let you introduce our special guests for the evening.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Hey, man, this gentleman right here, Mike Busch, that's coming on.
So for all our listeners and viewers, this is somebody
who is more than just a client of minds or
a former client of minds. This is somebody who is truly, genuinely,
genuine a friend of mine. He's an eight year veteran.

(01:37):
He's a Hall of Famer in Kentucky. He's one of
the first dual threats that all that wildcat shit y'all
see doing now, Mike Bush was doing that back in Louisville,
back in the day, more and poorly.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
He a playmaker. He a good person, He a businessman
and more important than all that stuff we used to
go out, ain't get that's right, that dude, my man,
go one, the only Kentucky's number one guy, My man

(02:13):
from the Louis Cardos. Mike Butch, you do too bad?
What's up? Man? You did Greade? Now you was even
talking about late nights, you know you. You used to say, man,
oh you need your own TV show. You were Keenan Burton. Hey,

(02:35):
I got Keenan Burton coming on. Shout out to my
boy Keenan Burton.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
He coming on here next and number one of the
great Kentucky guys that did his thing at the University
of Kentucky.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
But we gotta we start off with Mr bush Man.
Are you doing, man? How the family going? Brother? Good man?
Everybody good man? The girls are growing on that. I
got two of them now, so she's my oldest one
in the volleyball, you know, yeah, she better start that
third grade. So you know me, I'm like, I'm about
to try and learn how to coach them, you know
what I mean? You there, you go, at least I

(03:06):
know you got some athleticism in it. So we're gonna
we're gonna figure question when it's in her bloodline. Family,
good wife, gud yeah, man, everybody's good man. It's just
code is here here though, but it's cool. Oh yeah,
so oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right. Yeah, oh yeah. Well,
you know what, it's a little I think, the whole
the whole country little. I mean, when you see when

(03:26):
you see snow in Florida, you know something, Come on, man,
say no more? Hey what But with that with that
being said, before we get into your uh your background,
and what you got going on. I got a quick
question to ask you, because we were talking about prior
to the show, what you think about this guy that

(03:47):
went to your school Louisville, that guy Dad his quarterback, right, yeah,
the second quarterback in the NFC. No, because we know
run that Joey b that you know what I mean? So,
what what is your thoughts on his performance this past

(04:07):
weekend and more poorly? Uh?

Speaker 4 (04:10):
You know, just what what do you think about? You
know what I'm saying, it's playing you know whatever.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
No, No, man, I think he's He's right there. Man,
I ain't gonna lie to He's right there. It's just
the small things that you know, you gotta uh take
advantage of right or protect right. Everybody talking about protecting
the ball and all that. Right. But it happened early
in the game. But you've seen what he got in
that second half to come back to lead a team. Yes, sir,

(04:38):
so uh, I mean I think he needed one more receiver,
you know, that will spread him out a little more
because you already got there. You got the big back
in the backfield, you got the dual option. I do
believe he also need to do what he was drafted
for right like sometimes hey man, you see that scene,

(05:00):
think more like that's what you do. You know what
I'm saying. But he's he's a hell of a passer
right now. He is night and day, even from last year,
the year from where you used to be silent. Now
now if you're standing in the sideline doing the game,
he probably before he would hit you in the face
with the ball when he's trying to throw an outright now,

(05:23):
just hit showy. But you just got the dump out there.
But he man, and the clay, he do look like
a pump. Looks like he's playing kick. Keep dogging my
man like that bro he man, I said, I've seen
a stat though I don't know who what quarterback it was.

(05:43):
It took them seven years before they got to win something.
But you know, big, big time. There you go, pay Man,
I've seen it.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Put it in his ninth season.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
See there you go. So he going away. Man. As
long as they keep that that nucleus together, them coaches together, man,
and I know everybody gotta get your bread. I understand that. Yeah,
you can do what you can do. One more season.
I think it just opened up the floodgates.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
I will say, him not having say flyers hurt him
a little bit. Actually it might hurt him a lot.
You know, one more receiver. Yeah, I think if he
would have played now, you know, you you can't just that.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
You got to you definitely got to ski with him
when you get that that package. You know what I mean,
you like game playing. We got to. We got to
stop this young and and then I think that ball
instead of going to Mark andrew But Andrews is just
god on well, it's just that.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Was like, that was unlike Mark Andrews though, that was unlike.
That was the first time he fumbled since twenty nineteen. Bro,
that means crazy change of money.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Mo, that's not true.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
That's what they said.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
They got a mean going out right now. You look
it up on YouTube. No, on YouTube right now. Hey,
book one and more, listen now talking about they show
Andrews doing the same exact play three times, and he
dropped three us. I saw drops.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
I'm talking about fumbles.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Oh the fumble. But but see I'm not even the
fumble as much as he's fumble. You got to hold
that ball tight. That man, that defense player made the
hell of a play punching that joint out. You know
what I mean. Sometimes you got to give the defensive player.
But you know, it is what it is. But with
all that being said, couldn't play on my team, can't win?

