Chris McArthur has been in recovery for over seventeen years. Through his faith in GOD, AA, and a desire for redemption lead a purpose driven life. Chris can still remember his childhood trauma's as if they had happened yesterday. He can still hear the discouraging words of his alcoholic farther cutting into his very soul. The words hurt far worse than any beating that his farther could have given him. Chris would watch his farther destroy everything of value in life until he had lost it all. Over time Chris would learn to hate his father for the words, the beatings and the alcoholism. Chris would make it his purpose in life to never be the man that his farther was - until he woke up one morning as an adult and realized that it was too late. He was now dealing with addiction, and broken relationships as his life spiraled out of control. The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole.
