Speaker 4 (00:31):

Speaker 1 (00:33):

give me a recap. What you thinking, But let's start
with that game. Give me your thoughts of the raven
Is Bill's game.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
I'm gonna be real quick first or foremost you turnovers
is the key.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
True.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I was upset with the boy number eight, Lamar Jackson
with a couple.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
He made a bad throw.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Maybe him and his receiver wasn't on the right page,
and but more importantly the fumble. But real, listically, I
know one player, one player never lost you that game,
but some players in some players can be destrimental to
you in winning the game.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
True, and the tight end uh Andrews or whatever that's
the name.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Andrews right, and very very disappointed in his play, but
more importantly disappointed in how he handled the situation after
the game.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Coming in. I get it right away. You don't want
to do no press conference or you don't want to
talk to the media.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Hey, I get that, But that next day when you're
doing locker clean out and stuff like that, you still
don't talk to the media. I have a problem with
that because I'm your teammate, and so I gotta answer
them stupid ask questions or now you know what I mean,
because if you would have caught the ball, you would
have you would enjoyed and you would have appreciated all
the attention you was getting.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
So what I'm saying is, let me see how you
as a as a leader.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Let me see how you staying ten toes down when
the odds was against you and things.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Ain't right right. Let me see how you handle.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
That's how you that's how you, that's how you reflect,
that's how you change the attitude and the culture in
the locker.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
So what you right?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
I did drop the ball. That was That's on me.
I'm a stand up and no, I wasn't on Lamar.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
I wasn't. No, I did that. That's my fault.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
But I'm gonna come back next year and I guarantee
you I'm gonna have to you know, such and such
and such or whatever the case may be.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
That was very disappointed.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
I thought that was was overall being a coward tramp
to the point where I got about Lamar. With Lamar done, did,
I'm focusing in on Shorty and Shorty man, man, I.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Don't don't want to play with her.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah, yeah, nah don't want to play with And be
honest with you, Baltimore need to let him go anyway
because he getting ready to be a cat casualty against y'all.
And y'all got that young boy number eighty that can flat.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Out lively yeah, yeah, lively lie.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
He not.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
He's shorthanded too.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
He not. And he can do more, yeah, and he
can do more. He not. Only thing Andrew's verty better
than him and his blocking.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
So yeah, that was my recap as far as the
Washington left hand.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Up, who are we dunckle man, you know? And look,
oh dog, you know our blood line, O family by birth.
He supposed to be Washington fans, you know, no, no question,
I been, and I was. I was at Redskin fan,
but I never was a Washington football team or Commanders

(04:02):
fan before this next week or two since non since
my Ravens goal. Hey, James and Daniel, it's my man.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Uh And two more opinions I want you to get
before we bring in our special guest today. What's your
thoughts on on the narrative that Kansas City is getting
a lot of helps from a referee to win some
of these.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
What they did? You know?

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Two of those, two of those, two of those calls,
especially the one call, the first one or the second
one when the two with the two kids defensive players
wind up hitting each other. Yeah, they see see we
as a team called we gotta know we're playing against Kansas.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
City and the REP. We make it close.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
We can't let it come to we can't let it
come down to a call like that. If I fuck
up and I make a mistake and I get a
targeting penalty. I'm coming right back and I'm making.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
A pluck right, you know.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
So I just think that, yes, they are getting some calls,
but when you the man in the NFL want to
see Patrick mahomes and you can't see the chief do
something that ain't never been done before. Yeah, hasn't been
done in a while. Yeah, A three pet right, of
course they gonna want to see that. So yeah, real simple,
real simple. Yeah, that's what's going on. Same way Mike

(05:28):
used to get calls, Magic used to get called, Larry
Birr used to get caught. True, you mean we gotta
keep this. It's a machine guing true.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
True. If Patrick mahons the face of the of the
lead period.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah, and what about what you what you feel about
Saint Kwon Barkley's performance in his division round and what
you think Philly's chances are making the super Bowl?

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Left hand duck? Who are we mand do?

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (06:01):
No?

Speaker 2 (06:01):
I I love what Saquon doing.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Man, he seems like he is the ultimate teammate.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
And just happy for him because sometimes people don't understand
he got written off and said he was this and
selfish and this this and this and sometimes people don't
know what's going on behind the scenes. So to see
him having success he's having, see him having the season
he is having.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Man, that's awesome. That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Only thing I think the only thing I had a
problem with Sau I would have loved for him to
try to go for the go for the record.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
But oh yeah, I would like to see that too, But.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
It's working out. It's working out for him.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
So hey, with that being said, man, like I said, uh,
congratulations to those teams, and uh once again, Lamar Jackson
is in Cabo, and Ravens is in Cabo with Joe
Burrow and then then Cabo.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
You know what I'm saying, Hey, Hey, shout out to
my Baltimore Ravens. To Lamar Jackson, Man, keep your head up,
you know what I'm saying, Andrews. Yeah, you can't win
with guys like that. Let's let's go ahead, get that

(07:15):
third m VP and try to get every p of
the Pro Bowl, fucking.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Every peer the flag Football Pro League. Yeah, yeah, I got.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
You, all right?

Speaker 1 (07:26):
He look oh dog? You know always you know my
my my favorite shows is when we have a special
guest on you know what I'm saying, I love for
our viewers and listeners to get a chance to see
guests come on, get to learn more about them that
they may didn't know originally, and just the vibe boat Man.
So today our special guest this evening, there's a legend

(07:49):
from the from Xavier University where he made the Atlantic
tim Or Rookie team. He was a three time All
Atlantic ten team. He was a two time Atlantic ten
Attorney team. He scored eight hundred and eighty five total points,
and he was inducted into the Xavier University Hall of Fame. So,

(08:12):
without due, I want to introduce my man from x U,
Lenny Brown. Hey, man, I appreciate I see you.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
He Hey, letty before you get going, man, hey, hey
called man, press mute on that goddamn sound back then, Man.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
You're right, You're right, You're right.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Hey, Oh Lindy, you see we keep it foggy man.
We ain't love it him, you know, fogy Man. You
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Hey, hey, yo, actual before we get started. Yes, sir,
why yo you hard on Mark and juice? He a
pro bowler man.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
You know why? You know why?

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Because and sow you right here, pro bowler and here captain,
and sometimes I need you to. I need you to
be that captain and that pro bowler, not necessarily on
the field, but in that situation in life is hard
on you, you know what I'm saying, And you going
through the worst ship part. That's when I need you

(09:16):
to be a pro bowler because my young boys is looking.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Up to you.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
I agree, right, So if my young boy, if I'm
looking up, if I'm if I'm the if I'm the
next one up, and I see him doing that ship,
I'm like, man, fuck that, I ain't gotta do it.
You see what I'm saying. Some of the hardest stuff
that we did when I mess around. A quick story,
I ran into the kicker one time and lost the games.
I supposed to be the scoop and score guy. My

(09:42):
dumb ass trying to go block the kid. Well, they
blamed it on someone else. First thing I did in
the media when we got back into practice that next
Monday or Tuesday, Oh look, that was my fault. I
did such and such. That was my fault, not you
know whoever. And just for him. Now I need you
just where do you stand when when times is tough

(10:05):
and you're going through adversion, Yes, sir, why could be
a pro bowler when ships smooth?

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (10:11):
That that that key word accountability got up here in
my office. Accountability accept responsibility for your actions, being accountable
for your results, and take ownership for your mistakes.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
That's all that. You know, we're gonna rock with them.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
But god damn you, I didn't know he.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Didn't talk to media until you said that. That's what
That's why I was on my mind. That's why I
wanted to ask.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
He still hasn't today, today, Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Nothing. So that's all I'm That's that's the.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Reason why I'm okay. I feel you all that.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Man.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Well, let's get right into it, because I know if
you listeners is anxious. So saying I just I just
listed a bunch of accolades. You know what I'm saying
you You you accomplished so much. You had an amazing
basketball career from high school all the way through through

(11:16):
professional basketball. But we like to start with the beginning,
like when did it start for you? Like who put
the ball in your hand? Who motivated you to want
to play?

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Who?

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Who did you?

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Who did you look up to?

