(00:00):
It was like a cylinder, like a giant cylinder bulging out of
the side of my pants. That came out so wrong.
I did not. That is not what I meant to say.
(00:38):

Sorry, I got an e-mail and it distracted me.
I got a do not disturb. We went through a couple
(01:40):
different ideas. We were going to do like a
Severance discussion episode because we were both watching
that, but for two reasons we didn't.
One, I still need Nick to edit this episode and I don't want to
spoil him on Severance. And we talked about doing like a
live action remake tier list, but that we realized they're all
(02:02):
kind of Garbo. And we still haven't seen Snow
White, but we will be talking about Snow White later.
We'll also be talking about the new Nintendo Direct and all
kinds of fun stuff. And it's going to be super
casual and super chill. We thank you so much for joining

Please tell me how's your week? You know, it has been so good.
I'm really, really happy to be here.
I can confirm you should sell your soul to the nerdiest
(02:45):
podcast. Yes, buy all their stuff.
Buy this awesome shirt. Do do all the things, do all the
things. But no, I've had a really good
week. It's been, it's been very slow,
but it's been very good. I've mostly just been enjoying
things as much as I can. A lot of good TV right now.
There is a lot of good TV right now.
We're going to get to that in just a minute, yes.
(03:08):
But overall, nothing too crazy man.
It's it's been super chill. Retail still really sucks.
Retail sucks, guys. Oh, yeah.
Well, hey, I'm glad you're here.Thank you for being here.
Of course. I mean, I've also had a very
slow week. It's been super chill.
But I'm grateful for a slow. A very slow week.
(03:31):
I watched a few things. Recently I watched The Water Boy
for the first time. The first time.
The first time. Oh wow, I've.
Never seen it. I would have loved to have seen
your reaction to the first viewing of Water Boy.
That's crazy. It is.
It is a movie. It is a movie.
(03:52):
Of all time. And I while watching it I kept
thinking this is so stupid. I thought this movie is awful,
why am I watching this? And I was trying to figure out
like why is this a classic? Like how do we get here?
And then it ended and I was like, that was pretty good and I
have not stopped thinking about it since.
(04:13):
You know, that is really interesting.
Yeah, like you bring up an interesting point too, about
like what, what we remember the most of like even really
terrible movies because. OK so this is very off topic and
and very pretentious but so if you know Thomas Flight.
I love you too. Dude, shout out to him.
(04:33):
Shout out Thomas Flight. Great video essays.
He just made one about severance.
Yes, yeah. And I was in the middle of
watching it on my like ride hometoday, and he brought out this
quote that's been sitting with me ever since I heard it.
And it was. Holding space.
I'm, I'm gonna like butcher it. But essentially what it was is
like, it doesn't matter the product that you've watched or
(04:55):
reviewed as a critic, all that matters is how you remember the
author of the work, how they view the world.
And I was like, that's so good. How the author of the work views
the world. Yes, and he was using it in
reference to the cinematography of Severance and how there have
been a collection of books that view corporate office work as
(05:19):
really hellish and. Awful.
But that is really. Interesting.
So I like, thank you for sharing.
Of course, I like that a lot. And I think it's interesting
because Waterboy on the surface isn't good.
It's actually really bad. Oh, it's terrible.
(05:40):
Even like cinematography wise and like writing, like it's,
it's really not that funny, but there's so many moments that
you're just like, what am I watching?
What is this? And I, my favorite part that I
keep thinking about is Henry Winkler when he's like, he's
(06:03):
like, when I was your age, my mom told me not to get a tattoo
of Roy Orbison. Well, Mama don't know, don't
hurt her. And then he just drops his pants
and it's his entire butt with a giant tattoo of Roy Orbison.
And I was like that it was that point of this movie that I was
like, what on earth is this? And I didn't realize how many
(06:26):
quotes from that movie. I know.
Even without. Like even.
Without knowing it was the moviebecause it was like, because I
know people who have always said, like, my entire life, I've
always heard Chu can do it. Chu can do it.
Yeah. And I was always like, I just
thought that was a thing. People said that's from the
Waterboy. That's Rob Shriner in the
(06:48):
Waterboy. He's crazy.
And I just heard Chu can do it. I also, I think the most
underrated line in that movie iswhen she's like Bobby, did they
ever find that gorilla that punched you in the face?
He said no, Mama. The search continues.
And it's just like, what? What were we smoking in 98?
(07:10):
Because also like that entire movie, he's definitely disabled.
Like he definitely has like somekind of like condition.
Like he's not all there mentallyand it's very clear.
And he's like, hey, guys, I justreally like water.
I'm gonna be the water boy for this team.
And they're like, literally killyourself.
(07:31):
And it's like, well, the whole time I felt so bad for him
because I was like, he just likes water.
Yeah. Like he's so chill.
Leave my autistic boy alone. He was just like, he's like,
that is some good quality H2O and then they're like, kill
yourself. I was like, jeez.
(07:52):
So anyway, bullying is funny, apparently.
Yeah, that. One, that's what the late 90s
will tell. You for sure.
So anyway, I watched that. That was an experience.
It's my my my statement on the waterboy I'm sure you've all
been with. Dying to know.
Dying to know, I'm sure, is thatit's one of those movies that
(08:16):
you have to see once, but it will never be like my favorite
movie. It's like if I can like quoting
it to you and talking about how insane it is is more enjoyable
than watching it. Yeah.
And so that's how a lot of thoseold like comedy movies are.
(08:38):
So I watched that. The other thing I watched this
week and this was this was an experience was I went to the
theatre and I saw Black Bag, which is no one has heard of
this movie. Have you heard of this?
I have actually. Yeah, what do you know about
black bag? I know, I know.
It's about a guy that like Sims real hard for his wife and like
(09:01):
how it kind of saves the world. Yes, so that's that's pretty
much it. OK, cool.
So essentially I went in very blind.
It's new Steven Sonnenburg movie.
He he made all the oceans movies, if you don't know yes,
and has Michael Fassbender, CateBlanchett and like some other
(09:22):
good people, highly recommend. It was very good.
I gave it four stars. Like I loved it.
It was, it was 90 minutes. It did not overstay its welcome.
It knew exactly what it needed to be.
It did it and achieved it very well.
(09:43):
No, like the most noticeable part of it for me was the
editing. It was edited very well.
Like, noticeably well. Interesting.
And it was like, it was like they they only cut when they
needed to. No, that's so real.
Yes. Like I as an editor, I
completely get that. Yes, because the last movie I
(10:05):
ever watched that I thought like, wow, that was some really
good editing was, I don't know if you've seen it, but Whiplash.
I love Whiplash, right? That is a great movie, Damien.
Chazelle's icon. Yes, that was the last time I
remember watching a movie where I thought like, like, Dang, that
was some good editing. Right.
Because, and here's what's interesting about about editing,
(10:26):
and This is why the best editingOscar is literally like a sham,
is because best editing usually goes to most noticeable editing.
Yes. When in reality, the best
editing is the one you don't see.
Yeah. And it's like if the editing
puts you in a world to where youforget what you're watching is
(10:49):
fake, then it's good. And it's kind of like, and, and
I what I really liked about Blackbag was that it was a lot
of dialogue. It was very dialogue driven.
There was almost no action in itfor like a spy thriller, very
dialogue, very character driven. And I liked that a lot.
But because of that, there was alot of dialogue scenes.
