So have you come across themushroom tragedy and wanted to
know more?
Well, this is the place at acase that has fascinated the
world the tale of a fatal familylunch of beef wellington with

(00:20):
mushrooms.
And yes, I do know Ms Patterson, from a Facebook true crime
group.
From 2018 to 2020, we werediscussing the case of convicted
baby murderer Keli Lane.
Most of us first met in an ABCtelevision group set up for a

(00:41):
documentary about this murder, and then we migrated over to our
own Facebook group where wecould talk about the case with
like-minded people.
Lane was convicted in 2010 ofkilling her newborn baby
daughter, tegan.
It's a story of hiddenpregnancies, infancy and secrets

(01:04):
in a wealthy community inSydney.
You might have also read aboutour Facebook group in the media.
You may not have as well.
Now it's time for me to tellyou as much as I can, because
the case is before the courts.
The following comments herepertain to me courts.

(01:29):
The following comments herepertain to me.
However, a few people from myKeli Lane days aren't very happy
about me and my podcast.
Now here's my opinion.
At the end of the day, thisstory was going to be reported,
regardless of anything I did.
It's an extremely seriousmatter.
Three very loved people havedied.
There are strict laws inAustralia governing the

(01:49):
reporting of matters before thecourt and I do not want to be in
contempt.
Plus, I'm certain you're notemailing the Herald Sun trying
to stop its podcast Because ofthe legal process underway in
Australia.
I will be reporting andsometimes have an actor voicing

(02:09):
official information.
I will be here for you everystep of the case, attending
court, making episodes andproviding documents for you.
Today I have an update of thelatest news about Ms Patterson,
so we have the details of thatcoming up.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
There is a new development in the mushroom
lunch tragedy.
Following concerns, accusedkiller Erin Patterson may be at
risk in jail, ms Patterson, aged49, from Leangatha, victoria,
has been moved into isolation.
There's reports that the mum oftwo has been moved into a
protected unit away from otherinmates because of the risk to

(02:49):
her own safety.
Sources are telling News Corpher alleged crimes make her a
high-profile target inside theprison.
Ms Patterson is, of course, charged with those three counts
of murder and five of attemptedmurder.
These charges relate to thelunch that she hosted in late
July where three people died andone fell critically ill because
of suspected mushroom poisoning.

(03:10):
We are not suggesting MsPatterson deliberately poisoned
her relatives.
Moreover, she's been held inthe Dame Phyllis Frost Center
since November when she wascharged, and we now understand
that she's been detained in aself-contained unit for her
safety.
According to 7 News, she mightnow have access to her own
kitchen to cook meals and evenaccess activities.

(03:33):
In another update, the policebrief that has been prepared
over the last 20 weeks is in itsfinal stages and will be served
on Monday.
Earlier this month, australianFederal Police Commissioner Rhys
Kershaw told Senate estimatesthe following we also regularly
provide our unique capabilitiesto state and territory police.
In November last year, the AFPprovided its technology detector

(03:56):
dogs to assist our hardworkingcolleagues at Victoria Police
while executing a search warrantrelating to individuals who had
ingested death cap mushrooms.
Technology detector dog Georgiafound one USB, a micro-secure
digital card and a SIM card.
Technology detector dog Almafound a mobile phone, five iPads

(04:17):
, a trail camera, a securedigital card and a smartwatch.
These were not found during theinitial searches undertaken by
officers.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
I also have the heart-wrenching statement from
the survivor, Ian Wilkinson, when he returned to work after
his recent loss.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
This is an excerpt of Ian Wilkinson's sermon from
February.
It's based on a newscomaureport.
Mr Wilkinson returned to theCorumbra Baptist Church for the
first time since the allegedpoisoning more than six months
ago, saying it had been a bigweek full of milestones for him.
At the start of the week it wassix months since Heather and
Gail and Don went to be with theLord.

(04:58):
He told the congregation Fridaywas my birthday and yesterday
was our 45th wedding anniversary.
So it's been a pretty big week, but I am grateful for all that
God has done through me.
Let me encourage you to keep ongoing, mr Wilkinson said.
The way is sometimes hard, butGod is good.
He is with us.
He promised never to leave orforsake us.

going to be a long and involvedprocess.