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Oh man uh yo? Well, first of all. I know
a lot of people don't know a lot of players
where I'm from from Wilmington, Delaware, you know what I'm saying.
So I'm from Riverside, Riverside Projects, you know what I'm saying.
And uh, the first person that I looked up to
his name was Daryl Wolfy Chambers and you can google
his name. He just got a partner from Joe Biden,
you know what I'm saying. But he's been out for
a while, but he had got locked up on some

(11:52):
you know, some street ship. But now he's an advocate
for those you know what I'm saying. Now he getting
grants and all that. I mean, he's doing great, you
know what I'm saying. So he was the first one
that you know, I mean, let me know, man, Yo,
it's an avenue out besides, you know what I'm saying,
just what I see every day, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
And he hard, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
He was.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
He was that dude, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
For real, for really, I got a lot of my
mental toughness, you know what I'm saying, a lot of
things from him, you know what I'm saying. So I
got to give it up to him.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Salute the woofye Chambers. For sure, definitely that's what's up.
So So what age? What age did somebody put a
basketball in your hand? And then when when did you
finally realize that damn you know, I can use this
ball right here and it's gonna take me places.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
From about I say, from the seventh to the eighth
grade is when I've made my like I fell in
love with it, you know what I'm saying. I've seen
I can do something with it, and uh, whatever age
that is learned, the twelve to thirteen is age. You
know what I'm saying. That's when I start getting that
I can do something really with it, you know what
I'm saying. And like I said, I was looking up
to him and he's seen me, and he seen my aggressiveness,

(12:58):
you know what I'm saying. He was like a lot
of kids don't got that, man, a lot of kids
don't cut that. So and not just I listened to
everything you said about basketball, you know what I'm saying.
So I just I just felt though if I play aggressive,
I'll be okay, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, I
mean that's what it was.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
No question, no doubt. Growing up in Delaware, tell our
listeners and viewers and even me.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
I like to learn a little bit more about how
was the basketball culture there and with you and with
you guys being so close to Philly, did you.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Sometimes say, you know what, we're about to get on
this road. I'm about to.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Go up there and play with Sheid and such such
and such, and we were about to go gay them.
See you talk a little bit about talk a little
bit about that, you know, as far as you know
that Delaware and being so close to Philadelphia and stuff
like that.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Oh man, that was our biggest them in Chester, see Chester,
right before Philly. Okay, yeah, that's all. Okay, you know
what I'm saying. So they all really like twenty five minutes,
they like fifteen, you know what I'm saying. So Philly
is way bigger than that. So we always had to prove.
So they would bring teams down, you know what I'm saying.
The summers, just like y'all. I know y'all know, yeah, yeah,

(14:06):
commer tournaments, all that, boys and girls clubs, all that.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
It was always rival you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
And just and my thing was as soon as anybody
said somebody had a name, Oh that was such and
such he from Philly. Oh, my attitude is I'm going
straight at this nigga. I hated that, bro. I hated that.
I was like, who says this nigga is the best? Like,
just be, I don't care about.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
That because they come from because they come.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
From a bigger state. And it was worring to you
know what I'm saying. But that was just my what
was on my shoulder. That's how I want, like I had,
you should and I tell people, I tell I swear
to God, tell them these kids today that come from
here eating bones, holler. You know what I'm saying. He'll
tell you. We always had to prove ourselves way more
than every other state, you know what I'm saying. Only
one probably like us, is Rhode Island because.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
We're so small, so small.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think I can speak for old
Dog too, Lendy, because we come from the DMV area,
DC America, Virginia. So for us that's not directly in
the city. If we're on the Virginia side or the
Maryland side. When we all come together and play, we
had to prove ourselves so so so I feel you.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Like just because you lived fifteen minutes away from me,
so you tougher than me.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
That drove me. I'm telling you, that was my biggest thing.
I hated people that was right, that was.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Than me.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
We all got elbows.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
So so so let me ask somethingdy. So when you
go you go to hot so okay, so you said
middle school, middle school where you was? Did you automatically
what high school did you go to? And did you
was that like the quote unquote the basketball high school
or the area, or did you get recruited by Catholics
who you know or what?

Speaker 4 (16:01):
You just went to the local public school whatever.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
In Delaware. I don't know how it is where you're from,
but like in certain areas, certain kids back then went
to a certain school, public school. You choose where you
wanted to go back then, you know what I'm saying.
So if I grew up over this side, mostly everybody
going to this height.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
That's how it was. That's how I was with us.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
You went to your wherever you lived at, that's what
that's your Yeah, yeah, no moving.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Around man, whatever that is what they got now where
you can.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Okay, So yeah, that's what uh.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Uh, that's when me and Lunkin first, that's what our
first freshman year. Well, it was my sophomore year, his
freshman year.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Okay, nice, so so far, so far, viewers, viewers, and misters.
He referred to luncln Gary Luncin whether his backcourt teammate
at example un Yes, sir, and and they were high
school teammates, and they were considered as one of the
back courts. Is not the best back court.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
In the country.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah so so so Lenny kind
of walk us through your high school career. I know,
did you start as a freshman. Did it take you
a while to get your feet wet?

Speaker 3 (17:19):
I went in, I went in feet on the ground
first one. That's why I said I got I went
to high school.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
I was.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
I'm a year older than Lumpkin Gary, and so what
I'm saying, so when I went, I was, I was,
I was rough around the edges, you know what I'm saying.
So I got kicked out, you know what I'm saying.
My first my freshman I got kicked out. So and
I came back the next year. They was there, Lumpy
and I was there, you know what I'm saying. So
I was able to tone it down a little bit
and we got on our thing. You know what I'm saying.
We went on our journey, on your journey.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Yeah, that's so when you so you coming through high school,
my back home, you coming through high school, whatever the
case be, what what what made you or you know,
talk walk us through that process as far as you
picking Exavier, Like who was some of these other schools
that was recruiting you and who almost had you say, Man,
look Lenny, I know you're going to that, man, but

(18:10):
come on over here. The last was it any like
last second things or like any other schools that came
in in the picture and try to sneak you away
from Xavier when you come you know your your junior
and senior.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Year before I forget this thought. Like you said about
the high school. Before we got there, we never won
nothing in basketball. We was a football in wrestling school.
We won our first state championship. I won the first
basketball player of the Year. We won a lot of
first back at will Pay High School in basketball period.
You know what I'm saying, So shout out to that.
You know what I'm saying. We turned sure then when

(18:45):
I left will Penn, I had to go to prep school.
I went to the Main Central Institute MCI. Yeah, I
was up there.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Yeah. And you know what, and Lenny, I never knew that.
I kind of looked up some stuff for you.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
I know, we was cuting.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
Tell me this, What was you there with Kelly Taylor?

Speaker 3 (19:06):
Yeah? That's what, baby?

Speaker 4 (19:13):
What ain't Lenny?

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Where Man Man?

Speaker 4 (19:15):
Where is coach Max good Man?

Speaker 3 (19:18):
He cally bro Helly Yo, that's crazy, Yo. I love
I love him.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
I could for him. You could play for anybody in
the world.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Bron That basketball dormitory that was over when you're looking
at it was over there to the right.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
What the football? Look the football?

Speaker 2 (19:38):
I was one of the first classes to have because
they y'all only used to have basketball at first. So
they had a They had a high school football team,
but not a post graduate of football team.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
And coach TYR.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Rundle brought the football because him and Max good was friends.
So he got Tyed Rundel to come over there and
start a press. Man, come on, man gas walking to
the one gas. We had to get the state of
cheese one joint right there.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
They don't know. We thought it was off the hook.
When we went up to University of Maine up in
bang Moor.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
Look, I gotta keep it a hunter. One time we
went coach Goods.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
If I catch.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Going home.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Going home, I have never so so so when when
when I was there, I was there with shout out
to my man, Estherbuhn Weaver, I was.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
I was out there with a young boy, a little
point guard. Uh, I was out there.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Actually it was a it was a guard from Philly.
His name was Joe. I forgot Joe's last name. He
was from the Philly, uh, you know, Jersey area. He
he was up there as well, you know what I mean.
But Estherbu was that dude up there, that's the bomb.
I remember that name out of Columbus, Ohio. He was

(21:05):
a fucking monster. I remember that he coming. He that
motherfucker was shooting from the cafeteria you know me way back.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Oh he could do it left handed, smooth.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
But yeah, I went to m c I and look
Lenny and got kicked out.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
That's a whole that's a whole other story.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
But you we'll talk about another time.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Shout shout out to my fellow.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Yeah, the Huskies, Baby.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Look, I ain't know that man, that's crazy.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Was coming from the inner city going up there.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
You like, man, you put up to that little camping.
You like the gym.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Hey, look the gym down at the bottom of the
heel cafeteria in.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
The bottom of it to get the food.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Man, it was crazy walking across that part a lot
on the Saturday and and all the ain't no kids there,
and it's only you all manod some towns.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
But hey, one thing about Coach Max good And because Coach.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Max was the basketball I was the only football dude
that was that was a sort of alloud over there
in the dormitory and used to hang with the basketball team.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
Man.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
But I used to just kick it with Coach good Man.
I used to be like, man, coach Man, let me play.
He would not let me play at all, Lindy.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
You know.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
He used to make me do play defense on the guys,
on the guards and stuff.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
But that football player.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Yeah, yeah, man, he was Coach.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
Max good Man.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
He was a great dude.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
And he tell it like it is, so shout shout out,
shout out to you brothers. I know you, I know
how it is getting on that pay phone downstairs. Yeah
I touched the nerve, didn't Yeah, I got you.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Look.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
Look, only people who went to Press school know about that.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
I think.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
You know I want grade if you know? That was wow?

Speaker 4 (23:06):
Hey downstairs you already know. Shout out, shout out to
you for that though, Landy.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
So anyway, okay, so you go to so you leave
your high school and then you go to up the
m c I Pittsfield Main and then you leave Pittsville
and then.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Where was your I mean, you know, was you just
not a qualified?

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (23:29):
I was when I got kicked out my fresh that
first freshman year in high school actually senior year. I
was too old back then, so I had to go
to prep actual year, you know what I'm saying, and
was crazy, Bro. I had no no offers, no nobody
said nothing to me.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
When I left. Everything started at m c I.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
Like you know how m c I them college, some
college coaches watching us play pick up.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
That's when mine started coming in.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yeah, Mat coach, that's good was going this ship that
Caliberry was doing.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Max Good was doing thirty.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
Years old man, Yeah, he's one of Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
Yeah, Lenny tell me he had him driving.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Listen, you would you man, you man, it would be
more cars to sit up and watching you think it's
a real game going on. They would only it would
just be post. It would just be them playing pick
up every school that you ever imagined.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
I couldn't believe one day when I walked in when
we was great play pick up like you said, I
saw produce coach Gen Katie fucked me up, you know
what I mean? From Delaware.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
I'm like, oh Ship, yeah, oh there.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
So I immediately got a bounce, like, who's.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
Some other guys on your team though, Lenny that was
up there with you?

