(00:00):
Welcome back to the Mindful Sagittarian podcast.
I'm Sally and I have a returningguest who I am always more than
happy to talk to you because sheis just so Sagittarian.
So welcome back, Deanna. Hi, it's so wonderful to be back
whizzers, witches and golden snitches.
I love that you said your tagline.
I love my tagline. I love your tagline.
(00:21):
I mean, I've been in the Harry Potter community for so long,
I'm pretty sure I heard it like somewhere in a discord or in a
fan fiction and I was like, I embodied it.
It just felt so me to say it. Liz, you're the most Harry
Potter ish, which I know. It's great.
Which brings us to what we're going to talk about today.
And we're going to be talking about fandom in spirituality.
(00:44):
So that could mean how our spirit guides and our spirit
teams communicate with us through showing us pop culture
references that we understand. Because let's be honest, there's
not like this in Air Translator. That just kind of happens real
time. That is A1 size fits all for
everyone. I might know about something
that Deanna doesn't know about, and vice versa, Deanna might
(01:06):
understand a reference that I have no fucking idea what it is.
Also, fandom in pop culture and witchcraft in like mainstream
pop culture. So a little bit of everything, a
little bit chaotic, a little bitof a dumpster fire.
But you know what? You have two sages back on the
podcast again and two December Sagittarians of that.
(01:27):
So good luck. Put on your seat belt and get
ready to talk about some stuff. Listen, before this started, I
told Sally I was like my cancer moon and cancer rising need to
prepare for this. And she told them to calm the
fuck down. I'm really like right here,
trying to like, well, this anxiety of like, Oh my God, what
am I going to say? Well, we're going to be talking
(01:48):
about Harry Potter a lot, so I think you'll be fine.
Harry Potter and Agatha all along.
I think we're safe. So just to kind of start off a
little light. Oh, you also write fan fiction.
Oh my God. Way to call me out like that,
yes. I do, I mean you have a whole
other social for that, so I thought it was safe to talk
about, no. No, it's OK.
(02:09):
It's OK. We can talk about it.
It's just it's something that I necessarily incorporate into my
craft. It's like a separate like person
for me essentially. Yeah, no.
And I used to write fan fiction too.
I know I wrote in a specific fandom, but I'm like a Draco
Hermione shipper all the way. But you are very familiar with
the Harry Potter universe as well as other fandoms.
(02:31):
So that's why I kind of brought it up.
You bring a unique perspective because you don't just see like,
hey, this was in the movie, thiswas in the book.
It's a you can see other things that could potentially have
happened, which I kind of compared to people who can see
different timelines and different alternative universes
and parallel versus multiverse, whatever.
So I think it gives you kind of an advantage when it comes to
(02:52):
your craft actually. Do you want to maybe talk about
your reading process a little bit?
Because I find that super interesting and it might kind of
lead into and segue into other things.
For sure, I think to kind of start off before I get into like
this is how I channel, which I did talk a little bit last time
on our last talk. But for me, when it started,
(03:14):
because I was a fandom girlie and I was in the tranches, not
just with Harry Potter, but likeother fandoms that like I became
obsessed with before I became a full time witch.
And so when I, when 2020 came around and I was really in the
cusp of designing my identity asa witch and how I wanted my
craft to work and everything like that, I was actually taking
(03:35):
Emily's like our words 101, likebasic beginner course.
And so in that course we were taught how to create something
called a sacred space. And for those of you that are
probably starting out with your journey, you maybe have not
gotten to that point. Let me just define that a little
bit. So a sacred space is just kind
of like in when you're in Theta,it is an area for you to be able
(03:55):
to go to and like communicate with your guys.
It's a space for you to like touch base with your magic, with
your energy, maybe astral, like things like that.
And so Emily described to us that when we are creating the
space, we can start with a foundation that is familiar to
us and just kind of like what brings us joy.
And since we talked about fan fiction back in 2020, I was
(04:20):
super in the height of my like drafting and writing fan fiction
journey. And specifically I was writing a
lot of Harry Potter fan fiction. So immediately I was like, I'm
going to use Hogwarts as my sacred space, that is.
And because I already have a really strong clear cog and I
can very visually like see things in my third eye, like I'm
(04:43):
talking, it's so visual. It's like I'm watching a movie
and almost to the point sometimes if I insert myself
into it, it's like I experiencedit as well.
So it was very easy for me to belike, because, you know, I've
seen the movies a million times.I've read the books, the fan
fiction. I played Hogwarts Legacy.
It was really easy for me to be able to step into something that
(05:06):
like really defined my childhoodand to be able to use it as a
center to like learn and cultivate my magic, communicate
to my guides. And then it grew into I was
talking to other people's guides, like through the space.