(11:10):
But the dialogue scenes never felt long.
They never felt unnecessary. And every line revealed a new
piece of information. And, but more importantly on the
editing conversation was if you're doing a two shot and it's
shot reverse shot like at a dinner table and it's like back
(11:30):
and forth, it gets stale. But they would, there would be
times where they would sit on one person for a good like 45
seconds and there'd be like an entire conversation going on and
you never see the second person. But it was so like intentional,
like you knew why they were doing it.
And you're like, oh, I'm pickingup on all this stuff because
(11:51):
you're not cutting right, Right. And I just think that's such an
interesting lesson to learn fromfrom that because like, all
these, all the other, like if you watch like, short films or
YouTube videos and stuff like that, it's always like, well,
this person's talking, so I haveto show them.
Yeah. When it's like, genuinely, no.
Like, you're literally, there's no rules to editing.
(12:13):
Like you could do whatever you want.
Yeah. And that doesn't mean it's going
to be good, but you're right. Right, but you have the free
will to make those mistakes. The other last the last point on
Black Bag was that it had like ahalation to it, which if you
don't know hellation is you. Should know this too.
You should know that. Hey, you should know this too.
(12:33):
So hellation is a lighting effect that you can do in post
and it is essentially a filter that softens bright light
sources and disperses them. So essentially all of the
literally over the entire movie, any light source was super soft
(12:54):
and had like this glow to it. And it was really, really well
done in like these candlelight dinner scenes, which is where
most of the movie happens and their table is full of light and
it's just like this warm glow over the IT was gorgeous.
It was a gorgeous movie. Highly recommend.
But more importantly, this was the first movie that I saw in
(13:19):
the theater by myself. Really.
You went with no one else? That's crazy.
I have never been to a movie theater by myself, except for
this week. So how was that for you?
OK, let me give you the play by play.
We've got time. So essentially I had a free
Monday afternoon and that never happens.
(13:41):
I thought I don't have any school.
Like I genuinely don't have any school work.
I don't have any work for work work.
I was like, I know the rest of this week is going to be crazy.
And it has been. So I feel like I have to like,
take advantage of my restful Monday afternoon.
And I was like, cool. And I was kind of looking around
and the day before on that Sunday, I was just kind of like,
(14:05):
you know, when you're on your phone so much that you start
going to the most obscure apps because you're just so like,
Instagram isn't cool anymore. Like the fitness app, right?
I opened the Stocks app. Once you're like, what's the
weather in Sacramento? Like what?
What are we doing? Like just you should just get
(14:25):
off your photo. Yeah, go out, but.
Touch some grass. But so I was just kind of like
on my phone and I managed, I moved over to the app firm,
local movie theater, and I was just like looking, which they
have an app by the way. It's actually really nice.
Nice. But I realized there was 4
movies in the theater that I want to see because I wanted to
(14:47):
see Black Bag, I want to see Novocaine, I want to see Snow
White, and I want to see the newLooney Tunes movie which looks
phenomenal. I forgot about that.
Did not give me near enough promotion.
By the way, this is crap I hate.Warner Brothers so much.
Anyway, your movie theatre experience?
Yes, my movie theatre experience.
I could. We've done entire episodes of
how much we hate Warner Brothers.
(15:08):
So I was like, am I about to? Am I about to do?
No, I'm not. I'm not about to go see no, this
crazy. Oh, what the heck.
So I felt like so bad. I was like, I'm so bad.
And literally, which is so funnybecause if Nick was here, he'd
be like, yeah, I have literally always see movies by myself.
(15:29):
Like he never like he always just goes after work and then
just like goes and sees like watches them.
Honestly, good for him and good for him.
That's awesome. If he has a group, he goes and
with the group. But if it's a movie that like he
just wants to see, he just goes and sees it.
It just like has the fearlessness to do it.
(15:49):
We should all be like. Nick, we should all be like Nick
in that way. In that way, let's.
Not get too crazy. Oh, there.
So I showed up to the movie theater and something about me
is I think I love supporting thelocal movie theater, but also
that does not mean that I'm paying for their snacks.
So no. That's so real.
(16:11):
So I had, but it was also warm outside, so I was wearing my
shorts and they don't really have like the best pockets.
So I had my water bottle and then my thermos for coffee.
And I this thermos follows me everywhere and it always has
coffee in it, right? And I was like, and a bag of
like, like peanut butter crackers, like in my pockets,
(16:33):
but I didn't really have space. So did you stick them up your
butt? In my prison wallet?
No, I no. So I was thinking I was like,
man, if I had cargo pants, it would be really easy.
But I just kind of like peanut butter crackers were in there
and I was like, this theater is really chill.
They usually don't care. So I just carry my water bottle,
(16:55):
my thermosin, and I got the ticket and whatever.
And she was like, and I was like, I just need one for black
bag. And she said, yeah, she said I
can do that, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave your
drink outside. And I was like, OK.
OK, that's fine. That's what I did.
I went to the car. Keep in mind, I had my water
(17:16):
bottle, my thermos, and my peanut butter crackers.
My peanut butter crackers were in my pocket.
I took my water bottle and my thermos back to the car and I
left my water bottle in there. I made that sacrifice and then I
took my thermos and I shoved it in my pocket and it was, I kid
you not, like you could look at the security footage like it
(17:38):
probably looked like I had a pipe bomb.
Like it was like it was like a cylinder, like a giant cylinder
bulging out of the side of my pants.
That came out so wrong. I did not.
That is not what I meant to say.I'm sorry Nick.
(18:01):
Nick has to edit this. It is already really unhinged.
I'm sorry you brought the black bag into black.
Oh PG show guys. Anyway, I'm sorry there are
children. Watch.
This is a children's program, sobulging cylinder coming out of
my pants, right? Barbecue sauce.
(18:25):
So there I was. BBQ sauce.
So and then I just kind of, I pulled that.
I pulled the move where I stuck my hand in my pocket with it to
look like it was just my hand, but it was very clearly not.
Yeah, you just look like you have a really large.
Hand and I brought it in and it worked.
I just walked right in. She wasn't looking and so I sat
down. Can I just tell you it was
(18:46):
delightful? Good.
It was wonderful. That's so good.
I I will tell like I say this infull sincerity, I felt like it
was the first time this year that I wasn't needed by someone.
Wow. I was in that theater and it was
90 minutes. It wasn't like I wasted my whole
afternoon or anything. Like it was just like 90
(19:08):
minutes. My phone was off.
I'm not wearing my Apple Watch. I like, I got my coffee and I
got my peanut butter crackers and it's me and this random old
couple watching Black Bag. And it was a great movie.
And I was just like, I literallyleft the theater.
And you know when you leave the theater and you just get like
hit by that sunshine, I was like, this is the move.
(19:31):
Solo movie afternoons are the move.
Yeah, no, they really are. This is revolutionary to me.
Are you a solo movie goer or is this?
See, OK, so I've done it. I've done it once while I was in
college and I for the life of meI cannot remember what movie it
was, but I do remember a similarexperience that I had with a
(19:56):
friend of mine. We went and saw what was.
It was one of those found footage movies.
Oh yeah, like Blair Witch type. Yeah, but it it wasn't like it
wasn't terribly scary. It was more of a thriller.
I can't, I cannot remember what it was.
Is that in Gatlinburg? No, no, that was different.
That was Monster House, which was also or not not Monster
(20:19):
house. Monster Monster Summer.
