Speaker 2 (00:15):
And I'm Liz, and we're so glad you've joined us.
Let's dive in.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Are we putting these up?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Oh, on the Patreon, I forgot about that.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
That might be fun.
Yeah, sure, why not?
If you're on the Patreon, thenyou can see my new shirt.
That's right, your shirt'ssuper cute.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
It's so pretty.

Speaker 1 (00:46):

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Mine hasn't come yet.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah, you'll love it Soft.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
I'll showcase my wares on another episode when
you come to the Patreon and yousee I'll be wearing mine.
Yay, it'll just be like asurprise.
Which episode?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Oh, you get to see our banter.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Yeah, yeah, and any given day.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
What we're wearing, what we look like, yeah, what we
didn't do to our hair or makeup.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Whether or not we have day old concert hair that
we zhuzh to the best of ourabilities.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
That's my situation, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
sometimes that's just what you got to do.
You just got to go with a zhuzhand leave it hey.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
I love that we're freelance hot, freelance, hot.
Yeah.
When you want to be, you do it.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I'm very proud of that ability in us actually.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Plus also.
Okay, this has nothing to dowith Mozart and the Jungle guys,
so we'll get there in a second.
I was just thinking about this, the whole concept of that post,
which I thought was reallyfunny.
But I was like this is hot as astate of mind, and then there's
glam.
There's like we got glam andthat's glam hot, which we are

(02:12):
very capable of doing, but Ithink we're hot no matter what.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
That's the state of mind, it's a state of mind.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Which I like.
I like New.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
York.
Heck yeah, speaking of New York.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Speaking of New York state of mind.
Speaking of New York state ofmind.
Look at the segue right off thebat.
Oh right, I'm feeling it.
Oh, episode two.
Okay, can I just say introstill not a fan.
It's kind of like the, it'skind of like, I don't know, like
a teeny, tiny fragment of asymphony theme.
That just stops yeah.

(02:42):
Super well thought out, butanyway, we don't have talk about
that anymore.
I just, it annoys me and Imight and you don't have the
option.
I just skip because it's liketoo short.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yes, so I tried, but I wasn't fast enough.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Oh yeah, because prime doesn't have like the
click fast forward.
You know, like Apple, you justtap it and it's like 10 seconds,
10 seconds.
The prime is like if you don'tstop, if you don't anticipate
when you need to stop, you'regoing too far.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Word to the wise everybody.
One of the downfalls.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah, well, anyway, did you catch the name of this
episode?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
No, what is it?

Speaker 1 (03:25):
It's called Nothing Resonates like rhinoceros horse
hair, oh God, which definitelyis a line that's up in this
episode.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
But first, first step .
How excited were you.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
I was very excited so that we open on a surprise
party.
The best girl For Lizzie.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
The best girls back.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I love her and Bradford, who are an item and
they've just come back from liketraveling the world like true
Bohemians.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yep, they are.
They really did it up.
They didn't shower and stuff, because she was very excited
about the shower.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
And.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
I really loved the scene where they're in her room
together and they're just likeit was like real time girl talk
catch up.
It was much needed.
Lizzie gave our girl some realtalk, which she needed.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Right, right.
So basically Lizzie completelyhones in on the vibes that
Hailey and Alex are not reallyin that honeymoon stage anymore.
The honeymoon's over.
They're kind of like souring oneach other.
It's getting old.
And she says that obviouslyyou're into Rigo and you need to

(04:44):
do two things.
You need to, number one, getRigo a new assistant, because
you can't be all up in hisbusiness.
And number two, you need tofigure out what you're doing
with Alex and let him know.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
This is all very practical good advice.
And Hailey's like but I amtrying to find him a new
assistant and he doesn't wantany of them.
And she's like no, you don'twant any of them.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Right.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
And I'm like not entirely untrue, like
subconscious business.
Yeah, so I really appreciatethis jam session that's going on
in the living room becausethey've brought back all of
these instruments from all theseplaces they've been in and I
could get behind that.