And not to brag or anything, butI get a lot of compliments when
other guides and deities come through and they're like, wow,
this place is really impressive because it's a very big and it's
(05:29):
very visual and it's very detailed.
And so when we talk talk about like using the sacred space for
readings and we talk about specifically fandom and getting
those messages and those symbolsusing those little details from
the community, especially if you're a part of that community.
It's a great way for guides to be like, hey, here's the symbol,
what is associated with it for you?
(05:51):
And then to be able to download that message from Spirit and
something that's fun but also consumable.
I can definitely attest to that.My guides were kind of confused
at 1st and then they looked around.
They're like, OK, cool. Because there's places for them
to lurk in the shadows if they don't want to come forward or,
you know, there's plenty of roomto sit because there's room at
(06:12):
the table for everyone. And basically they just go on
this tea party journey with Deanna as Deanna's like, what's
the tea? Let's let's talk about it.
And I am very clairvoyant as well.
So I felt like I was there. And because I'm very familiar
with the Harry Potter fandom, Slytherin by choice, and my
birth, as Deanna calls me the triple Slytherin.
And I think I'm the only one youhad met at that point.
(06:35):
I don't know if that's still true now.
I can't remember. We're going to say it's true.
OK, we're going to say it's truebecause we're just going to make
this effect because I'm just very Slytherin through and
through. Even though I turned my mic blue
today. For those of you watching the
video podcast later in honor of my favorite Ravenclaw.
But yeah, no, it's definitely anexperience.
I had the the pleasure of being able to sit through a reading
(06:58):
with Deanna and it's just it's such an experience really being
able to see everything and literally seeing these
interactions happen, being clairvoyant and seeing facial
expressions and sitting stances and standing like stances
changing and like energy shifting.
It's especially if you are psychic.
It is definitely a fun time. So if you haven't booked with
the NA yet, you should definitely book.
(07:20):
She has a booking special going on right now.
I believe it's the moving sale. I think it's coupon code.
Move over at readings by halliwell.com.
So go check her out. I usually wait to plug at the
end, but I got to do it because it's you well.
Thank you. And I will say, jumping off that
a little bit, not the moving code, but like experience it as
(07:41):
a clairvoyant. I recognize that not everybody
like isn't as in tune with that gift.
And I truly believe that you candevelop any psychic sense if you
want to. But I do narrate everything I
see as it's happening. So it's really, it's chaotic
going with the theme of the podcast with chaos.
It's chaotic, but it's a really good time and I've gotten better
(08:01):
I think at Inarration. So you can.
I use voices and things too, as I can, as I'm physically capable
of so. Now you're having me wanting to
do another reading exchange at some point so I can see what
changed. It's just more dramatic.
I feel like I'm doing a one woman show.
And it's, I love it. You are very animated though, so
(08:22):
it's not hard to listen to you. I'm surprised you don't have a
podcast, to be honest. You're.
Not that good. Whatever your your Cancer moon
and rising are screaming at me right now and you're
Sagittarian's like let me. Out.
I'm very happy just being guest appearances right now.
Maybe we'll explore a podcast inthe future, but I think with the
move right now to Ireland, actually, I'm going to have to
(08:43):
fight my microphone up soon because guess what I bought
yesterday? What did you buy?
My last two boxes for the International news.
My goodness, I'm super excited for you.
I really AM. And I, I feel like I've been a
part of this like moving journey, even though we just met
last September. I feel like I've been a part of
this process this whole time since you started talking about
(09:05):
it. And I'm I'm really excited for
you and I can, like I said, I amgoing to definitely visit you
after you move and get settled, but I just see us going on like
shenanigans around Ireland. I don't know, maybe we'll go
frolic. We'll go frolic in our Hogwarts
robes and call it a day. Go do some magic outside.
All right, so I know that you'revery familiar with Harry Potter,
(09:27):
but also like different fandoms,right?
Do you have any other favorite fandoms that you and your spirit
team kind of like refer back to?Or if your spirit team were to
use a reference from that fandom, you would immediately
just like 2 and two connects. Yes, OK, there.
I definitely I branched out. I have others, I will say I
start with Hogwarts, that's always my GOAT too.
And then if it we have to change, we can change.
(09:48):
But other fandoms I Star Trek was a huge one for me,
especially for those of you thatare in that fandom.
My name is Deanna. I was named after one of the
characters in that franchise. So definitely a huge one.
I've been in and out of the StarWars fandom just because it's
it's not been as welcoming as others.
(10:09):
I don't think I need to elaborate on that.