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Yeah, like I said, Kelly Taylor, Luther Clay, remember Luther Clay.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
Yeah, Luther play too, man. He must have been there
for yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
He would.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
He went to he went to Purdue first. Then he
left Purdue and.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
I thought he went the l s Un.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Didn't Luther playing Atlantic team?

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Yeah? Yeah yeah, because he went to Purdue first, but
he got out there. Yeah there, Okay, who who else?
Anybody else?

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Anybody anybody was a big time y'all had on on
your team beside yourself Ship.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
I wasn't big till it was. Kelly was the man,
Kelly coach good love it, Kelly. Yeah, Luther, he loved it.
Luther and it was the white boy that's from Maine,
Matt Bador.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Okay. Then he had a couple of other dudes that
were they wasn't they was?

Speaker 3 (25:43):
Yeah, yeah, for sure he was. There was names, but
they wasn't like like you.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Know, they get them rankings.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Man.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Yeah, that that's crazy. There's a small world because you know,
I know Kelly for years. You know, so Kelly and
iw we actually signed with Pittsburgh together and then we
both ended up having to go to Press. Of course
when the u C I went, the went the Hug Gray.
But yeah, man, Kelly was a bad boy, but he
was like.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Who who was?

Speaker 4 (26:10):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (26:10):
Who were some of the teams that y'all played a
prep school? And who was some of your uh some
of the names that that you had to go against.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Number one when when you didn't? I think it was
Victor Page.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
That's my brother, that's my brother.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Page was a fucking problem. Joah. Did he passed?

Speaker 1 (26:37):
I think no, no, no, no, no, he's a live he
he was like up. I speak to him every now
and again.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
But we was all on the same AU team, me
Vic and Kelly. That was the Perimeter, yeah yeah, and
Louis Bullocks. Yeah, y'all cheating.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Man, they gotta, they gotta.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
They got a black court ain't brother. Two gods could be.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
Key School School, cris School.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
That's crazy, know.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
So so you go, okay, so you so you're going
through your you at prep school, you're killing you're playing
some of these other other schools. So that talk to
us a little bit about the recruiting process and like
how you know how it went for you and how
they come down to exact a lot of.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
A lot of schools, Like Coach Good told me said,
they're scared of me because of my grade. Like I said,
you know how we was in high school. We wasn't young,
and you know what I'm saying, I don't enough basically
enough to be out you would play basically, Lenny.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
I don't know if you notice we just said all
three of us went to prep school. You ain't got
to say nothing else. All three of us with the
prepo we.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Wouldn't when uh, you know what I'm saying, Like you said,
when we rocking, people didn't know me. You know what
I'm saying, they were Coach was like, you know what
I mean, your name starting that that everybody asking about
who you are. Then they like I said about the grees.
But next thing, you know, you know what I'm saying,
it was being more serious, Like I started calling home
like and my mom was like, yeah, you got letters

(28:18):
and this from this. Then the third yeada, YadA YadA.
I'm like, okay, So next thing you know, lu Luck.
It was Lucky senior year in high school. Still I
was at the prep. He called me. He was like, Yo,
I'm signing with Xavery. I'm like, yo, they asked me
to sign to UH Coach Battle, but Coach Battle wasn't
coming up to MCR to see me. He was coming

(28:39):
up to see I think Kelly or somebody was a guard.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
I know that.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
But when he saw me, he was like basically he
was like he didn't even know I was there.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Then he put two and two together, Oh he might
fuck around sign with LUMP. Since we got Lump to
sign and they told me the story. I was like,
fuck them a fuck.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
With my boy? Did you ever can say any other schools?
Did you who are your visits? Did you take any?

Speaker 4 (29:03):
No?

Speaker 1 (29:03):
I only took one. I took one of XAVI bro.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
I started getting heavy recruited from Clemson and the University
of Miami.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
But already, look, you ain't we ain't Maine. You ain't
want to get this.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
I know, I know.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
I mean now.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
I look.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Look, I went to University of Afron.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
I mean I was going any if they told me
they was flying me out of.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
There, I was out of there, Bro, That's how I felt.
I was just like, just I want to sign some
golf were free. I know my mom can't afford it.
You give me for a scholarship with my boy dad too.
Come on, that's how That's how you looked at it. Yeahs,
you looked at that's what.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
So, Lenny, you made your decision to go to go
to Xavier when you first meet coach skipped process? What
was that? What was that interaction like? And how did
he kind of uh communicate what your role was going
to be on that team?

Speaker 3 (29:58):
H To be honest, that's one of my coaches to
Coach Good Max Good. He made me tough. He he
made me thick skin, he wore you couldn't play for him.
If you want some soft stuff, man, you you might
well don't even don't even try out for his team. Bro.
I'm telling him he cold this is one of the
coldest things.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
He told me.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Man, he said you he said you was playing of
the year. Don'twear.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Don't wear, got some shitty player. So that's how he
was bro He knew I was gonna go till but
he knew how you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
Oh fake ass pat Rowley.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
But coach Prostor knew how to put all of it together.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
That's why he let me know.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
He like as a freshman because when I came in,
I started from day one. Lump I think Lump started
maybe the fourth game, you know what I'm saying. So
in practice he seen you know what I'm saying, like
it was like it was a senior guard. No chance
I could tell you it was no chance. So I
just I was from that and he pulled me to
the side. He was like, I've never done this will

(31:10):
be my first time doing. He never started a two.
I mean a freshman at the two. You know what
I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
So you know that's crazy because I know you don't
know this, but uh, I was skipped king. He offered
me a scholarship to go to Jams. So he came.
So he came to hard Grade, came up to my bags,
and he offered me right there in the barracks and
he kind of sold us like, I got some hell
of a freshman coming in. I want to get all

(31:35):
of you freshmen together and and and just put y'all
out there, roll the ball out and let y'all do
what you do. And that sounds great. But at the time,
you know, my mindset was like, I'm not going to
school in Ohio. But and what's what's so crazy about it?
I ended up going to schooling on.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
He wanted many, he wound up going to dating right.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Yeah, so so Leonard. You people don't know, man, explaining
to our viewers and listeners about the Atlantic ten Conference
back then. Man, people don't know the nineties, late nineties,
early two thousand Atlantic ten Conference, top four conference in America,
about the competition that you faced the Davy base.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Go man, tell them, Let them know, man, everybody, Contino, Mobley,
you got them, Temple Boys, Man, you got y'all, you
got George Watch, Shawn, Tay Rodgers and them. Man, we
had guards Man Tyson Wheeler and them. Man who was
on Virginia Tech Man. Man, I'm telling you, man, guards man, listen,
you couldn't win in Atlantic ten with no guards. Man.

(32:45):
If your guards was poop, he was done, You're just
gonna pool, I'm telling you. And guards man listen, yeah,
sant Joe's yes, Sir Johnny Carr and them man Donnie.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
The Sound matter of fact, Sound had three averaging twenty plus.
They all scored two thousand points for their career. Don't up.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
I don't understand. They act like they're trying to not
give that era of A ten the props.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Yeah, and about you as a freshman, you go to
you Mass, you got trivi as Opadea, you got Dante Brighten,
Damon Dinger, and then you go to GW they had
the boy Kwame Evans, who was I don't know why
he why he I thought he was doing. And then
you had Peppy Sanchaz, you know, guys like that. So

(33:42):
the Atlanta teen was tough. So when I'm rocking world
from taboo to yeah, oh yeah, hell yeah. So what
I was gonna ask you, like, what was your who
was the person that kind of was like gave you
that welcome to the a ten or welcome to college moment?
Like who busts your ass first? Give me that first,
and then who, and then who asked the you bus

(34:04):
pause that made you feel like, yeah, it is about
to be on.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
I don't even remember the kid name. I know I
was a freshman. Were playing Notre Dame at Xavier. Oh
white dude about five eight five nine, starting two guard
and you know, cocky nigga from the hood. I got him.
He ran his joking around ninety screens, get damn like

(34:30):
like this.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
Hey, hey, hey leonry Leony. You was tied the ship
on offense.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
They knew it.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
They knew exactly what to do to a freshman kid
from the street. We're gonna use his fastness and all that.
You think, man, get run through these trees.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
So you so you played the two and your man
Lump he played the one. Yeah, okay, okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Then Lamar and Olderman that we played them. We played
lam more older than them at Zavie. I gave you, hey,
Lamar was a cheap code man. Oh man, he'd get
his thing too, but he wasn't sticking to me. But
so I had my thirty something and we wanted I
was talking shit. He had about twenty nine to thirty two,

(35:23):
but I wasn't sticking it.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
Man, I was so surprised when he went to Rhode Island.
I didn't think he.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
I thought he would go somewhere like Syracuse, to stay
somewhere in uh, you know, in New York York and John's.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
I thought he would go somewhere like that. But when
he went to Rhode Ise, I.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Said, Man, they must have gave him a super bad.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Rolled out no plans or nothing.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
Man, what Rhode Island? What he what? He did? One year?
Two years and left?