(05:33):
You know, like in the earlypart of the first season when
they were doing that horribleexcerpt off or whatever Game.
Yeah, kind of ridiculoussubjective competition yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah, spin the wheel of I don't know what was it
called Showdown?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah yeah.
It was like showdown, somethinghorrible like that, which would
never happen in real life, atleast never in any parties I've
been to, but like a jam sessionwith a bunch of like instruments
from another part of the world, that seems like a good time.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Right, and Bradford has brought back this one that
has, like these horn legs thatit props up on and a very tiny
drum, and I will say he had Alex, just tap it, yeah, and it
sounded magical.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Made a very satisfying sound.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
It was lovely, and if it really truly sounded like
that, I would be in on that aswell.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yeah, this is this like lovely little like.
Not even you can't evenreplicate that.
It was very nice yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
And we come to learn that Bradford has been invited
to move in to their apartment.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
And he's talking with Alex and Alex kind of has a
look like oh well, I didn't getinvited to move in.
I got a toothbrush I would usebrushes here and I would
Bradford when he says electrictruth pushes yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I haven't gone water pick route, but I would love a
water pick too.
That would make me feel so good.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
What does Bradford say?

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Clean teeth are the best.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
If you want to blow your mouth, exactly.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
It was literally blow your mouth.
I'm blind.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Sorry guys, I keep hitting my glass again.
Is that the?

Speaker 2 (07:26):
drum.
No, it was more like a magicalit was more like a.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
That was not nearly as magical.
It needs to be.
That must not be yourrhinoceros horse, it needs to be
like a.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Like that cut is out, like it.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
But it was like higher pitched.
It was like a magical bow.
Her question is friends help me.
I'm just going to flick things.
This is going to be by far ourmost listened to episode yet
ASMR, asmr, I'm sorry, in thejungle, okay, so there, oh, mike

(08:03):
.
Mike of the tattoos is back, the one that Lizzie was giving a
tattoo to earlier in the seasonone Getting down.
He is living and breathingmusic.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
That's what she says and Haley gets this look, which,
of course, at the moment, I didnot understand.
She gets this look on her facelike, of course.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Yes, and so we'll find out more about what that
look was about later.
The next scene where it atrehearsal.
Back to the symphony hall and Ihave to say when they started
panning around the orchestra Iwas like this is a hot person
orchestra.
Only in Hollywood there's somany good looking people.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
I transcend.
Quote orchestra hot.
He's a veteran to the world.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Everyone is good looking.
Rodrigo enters.
He seems kind of unsure aboutthis and I wrote is he going to
be mean?

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I had a really important question to ask you
before we get into what'shappening in the scene?
Yes, Did the rat tail move?

Speaker 1 (09:10):
I had that same thought, that it moved.
But then I was like, oh, maybeI'm being, I don't know,
nitpicking.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Also, I don't think there were three.
There are like three now in thesame place, like three separate
ropes.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
I didn't even see that.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
And they were kind of well.
I kept staring at it then.
For the rest of the episodesit's like this feels like it's
in a different place on his headthan it was last episode.
But I will lose my mind if inthe next episode it's also
clearly in a different place.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
What is that show where there's you know how in
the 1700s they had those moles.
The women would draw thosemoles on.
There's some comedy where themole migrates around the woman's
face every shot into adifferent place.
What is that?

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Okay, that is in.
I think that's in YoungFrankenstein, isn't it?
Does that happen in YoungFrankenstein?
Oh my gosh, somebody's got tohelp us.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Someone is screaming it at the.
I know, I know exactly whatyou're talking about?

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Yes, it moves it to different place.
So that's what I'm wonderingit's like, is that what they're
going to do to us with this rattail?

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Maybe they're doing it on purpose.
They're like moving it todifferent parts of his head.
They're self-aware In 2015,.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
they recognized the rat tail's got to go.
But let's just have some funwith it first.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
That's got to be what it is, because it is ridiculous
.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
So, so ridiculous.
Okay so, but he does, he kindof like, leads into it by saying
you know that the concertwasn't bad, but it also.
He basically said it alsowasn't good and was talking
about like lateral movement, essentially, and that they
weren't going to the moon.
And that's when he kind of liketries to, tries to kick into

(10:58):
his bad cop routine, which isn'tsuper convincing, but the
orchestra seems annoyed enough.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
So yeah, no phone no phone, no chit chat, no lawyers
on stage.
I mean Kristoff is beingattacked and singled out to be
fair, Do we ever?

Speaker 2 (11:19):
are we ever encouraged to be talking on
stage?
Are we ever encouraged to haveour phone ring during the
performance?
But he canceled soft.
Now the softball cancelling Ihave, I take, I take umbridge
with that because he can't dothat outside of his.
They're allowed to do whateverthey want, he can't say you know
which is exactly how I wouldreact to that.

