In January 2018, the heart of Pakistan was shaken by the tragic death of a little girl. Seven-year-old Zainab Amin Ansari vanished while walking to her Qur’an class in her hometown of Kasur, Punjab.
Five days later, her body was discovered in a garbage dump near Lahore. An autopsy revealed she had been brutally raped, tortured, and strangled.
Her murder exposed deep failures in child protection, law enforcement, and societal safeguards, and ignited a nationwide outcry for justice.
This is the story of Zainab, and the fight to ensure no child suffers the same fate.
