In these troubling times, it is always nice to watch a depressing movie. The Father is a movie about a guy with dementia, from the point of view of the guy with dementia. That is a loaded concept, one with a lot of potential, but potential is a two way street. The potential to make something great comes with the potential to screw the pooch hard. I know I'm a bit late here and it's already been nominated for 16 bazillion Oscars, but what do those assholes know? Nothing! Is The Father an indie classic or is it's ambitious too lofty?
