Speaker 1 (00:00):
Someone comes in and then let's just say that they
were here for a shoulder issue.
So they come in and they say, hey, I have this shoulder issue
and I'm like, for sure we canhelp you, but just remember that
your body's going to do thehealing.
We don't do the healing.
Your body knows how to fixitself.
So we start taking care of them, we start adjusting them this
is one of my favorite clients totake care of, by the way and so
she starts having aconversation with another client

(00:24):
and their family who's comingin, their friends.
She's a real stir for them andso they're chatting about her
results and she's like, yeah, myshoulder isn't bugging me
anymore.
I'm going to try to get myhusband in here.
And as she's out there talking, she had this realization that,
oh, I haven't taken mypreventative migraine medication
for like the last four weeks.

(00:45):
Like it's been sitting on mycountertop right by my sink and
I haven't even thought abouttaking it.
And I haven't had a migraineand I used to get multiple a
week.
And she's like that's sointeresting.
It didn't happen.
And so I started coming hereand getting adjusted.
So the question is, why is thatthe case?
It's not the case because wewanted to address her migraine.
She didn't even tell us thatshe had migraines.
But when we wake up the brain, the brain controls everything

(01:07):
more efficiently and her bodywill start to take care of
itself and reverse thosesymptoms.
Because symptoms are there totell us that there's a problem
and so much like if you're goingto drive a car and your check
engine light came on in your car.
I don't think anybody wouldjust be like let me just get a
piece of black tape, like ablack electrical tape, and just

(01:27):
stick it over the check enginelight.
Problem fixed Check enginelight's not on anymore.
That's not how it works.
Most doctors ignore the onesystem that controls every other
system, every cell, tissue, organ in your entire body, and
that is the nervous system.
And what I see often and againthere's no good, bad, right or
wrong right, it's just the frameof reference that you're

(01:47):
looking at the body through isthere are doctors out there in
the typical Western modelthere's a podiatrist and there's
someone who focuses on theknees and they're an orthopedist
and there's someone who focuseson the kidneys.
But the problem is that a lotof these specialties, when they
are trained, they're trainedjust in the system that they are
going to focus on.
So, while it's great to have aniche where I think a lot of

(02:11):
practitioners miss the boat andthis is holistic and otherwise
is that they don't look at thebody as a whole.
So what I think is critical isunderstanding and realizing that
the brain controls every cell, every tissue, every organ in the
entire body.
The body is designed tocommunicate with itself and

(02:32):
function in synchronicity withitself, and so if we just look
at the heart, for instance, andwe say, okay, hey, someone has
high blood pressure or they havearrhythmia or they have some
other issue with their heart, but we don't ask the question of
why is that there in the firstplace, and we get this like
reductionist, mechanisticapproach.

(02:52):
So what people often miss isthis idea of this vitalistic
approach that says the body isself-healing, self-regulating,
self-maintaining.
And when I say self-regulating,self-maintaining, what I mean
is that the whole system has towork together.
We can't piece out the parts.
So, for instance, if my bodyreleases stress hormones and we
think about what stress hormonesdo, the first two things stress

(03:15):
hormones are going to do isincrease heart rate, increase
blood pressure.
But I don't ever address whythe body was releasing stress
hormones to increase heart rateand increase blood pressure in
the first place, then I miss thecause.
If I go in and I look atsomeone and I say, oh yep, you
have constipation issues, let'sgive you this medication, or
let's do this surgery, or let'sdo this endoscopy or whatever

(03:37):
the thing is that they want todo but we don't address.
Well, why is the digestiveissue there in the first place?
Then again we miss the cause.
And so every time what we'relooking for in our office is
going back to how is the braincommunicating to every cell,
every tissue, every organ in theentire body?
And again, it's no one's fault,it's just a level of training

(04:01):
that people had.
And so I think it's sointeresting when I'll sit with
people who are neurologists orpeople who have been to
neurologists and they're likehow come nobody ever told me
that movement of the joints ofthe spine is what wakes up my
brain?
And it's because they have aspecific focus on looking at the
nervous system, but not theconnection between the spine and
the brain, or not theconnection between the muscles

(04:22):
and the set point of what thebrain is telling those muscles
to do in the first place.
And so, big picture again, itcomes down to are we addressing
symptoms?
Are we reducing the body downto pieces and parts and a
mechanistic approach?
Are we taking a more vitalisticapproach that would say the
body all works together.
It's self-healing,self-regulating,
self-maintaining.
When your brain and yournervous system communicate

(04:45):
properly with the rest of yourbody, your entire body will
change.
So if you think about the wayin which our body is organized,
every cell has to talk to everyother cell.
So our entire body needs toknow what everything else is
doing in order to stick togetherand work together as a team.

(05:05):
So we can't survive withoutthat.
So the brain and the nervoussystem are responsible for
orchestrating all that healing, all that communication.
So it's just a communicationhighway.
And so the way I see it is thatthe reason that our body heals
so much more efficiently whenthe brain is talking to the body
is because the brain controlsevery function in the system.

(05:30):
Very few people would link theirheadaches, their stress, their
pain, any issues that they'rehaving, to their nervous system,
Because most people think thatif I have digestive issues,
that's a digestive problem, it'sa problem with my stomach, If I
have headaches, it's a problemwith my head.

