The ancient rhythms of nature have always been our most profound teachers, if only we pause long enough to listen. As summer's vibrant energy begins to shift, we're reminded that every season serves a purpose—including the seasons within ourselves.

This episode explores the wisdom of fall's dual invitation: to harvest what we've cultivated and to release what no longer serves us. Drawing inspiration from Jim Rohn's philosophy of life's four seasons, we examine how working with natural cycles rather than against them brings greater clarity, balance, and purpose to our journey. You'll discover why September's rare "double nine" numerological energy makes this month particularly powerful for transformation and letting go.

But wisdom without practical application remains just philosophy. That's why you'll learn tangible methods to attune to your body's innate wisdom when deciding what to keep and what to release. From simple standing meditations that reveal your body's truth to journaling prompts that unlock deeper insights, these tools bypass your analytical mind and tap into your authentic knowing. You'll also receive seasonal self-care practices, spiritual rituals, and gentle ways to honor transitions throughout your day.

The most beautiful truth about release is that it creates space—space for what lights you up, space for new possibilities, space for alignment with what truly matters. Whether you're contemplating major life changes or simply seeking more balance this season, this episode offers both inspiration and practical guidance for moving forward with intention. Join us as we embrace fall's wisdom together and prepare the soil of our lives for whatever wants to grow next.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
So welcome and let's get going.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Hello friends, lizzie here, welcome to today's
episode of the Modern ZenCollective Podcast.
As we move deeper intoSeptember, I've been reflecting
on the wisdom of the seasons, not just outside in nature but
also in our own lives, and oneof my favorite teachers, jim
Rohn, spoke often about what hecalls the seasons of life.

(02:33):
I'm not sure if you've heard ofJim Rohn, but he's one of those
OG personal development guyswho's got some really great
one-liners, and I just love aone-liner.
You know just one sentence thatjust sticks in your mind and
really just hits home.
And Jim Rohn believed that justas the earth moves through
spring, summer, fall and winter, our lives also move through
these life cycles.

(02:54):
Spring is the season ofbeginnings, planting seeds,
setting intentions, having thecourage to start something new.
Summer is the season of growth, when we tend to those seeds,
nurture our habits and protectwhat we're building.
Fall is the season of harvest,a time to gather the rewards of
our work, to celebrate what hasbloomed and to also acknowledge

(03:17):
where we may have neglected tocare for what we planted.
So it's both a season ofabundance and release.
So it's both a season ofabundance and release, and
winter is the season of rest, the quiet space for reflection,
renewal and building innerstrength before the new cycle
begins.
So Jim Rohn's core message isreally that we can't control the

(03:38):
seasons, but we can choose howwe show up in each one, and when
we learn to work with thecycles instead of against them,
we move through life withgreater clarity, balance and
grace.
So today I just want to explorewhat this looks like for us
right now, as we step into theseason of fall, and how we can

(03:58):
bring more awareness to our owninner harvests and releases.
So first I want to start offwith asking you a question, and
I'd like you to think about whatseeds you planted earlier this
year.
So what things did you alreadystart putting in motion earlier
on this year, maybe in thespring, maybe in the summer, and

(04:22):
what comes to mind right now?
So personally, for me, I havebeen wanting a life more of
freedom, freedom of location, able to kind of go where the
wind blows us, raise my kidsoutdoors.
We are really big national parktravelers, and so we love to go

(04:45):
to different national parks, different state parks.
I love to have my kids outsideto do activities that are free.
You know, there is so much funstuff to do outside and children
.
They're so curious and they canliterally have so much fun just
playing with grass, with sticks, with leaves, with a puddle of

(05:09):
water, a puddle of mud andthey're just happy as little
clams in there.
So for me I just love to takethem to beautiful places and
just facilitate that outdoorplay, that curiosity, climbing
trees, all the different kindsof things.
And we ended up, my husband andI, talking to our financial

(05:31):
planner in April and it cameabout, after we ran all the
numbers, that it did end upworking out in our favor to go
on the road.
We were going to actually savequite a bit of money every month
by selling our house and goingon the road with my husband for
his job, which is something thatwe have kind of been talking

(05:51):
about doing for a while, and nowit's actually a really great
possibility.
So in April we had thisconversation with them and we
kind of started working alongthe way to get there, of started
working along the way to getthere and fast forward all these
months.
Later we're in September, nowin the fall, and we just sold
our house in August.