Monster summer. Yes, Monster Summer, which is a
wild movie. My my letterbox review is that
it was scarier than long legs. It's like APG rated movie.
It had what's his name? The the Christian director, the
(20:40):
guy, the guy who did the Passionof the Christ.
I know who you're talking about.Mel Gibson.
Mel Gibson. Yeah, he was in it.
That was really random. He played like this grumpy old
dude and there were like a bunchof like supporting character
kids and. And they they clearly wanted to
do like Stranger Things with that movie, but then they just
(21:00):
kept going back to like this Disney Channel S kind of thing
where they would cut and it would like be these horrendous
special effects that were like, like TV movie quality bad.
IMovie. Yeah.
No, Literally. But what was the other movie?
Yeah, that was the one you were thinking of.
The other movie was this one. It was a found footage.
(21:22):
And I'll say it was actually really, really fun to watch.
Yeah. And I'm not like a big horror
movie guy, right. And the reason I bring this up
in the 1st place is because whenwhen I went, we went at like
8:00 or 9:00 at night. Yeah, it was super late and we
were the only ones in the theater.
So that is peak like movie like horror movie experience like.
(21:43):
And, and there's a reveal that happens like about 30 minutes in
where the main character has like, she thinks her parents are
on like a vacation, right? And so her mom, like she keeps
sending like text messages and you see like photos of the mom
and the dad. And but there's a really clever
trick that they use where you find out that the mom has never
(22:03):
actually been away on the vacation.
And the photos that she took hadher face obscured in every
single one. But they never revealed that
until like halfway. And so we just had this biggest
shoot. My gosh, we were screaming in
the. Theater when that happened, but
it was just you. It was just us.
(22:24):
And so in like a weird way, it'sreally cathartic to go and
watch, especially like a like a fun, like unfolding kind of
movie. It's really, really fun to watch
that. And I'm honestly kind of envious
because I I wanted to see that movie.
Anyway, yes it's really good. Highly recommend guys.
Solo movie afternoon is the moveso elephant in the room.
(22:49):
Yes. Is that the Severance finale was
two weeks ago as of no, like a week and a half ago.
When this releases, yeah, we will not be spoiling anything.
There will be no Severance spoilers in this episode.
But this is like the show on TV right now or what?
(23:12):
Like it's over. I'm reeling.
I know I'd like. I'm still thinking it's like on
no. Right.
I would literally because it's Friday and I was like, oh,
shoot, I got to go watch the. Oh, it was so sad.
Yeah. So no spoilers, but it'll be
like an if you know, you know. Yeah.
So I feel like my reaction was that first of all, if you've
(23:36):
seen the finale, the ending, like the very, very ending, at
first I was literally standing up because I was so mad it was
happened. I watched it unfold and I stood
up and I was like, no, I literally said that's a terrible
idea. I thought this is the stupidest
(23:57):
decision ever made in TVI hate this.
I thought I was literally, I waslike, this is a terrible
direction for the show. I was like, I don't like this at
all. Interesting.
And I was so pissed. And I was like, no, I can't.
I'm not doing this. Yeah.
And then I went and I did homework and I couldn't focus.
And I was like getting, I actually got a lot done.
But then like 30 minutes later, I was like, that was the best
(24:23):
episode of television I've ever seen.
I was like, that is brilliant. And I think, I think I was
annoyed because I realized they got me.
Yeah, I got the they. I did the reaction they wanted.
You did exactly what they wanted.
Yes. And I was like, Dad gum it
because I like to think that I'mlike smarter than that or like
(24:44):
I'm above the like standard, like audience reaction.
And I'm going to be a little more thoughtful about it.
Right. Well, when you go to school for
it, you think you're like, you're like, yeah, no, I I get
it. Like I understand where they put
their key light, you know? Right.
No, literally. And like most people don't get
that. But then you get so invested.
Yes, and they did. Such a good job, such a good
(25:05):
job. And like, see, my thing was is
that once it ended, like the song that they had that that
song makes me cry. Yeah, have you heard that song
before? No.
Oh, OK. I I had only ever heard it in
the finale. And there's something really,
really beautiful about it. And again, no spoilers, but
(25:25):
this, there's this one scene in the end that I've seen so much
like fan art. Yeah.
And it's so, like, beautiful. It's beautiful.
It really is. How about the final frame?
Yeah. Yeah, like it's.
Gorgeous. Yeah.
And and the way that they switch, yes, like, Oh my gosh.
This is not a this is not a spoiler.
(25:46):
The final shot is like a long take and Ben Stiller talks about
it's crazy. They literally shot it all
digital and then transferred that last shot to film and then
had it like fade into film and then like this is also not a
spoiler. It's a freeze frame ending.
(26:06):
It's ends on a freeze frame, which is very like French
auteur, like, yeah, like French New Waves.
Yes, for sure. Yeah.
And so it's kind of like like there is some super, super niche
deep film making techniques happening on this Apple TV show.
No, exactly. Like, and I think that my I'm
(26:29):
I'm going to go into general thoughts and still no spoilers,
but I think that my general thought on Severance, now that
it's wrapped, thinking about it retrospectively the first two
seasons and they've been renewedfor season 3, which like, duh,
yeah. It's like a phenomenon.
My general thought is this is isthe new standard for television
(26:54):
and absolutely do you similar. The last time I felt like this
happened was and you guys are going to clown me for saying
this. It was Stranger Things.
Really. Season 1 of Stranger Things
specifically, because when season 1 of Stranger Things came
out, and I'll explain what I mean by this, yeah, it was such
(27:15):
a big deal that everything afterthat was just, oh, so it's like
Stranger Things. No, that's so real.
And so I think that we, and I'vebeen thinking about this like in
as film making, you are either doing in the style of or you're
making something that someone else will do in the style of.
(27:37):
Yeah, yeah. And severance is the style they
created a new style. They really did.
And now I feel like the next 10 years, we're just going to be
like, oh, so it's like Severance, but this.
Yeah. And we're gonna see this new
wave of, like, crappy remake. But I think on a broader, like,
(27:58):
to think about this as more of an intelligent conversation, you
could say. Like, I don't think audiences
are having these crappy streaming originals anymore.
No. Absolutely.
Not like we're we're they're bombing, they're doing terrible
and they're like not, we're not watching them.
And like Severance is proving, like if it's 2025 and your show
(28:20):
is not like Severance, you're dead.
Like you're toast. Like, no one's going to watch
it. Because we've learned.
We've learned that shows can respect our time and respect our
intelligence. So when they don't, we're not
going to have it. Yeah.
And we're just going to turn it off.
Yeah. So what's next?
(28:41):
Yeah, and that's, that's such aninteresting like conversation
because I've, I've wanted to talk about this with so many
people, but they, they often just don't care, which is fine.
But it's going based off of whatyou said, it's the, the
streaming era that we're in. You have to make a show that
like makes a promise to an audience, right?
(29:02):
You know, like you have to reachthis point by whatever date.
And you usually make it in the first episode.
And if it's a bit slow, you'll make it at like the, you know,
very end of that episode. And so they're in a difficult
position because they have to make something that's really
unique and really different if they want to stand out from
everyone else. But they also need to make
something that is familiar enough to make it like an
(29:25):
unfolding mystery. Yeah.
And. So there's a middle ground
that's like impossible. Yeah, genuinely.