(11:42):
I'd look around at everybodyand be like we're going to do
that anyway, right yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:46):
seriously what's?

Speaker 2 (11:47):
he going to do Fire, all of us, oh, so anyway, yeah.
So now Rodriguez also introuble.
It's not just the orchestra, this is trouble, it's also
Rodrigo.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yes, so Rodrigo has been living in an apartment that
is provided by one big donor, notably the father of Sarah Bell
, who was just fired as.
Rodrigo's assistant.
Anyway, her donor dad isthinking about.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Oh, I'm sorry.
I don't mean that to be funny, that's not actually funny, but
like it's funny because, yeah, the dad who's the donor.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Aren't all dads donors?

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I guess, technically speaking, yes, this episode is
extra.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Extra.
What are you drinking there, wouldn't you like to know?
So Rodrigo might be evicted andhe's on thin ice and they show
some flashbacks to his time as atenant and he has been kind of
a bad tenant.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
So he's had a goat there.
Who could have even get thegoat into the apartment, like
who would have had to bring iton the elevator?
It's like there's so manyquestions about the goat.
Yeah, things feel to bereaching critical mass a little
bit.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, things are all kind of.
The wheels are spinning off inevery direction.
It's getting a little crazy.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Right speak so the donor might pull phone.
Full funding.
Are you gonna say what I?
Think I'm speaking of crazy.
Oh Wait, what do you think it'scoming?

Speaker 2 (13:30):
You're gonna bring up the next scene.
I was oh, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Okay, so Rodrigo and Gloria are talking backstage,
they wrap up their conversationand Pavel comes up the stage.
Oh, hot and wise.
Pavel comes up and he andGloria have a moment, and I'm
not sure what it is.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
I did notice that you're right, I didn't notice
that are they like?
Is there.
That would be very exciting.
I would root wholeheartedly forthat.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
I'm on board with that.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
Oh, I hope that.
I hope you caught somethingthat develops.
I did not I admit I don't thinkI noticed that, so I'm very
excited.
Now I'm gonna be watching.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Okay, okay, I watch you eagle eye.
Yeah, so the scene that you'retalking about is coming up here.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Our favorite guy from Princess Bride, slash Clueless,
is back.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
I call him been seeny .

Speaker 2 (14:28):
I can't somebody brought this up to me.
Oh, I feel like a jerk.
Somebody recently brought upthis conversation to me and was
like you're really not into thePrincess Bride, and I was like
I'm not not into it.

(14:48):
It's like literally what I saidI'm all about the
double-negatives today.
I've been using a lot ofdouble-negatives for some reason
today.
I guess that that's a sign ofbeing non committal.
But it's not like I'm notagainst the Princess Bride, it
just it wasn't one of yourformative.
Yeah, I don't think I've everseen it the whole way through,

(15:11):
whereas mr HallI Know every linemr Hall has.
Anyway, it is lovely to seewhen slow again.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Yes, so when slow the pianist is in Thomas's
apartment and clearly Thomas isshowing him his symphony, so
hopefully this gets rid of yougo off the hook because I Don't
know, but anyway it's good thereviews are not great.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
It's really funny because at first he's like very
encouraging.
He's like, oh, it's a work inprogress, you can get funky with
it, you can play around, andThomas is very distraught about
this and and informs him eventhough, okay, so, so he's
supposedly written thismasterpiece and he hasn't had
anybody like Review it or helphim revise it or edit or

(15:59):
whatever.
He's going to premiere it intwo weeks, belarus, somewhere.
Congratulations, that'sterrible.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Hey, he is a true friend.
Tells him to call.
He's a true friend, he wasgonna be supportive.
He was gonna be supportive whenhe learned it was you know, he
was workshopping it, right, still working on it.
But he told him the truth when, when he's like, oh, I'm gonna
put this out there he's like youshouldn't do, don't do that.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yet and then he says the thing that, like every
Artist, fears in their entirelives he calls the work
derivative, derivative, but thenhe also backs it up by playing
quotes from other things thatThomas confuses for his own
music.

(16:52):
But I really liked the quotethat he said about you know,
like you're this conductor, you've been living and breathing
this music for decades anddecades.
What goes in must come out,mm-hmm.
So this concept that maybe theconcept is you write all this,
you get it all out of yoursystem, like you put all these
themes out and then there's room.