Avatar the last Airbender. This is very niche, but if
growing up I was really involvedin the Vampire Academy fandom,
cool. I used to write fan fiction in
my notebook during study hall but never made it to the
Internet. I love that.
I also was really involved in the Pirates of the Caravan
fandom, actually around when thethird movie came out.
(10:32):
Like that was so emotional for me branching off of that.
Definitely Disney. A lot of Disney references I do
catch because I wasn't Disney family growing up.
I think those are the major ones.
We got 6 right there. 6 pretty big major ones.
Yeah, those are some pretty big fandoms.
I can definitely relate. Definitely Pirates of the
(10:53):
Caribbean. I mean, I have a very niche
fandom to like Devil Wears Prada, so that's like my, I
guess Vampire Academy equivalentbecause I just, I don't know, I
just want to be Miranda Priestlywhen I grow up.
Just a more grounded version of her.
I'm. Slowly trying to get into more
anime, like that's kind of whereI'm branching out right now.
And just like slowly exploring that just because growing up I
(11:14):
wasn't allowed to watch anime. Like it was very demonized in my
household. Like a lot of my stuff was
censored growing up. But like, it's been fun.
Explore that as an adult and like, connect with a different
art form and then get involved with the fandom community around
that. Yeah, it's like how we weren't
allowed to watch Ren and Stimpy and Beavis and Butthead Daria
growing up. And yeah, just as you get older,
(11:34):
you're just like, why was this such a big deal?
And it's like, wait, that probably would have fucked me up
if I watched, which I watched The Simpsons and all those shows
anyway. But I don't think as a kid you
really look at it like that. You just kind of are like, oh,
cool animation, OK. Because you watch SpongeBob
SquarePants now. And it's like all the
references. That is not a child's cartoon
because it wasn't meant to be. Because adults, they'd be funny
(11:57):
sometimes. Got to get started on the dark
humor early, right? But I imagine some of the bigger
fandoms would be Chronicles of Narnia or Lord of the Rings,
Harry Potter, even dystopian series, Divergent, The Hunger
Games, Twilight we're just talking about.
Twilight. Oh my God, how could I forget
Twilight? Well, and Twilight also started
off as fan fiction, so I love that.
(12:19):
To a spicier series. Or was it the other way around?
No, I think it might be the other way around. 50 Shades of
Grey was Twilight fan fiction. Thank you.
I I was like, I know one of the other, but then again, I don't
know. I like Stephanie Meyer, but what
was that extra book that she released?
I couldn't even like Midnight Sun.
Yeah, I couldn't get through it.So I might have to go back and
(12:40):
read because I was like goodwillyesterday and I found a copy of
Twilight. Actually I found 2 copies of
Twilight and I was like if that's not a sign I need to
reread it again because I'm on new moon right now re watching
Twilight because of you. Thank you.
I mean as someone who's giving this advice as a fandom girlie
not a witch, and has gone back and reread favorite childhood
series like Harry Potter and Twilight, I will say I was
(13:01):
disappointed as an adult. And I kind of like, think like,
why the hell was I obsessed withthis as a teenager?
I know it's like the coming of age thing, right?
And you can kind of compare thatspirituality because it almost
feels like a coming of age againwhen you go through your
spiritual reawakening. And I say reawakening because
it's been there the whole time. It's just you waking up to it.
(13:22):
And I was watching Twilight and every time I hear him say, this
is a skin of a killer, Bella, I just cannot stop laughing.
Literally like 81 of the memberson the Savage Den Discord.
I went to go visit her in Orlando and we went out to go
get tacos down at Gringo's and she was like placing an order
and I turned around and she had those earrings and it said this
(13:44):
is the skin of a this is the skin of a killer Bella with
Edward, I was. Dying.
I think the movies are so bad inthe best way and that's why I
really love the movie. I mean, they still have a lot of
good value. And you know, you're never going
to be able to fit every single detail from a book into a movie,
right? Because you have those Harry
Potter stands who are very much like no movies, look only but
(14:08):
the movies compared to the book.I agree there's a lot more stuff
going on in the books, but Artistically imagined they did a
pretty good job with who they cast and how they went along
with that series. I'm not going to get into this
debate about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the entire
excluded included, excluded included.
I still haven't even gotten through the book.
(14:29):
But for what I read, I was like,I wonder how this stage play is
versus just reading the script because it's really the same
thing. I don't know.
I think sometimes people are toosensitive too.
It's like everything now is a red flag.
Just like not to go completely left field, but like I feel like
living in the US, definitely everything is like not
politically correct, you know what I mean?
(14:49):
Like you could say I like being outside in the sun and then
somebody would find something wrong with that.
Sally, you're going to get me introuble.