(05:50):
But all of those things cancome from a million different
places.
Like a digestive issue could bebecause the food you eat.
It could be because yournervous system's stressed out.
Remember that there's twobranches of the brain there's a
fight or flight branch, aprotection branch, and there's a
rest and digest branch keyworddigest.
So in fight or flight, we turnoff the digestive system, and so

(06:16):
when I sit with people and Ihave conversations with them, I
always ask the question.
I say okay, I know you havethese things going on that you
told me about, but is thereanything else you have going on,
even if you didn't thinkchiropractic care could help
with it?
And the reason that I askedthat question is because, if we
address the brain and we do agood job at it, everything else

(06:36):
should take care of itself, because the body knows how to
heal itself.
God gave us the gifts ofhealing and so, whether it's
headaches or digestive issues orpain or something else, if we
don't address the brain, we missthe cause.
And the cause is literally astressed out nervous system.
And what's so cool is like whenwe talk about stress

(06:59):
specifically if we have a stressthat we don't fight or run away
from our brain will let loosemore stress hormones in our
system, which will increase ourpain, will increase our issues.
So what I love this is why wetalk about the four Ps posture,
presence, productivity, profitis because when we're adjusting
people, part of what we're doingwith them is allowing them a

(07:21):
new capacity to deal with stress.
So their brain says I actuallydon't need to operate in a fight
or flight, protective teardownstate.
I need to operate in a rest anddigest, healing state, and to
see it happen all the time.
Like we have a.
I'll give you a perfect exampleof this.
We have a kiddo right now who is11 months old.

(07:41):
So his whole life he's hatedthe car seat.
It takes mom and dad wrestlinghim down to change his diaper.
Every time they have to changehis diaper and you and I both
know littles.
We're changing diapers multipletimes a day.
Lots of stress can't driveanywhere, and so they're
wondering like why is all thisLike?
He just seems so stressed outand he's only 10 months old.

(08:03):
So we started adjusting him andthey're taking trips to see
their family up in RanchoCucamonga, where they couldn't
take those trips before.
They're not able, they don'thave to wrestle him as much to
change his diaper.
He's laying on his back on hisown now.
So like, why is that the case?
It's not the case because wedid something special to him,
but he had so much stress in hissystem that it put him in a

(08:25):
fight or flight state and he wasresistant to being in like a
more relaxed state on his back, whatever.
And so again we're justaddressing how is the brain
operating at a hundred percentin fight or flight or rest and
digest?
When I was in chiropracticschool so I was still a student
and I was working with a girlwho was diagnosed with stage

(08:48):
four kidney cancer for thesecond time, 24 years old.
Her nickname is Chachi.
So Chachi started coming to seeme because one of her friends
who was also in chiropracticschool with me is like you just
should probably like trychiropractic care and see Daniel
in clinic and he'll get you setup and it'll probably help with
your back.
So when I meet her I find outshe'd had all this trauma stage

(09:10):
four kidney cancer diagnosed forthe second time.
So she was told two years priorthat she was in complete
remission.
She was all good, she washealed, and then she woke up in
morning peeing blood anddebilitating low back pain.
So this is someone, like I said, 24 years old.
Her favorite things were toread and write poetry.
Couldn't sit, like, long enoughto even sit and read, and like

(09:30):
she had to be flat on her backin bed or she was so
uncomfortable so like, difficultto read, couldn't write at all,
couldn't go to work so like, lost her job.
She just had all this stressand all this trauma.
So we start working with herand the cool thing so one
adjustment that I did not touchher low back, I just touched her
upper neck.
So one adjustment that I didnot touch her low back, I just
touched her upper neck.
Back pain 90% gone from onesession.

(09:51):
So fast forward.
She's seeing me multiple timesa week but she's also seeing her
other specialists for hercancer and they're giving her
medications and doing all thestuff, but pretty quickly.
She's like, hey, I'm not gonnabe able to come in today because
I have to go get more bloodtests.
And then she's like, hey, I'mnot going to be able to come in
today because I have to go getmore blood tests.
And then she's like I don'tknow why, but they're having me
order more blood tests.
So she starts missing all thesevisits and I'm like, hey, tell

(10:13):
me what's going on.
And she's like I don't know,they won't tell me, but they're
all confused about my blood workand I'm like what do you mean?
And she's like but they can'tfigure out why.
So they just want to keeptaking more blood.
So she's doing all these bloodwork, she's doing all this stuff
and meanwhile she's gettingadjusted.
The only thing I changed withher she was drinking like eight
cups of coffee a day.

(10:34):
She's just completely tankedand so I said we got to stop
drinking so much coffee becausewe got to take it easy on your
kidneys.
Let's go down to a week.
So in three months she goesfrom stage four kidney cancer.
The only option is to.
She's on the kidney removal list, transplant list, and she's
like I hope I get this kidney.

(10:54):
That's a whole conversationbasically every time.
They start doing all this bloodwork with her and finally they
get to the point where they'relike hey, we have this
specialist in New Jersey.
Your body somehow, miraculously, has walled off this tumor on
your kidney and we don't need toremove it.
We can actually go in.
There's only one person at thattime, who could do this surgery
, I guess?
And so she ended up going toNew Jersey to get this tumor

(11:16):
removed off of her kidney anddidn't have to be on the
transplant list.
So if we go, stage four cancerrenal carcinoma to body,
completely walling it off, that's probably the craziest
thing that I've experienced, andthe best part about that whole
thing is I wrote and published athe case study of her, of
exactly what happened with herand exactly what we did, and

(11:39):
while the claim in the casestudy is not that we cured her
cancer again, it's justimproving her quality of life
and getting her to a place whereum otherwise have been, which
is pretty cool.
That's the power of the body, though, you know, and it's like
it.
Literally anything is possibleon a long enough timeline.
If you give the body the righttools to heal itself, anything

(12:01):
is possible.
All we do is wake up the brain, and when the brain is
functioning at 100, the bodyfunctions at 100.
It's so simple.