(17:13):
It's like a detox.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
I love that.
I don't think Thomas is takingit Because he throws Winslow out
.
Oh he picks him up bodily andremoves him in his very.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
What's the actor's name?
Oh my god, I forget that.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
It's terrible.
So Well, um, oh yeah, wallace, wallace, scott or something like
that, wallace.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
He's going oh, I'm ticklish.
That whole scene is great, butyeah, it kicks him out.
It's really upset.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Yeah, and then then we're over in Gloria's office
again.
Sharon is there as a proxy forEdward who's the?
Very annoying donor.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Edward.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
He's the worst.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
I said oh, what a surprise.
Jerk face isn't there.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Yeah, he could do it in person.
So he's Deferring his fundinguntil the next financial quarter
.
So that's obviously bad news.
Yep, haley shows up to theoffice because she's been
summoned there and we learn, welearn that they're making Hayley

(18:30):
the face of the orchestra andshe doesn't that.
She doesn't even play it.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
This isn't far-fetched at all.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
This would never happen.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Never, ever, ever, all alone.
To be fair, I will say I justfound this on Facebook.
There is an orchestra I'vesubbed with exactly once in the
last eight years and I went ontheir Facebook and there's a
photo with me prominently themiddle of it.
I was like, hey, don't I getcredit for like, using my
likeness, or something?

Speaker 1 (19:03):
You probably signed something away.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
I did when I fill out my I-9.
Anyway, no, this is veryfar-fetched, like she's gonna be
like on billboards and stuff.
That's insane.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
And this is not gonna go over well with the rest of
the orchestra.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Also, what about Cynthia?
She's a babe.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Yeah, they have a plenty of hot people in that
orchestra.
Yeah, it's a super hotorchestra.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
It's a hot orchestra We've already established.
I do like that.
There is a young donor's eventof some kind that we're going to
see.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Right.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Felt very appropriate to.
Felt very appropriate to recentexperience of my own, except,
well, they weren't really youngdonors.
I was gonna say I was thinkingabout donor events.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
How many donor would you have?
Enough young donors to make aparty list?
Maybe in New York, maybe.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
All that young money like family money, like big
inherited families, like withlots of wealth Okay, yeah, I
could see it, but anywhere elseno.
But it would be great, it's agreat idea.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
It is a good idea, young rich kids.
So Gloria wants Haley to come.
Yeah, yeah, which we're goingto see later.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Yep, it's that time of year, we're back to school
and we are back to gigging.
Even if you're not mentallyready for the season, you can
count on our season sponsor, potter Violins, to get your
equipment ready.
When's the last time you'vereared your?

Speaker 1 (20:34):
bow stuff.
Oh, I feel like it was recently, but I bet it's been over six
months, so I got to get overthere and get it freshened up.
Oh, and I need new backupstrings and an instrument
adjustment.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Sounds like it might be about time.
Yeah, I do love to get in therefor a visit to our favorite
technicians as we approach thechange of season.
Maybe I need a new case too.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
And, as we've said before, if you need a rental
instrument, they're the place togo.
My daughter and many of mystudents rent from Potters and
the instruments are reallyfantastic, even the smaller
violas.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Yes, get back to your music this season with
confidence by visiting PotterViolins.
So your equipment will be ready, even if you might need a bit
more of a warm-up.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Then we flash over to Rodrigo's apartment.
He's contemplating his divorcepapers.
He's got to sign them.
He looks like he's dragging hisfeet on that.
But Hailey shows up and she hasfound him an assistant.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
She has, it's Mike.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
It's Mike Yay, the one who lives and breathes music
.
Such a good idea.
Yeah, so he.
Before he had decided, I wrotelots of encouraging things for
Mike.
Mike is a candidate.
Give Mike a chance.
He made the mate.
Exclamation point.
Exclamation point.
I was rooting for Mike.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
I love that he trapped him by saying he made
the mate.
I was like, well, I mean, I didthat.
Okay, I had two things aboutthis.
First of all, I really need alife assistant.
I want someone to keep my lifein tune.
I feel like I need to manifestthis because I don't know what

(22:24):
my life would be like if I justhad someone running around
bringing me my coffee the way Ilike it and making sure I do all
the things and not riding mybike at three o'clock in the
morning and all those things.
I would do really well withthat.
So I'm just going to put it outin the universe.
The other thing I wrote downwas this quiz Manifesting an
assistant.