I didn't realize we were going to like jump into a fandom
ethics and like what happened togatekeeping and why is it so
mainstream now? I can cut some stuff out.
I don't even know why I'm going going into this.
Either because like I understandwe grew up where fandom and fan
(15:12):
fiction were very taboo and you just didn't talk about it.
And now like that dynamic and how culture has shift around,
especially with the boom of TikTok and book talk and how
it's essentially it's made fandom more accessible.
And with that, that means like, yes, there are social norms
changing, but also there are nowlegal implications that are
(15:33):
being introduced into making fandom accessible.
And a lot of that debate has come around.
I'm not getting into it, I'm just clarifying.
A lot of that debate has come around with how we consume fan
fiction and specifically around binding fan fiction and
specifically around like sellingand make profit off of it.
Which, and again, it shows a lotof this younger generation did
not grow up with the Anne Rice scare and how fan fiction was
(15:55):
almost like made illegal in thiscountry because of it.
Yeah, no, I definitely did not know anything about that.
I just know that fan fiction waskind of an escape for me.
I was writing fan fiction like in the early 2000s.
So this was like 2000 and four, 2005.
And I joined a lot of like RP boards.
And that's that's what consumed my life.
(16:16):
That was my hobby. That was my passion.
That was my escape from reality. You know, I didn't know I was a
witch then. I didn't know I was spiritual
then, other than I was forced togo to church when I didn't want
to go. So it's, I just feel like
fiction and fandom really go hand in hand with our spiritual
journeys. Sometimes, like the parallels,
spirituality can be an escape, but it can also be a coping
(16:38):
mechanism. It can also be just a place of
comfort, just like being in a fandom community could be.
And also there's the cons and the negative of it, right?
There are fandom war sometimes. There are things within
spirituality sometimes that create a lot of conflict.
So I really feel like that's theparallel that I'm drawing right
now that I didn't draw before. This started off with, hey, this
(17:02):
could be a fun topic to talk about.
And then it got serious. Going back to what we were
originally talking about, about using fandom in our in our
craft, I think one of the best tools that you can use with
fandom, especially in witchcraft, is it's really easy
to put you in Theta because already your energy is attuned
to the creativity of the fandom. So like for example, if you're
sitting down to write fan fiction, your energy and body
(17:25):
are going to vibrate with that Theta wave of as you write and
you create the words on the page.
Like that's just one example. No, that's really cool.
I actually use fandom referenceslike in Minecraft when I'm doing
like energy work or just cleaning up some basic energy.
I'm just going to say cleaning up basic energy because I, I
don't want to get into that because that's a rabbit hole.
(17:45):
But I, you know, use Harry Potter spells sometimes because
it's easier for me to visualize what is happening and to, if I'm
saying it out loud for whoever'swith me to know what I'm doing.
And also like, it kind of cues my spirit team like, hey, this
is what she's doing right now, so, you know.
That's more magic like. It like tunes your magic into
the intention of your spell work.
And then like we're getting intothe whole, we're recreating our
(18:09):
spell work and recreating our magic to like accommodate modern
like times. Yeah, like if I have to, you
know, clean somebody up real quick, quick scurrify and an
Aqua menti fixes a lot. So like.
I don't know what happened that I was just doing that one day
and it was funny. I think I was astrally like in
hell space and I had to take care of something and something
(18:30):
smelled really bad. Like I could smell it, like
physical like sense clear Gustin's.
And as soon as I did that it just went away.
It was interesting. There's some dirty demons down
there, literally like disgustingfilm.
So we were going to talk about seeing witchcraft becoming so
mainstream too. I know Agatha All Along is a
series that people have seen lately that most people are
(18:52):
familiar with. But also you have references
like in the Marvel Universe withthe Scarlet Witch, you know, the
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina watching Riverdale.
Yeah. So.
So are there like, specific examples of like shows or like
books, movie references that you've seen that you're just
kind of like, wow, this is so this is actually very witchy.
(19:14):
It's not just like coming out ofnowhere because fiction has to
come from somewhere, right? I've been seeing these trailers
for Practical Magic too. And I'm just like, yes.
Right, right. I think it's really interesting
and I think a lot of the mainstream media that I actually
see around witchcraft and it could just be that I am not as
cultured. I haven't expanded out.
A lot of it actually is like to me personally feels like it's
(19:37):
based in Wiccan practices, whichis not like a path that I'm
aligned with. But you mentioned Agatha all on
really great show. Marvel does a really great job
of incorporating like witchcraftand things.
And but I'm not from that practice, so I don't I don't
think I can speak to exactly what they're, you know what the
Scarlet Witch in her background. But you asked me if there was a
(19:59):
specific reference of like I wasjust randomly watching a movie
and like I saw like a really good reference to witchcraft.
