to work on,what resources to use and where
to plug in to get the resultsyou want, and that's without
overwhelm.
So whether you're just gettingstarted, you're totally booked
up with client work or you'retrying to rebuild after burnout,
this is your season to reset, realign and reclaim your time,
(19:18):
and you don't have to do italone.
Let me help you.
So let's do a quick recap beforewe wrap up today.
One I want you to review, orcreate, your mission and your
vision, because this is yourNorth Star.
So, whether you're brand new, you're feeling off track or you
just need to refresh yourmission and your vision
(19:38):
statement.
You're feeling off track or youjust need to refresh your
mission and your visionstatement.
I need you to do it becausethis helps you make aligned
decisions and say no todistractions that don't support
your bigger picture.
So step two or reset tip twowas to set one clear goal that
you're going to focus on for atleast the next 90 days.
No more juggling multiplepriorities.
Choose one goal that moves yourbusiness forward and break it
(20:01):
down into doable steps that youcan actually achieve, because
progress comes from small stepsthat are focused, not doing more
.
Then I need you to visualizewhat success looks like when
it's achieved.
Don't just write your goal down.
I want you to see it, make itreal.
(20:22):
Imagine how you'll feel, whatyour schedule will look like and
what freedom will be present inyour life when this goal has
become your reality.
And then the third reset tip wasto audit your systems using the
back office power checklist, because goals without systems
(20:43):
lead to burnout.
So grab that checklist and useit to identify what's holding
you back behind the scenes, sothat you can clean it up and
create space to grow.
So here's the big question aswe wind this up Will you
download the back office powerchecklist and start the reset on
your own, or will you book aPower In Motion Jumpstart
(21:06):
Session so that we can gothrough that checklist together
and create a 30-day action planso that you can start rebuilding
with strategy clarity andwithout the guesswork Because,
let's be honest, most of usdon't need more time we need a
clear, custom plan and the rightsystem to support it.
So if you've been hesitantabout joining the founder circle
(21:27):
because you're worried youwon't know how to use it, then
that's exactly where thatjumpstart session will help you.
When you start there, you walkinto the membership with a
roadmap made just for you, sothat you can hit the ground
running and don't have to wasteany time.
No matter which one you decide, make a decision, choose the one
that fits the capacity that youhave right now and then move
(21:50):
forward.
You'll find everything that wetalked about today linked right
in the show notes, including alink to the back office power
checklist and for you to book apower in motion jumpstart
session.
My friend, this isn't abouthustle, it's about structure and
it's your time to move forwardwith confidence, clarity and
(22:11):
support.
So go ahead and take that firststep.
Thanks for hanging out with methis week.
If you've made it this far,it's clear you're ready to shake
things up and take control ofyour business, and I'm here for
it.
But remember, just listening tothis episode won't get you
better results.
I challenge you to break themold and take action today.
Your next move let's connect, head to the show notes and book
(22:35):

help you streamline your backoffice and reclaim your time.
If you're not ready for thatstep yet, no worries.
Connect with me on Instagram,at the underscore Shannon Baker

And if you're loving thepodcast, leaving a review is a
quick way to show your supportand help more entrepreneurs like
(22:58):
you break free from the chaos.
Listening is great, but actioncreates transformation.
Go, make it happen and untilnext time, keep calm and
streamline.