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Right?

Speaker 1 (35:51):
I think that one went and done, went and done?
Did it?

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (35:55):
He came he can't He came intoard Atlantic ten down?

Speaker 3 (35:59):
Yeah, yeah, yeah it was. It was a show everywhere
he went. Man, it was. It was packed out everywhere
he went. Yeah for sure. So who was that first player? Like,
who was it in Atlantic ten? I gave you problems?
And who was that player that that that you fried
in Atlantic ten? I'm gonna say Cat, Cat Moley was
a problem. Man. Cat was especially left hand you left handed, dude,

(36:22):
they give me problems. Man, I don't like that. I
don't It's not normal. Yeah, you know what I'm saying, Cat, Yeah,
I don't know. I love playing on the road, man,
like all my you like my cool. I averaged more
on the road than at home, you know what I'm saying.
So I try to give out work on the road, bro,
because I know I love the crowd talking ship to

(36:42):
me and all that type.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Yeah, yeah, I love that.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
I don't really know, like I love playing on the rule.
I don't know. One person I busted is Melvin love It.
He ain't in the Atlantic ten, but I used to
always bust his ads. I'm gonna tell you why though.
Every time we played across the shoot though, they would
put up in the newspaper they are raped that they
had a point guards. Brady ain't beating this that the

(37:06):
third man. They kept putting an a over. He's giving
this nigga a over b over me every year. And
I'm like, the only thing can do better than is jump.
You can jump higher than.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
Right, right.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
So I went in with every game. I went in
with attitude every time.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Yeah. Oh, and shout out to my bro Michael Horton
from that Cincinnati you know he's trying we find the
same neighborhood.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
I ain't know he's from the d m B.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
Yeah yeah, so yeah, shout shout out to him. But
while we're on the subject of Xaviy versus Cincinnati, walk
us through that game when you hit what we called
shot game. There was number one in the country that year, right, yeah, yeah,
yeah do that.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
Hey, you know that play wasn't even call for me. Bro,
he's crazy.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
We was going try to get it to Taray Bragg's Okay,
coach process and the coach process in the time out,
he drawing it up. You know what I'm saying. We're looking.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
I'm cool with it. I'm cool, like it's tied up.
If we get it.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
If he goes I mean he gets fab go to
the free throw line. You know what I'm saying, Man,
we break the huddle. Bro. The coach that came and
got me up, h m CI coach battle. Man, I'm
walking to the jaw tore the court, grab me right here.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Well, man, go get the motherfucker. That's exact words.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
If I'm blah, you get caught, he said, go get
the motherucker.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
Man.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
So I'm like, so I set up in the same position,
like I'm ready running to play. My coaches told me
go get the ball. That's what I'm thinking, Like, got
my hand on my knees. Soon I burned straight to
the ball. I was supposed to do something else. So
if you watch I caught the ball, I'm dribbling. I'm
just going to the sound. I'm like, fuck a, look

(38:55):
at the cop. You know you meant I just crossed
my hatie. He was backing up already, and I just
was trying to get closer to the elbow as I could.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
I said the newspaper.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
I told her. I said, I didn't know it was
going in. I ain't gonna lie, but I said it
felt good when I let it go. It wasn't too hard,
and it wasn't too so I said.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
It might bounce on that.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
You know what I'm saying. I said it felt good.
I ain't gonna say what was going in, but it
felt good, you know what I'm saying. But Coach Yo
wasn't drawn up for me, though it was drawn up
for today. Wow, wow, I can't. I wouldn't never drive
play for brags. He was a hell of he was

(39:35):
a hell of a big man. I get that too,
but come on, drawing gain't ready to play for him?

Speaker 1 (39:40):
That's what the other coach.

Speaker 4 (39:44):
Doing on the inbounds, tipping or some ship.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
It was like a cross like big Man crossed and
he was gonna catch him coming to the post and
hurry up and hit him like real quick because it
was like maybe like seven seconds, eight seconds.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
I can't remember man one full.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
When I drive, shooters, get ready just in case so
I can dish. Other than that, get the funk out
the way and let me bump and the shooters be
prepared just the case I kick it out there it is,
that's the place.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
That that night was crazy. They say the slogan was
since the Bearcat number one in the nation, but number
two in their own city.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
Oh well, we rode that over.

Speaker 4 (40:23):
How far? How far away was y'all from Cincy?

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Uh? You could walk there, it's like ten minutes. I
didn't know that it's close.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
The camp, like the actual camp close. I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
I know that we see it.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
That's what that's what I liked it though. I liked
it because you see him everywhere. The balls, the food places,
You're gonna run into them. And you know what I'm saying,
it's just that competition. Competition.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
That's that's the Midwest Duke, North Carolina fact fact.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
That that's that's definitely fact. So that was your cross
town rival Like we didn't really have a cross town rabhl.
We they try to they try to do one for us,
but it was just Right State, like right State had
no had no business playing against us, but they but
they was in Dayton. The fans used to say, right State,
wrong school.

Speaker 4 (41:18):
That was that's good.

Speaker 3 (41:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
Yeah. But for the viewers of listeners, if if you
never heard of the rivalry, the cross state rivalry between
Xavier and Dayton that started started back in nineteen twenty,
it was it was a big deal. Like we had
we had a trophy at the end the MVP, it

(41:45):
is always a sellout crowd, the fans going crazy, and
you kind of talk to to the viewers of listeners,
tell them about that ribery and electricity that was in
the air anytime that game was played.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
Y'all played, y'all ass off. Every time we came to Dayton.
It was like we could be watching tapes and I'm like,
they don't be missing them shots when they play us,
or he don't be boring like that when when he
played it, when they played us, everybody, everybody the game,
that's what that's that's one game. My coach said it

(42:22):
to me in the locker room, and he was like, oh,
he snapped. Coach snapped the fuck y'all scared only when
they scared, look like he said, helb, you know what
I'm saying. So I'm sitting over there like, man, you
niggas like, y'all scared, Bro, Like you know what I'm saying.
But y'all y'all rena, y'all can go, y'all rena, y'all
fans get loud, bro, and y'all have the refs too.
I don't know what y'all did with them refs. Man,

(42:45):
come on, come on, he'll be You know who was
that one, dude? Uh? The fake Gary Payton used to
Now he didn't call himself the glove.

Speaker 1 (42:56):
Oh when young the blanket, he called himself the blanket.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
There playing d V I wanted to kill him every time.
But yeah, those games are real though, Yeah, those games
they what man, we knew. We had to pack lunch
man every time every time.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
Yeah, though, those were some fun games. A lot of
a lot of physicality, a lot of trash talking.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
You man, don't do act like, don't be humbled like
that nigga. You know this forg got hot now three
fourth Street. I remember.

Speaker 1 (43:51):
Look, I'm gonna tell you know, I used to love
playing against y'all because playing for coach Oliver Pernell, he
was he was conservative, right, he wanted he wanted us
to play this, so I don't I don't even know
how to describe it. But but it wasn't a game
that was fit for me, right, I like to get
up and down the court and boogie. But it was

(44:12):
certain teams that we played against he got you didn't
have no choice but to open open up the offense
because y'all was pressing for forty minutes. So to be aggression,
you gotta be aggression.

Speaker 4 (44:25):
You got that.

Speaker 1 (44:25):
So so those games right there, you know, he allowed
us to kind of just let our wings out and
fly right. So I loved it because I'm like this
right up my alley, it comes. Oh if I just
had tape with my games against exact y'all been a
lottery fit.

Speaker 3 (44:43):
I told him, telling you, yo, every time we went
up to.

Speaker 1 (44:48):
Date, I got, I got MVP of that game twice.

Speaker 4 (44:58):
Let you play your game.

Speaker 1 (45:00):
Yeah, because you don't got no choice because when he
all them dudes, they coming at you and then my
match up is somebody who really is not talking about
that much. But he was a monster, Darnell.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
Williams, right from New York.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
Hey that hey, that boy there, that was my match up.
He was a nightmare. I'm gonna tell you how much
of a nightmare he was. When they served him out
and brought in Posey Freshman, I was like.

Speaker 3 (45:30):
Fruz thought it wasn't real.

Speaker 1 (45:36):
That's crazy because back then, you know, Posey was more
more of a four man. He wasn't comfortable in the
wing yet out in the wing, it wasn't really that
much pressure, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (45:48):
At that time.

Speaker 5 (45:50):
Yeah, yeah, y'all had to mar Yeah we did, man,
we could last year.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
Man, we play in U c l.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
A in the tournament.

Speaker 3 (46:03):
Man, I don't know what happened to my back, bro,
this first time ever felt a sharp pain in my back.
I mean we ain't even four or five minutes into
the game. Bro. In my heart, I was I was
going at Toby Bailly as bro. Hi, yo, nigga, you
can't guard me. That's how you know how we're going.
I was on him, Bro, I'm coming. They scored. I've

(46:24):
run back up to the court Bro, it just seemed
like shot me in my back. I go straight to
the floor. He backed up on me, like, man, I
ain't touching. I couldn't move, Bro.

Speaker 1 (46:33):
I was like I was doing your whole first hand.