And you are going to die laughing when I tell you this
reference. OK, I'm ready.
So the Green Lantern where BlakeLively and Ryan Reynolds met and
like allegedly, I'm saying allegedly do not sue me where
their relationship like, hey, this is back when like all of
(20:21):
the lawsuit and like the Justin Baldoni case like came out and
everything. And I like did deep dive like
into like Blick Lively's past because I don't know, I was
obsessed. And I wanted to like confirm
these Tik Toks that I was getting.
And so I paid $3.49 on Amazon towatch this movie.
And as I'm watching it and I'm learning the lore of the Green
(20:43):
Lantern through it, which I've never read the comic book.
So if you're a comic book person, do not come at me.
I'm just going off based on the movie and they were describing
the significances between like the green color and the yellow
color, which is the evil part, quote UN quote evil.
And so the green with the Green Lantern, it's really
(21:04):
representative of like creative energy and like being able to
manifest essentially things thatyou need.
And so you see Ryan Reynolds character use the power of the
Green Lantern to come up with creative solutions to save the
day, which in a lot of time in witchcraft, we associate the
color of green with our heart chakra.
And that's where a lot of our like energy is concentrated when
(21:26):
we're trying to manifest out things that we desire.
And then vice versa, when we look at the color of the, the
yellow, the like, but the opposite they associate this is
the bad guy. It it represents fear.
It represents, I don't remember exactly.
I just remember the big one was it was fear and it like dimmed
the green and it dimmed the ability for the lanterns to
(21:49):
create it like consumed essentially.
And so to see like I was like, wow, when, Because when I look
at fear, like when I look at it energetically, I saw that color
and I've never seen this movie before.
So the fact that like I'm looking at 2 concepts in
witchcraft manifestation and fear and I see these color
(22:10):
associations that I also saw when I'm looking at it like
through my, through my magic, itjust blew my mind.
And I was like, Oh my gosh, the magic and the symbolism in this,
this movie is really good. I just got the chills when you
were talking about that. And it's interesting how yellow
kind of represents fear, becausewhen I see the color yellow,
(22:32):
like as a human, yellow generally associates the happy
things or the sun or things likethat, right?
And black is kind of associated with like the fear and all these
things. But like in witchcraft, black is
used in protection magic, you know right?
It's not like yellow like my wall.
For people who are looking at this on the camera, it was more
like a goldenrod yellow. OK.
(22:53):
Gotcha. Like a darker yellowish.
I'm gonna have to just Google itand text it to you but like.
Yeah, the dark. I was like, Oh my God, this is
this is fear. And to provide a personal
example, So I've been trying to shed weight specifically around
my stomach. And so I kind of like figured
out what my clay tangency is. By the way, I can like put it on
(23:14):
my body and view it like an X-ray.
Bro it's. Weird.
And I'm like, what? So anyway, I put it like on my
body around my stomach to be like, OK, why is this still
attached to me? And I saw that color in like
chunks and I was like, there's like blocks of fear that I need
to address to see what's going on here.
(23:35):
Is this like a future reading time you're going to be doing
like across across the pond on camera at like no, I love how my
my circle of friends and you know, people who are practicing,
you know, as professionals are discovering like these new like
skills that they can do because I I'll share too recently
(23:56):
acquired the skill of I can do tarot readings without tarot.
That's awesome. I'll look at someone and I'll be
like reading and I'll just be sitting here and I see like a
deck of cards like shuffling in my mind and then I'll see card.
Huh. You're.
Like a discord bot, pick a card.Yeah, like a Discord bot, except
intuitively and yeah, no, I was,I was just talking to somebody
(24:16):
one day and I was just like, OK,I'm seeing some stuff like do I
have consent? They're like, yeah.
And I was like yeah, regarding the situation, I'm seeing this
so like 7 of Swords and then I see Ace of Swords like in the
reverse and then I see reversalstoo.
It's weird. And like the card kind of like
animates in my head. It's it's.
Like you ever played Kingdom Hearts?
I have but not like religiously but I have played Kingdom Hearts
(24:38):
a little bit. Did you play the second game and
you met the organization member?I can't remember his name but
that's the boss battle is he throws cards at you and it's
like. No, I have not have to check it
out and. We're done with this.
I'm sending this to you. OK 'cause that's what's
basically in my head that's going on right now.
And I'm like. Synchronicity.
(24:59):
No, but it's. It was just kind of weird and I
was like, oh, OK, I guess that'sthe thing now.