And like the only one that has come along in recent years is
like Severance. Yes.
And, you know, you can make the argument that, you know, there
are shows like Succession or, you know, Better Call Saul or
whatever, and those are phenomenal TV shows, but they're
(29:48):
also based on like pre-existing ideas.
Yeah. You know, like Succession is
based off of like, what if Shakespeare was written in a
corporate office and filmed like.
The office, right? Right.
You know, it's like Better Call Saul was a prequel.
There's already so many ideas based off of something else.
And I think now with severance being its own thing, I, I
honestly can't wait to see what comes out.
(30:09):
Excited. Yeah, like some people might
view it as a negative thing, butI'm actually really excited to
see what they. Come out with and I think the
difference is like severance wassuch an original idea.
It was so different in in a verycreatively bankrupt media
landscape, Severance just like transcended that.
(30:31):
And I think the difference is when Stranger Things came out,
everyone was like, oh, I gotta get my Netflix back.
Like Stranger Things is coming and it's we were so invested in
it. But like you said, Stranger
Things was rooted in pre-existing ideas.
Yeah, Stranger Things was rootedin.
It's the 80s. Stranger Things was rooted in
those nostalgic elements. And even more like those
(30:55):
stereotypes of characters, you know, like the nerd, the jock,
the bully, the outcast, like everyone.
Right. And so the meanwhile, Severance
is quite literally redesigning the fundamentals of storytelling
because I ask you this question like personally, Yeah.
(31:16):
Is Mark one or two characters? She really feels like.
Two, right? Isn't that crazy?
But is he? Yeah, it there's a lot of
ethical implications. Yeah.
Like that's not something we've ever seen before.
No. And that's crazy.
Yeah. And so I'm really, I'm really
(31:37):
excited to see how that grows and like where we can go from
there. And I also need the new season
to come out like now tonight. Tonight, maybe, Ben Stiller,
your days are numbered. Apple TV the balls in your
court. Can I also say like they're
promotional and like behind the scenes stuff for Severance has
(32:00):
been gas. Dude, so good.
So much they've been like every episode gets its own mini doc
about like how it's made. And then they just did the the
balloon exhibition in London, which was really cool.
They just, I watched a really cool one where they, they talked
about the computers that they edited Severance on, which is so
nerdy and so niche and so like, why do you care about what
(32:24):
computer? But they literally had like a
remote workstation and they had,I think he said 8 editors with
four assistant editors. And it was just like, really,
what the heck? And they talked about the guy
that edited Episode 7, and he was like, he was like, yeah,
(32:44):
they gave us all this incrediblefootage and we were just like,
what on earth are we supposed todo with this?
And he was like, we just kind ofthrew it around an Avid and like
saw what we could do. But the end, of course, it's
Apple. So the whole point was like,
Severance is edited on iMac or like, yeah, it's like, it's the
end. It said like Severance is edited
on MacBook Studio, iMac and MacBook Pro and it was like all
(33:09):
their different machines that they use for.
So anyway, that's all of their like promotional stuff has been
crazy good. Be creative, but only with our
licensed toys, right? Isn't that the plot of Wally I
was? Going to say it was the plot of
the Lego Movie. That's so true.
OK. Would you like to touch on
anything before we slide into the news?
(33:33):
No. Okay, cool.
Yeah, go for it. All right.
So Nick isn't here to say it, soI'll do it for you.
Thank you. It's wiki, wiki Wow news time.
So guys, we got a couple big points to hit.
This is a very heavy, heavy Newsweek.
So the narrative we've been following for like this entire
(33:57):
season of this show, which is sofunny, is the Snow White movie.
And Oh my gosh, so Snow White movie is out.
Reviews are better than I thought they would be.
Really. I could pull it up.
The Rotten Tomatoes is not, like, awful.
(34:18):
Yeah, isn't it like 45 or something?
Yeah, which is like, that's likecars too, right?
That's like middle ground, yeah. Now granted, Rotten Tomatoes is
never trustable, but like the audience scores like 74.
Goodness. And so like, and a lot of people
I'm seeing that while like watchit on Letterbox and stuff,
(34:38):
they're giving it like 2 1/2 stars like which I'm like,
that's not good at all. No.
That's like below mediocre. Yeah.
But also it is officially the lowest rated movie on IMDb ever.
Ever. That's crazy.
(34:59):
It's at 1.5 out of 10. Which begs the question.
And we just said I haven't seen it and I'm gonna watch it.
I'm hoping to watch it next week.
It's just been too crazy. Yeah, I also like Loki.
Don't want to watch it. I'm just.
Like I have to. Drag myself to the movie
theater. This is one where you'll force
(35:21):
other people to go. With you, literally, I was like,
Amy, what are you doing Tuesday? So anyway, but the general
reviews I'm hearing is that likeRachel Ziegler's fine and like
she actually. Like.
Brings a lot of life to the character and like kind of gives
it her all. But that it may be Gal Gadot's
worst performance. And I beg the question I'm like
(35:46):
is the is the cultural implications surrounding Snow
White killing it unnecessarily? I mean, that's a really good
question. It's not an.
It's not something I can give you an answer for since I
haven't seen it and I and I honestly refuse to see.
It. Because and and this is like a
broader conversation about like the whole live action remake
(36:08):
thing, which has been talked about so much.
To death. And I, I, I have nothing new to
say about it, but I feel like this one just personally offends
me a little bit more than like maybe some other people as a
woman. In STEM as a woman in STEM
(36:31):
continue. But no, I mean, like genuinely,
it's it really is one of those movies that it it's very
existence feels like insulting to me.
Yes. You know, because because this
is like this isn't just a remakeof any Disney movie.
This is a remake of Snow White. Yeah.
You know, and, and we can talk to death about how, you know,
(36:54):
Walt Disney and whether or not he was a Nazi, you know, or
whatever. But like he as irrelevant.
Yeah, yeah. As a, as a creative, what he did
for the industry. He he is one of the most
important people in in the industry.
And I think it is a huge slap inthe face to not only your your
(37:14):
founder, but like someone who ispioneered animation, someone who
has given birth to so many jobs,so many opportunities.
Like my childhood was shaped around Disney, was shaped around
like Pixar and wanting to do allthose things.
And that wouldn't have been possible without his first step
and without him taking the massive risk that the original
(37:36):
was. And the fact that they're going,
you know what? We're out of money.
We're out of ideas. We can't hire anybody else.
We do it again. We gotta do it again.
We're circling back. Yeah.
And they're portraying it like it's adventurous, yes, like
we're doing what Walt would have, what Walt did back then,
but the modern equivalent, because it empowers women.
(37:58):
Yeah, But like, I'm sorry, but the original wasn't made to,
like, empower anybody. It was, it was a movie that
showed, like, technical aspects and proved that, like, an art
form could, like, carry a movie, right?
You know, And that was really important because animation is
still frowned upon, right? And like The Academy Is starting
to recognize, we're living. There.
(38:19):
It's it's really slow, but we'regetting there, right.
But that's taken 100 years. Literally, quite literally, 100
years. Yeah, no, you're you're right.
And that was, what's that? My first feature length animated
film. It was.
Guys, what are we doing? Also I just saw Gal Gadot got a
star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame which everyone is like
(38:42):
literally why? That's crazy.
Enough champagne to fill the dial.
As someone who's been down that, like walk, yeah, like, I'm not
sure you want to star on that sidewalk.