Speaker 4 (46:36):
That's everybody man, one thing, but people that back, Bro,
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (46:40):
I don't wish that.

Speaker 2 (46:41):
Don't nobody man. That messed up your whole everything.

Speaker 3 (46:45):
Yeah, you can't do nothing.

Speaker 4 (46:46):
Everything.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
You can't move, especially when you get them bad fast,
because you move, you just take one thing it shoot
a shot down your whole body. And yeah, and that
quarter zone ain't kicking in fast enough. So yeah, trust me,
I'm with you better.

Speaker 1 (47:02):
Yeah, for sure. So so so Lenny you, I mean
for four years you you you tore up the NC
double A. I mean not only were you good individually,
but your team stayed in the what top ten, top
fifteen or for for most of your career. So you know,
from the outside looking then you a person would think that, man,

(47:23):
you're getting a lot of looks from from the league,
from the NBA. So now you in your senior season,
what were you hearing from agents, with scouts or anything
about possible draft position?

Speaker 3 (47:37):
Nothing? Only person like any I got invited to the camps,
but agents. Only person had an agent guarantee was supposed
our senior year. He the only one came me was
an after thought, Like I said, I had to. I
did get invited to, uh the one in Virginia. Then
I got the invite to the other on in Phoenix

(47:59):
than the Chicago one. You know what I'm saying. You
played all three of those. Yeah, that's awesome, played in
all them. Then I had a couple of workers. I've
worked out for Orlando twice, Miami, Uh was it?

Speaker 1 (48:12):
Yeah, Houston.

Speaker 3 (48:14):
But but my biggest thing I was playing out of
position every sooner went to the camp. They put me
at the one bro and I wasn't a one like
Joker attacked me. A Joker attacked me my mind. Ain't
the set up a play. I'm going straight to the whole,
you know what I'm saying. So it wasn't point guard.

Speaker 4 (48:31):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (48:32):
Struggle. I struggled. I can't lie. I struggled. They wanted you, they.

Speaker 2 (48:36):
Wanted you to facilitate and be more that that that
that Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (48:42):
What's your official height? Lenny six three six four six
three six three that's what it's specially but I'm a
little under sixty. Okay, Okay, yeah there's probably like.

Speaker 2 (48:53):
Yeah, that's but but yeah, but but yeah, it ain't
because it ain't a lot that back then when you
was coming out, it wasn't a lot of I can't
recall a lot of six to two guards. Two guards.
I mean y'all helped me out with that, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (49:08):
It wasn't.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
You have to be exceptional. You had to be like
an AI type.

Speaker 1 (49:14):
He wasn't letting nobody, you know what I'm saying, taking
that Chad like me.

Speaker 3 (49:18):
And like the Chicago camp me and Baron Davis was well,
we was working out together. It wasn't the horblem, but
we was just working out and me and him looking
out of the eye. He had to won and like comfortable.
So there's I know, they was like, you know what
I'm saying, They looking at me this you gotta step
your point guard game up basically. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:35):
And before before that, like let's say, during your senior
season or before you start going out working out for
teams and stuff, did anybody a coach or or age,
anybody ever put a bug in say hey, look, start
working on your point guard skills because that's what they're
gonna be looking at you for. No bro, my coach
Prosser around it.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
I say, better half of the season is the first
time he ever put me at the point guard in
practice my senior season. Like towards the end, I think
he started hearing something, but he never you know what
I'm saying, told me that, you know what I mean,
that's probably what they're looking for, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
And I was wondering why he did that. We did

(50:16):
it for like probably like the last month. I've never
done it, and I didn't feel comfortable with it then,
Like I was you know, I mean, I ain't let
nobody take it from me, But I wasn't a point guard.

Speaker 1 (50:24):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (50:26):
My mind was all the time, Like you know what
I'm saying, that shit was hard to turn off, Like
trust me, ninety four feet, I ain't used to.

Speaker 4 (50:34):
That, you know what, Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (50:38):
So oh it's one thing. And I almost forgot about this.
A couple of weeks ago. I'm going through the through
the scrap books and some stuff that my mother had
left for me and I and it reminded me so
we played on the All Star team together. I guess
the Hallow Globe tried this the college All Stars versus

(51:00):
the Hardam Globe Trotters. We played in Cincinnati, and on
that rush it was me and you Posey, and then
we had the dude from North Carolina. He was like
first team on uh A c C. Then we had
the tall white kid who was drafted by the Paces
first round. But it's right there in Cincinnati. I don't

(51:23):
remember remember that. And I remember because that's the first
official paycheck that I ever got.

Speaker 4 (51:37):
Auntie up.

Speaker 1 (51:41):
And the tax papers, like you know how they sent
the tax form and study. It just brought back memories.
But I remember well because I uhs was my roommate there.
Dick Vtail did the game, and who was the coach?
The coach was the black dude that was assistant coach
for the Chicago Bulls. Damn him Trimmings Clemmings or something

(52:04):
like that.

Speaker 3 (52:06):
M lady man. He was out man.

Speaker 4 (52:08):
Then he was in the streets man.

Speaker 2 (52:10):
He was, he was, he was, he was enjoying.

Speaker 4 (52:15):
He was enjoying Cincinnati man having.

Speaker 1 (52:18):
The ball because in his hometown too, he was he
was frying.

Speaker 2 (52:27):
Got everybody from around the way out that he was lovely.

Speaker 3 (52:32):
Yeah, it's lovely.

Speaker 4 (52:32):
Yeah yeah, so you know.

Speaker 3 (52:36):
It's crazy not to stop my girls like that was
on campus like that my my, my, my main one.
She was from Dayton, Ohio.

Speaker 1 (52:44):
Bro so yeah we had the same girl.

Speaker 4 (52:52):
Yeah boy, crazy man.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
Shout out to the young boy you know, young boy,
Uh Lenny from the crib. He go to Gonzaga. I
just watched him play. I literally just watched they was
in a tournament out here. He go to Gonzaga High
School and he's a guard and he's a he's he's
a point guard and he's going he's uh signed and
he's going to Xavier next year. Yeah he can boogie. Yeah,

(53:21):
true point guard to score when you won probably about
sixty one.

Speaker 4 (53:25):
Uh you know what I mean. But he got that
mentality from around the way.

Speaker 1 (53:29):
You know.

Speaker 2 (53:29):
They they from the crib and uh some definitely somebody
to look out for. But you when you see him,
you know, that's what O and Cole was talking about.
He can booge a little bit so Xavier.

Speaker 1 (53:41):
Yeah. I don't know if you remember Alvin Brown went
to Gonzaga. Oh that was my freshman. I didn't know
that yeah, shout out the album. Uh d C he
from d C, Right, yeah, d C. I you know
how just I was just with him not too long ago.

(54:02):
I was having drinks and we was actually rapping and
were talking about the show, and I mentioning it to
you too, Lenny, to get together like something a hand
for the Dayton players from back then and a half
for the Xavier players and just talk, just talk. You
know what I'm saying, I'm with that. I'm with you. Yeah,
for sure, for sure. So you out Exavier, you went

(54:24):
to the NBA camps, you worked out for some teams.
Draft day come where you expected, expecting to be drafted.

Speaker 3 (54:33):
Sh that was my dream. You know what I'm saying,
I ain't gonna lie. I was watching the draft and
you know, man, you just look at some of them jokes.
You're like, oh, yeah, shot, just give me a shot.
Just crump. And then but when it didn't happen, my
agent called me, was like, you know what I'm saying.
He was like, uh, it's up to you what you

(54:54):
want to do. Like he was like, you you can,
you know what I mean, chase that or you're gonna
go overseas.

Speaker 1 (54:58):
You told me you're gonna make.

Speaker 3 (54:59):
More of there then if you want to chase this.
So my first time, I was like, fuck, I'm gonna
chase his money first get out of college.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
Ship.

Speaker 3 (55:06):
I wish we had in il, but we had to
chase the money.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
You know.

Speaker 1 (55:10):
Yeah, he was. I played in Belgium.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
I played in Belgium, man in the EuroLeague and the
Belgium League.

Speaker 1 (55:18):
Yeah, so that's Landy. That's the last time I saw
you in person was in Belgium. Yeah, yeah, I remember
we played against each other. Y'all came out of place
in Brussels. Yeah, yeah, that's the last time I saw you.
We got y'all about it there too. Do you remember
our guard, that the white boy?

Speaker 3 (55:39):
Do you remember him?

Speaker 1 (55:40):
Yeah? You know how much money he was making?

Speaker 4 (55:42):
Bro?

Speaker 3 (55:43):
Millions?

Speaker 1 (55:44):
Bro, yeah, even a millionaire. I understand he was making
like two hundred thousand a month. Yes, yes, yes, Where
was he from?

Speaker 3 (55:54):
From Belgium? But he was nice back in this day.
But he was an older dude that didn't want to
really let it go. Yeah, so much money and power
over there, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (56:04):
He home, he probably was the hometown.

Speaker 3 (56:08):
Oh yeah he was yeah, so oh yea yeah, the
parking spot and all that type ship.

Speaker 1 (56:13):
Yeah, and that happens like that a lot in the
countries you playing. Because I played on the team in
Argentina and we had a dude. He was old as
dirt and it was time for him to retire, but
he was a legend out there and he was known
for he played in that ninety two Olympics against the
Dream Team and he hit like three four buckets on Jordan.