So I feel like we, as we're addressing things like shadow
work, as Deanna discussed in thelast episode she was in with me,
as you're addressing these things in the mental blocks and
the emotional blocks and the physical blocks, it's like you
level up unintentionally. Or is it intentional?
(25:20):
Yeah, yeah, like you're intentionally putting in the
work. So you're getting results maybe
not in the way that you expected, but if you're
spiritual, spiritual, girly or spiritual person, you know,
generally you kind of know whereyour energy sits.
So when your energy starts feeling funky or off in not a
bad way, but like it's unfamiliar, generally you
addressing some things that you needed to address.
(25:41):
So but I'm right there with you.I kind of like do this with my
weight all the time and I'm justlike, I'll deal with it when I
deal with it. I have a gym membership I've
been paying for for months and I've only been one time.
Well, I mostly was like I had a conversation with my guides when
I was like. When I said I want to clear
tangency, this is not what I meant.
This is not what I asked for. It did not happen.
(26:02):
Yeah, I wanted to be Tyler Henry, the Hollywood media.
I wanted to feel the things and just know.
Exactly. And then I was like, this is not
what I asked for. And they're like, well, this is
what you got. And it's like, OK, I don't know
what we're going to do with thisgift.
I don't know, but I wonder if you have that now because you
were going through stuff with like your own health journey.
(26:24):
Maybe that's like, hey, in orderto in the future be able to be
more in tune with like your corporeal form, which by the
way, guys tar season focus on grounding in your physical body
because we are corporeal, like it or not.
Maybe that was kind of like, hey, here's here's something you
didn't ask for, but it could help you.
(26:45):
That's cool. I've never heard of anyone doing
that before other than like, I guess people who do Reiki who
can kind of like they can kind of X-ray like energy and
whatever. I'm not certified, I've never
taken the class. I was just like.
Yeah, well. It really hot when it's
activated so then like I just started doing a scan.
You know, though, I feel like some of us do a different type
(27:07):
of Reiki because I was actually talking to Razzle about this
because Razzle actually is a Reiki practitioner level 1 or
however their levels work. And she was telling me that with
Reiki, they activate you like you go through the class or
whatever and you have like symbols on your hands that
activate. And I was like, I was driving.
We were driving into New York tolike, catch our flights back
home when we were in Salem last weekend.
(27:30):
And we're just like talking about it.
And I was like, why do I feel like there's something on my
hand right now? And it's this color and it's
this symbol. And Razzle looked at my hand and
she was like, oh, so that's whatthat was.
And then I was able to like tellwhat color, like whenever she
was doing Reiki, like what colorher energy was.
And that was really wild becauseI'm not used to working with
(27:51):
people who do Reiki, but I feel like some of us do energy work
in a different way. It's kind of like a branch off
from Reiki. And I was kind of joking and I
was like chaos energy work. What is that called?
Recce. Interesting.
I think a combination of things because you know what, the rise
of chaos energy and people creating their own craft.
And then if you want to throw inthe ancestral component, there's
(28:12):
like pretty much don't quote me on this.
No one like don't sue me, please.
I'm pretty sure every like, you know, cultural practice has some
form of like energy work that's like Reiki adjacent.
Yeah, no, for sure, they definitely do.
I mean, I guess it can't really be described in words quite yet,
like in like human language. It's like if you know, you know,
(28:33):
it's one of those things. But yeah, no, for those people
who are not so familiar with different fandoms, they just
don't bother. They're not really well versed
in pop culture or anything like that, or they're new to the
craft. Any advice for if their spirit
team is trying to like communicate with them and
they're having trouble, like what other spiritual people can
(28:55):
do in order to kind of kind of throw their spare team a bone?
Yeah, for sure I have. I actually have the perfect
advice for you, actually. It's not perfect.
Don't quote me. I feel like.
Who hurt you, actually? I don't want people to get mad
at me like because. You sound like when I talk about
consent when I'm like I asked you for consent like 5 times
(29:15):
because I got so traumatized by people accusing me of not asking
for consent and you're just likedon't sue me don't quote me.
I just work in the legal field and I just know words are very
particular in, but I have great advice for people who maybe fit
your criteria. So especially if you're new to
starting off with your craft, what I would do is select a
(29:35):
validation with your spirit guide team.
And a validation is a symbol that we select that we have in
our minds that we are going to ask for spirit team to send to
us to like just confirm that we're kind of on the right track
or confirm the answer to a question that we have.
So it can be anything. It can be a physical object, it
can be a symbol, it can be a song, just whatever you resonate
(29:59):
with and you will acknowledge. That's the kind of important
part. I also recommend that keep track
of your validation. So that way you don't just keep
setting them and setting them and setting them and then you
forget, well, when I see a ladybug, what does that mean?
