From engineering to full-time investing, Cory Harelson shares the mindset that kept him moving forward. His go-to? Teddy Roosevelt’s “Man in the Arena” — a reminder that success belongs to the ones actually in the fight.

We talk about what it really means to show up, especially when the path isn’t clear. This one touches on purpose, mental health, and the kind of community that helps you keep going.

You don’t need all the answers to start. You just need the courage to get in the arena.

Speaker (00:00):
I wanna ask you, do you have a quote mantra or mindset
principle that has guided yourjourney from engineering to
full-time investing.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I would say, I'm a big fan of the, the Teddy
Roosevelt quote.
I've actually got on my wallback there, the man in the
arena.
It's a bit of a long quote, butlike the gist of it is like,
just try and do you, if you havea goal, you've gotta actually
try and go for it.
And if you fail, you're theperson at least in the arena
fighting.

(00:29):
And it's way better to be theperson who's trying to do
things.
And falling down and gettingback up and trying again than
the person who's just sitting onthe sideline, criticizing that
person.
yeah.

Speaker (00:38):
I tell you what, man.
Every September we see a lot offolks doing a lot of pushups and
stuff like that for peoplewho've, military men, military
members, or veterans who havesuicide.
And I deal with some of thatfrom tough, from time to time.
And when you talk to thosepeople who are going through
those things, a lot of timesit's not having a clear path

(00:59):
forward.
You know what I mean?
When you talking about havinggoals and hitting those goals,
the man in the arena, right?
Fighting, and never stopfighting, A lot of us, when we
are fighting for a life, itgives us life a lot more
purpose.
And when you have people aroundyou, whether it be coaches,
whether it be business partner, good family foundation, a solid
unit with good camaraderie, itfosters an environment for you

(01:24):
to be able to thrive.
I totally understand man.
So keep fighting.