(06:11):
We're out of the house, we'vegot storage units and we're
about to take off on the roadwith my husband.
So this life of freedom thatI've been looking for, that I've
been asking for that I've beentaking little steps for
throughout the year, as theyfelt aligned, as they made sense
.
Here we are, in the fall andI'm about to harvest this goal

(06:33):
of having this life of freedomon the road, which is something
really excited that I didn'treally see happening.
And here we are now.
So for me, that's kind ofwhat's going on in my fall.
So I'd really like for you tothink about what have you talked
about earlier this year?
What little action steps didyou take, and what is showing up

(06:55):
for you as we move through thismonth of September?
The other thing about fall isthis crazy duality.
It's both abundance and itsrelease, and one thing that I
really love is numerology, and Ijust kind of want to bring this
in to this talk about September.

(07:15):
2025 is a universal year.
Nine, and nine is the number ofcompletion and release.
So this year is the final stageof a cycle that began nine
years ago.
Our life and just things ingeneral happen in sections of
nine a collective moment forletting go, forgiving, preparing

(07:47):
new beginnings.
Its energy really encouragesreflection.
What have you learned?
What can you release, what'sready to be completed so you can
step into the next cycle withclarity?
The other crazy thing is thatSeptember is a universal month.
Nine.
September is the ninth month ofthe calendar year and when we
add it to the universal yearnumber, it creates the universal

(08:09):
month number.
So this year, september carriesthe exact same vibration as the
year itself another nine.
So that means double nineenergy Endings, closure, release
and transformation.
They're all amplified.
It's just the energy is blowingand going.
So it's like the universe isunderlining, bolding,

(08:32):
highlighting the message thatit's time to let go.
So this theme of releasebecomes even more powerful when
we bring in the lens ofnumerology.
It's a rare moment in thismonth of September where the
energy of completion and releaseis amplified.
So I just want you to think ofit as a cosmic invitation to

(08:55):
reflect on what you've beencarrying around too long, what
has served its purpose and whatyou're finally ready to just sit
down and let go.
This double nine energy asks uslike what can you lovingly
release now so you can enterinto the next cycle lighter and
freer?
It's really important for us torelease, for us to let go,

(09:18):
because that creates space fornew growth later, for
opportunities to come in and forus to say yes to things that
light us up.
If our calendars are full, ifour days feel full, if our
months feel full, if our yearsfeel full, there is no room for

(09:38):
us to be able to say yes tothose things that we really want
to say yes to, for us to beable to say yes to those things
that we really want to say yesto.
So is there something thatyou've been doing for a while,
maybe an organization you'vebeen a part of that you've been
spending a lot of time with.
Maybe you are a board memberand you've been on the board for
a long time, like I was on theBenbrook Parks and Recreation
Board for eight years and thisyear I've stepped down.

(10:01):
I have let that go because it'stime for me to find a new place
that I can spend my time, mytalent and my experience in
something that lights me up now.
So I really want you to thinkabout what you are ready to let
go, what you're ready to setdown and it may not be

(10:23):
everything that you're thinkingabout.
So when you think about thesethings, I want you to think
about each piece of your lifethat you're thinking about
letting go, and then I want youto close your eyes and take a
moment and allow your body togive you the answer Is this
worth staying with, is it worthcarrying into this winter, or is

(10:48):
it time for me to let it go?
And one thing that I saw onInstagram the other day, which
is totally true and justreminded me of this, is that
when you ask your body aquestion and your eyes are
closed, try standing up withyour feet firmly planted on the
ground, about shoulder widthapart.
And when you ask yourself aquestion, and if it's true for

(11:09):
you, your body will naturallystart to lean forward, and if
it's false for you, your bodywill naturally start to lean
backwards.
So that can be a really goodway for you to start to learn
what is right for you in thismoment.
Another way is to sit, closeyour eyes, think about the

(11:30):
question, think about the thing, and does your body feel lighter
?
Does it feel expanded?
Do you have space in your chest?
Are you able to breathe easily, more fully, or does your body
contract?
Does your chest seem to tightena little bit?
Does it feel a little bitheavier, and that is another

(11:53):
really good way for you to beable to tell what is right for
you right now and what is notright for you right now, and
this is just a right now thing.
If you're letting some thingsgo, this might be forever and
this might be something that youcome back to later on in life.
So I just wanted to give yousome practical tips for you to

(12:14):
actually allow your innercompass, your body, which never
lies to you, to be able to helpyou make these decisions that we
so often get stuck in our mindabout.
I also wanted to give you somepractical ways to align with
this fall energy, some seasonalself-care practices.
It is very important for us tobe able to rest, to ground, to

(12:38):
reflect before we decide to makeall these crazy decisions, and
they're not crazy.
They might sound crazy topeople outside of us, but only
you know what's best for you.
So, in terms of resting, Iwould love for you to be able to
give yourself permission to goto bed a little bit earlier or
enjoy some slow, cozy morningswith some tea or journaling.