I know that's a validation, but what is it?
Another important thing though, to note, I almost forgot this,
(30:20):
and this is actually very important with validations, is
you want to set a time frame of when you expect to see this.
So for example, if you say by the end of next week or if you
say like a specific date, you just want to communicate and be
very clear because sometimes Spirit doesn't always interpret
time. So we got to make sure that they
understand that yes, we want this validation, but within a
(30:42):
specific time. So that way we're not like, you
know, two years down the road and we see a ladybug.
Like when you were searching forthe frog and then Persenius was
like, I saw, I think I saw a frog.
I hear a lot of frogs. No, OK, so there's a story
behind that. So I have a best friend and we
were going to, we set a validation together that if it
was meant to be and it's in our highest and best good, we were
(31:06):
going to go to conclave because we're both obsessed with like, I
don't know if obsessed is the correct word, but we both like
appreciate and we find the politics of the Catholic Church
fascinating. And conclave is like as exciting
as it gets guys. So we wanted to see if we could
swing like going like a week in Rome just to kind of like
experience that process and see the white smoke for ourselves
(31:29):
coming out of the stack. And I posted in every single
Discord. But I could think of I'm looking
for a singular live frog by the end of the day, like when the
sunsets and if I get that validation, I'm booking a plane
ticket to Rome tonight. And that was when Persenius
popped in was like, I saw a bunch of frogs.
(31:51):
They were. It was live, but it wasn't one.
I needed one. I love that.
It kind of reminds me of when I was giving you like one day I
was kind of giving you a read and we're talking about timeline
of things happening for you. And then you were like, oh,
yeah, I booked my ticket for August and I was like, fun.
I reached for. No, I'm fine.
And said we're going earlier. Yeah, no, the spirituality is
(32:12):
wild. Sometimes the spirit matches are
wild. But you mentioned music and I
really wanted to discuss this atsome point.
But you know, we kind of all joke.
And when I go live on Thursdays,we assemble the coven by me
singing the Ballad of the Witches Road.
And it's really funny because some people who come into the
live and are in the Discord likeAaron, she'll text me and be
(32:33):
like, is there something going on?
Because I hear the song and I'm just like, wait, hold on, let me
check in. Yeah, there is something going
on. Or she'll be like ADHD ING and
then the song will come on and then she'll realize it's
Thursday and then she'll log in and I had just gone live and I'm
just like, that is so much fun. Abracadabra by Lady Gaga is a
big hot topic button. Like the protection spell
(32:55):
aspect. What do you think about that?
I love it and I think, yeah, I think it is a protection spell.
Yeah, no, I I definitely feel itwhen I sing along to that song.
It's like the Ballad of the Witch Resort.
I have to sing like all three. I can't just sing one.
I have to sing all three in the car as I'm going to work because
it kind of like sets the intent.I'm reclaiming my power.
I am shielding my vehicle. I'm kind of like going through
(33:16):
all the things, like my mental checklist, and then I end it
with abracadabra and disease. Yeah.
So I think there's a lot of witchiness and, like, everyday
things. And a lot of those references
are drawn from pop culture and fandom.
And like I said, it has to come from somewhere, right?
And it's a concept that I couldn't wrap my head around for
a while because fiction is fiction.
(33:37):
But the more and more I get intomy craft, I'm like,
manifestation is fiction, too, until you make it nonfiction.
Wow, I sounded really philosophical just then.
That was a really profound statement that just came to me.
Wow, must be the three hours of sleep I had.
My cat is right here and let me grab Minnie.
I want to, yes. I'm going to grab Minnie.
Yes, bring Minnie and I actuallyhave a funny story with Minnie.
(33:59):
Deanna and I were just like catching up and talking one day
and I was going to give Deanna atarot reading because I think
this was like the first time we had caught up since Sacred
Spaces. And Minnie was on camera and she
was like, hey, can you actually pull some cards for my cat?
Is this the nanny? She's so cute.
And says, can you say hi to the peoples?
(34:21):
Minnie's like. I'm going to laugh at that.
Meow got caught on the microphone?
But did she just meow? She like leaned forward and like
meow. That's cute.
It probably did. I'll let you know when I'm
editing. No, but Minnie was the 1st and I
think one of two tarot readings I've done for an animal that
(34:42):
was, you know, you opened up some doors for me, Minnie, so I
appreciate it. Well, I feel proud of you.
I feel like she's just like anything else, people.
Want you, They want to see you. Yes, yes.
So when the video version goes out, they're going to be like,
Kitty reminds me of Speaking of fandoms from The Big Bang
Theory. Soft Kitty, warm Kitty, Little
(35:05):
Ball of Fur reminds me of the song.