(22:45):
Yeah, manifesting an assistant.
I talked to me about thisrecently.
By the way, that's a story foranother time.
She was like when you'rere-envisioning your life in 2024
, she's like you should startbilling in the possibility of
what it would be like to havesomeone who's assisting you in
your life.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Mike, hey, there's virtual assistants.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Can you imagine how much more functional my life
would be if I had someonehelping me?

Speaker 1 (23:19):
I might help subsidize that.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
That's good to know.
I'm going to lock that up.
I'm going to pick this back upin January.
I was just noted.
Yeah, I do.
I need a mike or Michelle, asRodrigo's instantly decided he
was going to call him.
But also, rodrigo gives himthis quiz and I was thinking to

(23:50):
myself, like would Hailey haveknown all the answers on this
quiz?

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Did you know all the answers to this on your quiz?
Okay?
Asks him like oh, my god, Ican't remember what he asked him
because I was like I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
And what was the last question?
Oh, about the, about going intothe monastery, or whatever.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Did you know the answer to that?
No, and then he just showed himthe tattoo and we don't know.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
His tattoo Was that Lizzie's tattoo.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
Oh, that'd be, hilarious.
It was Lizzie's tattoo.
I thought she did like someterrible bear on his back or
something.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Oh, that's right, it's on his inner forearm and
it's of List.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Oh List joined a monastery.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
That's what I thought I read.
Is the name underneath that you?

Speaker 2 (24:39):
know bus.
I'm glad you caught that, because I just thought it was a
head and I was like so we don'tknow who that is, when I was
supposed to know who that is.
I made that up.
I'm annoyed.
I don't know who this is Like.
It was making me feelinadequate in my music history
knowledge.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
I think they were supposed to be pretty obscure.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
But no.
So Michelle has got a chance.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Right, right.
And so Haley leaves with thesatisfaction that she's probably
found him a really goodcandidate, and Rodrigo looks
very dejected.
He clearly is missing, haley, yeah, so then we're over at a
diner, they're having anorchestra committee meeting

(25:26):
talking about, well, first ofall, the stern pop of version of
Rodrigo.
They're talking about all thesenew rules and his new attitude.
No, he hasn't won any peopleover.
Apparently, management hasdenied their terms.
They're going forward withtheir rollbacks and Nina, the

(25:47):
lawyer, is there.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Yeah, Interestingly she talks about this, where I
mean a lot of this.
It feels like I don't want touse a word triggering, because I
think that gets overused, but Ifelt a little like it was
hitting a bit of a nerve becauseyou and I are on a committee
and we're figuring out somecontract stuff this year and

(26:10):
some of the conversation pointsthat have happened in here are
actually the type ofconversation points you might
have.
And one of the things that Ninatalks about is this idea that
the orchestra members are kindof giving, they're validating
the other point of view in a waythat's like invalidating their

(26:32):
needs or what they're asking for.
And she's saying you know, youkind of can't overestimate your
relationship with Gloria or thepower that that has, because
here's Edward Jerkface who isreally the bad guy and he has
controlling interest of theboard because of all of his like

(26:52):
various financial things and hebasically breaks up companies
for a living and that's how he'smade all of his money.
But one of the things that wasreally interesting and also the
going after his image thing, like jokingly, this came up in a
conversation.
I was laughing about that, but Iwas thinking about this in the

(27:13):
meeting with Gloria when Sharonwas Edwards proxy.
Gloria says because hebasically says he's going to
hold his funding for the quarter, he's not going to give them
any more cash flow for thequarter, which is going to
squeeze them.
And at first, you know, theorchestra is like the orchestra.
The people on Gloria's side arelike, oh my God, that's going

(27:34):
to totally screw us over.
And then Gloria is like wait, wait, no, this is brilliant
because it weakens our positionwhen we go into negotiate with
the musicians.
So she's essentially sayingshe's not working for the
musicians.
She's essentially saying like,no, this puts us in a position
to make it seem like we haveless money than we do to pay
them.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Right.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
So I think it's good they have Nina, because Nina's
kind of yeah except then Cynthiacomes over and is like you
don't need to go so hard.
You know what was it.
She was, like, wanted her toback off a little, but I don't.
Yeah that's what they need.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
Yeah, yeah, and basically Nina's hitting on
Cynthia.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Oh, my God Over it Shameless, shameless Like.
I'm so distracted becauseyou're the sexiest woman I've
ever seen, which, to be fair, you know, safran Burrow is kind
of is one of the sexiest womenon the planet.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
I mean yes, but if you're there, as you need to do
your job in a professionalmanner.
You don't just willy nilly gohitting on your clients.
Basically, that's very true,Very true.
But I know this is this issupposed to be salacious for the
drama, yeah, ah, anyway.