(56:34):
So you know, they always talk about man he he
you know he is he that Obama had a yacht
and everything. And we played my position. He used to
try to go out me. It was like, man, you
in the way, bro in the way, Man, your turn
is over. We didn't win it. Yeah, So talk you

(56:55):
toout us about your overseas experience. How did you like it?
How did you adjust to it?

Speaker 3 (57:00):
That's the only time I could compare to the Cincinnati years.
The Cincinnati four years was, but my overseas on two
years bore because look, I understand being in Belgium, it
was it's a French speaking country. Yeah, so that was like,
oh man, that's gonna be rough. Then we start we
got cool to do on an army base American duty
from New York. Once we looked up with him, it

(57:22):
was on a cracking man. We found out Amsterdam was
only an hour away, and I don't ain't gonna say
no more. Look the road they took us. It was
no like checkpoints or that we could just get in
the car, hit the joint, come right back. Nobody won't
know nothing, you know, say, oh man, it was a
beautiful time, man.

Speaker 1 (57:40):
Bro anytime we had a break. Sometimes we have a
break ten days with no practice, no gamesa the Amsterdam
it was.

Speaker 4 (57:51):
It was an hour way chilling, chilling in a coffee shop.

Speaker 1 (57:56):
Yeah, man, yeah, drinking cough, I swear to god. Social media.

Speaker 3 (58:03):
Look, when I first walked in, they had a big
screen with all the all the.

Speaker 1 (58:07):
Weed prices and different currencies.

Speaker 3 (58:10):
Different. It's sucking me out.

Speaker 4 (58:11):
I'm like, yeah, like you had to growth, like you
at the grocery store.

Speaker 1 (58:16):
Yeah, then you can purchase in the city. You see
jokers just get I'm like, you know, as a young
tea like yo, yeah, so different.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
So then when I went up So when I played
up Top, I played in the Canadian Football League for
nine years, eight years.

Speaker 4 (58:34):
So when I went up Top, they had that in Montreal.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
Wow, So in Montreal, and when you go up to Vancouver,
like right above Seattle, I just go up there. I
literally just go down and they said, man, we about
to go to this shop. I'm thinking, I'm just going
to a raging shop with the boys. They go to
the next thing, you know, I'm looking at I see
nothing but burrows and then they got them in those
jars you know whatever.

Speaker 4 (58:57):
Yeah, man, crazy, Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 3 (59:00):
Like it was just like this is so open like that,
like no police come. You know, I'm thinking police.

Speaker 4 (59:07):
But that's what That's an experience.

Speaker 2 (59:10):
That's an experience that I tell people all the time
that it's priceless. That's the experience me having my dream
playing football or whatever the case. You you playing basketball,
took you and showed you the world.

Speaker 3 (59:24):
Man. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (59:27):
That ship, that ship that they was doing twenty years ago,
they doing that.

Speaker 2 (59:31):
They're doing now at dispensaries where we was, where we
was going in the coffee shop and stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (59:36):
They were doing that twenty five years ago. And when
you can come.

Speaker 2 (59:39):
Home and tell all your boys around the way, they like,
he'd like, bro, what I gotta do? Take a picture
you know, no social media or no camera phones back.

Speaker 1 (59:48):
Then, none of that.

Speaker 2 (59:49):
So to see that, man, And like I tell these
youngers all the time. Man, sometimes when you when you
have a passion about football back well whatever it may be.

Speaker 4 (59:59):
Sometimes that experience is price try. Don't get me wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
It's about the bag and getting your money and taking
care of your family. But man, some of these things
that you will cherish, the money gonna go, that's an
experience that will stay with you for the rest of
your life.

Speaker 4 (01:00:14):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
Hey cool mm hmm.

Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
Oh, one one experience, I swear to God. Man, I
ain't gonna say it haunts me, but it's just one
thing I think about. Bro I played in Saint Petersburg, Russia,
right right, exactly, we do. It's just like the Rocky movie,
the security with the jawnts, the hats, you know what

(01:00:38):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
Yeah, I'm already I'm like a man.

Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
Hell, let's get this game, and I'm gonna I don't
want nothing happened to get stuck over here.

Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
Yeah, so boom, we.

Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
Go to the Hotel bro On my mom resid in
Peace Broke. As we waiting were in the lobby, my
coach come to me. He like, uh, you know what
I mean, I want to talk to you for a minute. So, like,
you know, we're young. I got my headphones on. Man
that he interrupted, probably WU tangers, I don't know. Yeah,
he was like, he's like, it's a guy over here.

(01:01:09):
They want to meet you. He's from Womington, Delaware. He's
seventy this now this is in two thousand and one.
He's he was seventy six. Then, Wow, white dude. He
said he's been in Russia for forty fifty years, hasn't
seen anybody from women to Delaware since he's left.

Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
But he wanted to meet me. Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
But as a young I'm so nahive, not appreciating the
moment and trying to learn where he's from.

Speaker 1 (01:01:40):
And why, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
I just shook his hand and he said he bred
my name in the paper and he saw where I'm from,
and he said he wanted to come.

Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
And meet me.

Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
I wish I would have connected with him.

Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
A little bit more.

Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
That might have been something you don't never.

Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
I don't know what would have happened.

Speaker 3 (01:01:56):
Yeah, Like he had no fani, he was the only
he was never coming back. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:02:01):
I just wonder that was about you know what I'm saying, Yeah,
that stupid. You don't know what you You don't never know,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (01:02:10):
You know how he could have Obviously he was connected somehow.
The motherfucker been over there for forty years.

Speaker 1 (01:02:15):
Absolutely mad.

Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
Yeah, but but but those type of things happen because
we're young, right yea, And sometimes we don't know, but
we learned from those experiences and me and then that's
why we appreciate you sharing that with us, LB, because
now our listeners and viewers are listening to it.

Speaker 4 (01:02:35):
We got young at that be listening and they be thinking,
oh man, it's o G.

Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
You know, because sometimes you be careful, you be like
I don't want them, but hopefully they understand you don't
never know. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
He might have dropped the jewel on me and it,
like you said, it might not have been about a
bag man, help me with my family anything. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
I just I just look at that a missed opportunity,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
Yeah, that's what's up. That's a good story.

Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
Man, appreciate that, and so linear I want to I
want to. I want to check check something so that
there was a there was a club in the area,
and are you loved you might know you might know
anybody I know that played in Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg

(01:03:31):
in that whole area. They know about the mindy l
Did you ever go to that club?

Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
Like that, bro, like it's in that No, you wouldn't
have forgot this club. It's the greatest club to ever
be built in the it's in another it's in the Netherlands,
real big. It was big. And if you wanted to
know all Americans that was playing over season that general region,

(01:04:02):
they was there.

Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
I think I might have been there, bro, I think
I might have been there. You ain't know.

Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
Lenny ain't no where he was gone.

Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
Ship?

Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
What's that? What's that? What's that planet? All that little
where where wonder woman from?

Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
That?

Speaker 4 (01:04:20):
That?

Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
That's what that's what that was the club version everybody
has about that club that played overseas and that in
that general region. They go crazy talking about that club.

Speaker 4 (01:04:33):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Hey, was Chris mcguffery over there in Belgium when you
was playing Lenny lb christ m Christ mcguffery went to
same he went to uh uh Mount Shane marrige look
point guard that came out of Mount Shane marriage. I
thought he, I thought, I thought he played over there
in Belgium.

Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Was some tough guards in Belgium. He might have it
was some tough guarde.

Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
That christ could flat out boogie you know what I mean,
he could do it. He played.

Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
He played over there so long wherever he was at Belgium, whatever,
wherever he was.

Speaker 4 (01:05:03):
He gained citizenship.

Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:05:06):
Yeah, we had a guy like that squad.

Speaker 4 (01:05:08):
And he was and he was Yeah he's straight.

Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
That was the goal over there. You get you a citizenship,
or you get married there, you have kids there, your
your value go up. They pay because now now they
can sign you as a countryman.

Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
As a countryman.

Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
Yeah they really what they really doing is cheating and
getting another American American you can only have two.

Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's the same thing up in Canada.
Obviously it's a little bit more because it's more players.
But if you you know, it's forty some or whatever.
But like eighteen got to be American. But if you signed,
if you you know, obviously, if you married or you
get that citizenship, now you don't count against that roster.

Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
As far as being a they call you an import.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
You know, an import player, so cattle, they can call
me whatever the fuck they want.

Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
I had him to do it. Hold on the best
every Canada. Canada owes me nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
Montreal I'm talking about talking about Drake and Toronto. I
knew that motherfucker when he was one on one on
the morning shill back.

Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
That ship. Toronto.

Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
Montreal, Canada owes me ship.

Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
I might owe Canada, you do now, but that's I
just like.

Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
I like that they have more opportunities now for these
kids so they don't have to go you know, overseas
or brought to Canada. You know, we got a young
man that I'm working with right now, getting ready uh
in the spring, gett ready to go to the UFL,
you know, United States Football League and things like that.

Speaker 4 (01:06:55):
So in and the basketball, you got the G League
and stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
So it's good that they give me these kids because
they shouldn't have to go overseas.

Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
You know, we should have we it's enough money out
there that.

Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
You can do absolute my league and create something and
that way they can get that film because the ultimate
goal is for them to get back. We'll get the
opportunity to get into the league, then they should be
right here at home, you know what I mean. So
I agree, I salute salute to all the to the
youngers that's still chasing that dream and opportunity show.