She's like, this is this is comfy.
I'm cool. I'm just going to stay here.
And she'll start her in here in a moment, and it's really loud.
Oh, that'd be fun to hear. We actually just got her
international carrier yesterday.Are you?
Have you, have you checked in with her to see if she's excited
about the move or if she's like, what are we doing?
(35:26):
We're working on travel blocks with her.
Had some past lives but have notbeen really good around
traveling and so travel scares her.
So we're working on pulling those blocks and making her
more. Comfortable gotcha.
Or it sounds like some cat relaxation treats are in
Minnie's future. I.
Will definitely be getting thosefor my vet.
(35:47):
Yeah, she is so freaking cute. I just hear, I hear Persenius's
cats all day going hello, hello.Literally, that's all they say.
And so lately, that old sound that trended on TikTok that
sometimes I'm alone, sometimes I'm not, sometimes I'm alone.
Literally like every time Persenius and Razzle and I see
(36:09):
each other. Like sometime when we're hanging
out, that song comes out. Cat memes as a rabbit hole.
Anyway, anything else to wrap upfandom and spirit?
No, I think that's all I got. I think my thing is, I guess the
last thing I'll wrap up with is have fun with your fandom.
It is your safe space and your comfort, and you also don't have
to incorporate it in your spirituality if you don't want
(36:30):
to. Yeah, and also you can create
your own fandom, you know, if you're a writer.
I actually talked to actually two people this week that were
in that writing group, ForgottenStorytellers, I think, and we
were just kind of like talking about books and creating
universes and things like that. And as writers, you can create
your own fandom, you know, So ifyou are creatively inclined and
(36:50):
do channeled writing or, you know, writing or typing,
whatever works best for you, youcan create your own magic.
Because like I said, fiction is manifestation, right?
Manifestation is fiction until it happens.
So yes, yeah, take your power back and yeah, make your own
sacred space because if you don't feel safe with yourself,
you're not going to feel safe anywhere else and not really
(37:13):
going to be good for the journeythat you're on, spiritual or
not. So, well, thank you for having
this, a sidebar conversation with me today because it was
just something that just came upin my mind the other day.
I don't know. I think it's because even though
you try to keep it separate, I see your stuff on social media
and I just immediately go Tiana Courts reader, don't sue her.
(37:34):
I have modified my website a little bit.
Really good. No, everything's just kind of
listed fandom reading and so then you can ask for a Harry
Potter inspired reading. I love that.
So that's kind of what, no more legal.
Implications I love that you found like the workaround, but
you can still like, make it fun and do the things.
But yeah, I always will reference you as like the fandom
(37:57):
fandom spiritual practitioner because your practice is so
unique and I haven't seen anybody else do what you do.
So everybody's unique. But Deanna's practice is very
unique and it's a lot of fun. So where can people go find you
on social media, friend? Yes, so I am on TikTok,
Instagram, I have my own website.
(38:17):
I tried Facebook. I don't think it's working
really well. But you can find me under
readings by Hallowell. That is usually my username.
You can also e-mail me at readingsbyhallowell@gmail.com.
But most of like my booking is online and it's really like user
friendly to you. So that's how you get a hold of
me if you would like to book a reading.
Yeah, and like I said earlier onthis podcast episode, Deanna is
(38:41):
running a special until she moves.
So you'll find that if you go find her on social media or I
guess rewind back then. Wow, that sounds like such an
old thing to say. Rewind.
Well, on the regular website andnot through the scheduling
service. You can use the code as many
times as you want on the regularwebsite.
However, when it comes to the scheduling, like the live
(39:02):
appointments, it's only good forone reading.
Cool. Well, no, but that's cool that
you're even doing a discount because what you do is so
needed. Literally, I was able to figure
out a lot of things and this waskind of couple months into my
spiritual reawakening where I was really kind of aware of
where I was. But no, I, I was ready for what
(39:22):
I heard and I, I had to process a lot of things.
It was good. But Deanna is able to tap into a
lot of things. So if you want the tea, if you
want the tea, spiritual tea, go see Deanna.
And so good morning, good afternoon and good evening.
Whenever you do listen to this, I had such a blast talking about
something that most people don'tthink about when it comes to
(39:43):
practicing spirituality, which is fandom and spirituality.
So Deanna, I would like to thankyou again for coming on and
talking about such a niche topicthat should be more mainstream
because amazing. So many different things can
stream from it. And yeah, I'll see you guys next
week or the week after dependingon what I have lined up.
I do have a lot of guests lined up.
I'm super excited on the next episode of the Mindful
(40:05):
Sagittarian Podcast.