Like it's, it's booty ugly. Like, like there's, they're
crackheads. And like.
(39:03):
Burnout cigarettes. Oh, right.
It's, it's, it's bad. There's Carol Burnett.
And there's a man pooping. Average day in California,
(39:25):
you're just like, oh, my gosh, that's so true.
OK, yeah. Anyway, I'm going to try to go
see Snow White. We'll give you some actual
thought. We've literally, I don't think
we've ever talked about a movie. We've never seen more like,
there's so much to say without even seeing it.
(39:46):
Yeah. Next up is that there was
recently a Nintendo Direct out of nowhere.
They were like, yeah, by the way, Nintendo Direct tomorrow.
And we were like, oh, sick. And if you their tweet, I don't
know it verbatim, but it was essentially like TuneIn tomorrow
for a Nintendo Direct where we will be announcing.
(40:07):
It's like we'll be announcing our new release games through
2026. This presentation will have no
new information on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Interesting. And it was essentially like,
hey, we're doing a direct, but it's all games for Switch one,
even though Switch 2 is about tocome out.
(40:28):
Yeah, in like a few. Months in like a few months.
That's crazy. And everyone was like what?
Like why? Like what's the point?
And everyone was clowning this direct like why on earth would
they do this? One, Nintendo never plays by the
rules. That is no, that's so in their
character. But two, there was some great
stuff in this direct, So I'll just go through them because I'm
(40:51):
not like super in on all of those stuff.
So like Metroid Prime 4, beyond which?
I'm really excited. About that people.
Is this the one that's been in development since like 2015?
Yes. And like, I OK, I'm less excited
about the game because I'll be honest, I've never actually
played Metroid. I'm more excited at the fact
(41:12):
that Retro Studios is finally going to be free to work on
other things because they also work on the Donkey Kong games.
Yes. And like, those games are so
good. Yeah, like unironically, isn't
Donkey Kong Country coming to Switch to there's some, there's
some Donkey Kong thing coming toSwitch, I don't remember,
probably. I don't know.
Pokémon Legends Z to A? I'm not into pokey demon so I
(41:35):
don't. I'm not super into that but I
know a lot of people are really excited also.
I bathe on a regular basis. Thus, I'm not into Polygon.
Also this is an article from Polygon.
Everything announced at Nintendo's new Switch one
Nintendo Direct. Cuz Polygon is better than IGN.
I said it. And you'd be right for that.
(41:57):
Rhythm Heaven Groove got announced, which I have never
heard of this game ever. And everyone is freaking out.
Like Rhythm Heaven Groove is coming back.
And I was like, who? Like, So I don't know that.
Sure. Yeah.
I love like rhythm games. And so like, I might just give
it a shot because, like, rhythm games are my absolute jam.
(42:20):
Yeah, they announced this is really interesting and I want
your take on this is the Nintendo Switch Virtual Game
Cards. Yeah, fill me in on this because
I'm not sure I understand I. Watched their video and I still
don't fully understand. They're essentially.
So the main one of the main benefits of physical games is
(42:40):
you can share them with people. So if I buy Super Mario Bros
Wonder, yeah. And you say I'm considering
buying it, can I borrow your copy for a week to try it?
Yeah. And I say, and I say sure for,
you know, 10% interest. And so Logan can borrow my copy
of this. Well, when you buy digital
games, you can't do that, right? And so they're essentially
(43:05):
implementing a system on the Switch and the Switch too.
And as far as I'm concerned, it's gonna be cross compatible
to where when you buy a game digitally, it's instead of just
being a software upload, they'readding a new button to your menu
bar in the home. That's digital game cards.
And you can essentially build your library of digital game
(43:28):
cards and when you are connect, you can like connect to someone
else's switch and let them borrow the software.
Huh. Which is crazy.
Yeah. I I as far as I'm concerned you
need switch online maybe, And I think you need to be like.
(43:50):
I'm pretty sure you can only do it between like two different
switches. Interesting.
I may be misinterpreting that. They did like a 3 minute video
that was really confusing. Yeah, I still don't fully
understand what it is. Yeah.
So it's essentially Long story short, they're trying to let you
(44:12):
share digital games. OK, How do we feel?
OK, so on one hand, I think it'sreally cool that Nintendo's
trying to be more like, I guess, inclusive.
But I. I'm going to be inclusive to
what's the. To like poor people like I
what's? The what's what's a nice way to
(44:35):
say this? What is what is an offensive
word you could call someone thatbuys media digitally Because as
like a physical media snob, likeI need a way to offend these
people. Let me meditate on that.
One, let me get back to a digi. I don't know about that one.
(45:02):
Freaking diggies. Anyway, I'm not going to
elaborate on that one. Anyway, yeah, the switch.
Yeah, shoot. Digital.
Yeah, yeah. Being inclusive.
Yeah, that to me it's, it's weird because like, I don't
(45:25):
know, one of the first thing that one of the first things
that they'll tell you in sales is that you sell like you tell
people a problem and then you sell them the solution.
Yeah, Shark Tank. What?
What? Problem did we have, like,
beforehand, you know? Yeah, like, quite honestly.
Because to me, it just seems like another reason for you to
(45:45):
buy Nintendo Switch Online, if that is needed.
Yeah. Which I'll be honest, that's
Nintendo kind of bugs me becauseI love them, as with their
games. Yeah, but they, like you said,
they don't play by the rules andthey do not know how to run a
business. Yeah, like at all.
Yeah. But they make some pretty good.
(46:06):
Video games. They make some.
Great games, and that's what kept them in business.
Yeah. But yeah, I don't know.
That just seems odd. There seems to be no motivation
or understanding of why they would do this, because there's
no problem, you know what I mean?
Yeah, I'm kind of in the. I kind of in the same boat where
I'm like, if you are in a position where you want to share
(46:30):
your games and you want to do that, you're buying physically.
Yeah, No one is buying all of their games digitally.
Thinking if only I could share these with my friends, right?
The only scenario I could find this useful is if you just
genuinely really prefer digital games and there are people I
like. I know people that are like
super like solid digital. Yeah.
(46:54):
If you just really prefer that and you're a household with
multiple switches. So like my family, like I have a
family of six and then and then two of us moved, so it's a
family of four at home. So like my younger siblings grew
up with the switch and now they have their own switches as like
new ones have come out and they've become a little cheaper.
It's kind of like, it's kind of turning into like an iPhone or
(47:16):
it's like everyone has their owniPhone, but like they have their
own switches. But they, they sometimes they'll
pool their money to get a game because they're, you know, 13
and like 10 or whatever, though I don't, I don't know.
I actually think they're like 15and like 13, but I just don't
like to think about that anyway.Severance came out a week.
(47:40):
Ago it came out a week ago. Feel old yet?
But they kind like sometimes they'll share games, but this
does not solve any of the issuesthat you get when sharing games.
And it's like, because it's not like you can both play Super
(48:00):
Mario Bros with this situation. Like, because I'm kind of
thinking it's like if we have one Breath of the Wild cartridge
between the two of us and we both want to play at the same
time, this doesn't solve that issue.
No, and it also feels like a really weird step for a Nintendo
not to keep releasing physical media because they already did
(48:22):
that with the what was it, the Super Mario like 3D bundle?
Yeah, where it was like, this isonly going to be available for
like a year. Or something like that.
All digital. Yeah, which I I definitely
snagged one because, like, I love those games for sure, but
that just felt really weird. Yeah.