Speaker 1 (01:07:24):
So, so, Lenny, what what was that? So so you
went overseas and you balled out? What was the deciding
factor to make you say, all right, I'm I'm ready
to to shut it down. Hang get up for real?

Speaker 4 (01:07:38):
For real.

Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
My kids, like I was already had two and I
had two more when I when I left the first time,
then when I came home, I had like a back
to back you know what I'm saying. It was like
I was. It was a lot on my baby mom
being with you know what I'm saying, and me over
I was still in the States. Yeah over there, that
was hard, you know what I'm saying. I mean, if

(01:08:00):
I could do it again out of the stage, but
it was just at that time, it was just like
I was seeing it. It was it was taking a
toll on her, you know what I'm saying. I tried
to bring them over, but it was hard because kids
was young and everybody speaking first, they don't understand what's
going on? After a month, they couldn't take it no more.
They was, I can't watch TV. I only watch the
same amount of DVDs.

Speaker 4 (01:08:20):
You know. Yeah, oh no, it wasn't No, wasn't no streaming,
and yeah that it was different.

Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
But yeah, yeah, sure, so I go ahead because no,
so you so you made it?

Speaker 4 (01:08:35):
You made with it?

Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
Was that?

Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
Was that like a tough did you know? Like, Okay,
it's my last this my last season.

Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
I kind of knew, but I played with the thought
that I can get back, you know how you always like, man,
I can get back if I want. You know, at
that time, you're young, twenty six, twenty five, I can
get back. You know what I'm saying. You're thinking another
opportunity to come. That's what I was thinking. I can
get another opportunity. But in the back of my mind
and I'm like, might not. You might not?

Speaker 1 (01:09:02):
You know what I'm saying, because basketball was a young
man's game, you.

Speaker 4 (01:09:05):
Know, yes, it is professional sports, not just basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
Sports is a young man is a young man's game
for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
So how so how was the transition from basketball to
like back to what I call real life? Like what
what what was your next chapter like walk us through that.

Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
Oh man, oh ship. That was a good that's a
good question. It was, like you said, coming back to
real life. You know, we had the ball playing basketball
college and you know what I mean, professional, So to
go back to I mean, well, I go back my
first time really looking for a real job and having
real bills and shit like that.

Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (01:09:44):
So very humbling, very humbling transition.

Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
It was definitely a transition, like you said, to humble.

Speaker 3 (01:09:50):
You you know what I mean. But you know, you
know what I mean. We come from the month, you
know what I mean. I knew what time it was.
I knew what time it was, what I had to do,
you know what I mean. But it was tough.

Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
It was tough. You know, you get the questions certain
people see you out yo.

Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
Something you still this that and the third you know
what I mean that But you know what I mean,
you keep it on hunt hey man might be over, man,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
It's over.

Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
But at the end, then when I had my son,
and I didn't press my son, one of my oldest son,
I didn't press him like to play because I know
how hard this one, you know what I'm saying. And
like my son, like him being with his mom, it
was it wasn't that great. I can tell he didn't
have it. I'm like, and I come on, man, so
I didn't push him. You know what I'm saying. Now,

(01:10:33):
I got I got my youngest the eighth and seventh
they playing, you know what I'm saying. So that's what
I'm doing.

Speaker 4 (01:10:40):
That's what So you so you tell you how you like,
uh coaching, Like as far as.

Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Man, I don't coaching, So you don't coaching, so you
be bro.

Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Patience that I learned. That's it takes patience and that's
not one thing. But I'm learning, Like like i'm learning,
I'm uh, you know lunk and lunkin coach high school.
We went to a well p you know what I'm saying.
He's been there now two or three years. You know
what I'm saying. I've been dipping and dabbing in the practice.

(01:11:12):
You know, I might. I'm thinking about it if they
if they allow me, I'm thinking on it.

Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
But god, that's tough. Man.

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
Yeah, you know these kids is different now to man.

Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
But but it's an LB out there right, it's an
LB out there.

Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
They need LB.

Speaker 4 (01:11:33):
I just leave you with that.

Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Somebody once to me because they said, oh, you know,
because I was coaching doing a little something that at
the Howard LB, and I was there for two weeks
and I just left. I didn't even tell the head
coach I was leaving. I ain't tell the DV coach
that I was working with LB. I couldn't take the
ship on all you motherfuckers ull every y'all.

Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
I had to go.

Speaker 4 (01:11:58):
L ORB.

Speaker 6 (01:12:00):
They think they met, they all think they're going to
the league. I'm like, you got league dreams when you
work like you had to the merge. Come on, man,
you don't mean right. So so I.

Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Because of how I know, how I know and how
I love football, and how I know what it saved me, like.

Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
We were just talking about and what it did for me.

Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
You know, it allowed me to see so many different
things and my love for that game. Yes, when I'm
not around somebody, they don't have to have the same
athletic ability as myself, but they got to have a
passion for the game, right And these kids, you know,
they they telling you everything you want to hear. But
then you know when you see and work you like,

(01:12:44):
so I couldn't take it, man, So I had I
had to.

Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
It's tough. It takes a special p lo loveliness that
one like he got it. He got it always.

Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
That's why he's a point. I mean, you get out it.

Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
He got that. And it's something like it's hard to
keep telling the kid that's sixteen seventeen the same thing
over and over. Man, are you want to be great
or good?

Speaker 4 (01:13:10):
Or what are we doing?

Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:13:11):
So yeah? Yeah, so so what so what coach Flee did?

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Who's who is the assistant head coach for the University
of Colorado. He up there with them and this is
who I He was the head coach at Howard at
the time. And uh he said, oh Mar, he said,
I get it, and I know you. You know how
you are, he said, But it's a omar. It's an
omar out there that need omar. I say, say no.

Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
More said made me think about some stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
Yeah yeah, so so so I do the I do
the training stuff or whatever the case we be, but
the actual coaching thing, you know or whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:13:50):
But yeah, so so you know, it.

Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
Might be something you might want to look because LB,
because with your knowledge man, and you seeing it and
you doing it at the highest level.

Speaker 4 (01:13:59):
See, that's what the youngers don't see. The youngers don't.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
It's almost like they don't they don't understand what the
ogs did, right.

Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
We like what you.

Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Say on the first on the very first question, you said, man,
my my, my. O G was like, man, that's who
I looked up to, That's who I was.

Speaker 4 (01:14:15):
Man. He gave me the game and helped me. You
know what I mean. Like they don't. It's like they
don't understand that.

Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
I'll be like, wow, you.

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Don't have a favorite. Well, I'm like, but I'm like,
y'all watching. I'm like National Championship game coming on.

Speaker 4 (01:14:27):
Y'all watching.

Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
They like, I'm like, how the fuck you want to
be a football player and the game is coming on
and you don't football?

Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
You want to be a basketball player and you don't
even watch basketball.

Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
That's a fact. That's I don't understand it. I don't
understand it.

Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
I'll be calling because I wanted to watch n C
double a basketball because NBA is it's not basketball, but
I gotta watch n C Double a sometimes. You know
what I'm saying. It's a good game coming on, Like
I like the kid Cooper Flag Duke play good. They said,
screen you can learn something, you know what I mean.
You can learn a little language something you don't know. Yes,

(01:15:06):
they like man, I ain't watch that.

Speaker 4 (01:15:13):
Hey, hey LB on the game, y on the game.
They do all kinds of stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Yeah, it's a different error it is. I'm just like you, guys.
I never I never wanted to coach. I never had
any desire to coach. And several years back high school,
former high school teammate asked me, asked me to coach
as a favor, and I'm like, I guess I do it.
But when I did it, I saw the value of

(01:15:41):
people like us, that that that played the game and
and being to where these kids trying to go. I
saw the value of us being just being present because
now they're looking up to you, they asking questions, you know,
and they and they want to pick your brain. And
you got a lot to give back, you know what
I'm saying. I have to give back. So so I

(01:16:02):
started loving that aspect of coaching. I hated the asking,
those parts because that's not what I do. But I
knew that I could help develop each year individually developed
their skills developed the mentally and that that was the
that was the best thing I took away from coaching.
So so yeah, Lenny, if you get that opportunity, really

(01:16:22):
think about it, because you, I mean, with with your
experience and everything you've done in this game, you get man,
you have a plethora of knowledge to get back.

Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
To these young and even if you ain't no coach LB,
even if you ain't no coach LB, you know you can.

Speaker 4 (01:16:37):
Always you know what I'm saying. I'm pretty sure you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
I'll probably telling you that sometimes it just takes like
being a mentor or somebody, you know, a little young
that you might just holler at every now and then
yeah or that, or might introduce that young into you
like man, you my my brother LB. I'm I'm gonna
just holler at you like I love my little young
And watching the joint right now, little Kenny gall Yeah,
how he training come out for the NFL Combine.

Speaker 4 (01:17:02):
You know, my my, my, my little brother put me
on that's his o G. You know what I'm saying.
So he called me up, you know, to somebody to
chop it up with.

Speaker 2 (01:17:09):
Because those ones that do understand you know that o G.
And understand, those are the ones that do well in life, man, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
Because they will take they listen. You ain't gotta listen
to everything. You know what I'm saying everything I ain't.
I ain't gonna take you nothing wrong, man.

Speaker 4 (01:17:29):
And they're not afraid that. And they're not afraid to
ask questions.

Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
And you know the ones. You know the ones man,
You know it's the ones like you said that swear
they're good and don't put working.