(28:49):
So then we're at the YoungDonors Party and Haley shows up
looking tray chic.
She has her hair up.
She looks very nice, very puttogether, the Young.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Donor notices her right away.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Yes, this Young Donor ain't Eric, who's very nice
giving her attention.
Yeah, and there's a SymphonyHall cake.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
The Symphony Hall, the dream Symphony Hall which I
wrote.
Oh, yes, just what.
We need to spend more money ona new venue.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
Well, yeah, that's what I said.
Like they have the money forthat.
In New York they have dotersdropping out.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
Yeah, yeah, they're like losing money and they're
like oh, let me, let's make thisgiant.
Symphony Hall complex thathappens so often that I'm like
and just I don't know just interms of spending priorities.
But this, this whole scene, hadme thinking so much about
patronage and this concept and Ithink it is coming coming fresh

(29:46):
off of.
I got to play shows.
Stephanie and I play in a groupthat she was doing.
She was otherwise occupied sowe weren't able to play together
.
But I was at this event whereafterwards we had a donor
reception and we were sittingand eating amazing desserts and
drinking champagne and talkingto these donors and I was just

(30:07):
like sort of marveling at thisconcept of just the mixing of
the artist with the person whohas the means in order to
support them, and that it is avery, it's very much like a
business transaction in so manyways, but it's it's.

(30:27):
It also has this kind of likeveil of I'm, I'm asking, I'm,
I'm asking you for something.
We're not trans, it's not atransactional relationship like
a business relationship, but inthis case, when you have a donor
, you're like asking them togive you money if you're in that
, and just the like history ofthat vibe.

(30:51):
You know that that vibe is likeit's.
It's really interesting.
I was just like watching thisscene and thinking, wow, this is
like what it would look like tohave a new generation of those
people that you're figuring outhow to have that transactional
relationship with and you don'teven have.
They can't even argue age orwisdom on top of you, it's just

(31:14):
strictly that they have themoney and you need it.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Right, it's a strictly money based power
dynamic.
Yeah, that's I really do feellike.
That's why it feels so weird togo into those conversations,
because you know they have thepower, yeah, to say yes or no,
yeah, and they know they havethe power to say yes or no, yeah

(31:38):
.
So it's so uneven.
Yeah, that doesn't really feellike a relationship in that way.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
And of where it's like a give and a take kind of
100%.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
And of course you know we, we have seen firsthand
what a really beautiful sort oflike I don't know, I guess
instead of the wordtransactional I would use
reciprocal type relationship canlook like with with a

(32:08):
philanthropist who's willing toput their resources behind
something they believe in or aperson they believe in.
I mean, that can it can be likea beautiful relationship.
But at the outset, like whenyou're trying to form that
relationship with all thesedifferent people and you do feel
, I mean there was this kind offeeling like I don't know, like

(32:30):
a display, like you're ondisplay, you're doing this thing
and they're watching you dothis thing and they're admiring
the thing, and then they want togive you money for it.
It's very interesting.
I don't know something to pickapart, but yeah, yeah, so.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
so Rodrigo gives a lovely speech in Spanish.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
This is his target market, I feel like for donors,
for the young donors, it couldbe way more intense deal than
the old guys.
Yeah, exactly yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Yeah, edward is there .
He's trolling Gloria.
Why is Edward there?

Speaker 2 (33:10):
He's not a young donor.
Yeah, he's an old jerk face.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
Whoa strong language there.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
I have said jerk face a record number of times on
this episode.
For what it's worth, I thinkthat's now five.
That might be the perfect time.
That's what we're going to callthis episode the Forks Incoming
is the scene that made me laughharder than any other scene in
the entire episode.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Wait, the one where Haley's drunk.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
Yes.
So first though, what didRodrigo say to Sharon?

Speaker 1 (33:46):
He said why did you leave me or something like that
they were talking about.
I got really close to her faceand like yeah, Well, you know
the very first episode, weren'tthey like making?

Speaker 2 (33:58):
out, they were hooking up.
I forgot about that.
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
And she left him for Edward, yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
I thought it seemed threatening or not threatening,
but like yeah, I bet you regretit or something like that, I
don't know.
Yeah, it was weird the way soHaley is definitely tipsy and
it's like Maestro, can I buy youthis free glass of champagne
and come hang out with us?
And da da, da da da at his face.