(13:00):
So even just 10 to 15 minutesof intentional rest can really
reset your nervous system.
And it's also very important toground.
I love to walk barefoot on thegrass Me and my kids are always
barefoot so you can try that.
You could sit against a tree oreven just add some more root

(13:20):
vegetables to your meals socarrots, beets, squash, anything
that grows in the ground likethat to literally bring the
energy of the earth into yourbody.
Sometimes having a little bitextra dirt on your stuff it's
not bad for you, it's actuallyreally good for you.
I also want to give you somejournaling prompts so you can

(13:41):
spend some time reflecting.
So I want to give you threejournaling prompts right here,
so I will read each of them, give a little pause, you can
write them down if you'd likeand come back to them later, or
you can just think about themright now.
The first one is what am Iharvesting from the intentions I
set earlier this year?

(14:01):
Number two what feels completeand ready to be released?
And number three where am Icraving more balance in my life?

(14:31):
There's also some really greatspiritual practices that I'd
like to highlight for this monthas well.
One is creating a gratitudelist.
Each night or morning, you canwrite down three to five things
you're grateful for big or smallGratitude is a really great
grounding practice that helpsshift your mental and

(14:52):
subconscious from scarcity intoabundance, which is really key
during this harvest season.
Another thing that I like to dois refresh my altars.
I'm not sure if you have asacred space at your house, but
it's a good time to refresh itwith some seasonal symbols maybe

(15:12):
some leaves, pine cones, acorns, or maybe a candle that's in an
autumn color.
Use it as a reminder of balanceand release as you step up to
your altar each and every day.
Another thing that you can dothis fall is some moon rituals.
I love moving with the moon.
I don't always get a chance todo moon rituals every month, but

(15:37):
a great full moon ritual, whichis the time for release, is to
write down what you're lettinggo of and burn or bury the paper
.
So this month of September,we're doing our manifestation
challenge and I actually tookthe time to create a fire
releasing ritual for you as abonus, which is included in our
downloadable workbook in thismanifestation challenge.

(16:00):
So if you're interested ingetting a little more
information on that, check outour website.
Sign up for the challenge andyou will receive emails each and
every day with the prompts forthe day, as well as the
downloadable workbook For thenew moon.
This is time to set intentions.
So set your intentions, alignedwith balance, grounding and
clarity for the months ahead.

(16:22):
If that sounds like itinterests you, just check out
when the lunar cycle ishappening over the course of
this month.
Another thing that you can do iswork on your daily rhythms,
slowing down, honoring thetransitions that are happening.
So, for the morning rituals, you could begin your day with

(16:42):
slower, intentional practicessuch as breath work, meditation
or stretching, instead ofrushing straight into the
activity of the day.
Also, for the sunsets, as thedays grow shorter, you can
create your own sunset ritual.
The days grow shorter, you cancreate your own sunset ritual.

(17:04):
Turn off your screens an hourbefore bed and wind down the day
with journaling, reading or teaor just some really nice family
time.
And in terms of honoring thetransitions, make sure you mark
the in-between spaces in yourday before meals, between work
and home, before bed, beforemeals between work and home,
before bed with a deep breath inand out or with a few moments

(17:25):
of gratitude.
These micro pauses signal yourbody and spirit that it's safe
to slow down and scientifically, all it takes is six breaths to
change the state of your nervoussystem, to change the state of

(17:45):
your nervous system.
So taking six deep breaths inand deep breaths out is just a
great way to signal to your bodythat it's safe to slow down.
So together, any of thesepractices can be a great
seasonal framework for you Restfor your body, gratitude and
ritual for your spirit andslower rhythms for your soul and
they really align perfectlywith this Double Nine Energy of
September, helping y'all releasewith intention and step into

(18:08):
balance.
I really appreciate y'alljoining me for today's episode.
It's a little bit of a shorterone, which I am happy to have on
the podcast.
Sometimes we do not have 45minutes an hour plus to just sit
down and listen.
So if any of this resonatedwith you, please try any one of

(18:29):
the practices more if you'd like, but even just one, and try to
incorporate it into your life.
