Rana Foroohar on Navigating Life’s Many Acts

This week, Sara & Vee sit down with Rana Foroohar, Global Business Columnist and an Associate Editor at the Financial Times. She is also CNN’s global economic analyst, a regular feature on NPR and no stranger to any smart economic/business outlet, having also worked at TIME and Newsweek. If you have ever consumed news or found yourself at the World Economic Forum in Davos, you’ve probably seen or heard her!

Rana is also the author of three books all with an eye toward connecting the dots between macro economic trends and their implications for the average human: ‘Makers and Takers: The Rise of Finance and the Fall of American Business,’ ‘Don’t Be Evil: How Big Tech Betrayed Its Founding Principles And All of Us,’ and most recently ‘Homecoming: The Path to Prosperity in a Post Global World.’

AND she is a mother of two kids, plus two step-kids because she just so happened to marry Sara’s dad 12 years ago. 

In their conversation, Rana shares her experience building a journalism career alongside two kids, a divorce, moving overseas and the changing nature of work; an honest take on the upsides of an amicable divorce and life after her kids have “launched;” how she’s stood by her nonnegotiables to find work that works for her; and what she’s learned from canoodling with the world's top political and business leaders (Warren Buffett has some sage advice!).