To have Nintendo be like, yeah, no, we're not going to keep this
on the shelf. I'm like, right?
(48:43):
Well, the only thing that I could think of that maybe this
would be helpful for is say likeall of my friends all have
different Jack Box packages. Like maybe we could pool all of
our Jack Box games so that we'renot swapping consoles.
(49:03):
See, that's smart. But the other?
Thing is, if you can only do it with one other switch, why does
it exist? It's not like me and my wife
both have Switches and we're trying to decide who gets to
play Mario Kart that night. Like this isn't like you said,
like this is a solution to a nonexistent problem.
(49:23):
Yeah. Like why?
Yeah. Anyway, I also just hate the
whole like, the the future is digital thing.
But yeah, anyway, it's just weird.
Yeah. I don't maybe we'll get some up,
some, like, clarification on it that'll make it like make more
sense. But like, the whole thing is
just very confusing. Yeah.
It's it's a little. Odd.
And I'm like, if you want to share your games just by
physical, like it's not that deep, Yeah, Oh no.
(49:45):
But they have to sit on my shelf.
Oh no, I'm so sorry. Anyway.
Literally could not care less. So the next one that everyone is
freaking out about that I have never played, but I will play
now that it's coming to Switch and that's the Tomodachi life.
Living the dream Mees are back in a big way in the first new
(50:07):
Tomodachi life game in 10 years.That's.
Crazy. The Mees are back.
Yeah, not which. Is awesome.
That's so good. And like the modern
customization? Yes, that's gonna go so hard.
It's gonna go so hard. It's gonna be so good.
I did. Was not in on the Tomodachi life
trend because I didn't have a DSand I think there was a version
(50:27):
on the Wii. I think so.
They ported it to like everything.
Yeah, but I just like we went from Wii to Switch, like I never
had ADS. I never had like a Wii U like,
And when we had our Wii, I was too busy playing Mario Galaxy 2
to care about anything else or like Wii Sports.
Yeah. And so like.
Drowns out my parents divorce I'm just.
(50:50):
Kidding. I'm I'm just kidding.
My my dad is dead. I wish Nick was here.
He does such a good joke. He'd be like, I'm just kidding.
My dad was deported. Anyway, you can cut that if you
want. Talk to you in editing.
(51:11):
But yeah, I'm definitely going to pick this one up.
I'm excited. Like, I love the means.
This looks like a really fun, like, well done game.
Like, I'm excited. If it's Animal Crossing without
the really tedious crafting, like I'm totally.
Down. Yeah, let's do it.
The other thing that was interesting is they announced
Nintendo today, which is they'rereleasing a new app that aims to
(51:34):
make Nintendo news even more direct Good, good word play
called Nintendo today. It is a new smart device app
promises daily updates on all things Nintendo, the latest
news, videos and comics of your favorite Nintendo games and
characters from select franchises.
They are really, they're kind ofleaning into the App Store side
(51:54):
of this because they did the Nintendo music now they're doing
Nintendo today and then they kind of added like their chat
system through the app. It brings up an interesting
point. Do you think they're trying to
like, because you talked about it before where like the
Switches were going to become like iPhones?
Yeah. Do you think that's what they're
trying to do is like creating less of a game system and more
(52:15):
like a portable PC? I feel like it's possible, yeah.
I feel like that is not like outside of the realm of
possibility based on the trajectory they're going, yeah,
for that kind of thing. And almost like, in a weird way,
they're creating like a Nintendoecosystem where it's like, oh, I
have Nintendo on my phone, but then I have Nintendo on my like,
(52:36):
I can bring my Switch. Yeah.
But also, like, side tangent, but like, can you bring your
Switch? Like, is the Switch really that
portable? Like if you pull out your PSP in
the grocery store, like no one cares.
But like you pull out a Switch like at the bank like people are
like dude iPad baby like he can't stay off his Mario Kart
(52:57):
for like 2 minutes. I can't wait for the commercial
for the Switch too. Like you remember that one they
did for the first Switch where it's like the the girl saw like
people partying on a rooftop andshe was like she was like
playing Mario Odyssey and she was like, somebody will join.
I'm going. To go join the nose, Literally,
she's like, oh, maybe they want to play Mario Odyssey.
And it's like, if you bring yourSwitch to my rooftop party, go
(53:20):
home. Like, is my rooftop party not
good enough? No, literally now that that
being said, like I love playing party games with people like
bring Jack Box, like bring MarioKart, bring Mario Party like
that. But if you're just bringing it
so you can sit there and play Mario Odyssey, like.
You're. Kind of missing the point, no?
Absolutely. Anyway, I think that's
(53:42):
interesting. Nothing else like huge Marvel
cosmic invasion which just like I don't know.
Sure. Sure.
I don't know what Marvel games are doing.
Dragon Quest one and two, HD and2D remake.
I don't know what that is. I don't know what that is.
I don't know what that is. I can't pronounce half of these
(54:02):
names. Disney Villains.
Cursed Cafe. That, that.
Oh, that's so cool. Get to know Disney villains like
Ursula and Gaston and serve themdrinks in Disney's games.
Dudes. Serve them drinks?
What on earth? No, this looks awful.
It's like a like a romance novel.
Yeah, no, literally it looks kind of like those, like those
(54:23):
really like crappy mobile games where?
Like you have to. Like Anyway, Story of Seasons,
Grand Bazaar, Shadow Labyrinth, which broke the eternal life of
Goldman, Gradius Origins, Rift of the Necro Dancer, Tomagachi
Plaza, Moment Valleys, everybodygolf Hotshots, every Nintendo
(54:49):
Direct. There's going to be like 3
things that's like yes. And then like 12 things that
you're like, all right. Sure.
Sure. I'm sure that's for someone,
yeah. Nintendo's really keeping like,
their 20 fans. Like, really?
Happy with? All these indie games.
They're like Hooray, which like I love indie games so like keep
them coming, but I yeah, I just like I don't have time to play
(55:13):
like 8 different like new indie games on switch like.
I have a job. No, right.
And also, like the Nintendo games are really good.
Like, I'd kind of rather just play Breath of the Wild.
No. Yeah.
So anyway, super interesting stuff.
And then apparently on their newNintendo Today app, which is
(55:35):
like the new the new news one, they announced the release date
for the Legend of Zelda movie, which they're like.
Finally, Hooray. So the Live Act, the live action
Legend of Zelda movie is releasing March 26th, 2027.
Nice, I mean, Not that I care. I mean, I'm going to go see it.
(55:57):
I'm curious to see what kind of teasers or trailers we get from
that and what the casting looks like.
Oh. OK, so I was gonna ask.
I haven't announced the casting yet.
OK, Yeah. There's a lot of speculation.
Yeah, that it's gonna be like Tom.
Tom Holland, yeah. Please don't.
Yeah, I know. I don't know who could play.
I mean, honestly, Link. And call me crazy, but I feel
(56:18):
like Link is kind of the uncastable character.
He is cuz he's supposed to be imprintable on anyone.
Yeah like you're supposed to relate to him cuz he's literally
a blank slate. Yeah, yeah.
Like he's, yeah, he's a like, I can't think of the word.
Like. A silent protagonist, that's
what I was. Thinking or in every man.
Yeah, I heard you. Blue collar worker, you know,
(56:40):
he's the kind of guy I want to get a beer with at the end of a
long day. But I don't drink.
