Travis has played pedal steel professionally since prior to moving to Nashville in 1999. He is currently the touring steel guitarist for one of America's top country music stars, Luke Bryan, an award winning artist who has sold more than 75 million records.
A veteran of the recording studio scene, Travis has also created one of the most comprehensive online resources for learning to play the complicated instrument that is the pedal steel guitar.
During the conversation we get to discuss what it is like touring and performing with a tier one artist playing at the major venues, how to best support a vocalist instrumentally, what is improvisation and also some great career advice for anyone seeking to earn a living from playing music.
For the collaboration on this episode, Travis chose the famous Disney classic, When You Wish Upon A Star which he played beautifully on the 10-string E9th tuning pedal steel in combination with the concert flute of Brian Hayes.