(34:29):
He looks so concerned and hegoes this is not aca polko.
He's like scolding her for howout of control she is.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
I was like calm down, she had a couple drinks.
She's having a great time,she's a fun drunk.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Okay, she is hilarious and fun I know, but I
was thinking about it from theperspective of this is donor
relations.
You're supposed to be likeworking these donors and she's
turning into she's probablydoing a great job.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
I'm sure he was.
Let's be real.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
He was a little jealous yes, I think that's what
it was, but I laughed.
I don't know why I laughed sohard, because her reaction to
was like it made me laugh sohard.
And then the fact that he'slike fleeing and he's biking and
he's doing his usual thing, butMike or Michelle is desperately
trying to keep up.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
Poor Mike.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
He's like if I lose you, text me around.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
He's trying so hard.
He fixed him that little plateof perfectly curated food that
he left.
And then Rodrigo's like no, Idon't want any of that, I don't
have an appetite.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
It's like how could you even think I could eat right
now, right?

Speaker 1 (35:47):
Yeah, rodrigo is very high maintenance.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Oh, that whole thing was so funny to me.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
I hope Mike sticks around, because I like that?

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Oh yeah, I think he's here.
He's probably here for thetemporary future, anyway.
I hope so.
How does he always find thesecrazy parties with these?

Speaker 1 (36:01):
crazy people and where are these happening?

Speaker 2 (36:03):
And he seemingly finds the most like unstable
seeming broad that exists in thegroup and then he goes right
for her.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
Yeah, so they find this random drum circle that's
happening.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
It looks like fun.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
It looks like fun, but there's like an animator
lookalike there.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
Basically, he goes right for her.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
Who goes right for her.
And you know they are dancingand having a good time.
Then we flash over to Haileyand Lizzie, who are back at
their apartment and I was like Ilove, this is the best ending
to any night.
Yes, they're both just sittingout there in their jammies,
comfy clothes, they're eatingcake.
They're commiserating, keepingit real.

(36:46):
They're having girl talk.
I wanted to be there.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
Yeah, and then they have a cake fight, which I can't
.
Food fights stress me out sobadly.
Oh really, I hate everythingabout the idea of a food fight.
I hate the idea of wasting thecake.
That's number one.
That's really upsetting.
I don't like the idea of thefood smeared on you or if it's
like a chunk and then it fallsoff of your clothing and you

(37:11):
don't know if it's going to falloff your clothing or it's stuck
in your hair or it gets on yourface and then your face breaks
out.
There's like a lot to consider.
Please don't ever.
If we ever have a sleepover wecan do all those other things
Don't put food on me, don'tplease don't put food on me, a
cake on you, no, okay, noted.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
If we ever get married, I will not smash it in
your face.
Did you have that stipulation?
Did you guys get married?
Your previous?

Speaker 2 (37:41):
year.
Yeah, no, I didn't make a hugedeal of it because I assumed we
would not do that to each other.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
Yeah, oh, we definitely had it.
There will be, no.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
Yeah, but speaking of yeah, like we do have
retirement plans, just so youknow the story.
For another time I heard aboutit.
I heard a plan last night.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
I'm in.
It's gonna be great.
I'm always down for a musiciancommune retirement plan.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
I'm big on that.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
And then, finally, we end the episode with yes, so
Rodrigo, and the drummer girlwhich, by the way, in the
credits that is her name, hercharacter's name is drummer girl
, oh, boy or at his apartment, yeah, I mean he's having.
He is having a massive party inhis apartment.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
It's like everyone that was in the drum circle.
He is now invited back to theplace and he's almost surely
going to get evicted.
He's gonna get evicted yeah.
This is only a matter of ifit's next episode or the one
after that.
Oh, do you?

Speaker 1 (38:46):
think that he's gonna have to move in with Hayley.
I think, it gets effected.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Oh boy that would be kind of crazy.
That would set it up, wouldn'tit?
Yeah, it would.
Alex would be like I don't getto move in, but this guy with
the rat tail, this guy is yes,and he would not be wrong Well
that wraps it.
That's where we left things, with Rodrigo, in a fit of
passion, with the Anna Marialookalike, and we'll see what

(39:16):
happens with all the drama.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Next one.