I don't drink, so I won't be like Link.
How was your day? Yeah, me too, man, me too.
Those bacha blends bro. Was my link impression too much
(57:05):
for you? I just I've started picturing
like Lincoln other places. And.
It's like you imagine him on like Hot Ones and they're like,
so Calamity Gannon coming into your Kingdom, that must have
been like quite a shock to you. They're like, we're now turning
(57:30):
up the heat to our the last dab for link here Game over.
Oh my gosh, that was stupid random news.
Disney announced Coco 2. Why?
Oh. Yeah, sure, I guess.
Why not? It kind of ended perfectly.
(57:51):
Though, no, right. It's like, it's like it's kind
of a closed, close, close case like I.
Don't like that? I don't like that at all.
Yeah, that actually makes me really sad.
I love the I. Love Coco.
Yeah. Don't make another one.
They're so toast. Like they're, they're so good.
Like now granted they have, there has been internal releases
(58:12):
or like internal leaks that saidthat they're encouraging their
storytellers to be ready to adapt back to 2D because they're
essentially like, this is not working.
I mean. That's pretty cool.
Which is based, but if it I justdon't know if it's true because
it was all like internal leak anyway.
Coco 2, that's whatever. Yeah, the Minecraft movie is
(58:36):
next week as a recording the week this week if you're as
you're listening to this release.
I'm so excited, dude, I am so excited.
Yeah, and I kid you not, here's the thing.
I bought tickets today at the pre release showing pre release.
So Thursday night I will be there.
(58:58):
It's going to be great. And I kid you not.
Here's what's wild is when Linton steel Linton Steel
Chicken Jackie, it's just. The Nether.
Have you seen that YouTube videowhere it's like the Minecraft
trailer, but it's just him saying like very specific Linton
(59:19):
steel the nether. This is a crafting table Elitra.
It's like chicken Jackie, and it's just like, oh.
That's going to be the whole movie.
That's. Going to be the whole movie.
Literally. He's going to be explaining
things. This is an ender Pearl.
It's just. They do have an opportunity, if
they go that route, they have anopportunity to make a really
funny joke where he starts explaining everything and then
(59:42):
they get to Redstone and they'relike, So what is this doing?
It's like I have. I have no idea.
No idea. Well, this is the Redstone
comparator, which mean which which activates when you rotate
the item frame. This many times to have your
guys. I took a Redstone class in high
school. I'm dead serious.
Wait, really? No, I'm dead serious.
That's crazy. I'm not even joking.
I took a class. On Redstone.
(01:00:04):
On Redstone it was like like a course that's crazy.
Like there was like videos and then there was homework to build
Redstone if you didn't peak homeschool.
That is the most homeschool thing I've ever heard.
But man, can I do some Redstone.Take that, mom.
(01:00:25):
Take that mom. Suck it, dad.
But also, but also it's basic like thought.
Like it's like, what's the word I'm looking for?
It's like thought and reason andlike, it's like logic.
Yeah, it's logic and thought reason.
And it's like very tied to like coding in like Java and C plus.
And so anyway, Redstone class, I'm going to make this statement
(01:00:51):
boldly. I've done it a couple times, but
I'm going to do it again. You should know this too.
The Minecraft movie is going to be the best movie of 2025.
That's a bold claim. And I will stand by that
opinion. And if I am wrong, then nothing.
(01:01:11):
I'm not going to prove. I'm not going to promise to do
something. I'm not going to promise to do
anything if I'm wrong because it's more just like, I, I
believe it. I genuinely believe it.
I genuinely believe it. The Minecraft movie is going to
be hilarious. It's going to be surreal.
It's going to be weird. You mean to tell?
So everyone's clowning on this movie and they're like, Oh my
gosh, it's going to be so weird. They're so nervous about it.
(01:01:34):
And here's the thing, like live action is an interesting choice.
Like all this stuff, but hear meout.
Here's the thought. You are alive in the time to
where they gave the director of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho
Libre a Minecraft movie with Jack Black.
Yeah. Celebrate that moment.
(01:01:56):
No, for real. Like be exciting.
Good. Yeah, it's gonna.
Be crazy. It's gonna be weird.
Yeah, like I, I'm hype. No, it's actually, it looks
really good. And I've I've gone back and
forth so many times on this movie because when when the
teaser trailer first came out, Iwas like, man, this is dog.
Like this is awful but then the actual trailer came out and they
(01:02:16):
made the joke about yearning forthe mines and I was like if this
is the tone we're going for, might have to go see this.
One like son of a gun, I'm in. Yeah.
And and then like, whatever her name is, she ran over the
villager in her car. Yes.
And I was like, OK, if this is going to be the movie I'm kind
of down for No, for real. Because it because it feels
(01:02:39):
like, in a weird way, it feels like a continuation of like
YouTube skits. For sure.
And a lot of people have been dogging on this because they're
like, it should have been animated.
And I don't disagree with that. Yeah, I think it would have, if
they actually wanted to do something good, yeah, they would
probably. Or long term, yeah.
Then they would make it like a show or something.
But I really think at this pointwith these characters and doing
(01:03:03):
a skit like that, that's a celebration of YouTube for sure.
That's a celebration of how far Minecraft has come, literally.
And it's gonna be really fun gonna.
Be really funny. It's gonna be like really
surreal and bizarre and. Stupid.
Stupid. As if that's not what you grew
up watching on YouTube. Yeah, literally.
And I know, like, Dan TDM is gonna be there and like, like,
(01:03:26):
they're gonna make cameos and it's gonna be like, there he is.
Like, there's Dan. Yeah.
And I was like dog, like 10 yearold me would have been losing my
mind. Yeah.
I'm not going to criticize this movie.
No, I'm alive for the Minecraft movie like.
Come on, guys, be there. Be excited or be square.
(01:03:47):
Be square. Oh, that was good.
Thank you. That was good.
Be there and be square and be square.
Not banner. Why didn't they promote this
movie like that? Be there and be square.
I feel like they have. Did they?
I don't know. I feel like I'm not.
I've been paying attention. Yeah, I don't know.
I don't. I don't really need the movie to
(01:04:09):
market to me. No, literally, I know it's I'm
in, Yeah. They released the trailer, I'm
good. I didn't need it.
Final point and I'll just go over this really quick meme of
the week is Avengers Doomsday. Yeah, because Avengers Doomsday
is started production. It's 2026 release 7. 6 sounds
(01:04:30):
really. It's 2026, yeah, Which is
rapidly. Approaching.
Yeah, that's pretty. Soon like that feels way too
soon for another Avengers movie Yeah, but people are clowning it
because the there was such a bigcast, like a huge cast and.
There's rumor to be more. Yes, for sure.
Yeah. So they announced Chris
Hemsworth, Thor. Anthony Mackie is Captain
(01:04:50):
America. Vanessa Kirby is Susan Storm.
Paul Rudd is Ant Man. Florence Pugh is yelling,
yelling. Sorry.
Wyatt Russell is John Walker. I don't even know who this is.
That's Neymour. Neymour, Where is he from?
Black Panther 2. I fell asleep in that movie.
I think I fell asleep for his part, yeah.
(01:05:13):
He flew around in little like shoes.
Really. Yeah, he he had like these
little like what? Ankle bracelets.
Good guy. No, he's a villain and.