Speaker 1 (01:17:41):
Don't working, man, You don't even.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
Have the right foot up, you know, not even in
a good stand out of here.

Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
Terrible.

Speaker 1 (01:17:52):
You can't even.

Speaker 4 (01:17:55):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
So my first I was saying that because my first
visit that I want to my very first visit, I
went to university an afroing with UH the coach that
was recruiting, the coach that was recruiting my my my
big brother.

Speaker 4 (01:18:09):
He like my big brother, he my best.

Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
Friend, like a O G to Kobe and now Seawan Springs,
Sew Springs that went to Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (01:18:16):
Yeah, we went to that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
We we've been we went to the same high school.
So I've been with me and Sean Bean doing what
we do since I was fourteen years old. You know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
So the coach that was recruiting him at the.

Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
Time wound up getting a head coaching job at the
University of Afering when I was in prep school. Oh okay,
So he was like, man, I want to be the
first school, you know, to bring you out.

Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
I'm in bank. I mean you know where I'm at.

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Yeah, I said, yes, sir, said he said, man, I said,
as soon as you can exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
Yeah, come on, man, you know that going, man, that
was the best thing. Smoke was going up to Bangor
I think.

Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:19:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:19:04):
So so Lenny, before we get you out of here,
we wanna we always play a game called rapid five.
So we're just gonna ask you half full of questions
and you just answer right away to your best ability.

Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
The get you in trouble.

Speaker 4 (01:19:22):
No, no, it's all all kind of l B.

Speaker 1 (01:19:34):
All right, one word, one word answer, first thing, first
word come in your mind when when I mentioned this
thing or person? All right, uh m c I oh tough,
Xavier love skip process.

Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
Great man. I know it's two words, but great man,
that's cool.

Speaker 4 (01:20:07):
That's cool.

Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:20:10):
James Posey my man, Gary Lunkin my brother. So you're
going to start bench your cut Lebron. Jordan's Kobe.

Speaker 3 (01:20:30):
Jordan's starting.

Speaker 4 (01:20:35):
My brother right there about.

Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
I know it, Kobe and damn benching Lebron.

Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Man, Man, Like, come on, man, we're talking about so
so you benching Lebron cutting Kobe. Oh this bitch cut. Yeah,
I got to go Lebron, got to go. Bro.

Speaker 3 (01:20:57):
I love Lebron though I ain't hate it, but I'm
a killer. I agree with the killers. Man. I know,
I know, I know he's he's a mouth rushmore, he's
a mouth rushmore and all.

Speaker 1 (01:21:08):
But this is young personal preference. I got you. I can't.

Speaker 3 (01:21:14):
I can't.

Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
Hey, hey, I got one for you. Cincinnati or Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (01:21:20):
I didn't spend a lot of time up in Cleveland,
even though posey from there.

Speaker 4 (01:21:24):
Okay, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
I've been up there maybe like three times, and we
went to his mom crib and his sister crib.

Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
We hung out one time, but we ain't spend a lot.
He ain't like going back to Cleveland. Bro Okay, yeah, Hey,
And you know why I ain't gonna say, man, because
we probably got Cleveland man. Love y'all used to spend
some time in the flats doing what I do. I
love both and harmony. You're gonna do it?

Speaker 3 (01:21:57):
Posey llam Odor, that's tough. I'm gonna go with. I
gotta go with lo O Lamar was Lamar cound do
it all. You know what I'm saying. It's boy Hending
way better than Posy.

Speaker 1 (01:22:10):
You hear that Posy? That's your brother.

Speaker 3 (01:22:14):
Too. Yeah he was.

Speaker 1 (01:22:18):
Last question, top five Exavier University players of all time?

Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
Who your who? Your top five? I'm gonna go with
David west Uh I gotta put are we just okay?
Let me ask you this. It's just talking about Xavier
or we're talking about NBA player, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
I mean because if they went there, If they went
to Xavier, they can be on your top five of
all time team.

Speaker 4 (01:22:48):
We ain't talking about what they did in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
We're talking about exam walking around that campus doing what
they did.

Speaker 1 (01:22:56):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
I definitely I gotta put Dave west uh Ship that's tough.
I gotta put the y'all might not Byron Larkin's the
all time leading scorer, Yes, sir, he's a Hall of
Famer man. I can't leave him off.

Speaker 4 (01:23:14):
I gotta look that one up.

Speaker 3 (01:23:15):
Yeah, he's Byron Larkin. His brother played for the Reds.
Is a Hall of Famer.

Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
Wow, yeah he played for His brother played for the
Cincinnati Rans, right yeah, I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:23:25):
Yeah, yeah, the Cincinnati Ran. Yeah, his brother. Yeah, he
was a beast. But that's Dave west Largan. Hey man,
I'm putting myself in there.

Speaker 6 (01:23:34):
I was waiting.

Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
I was waiting for myself, bro and time all leading
scoring and the university.

Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
Of course, you know, but his his career wasn't long
because I think he was a transfer. But he was
a problem.

Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
Crawford is his name, Jordan Crawford. Yeah, he dominating in
the Big Three.

Speaker 4 (01:24:03):
He was Oh he was not I remember him. Yeah,
he was going crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
Yeah, he was a problem.

Speaker 1 (01:24:11):
I enjoyed watching him when he was playing with us
for us. Yeah, put one more man, shit, know you
don't yeah, you paying, I don't care what position.

Speaker 4 (01:24:25):
We ain't talking about possession.

Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
We said, yeah, I'm gonna go with the most recent
blew it blew it, blew it, Trevon blew Trevon. He
think he got he got like the all time three pointer.
He's he put up numbers. He put up numbers.

Speaker 1 (01:24:46):
So I don't want to start now I don't want
to be petty, but you got your boy twice in
one segment. No Posy in the top five. I ain't
say post no, oh yeah, I got opposing that. Yeah,
when I asked about the NBA, that's why I asked

(01:25:08):
the question about the.

Speaker 4 (01:25:09):
Nb Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's why I figured
you was asking about Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 4 (01:25:14):
Now you gotta put him in there.

Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
So that's nice. So on the perimeter that you got
you Crawting and Larkin and got David West and Posey
like that. I like it.

Speaker 3 (01:25:26):
Yeah, I like it.

Speaker 1 (01:25:28):
They still wouldn't be these boys right here. Hey, that's
a good five. Still split man, split man.

Speaker 4 (01:25:39):
I looked at that.

Speaker 3 (01:25:40):
We split it every year.

Speaker 1 (01:25:42):
Yeah, we will win at our place, y'all, win at y'all.
It was crazymes tho was fun, games man fun. I
wanted before before we get out of here, I want
to tell you a story. I just got a text.
So one of our former University Dayton players, he played
probably your freshman sophomore year, and then he left. He transferred,

(01:26:05):
but his name, Rodney Horton, I remember him all right.
So he told the story when we was playing y'all.
I think it was at Dayton and uh and he
was guarding you, and I guess y'all start getting chippy,
talking little trash right, and I think he might have
scored a bucket on you. So then you got a
beast mode, you know, put a couple of baskets together

(01:26:28):
and then that last basket you got and one on
them like a tough bucket and one. Then he said,
you beat your chest set. I'm the motherfucking man.

Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
I'm playing against y'all. Man, you had to have that.
But you can't come in there and just be bullshitting
for real. You had to have a dog. You not
beating Dayton and Dayton. If you're in a dog, I
don't care you. You can have the best talent. You
come a Dayton, that arena and that fluid dumb jokers
is hitting every thing.

Speaker 4 (01:27:02):
A lb.

Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
I got one last quick question for you in this
day and age, and we always like to ask our
big time players this question in this day and age.

Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
Put yourself in this day and age. N I L's
real transfer report is real?

Speaker 3 (01:27:19):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:27:21):
Are you staying at e Xavier after what you did
your sophomore year went crazy? Or or your junior year,
or you saying like, man, let's I'm about to go
to one of these blue bloods or I'm gonna go
to one of these or one of these other schools.

Speaker 4 (01:27:34):
That's about to give me this bag that's gonna set
me up for my future for the rest of my life.

Speaker 3 (01:27:38):
Absolutely, and and and you know what's crazy. It would
have been a tough decision because I loved Xavier. But
you know, at the end of the day, you know
what I mean, opportunity. We was looking for opportunities, man,
you know what I'm saying, Yes, if somebody would have
offered a bigger bag, I would have had a ticket.

Speaker 4 (01:27:52):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (01:27:52):
You know, it wouldn't have been no malice to it.
It was just that's what back then, that's what it was.

Speaker 4 (01:27:57):
We were. Yeah, he would have got the N I
L and a lot of a lot of us, right.

Speaker 1 (01:28:04):
I was so happy to get the Peil Grants. Oh
my damn, Oh my goodness. Grant was he that man
that pel Grand kick the man bank? When I tell
you that used to be the best weekend in.

Speaker 2 (01:28:22):
For the football football team party on Friday night back
and see exam, y'all didn't have a football team so
all y'all have is the basketball team y'all.

Speaker 1 (01:28:33):
Yes, I tell you one thing. If the transfer portal
was in effect and was in the fact when when
Lenny was playing, I guarantee he would have went right
across the street to the bag because I know Bobby
Huggins would have broke that would have broke the bank.

Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
Yeah, he loved the man love yo, he like, I
got cool with h I forgot my manna that he