He's he in this movie? I mean, he's a Black Panther
villain. He's actually a Fantastic Four
villain, technically. OK, well he he simps for Sue
Storm all the time. OK, cool.
Anymore Chong Chi Bucky Barnes, Surrey slash The New Black
(01:05:38):
Panther. Yeah, The Thing.
Ben Grimm slash The Thing. The Beast, which I didn't
realize Kelsey Grammar was the beast.
That's crazy. Yeah.
Century, which I don't know who that is.
The new Falcon guy from Avengers.
Dooms or not from Captain America, Johnny Storm, Red
(01:06:00):
Guardian, Baku from also from Black Panther.
Ghost from Ant Man Loki for somereason.
Professor X is there. Sure.
Magneto is there. Nightcrawler, Mystique, Cyclops,
Gambit, Mr. Fantastic and RobertDowney Junior.
(01:06:22):
Good. Lord, it feels like a parody.
It feels like a parody. Doesn't this feel like an SNL
bit where the just the cast listkeeps going?
Yeah, it it kind of gives me energy from the Mario movie when
it was announced and they were like, yeah, Chris Pratt, Mario.
And it was like, what? It's like Chris Pratt, Anya
Taylor, Joy, CC Day, Seth Rogen. And it was just kind of like,
(01:06:48):
what are we doing? Yeah.
Like why are we here? These are all like comedians,
like, what are you doing? Yeah, anyway, I I'm stupid
concerned about that movie. I think cuz, cuz the Marvel
lineup is not terrible for for the like right now.
Like Thunderbolts doesn't look awful.
(01:07:08):
Fantastic Four doesn't look awful.
Yeah, they just released a poster for Toxic Avenger, which
I didn't realize they were doing.
No, I didn't know that one. Has Peter Dinklage, I think, and
he's really good. So yeah, we'll see.
But then they're like, yeah, we're reassembling the new
Avengers and it's like, but it'sbeen like a year.
Yeah, that that feels a little too late.
(01:07:30):
For me, yeah, or I'm sorry, too early, too early, Yeah.
Which also like we have to remember that like End Game came
out in like 2019. Yeah.
That was six years ago. And like every project since
then has come under like, mass criticism.
Yes, like no one is happy with the.
MCU We have been in in the dark age of MCU for six years.
(01:07:52):
Yeah. And now they're like, we're
bringing the The Avengers are back and Robert Downey Junior
and I'm like, Robert, RDJ can't save us.
That's how you know it's bad. Well, the crazy thing is, is
that he actually approached Marvel.
Yeah, he wanted to do it. Yeah, which is is crazy.
And I mean sure. I mean, I can't argue with more
money. The largest actor check in
history, by the way. Yeah.
(01:08:14):
Which what did he was it? I'm trying to remember what they
offered him to play Doctor Doom.Gosh, it must have.
Been it was like a couple 100 million.
Yeah. RDJ Doctor Doom paycheck do do
do do do. Robert Downey Junior is
reportedly set to earn over $100million for his role as Doctor
(01:08:37):
Doom in the upcoming. Goodness gracious Nelly just
make like 4 independent movies literally paycheck which also
sorry this is a side tangent. Have you seen this, the stuff
going on about the electric state on Netflix?
Oh, and that like, it's awful. Yes, how it's awful and it's a
$320 million movie. Oh my God.
(01:08:58):
And it was literally like the cost of that movie, which has
like a 14 on Rotten Tomatoes, literally cost what the last
like 8 best picture winners combine cost?
That's crazy. And it's just like, what are we
doing? We're throwing money at cinema,
No? And that's, and that's so weird
(01:09:18):
because I remember back like thelast movie that cost like that
much was Spider Man 3. That was the last movie that
cost like 2 or 300 million. Dollars no way home or the the.
No Toby's, Toby's Spider Man 3, really.
Yes, it cost like 250, three, $100 million, which back then.
That's a lot for back then. That's a lot of money.
(01:09:39):
I was thinking about Wicked. Not, not quite there.
And, and maybe it's like, I mean, obviously it's been thrown
around ever since, but at the time that was the most
expensive. Movie.
Yeah, for sure. And it was subject to like a
bunch of reshoots and, and for whatever reason, it's always
superhero things. It's always superheroes.
(01:09:59):
Yeah. Even like you're not consider
Wicked a superhero flick. Yeah.
I mean, she flies around, she does.
She has like her what's up danger moment where she goes
down. And the poster is literally.
Like 1 of like like what's up dangerous.
(01:10:25):
I'm sorry this episode. I was I'm exhausted today, guys,
this has been really unhinged. But hey, unless you have
anything else to add, I think that's our.
Yeah, I mean, God help us all with the.
Help us all with. The MCU because it's just oh,
it's painful, it's bad, it's hard to watch 01 other thing I
wanted to touch on before we before we leave Daredevil born
(01:10:47):
again. What a mixed bag really.
Yeah, fascinating. It's it's kind of been all over
the place and this and and it like keep in mind you should
know this too. I I love the first three seasons
of Daredevil that was on Netflix.
I didn't watch any of the other stuff like the Iron Fist or
Defenders or any of that. I just stuck with Daredevil
(01:11:11):
seasons 1 through 3. Literal 10 out of 10.
Yeah, if if you get the change, it's really good.
And it's honestly one of the only MCU projects that directly
reference like, Christianity. Yes, I've seen that too.
Yeah, I think that's crazy. Yeah.
Never knew that. Yeah, it's actually really good
and, and, and like, without spoiling anything, Matt has this
(01:11:32):
like crazy crisis of faith in season 3 and it's honestly, it
helped me. With some.
With some crisis of faith that I've had, it's that good.
Interesting. I love Season 3, and I was
really hoping that they were gonna pick back up after that.
And unfortunately, due to a lot of reshoots and a lot of back
and forth, I knew the project was cooked when they didn't
(01:11:53):
bring back the original cast originally.
And then after that, after so much fan backlash and like early
reactions, Kevin Feige actually stepped in and he was like, Nah,
this ain't it. And he completely wiped the
project and fired everybody thatworked on it.
And then he completely started over.
Dang. So now we're sitting at this
point where we have like a 10 to13 episode season with the
(01:12:17):
original cast that's back. But spoilers, not all of them,
because if you know what happensin episode 1, there's there's
just a whole bunch of like weirdgrey area.
A lot of the characters aren't the same as they were.
They're rewriting them. There's some weird Canon issues.
And normally I don't like to be a stickler for this kind of
stuff because it makes me seem like just a total nerd, right?
(01:12:40):
But genuinely, it mattered. And this show was really
important. I think it was one of the best
MCU things. Yeah.
And for them to not so much ruinit, but just give it like a
really, really basic wash and then market it as if it was like
the second coming. It's it's really bad.
And I was disappointed with it. And I hope that with Season 2,
(01:13:01):
which was renewed, OK, that there is.
That's kind of surprising that they would try again for Season
2. Yeah, and they were, they
renewed it like right off the bat.
It seems like they had a plan then.
Like they were like, yeah, we'redoing this.
Like we're gonna go for it. Yeah.
Long story short, Nintendo's a little weird Minecraft movie is
(01:13:22):
the best movie of the year. Snow White is not.
Eat your green vegetables. Eat your green vegetables.
Mario's cooked, not Mario. Marvel.
Marvel is good. So sleepy.
Oh my gosh guys this episode is crazy.
This episode is very unhinged. Thank you for bearing with us.