(07:44):
What ain't that what Singletary said? Bush can win? Hey?
What's you out in the bab when he said can't
get him out here? Yeah, get him out?

Speaker 4 (07:58):
You all know, hey, but especially though with that being said, man,
we seriously all I listened to yours man, We thank you.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
We appreciate you. Uh you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Taking a little bit of time to do this interview man,
and just chop it up and come on here with
the family.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Man, I really appreciate it. Bro. No, man, I'm glad
to be here for real. You know how we go?
I ain't done not one podcast none, I said, Hey, bo,

(08:36):
Well let's get straight to it, man.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
What what we like to do here is first start
off about we like to go back right back in
your childhood. Talk to us a little bit about one
who inspired you to get into football, and just talk
about your you know, early childhood coming up.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
You know, did you play as a as a little
young or did you wait, did you go into high school?
Just us back. Let's go back. Let's start where it
all started. Man. I started. Uh, I started playing football
when I was eight. Bro Uh, I think my my
dad he taught me, you know that old school mentally
had mental you know, went the west in the Louisville

(09:15):
that single family home. You know, I had the whole thing,
not a single family but single level home. Just you know,
it's the crib, right man. I remember he drugged me
in the front yard. He was like this part right here,
that's what you hit with. Else you don't care. You
just leave with that part, you know what I'm saying,
Like that old right, yeah. Man. From then on, man,
I kind of I hadn't hit that grocerbery yet either though, right,

(09:40):
So I was you know I was. I was a
QBA then a little soft you know this back in
the day bulling the ring. You know, it was around
me living in drills. You know, I was the one
that's like noting my head hurt. I can't do it,
I can't do it. And then I was, Hey, I'm
trying to tell you I don't have nothing to do
with dudes, because we was you know back then pee

(10:02):
wee's from juniors, junior. Yeah, that's oh, that's that good boy.
Back then we had y'all heard of the name Jeremy
Johnson played for the Bengals, went to Indiana, was a
full back, number eight, big boy. This was I think
you yeah, before he was with them, Yeah, exactly, Yeah,
I think he was a big boy. I mean he

(10:25):
was just standing in the middle, bro and interception, playing
the lineback. You know what I'm saying. But we used
to have to do hitting drills and all that. I said, Bro,
I ain't want nothing to do with that, you know.
So he was about two or three years older than me. Whatever. Yeah,
you know, they won summer. I mean I was hooping
playing baseball. But then I came back that summer. Uh
so probably my twelve thirteen click hit that gross person.

(10:47):
All them folks, who was, you know, laughing and joking
and out, they were just on my head list. Bro. Yeah,
they had to see it was it had to see me.
It was talling them them find out drills and to
in that linebacker. Come on, dog, let's go. And then
I ain't looked back since then. Bro, that's what's up.
Yeah yeah, but noah man, Uh I went to Male

(11:10):
High School. Uh one state and went to the state
championship three out of four years. In football one one, Uh,
they played I was a parade All American playing corner.
Mm hmm uh play I played. I was ship third.
I think I was third secondent the state of received

(11:31):
one two years. We played lockdown man the man defense
to take away the inside, no safety over top. So
come on, now, I gotta stop you go ahead way.
I can run with you, but I can't beat you

(11:51):
up on the line though. I know. That's why. That's
why ain't playing that. I got invited to that. You know,
you get that Army Navy game. Yeah, I got invited
to that, but I was athlete, you feel me? So
I was like, nahin, I ain't playing because they I
didn't want to be on no island or nothing, you
know what I'm saying. Plus they probably would have changed

(12:12):
my position too, right, So I said, I turned it
down and didn't do that. But uh, but shit, I
also hooped too, man like did uh? Uh went to
the state three out of four years and that we
never we didn't. I was missed football. I missed football
and basketball. But my high school was ranked like top
twenty five. Yeah, I'm you know, I'm saying made's Lebron

(12:33):
in forty so I played against Lebron, Uh Saint Vincent,
Saint Mary, went to their school, lost by two Lebron
Lebron home me half five points in the first half,
finished the game with thirty seven, lost back two. Yeah,
nothing we can do about that, you feel me. We
played uh hooped against Okid with mellow uh you know
Rondos from the crib. So me and him battle when

(12:54):
he was here. You know what I'm saying. I did
all the AAU circuit when it was kind of uh
back then it was like state right, not everybody? Yeah right,
and so what's so cold to back of Tuckey. As
well as basketball, we're still the only state that has
one championship, one champion. If you six a six A
play one eight, it's basketball. The football is different. Basketball

(13:19):
they played, we lost, we lost. Uh we blew like
a fifteen point lead man my junior sophomore junior year. Yeah,
from a small school. So but now yeah bro yeah,
and then did a little baseball her little left handed
picture that probably should have stuck with that. But football
was it, bro played. I played, uh literally, I was

(13:40):
a quarterback. Then you know they got their weight limit
on you. Right fifty I turned into a pilling guard.
You feel me away from the Peter but Jelly's but
Peter butter and Jelly sandwiches. Then when I got to
high school, I was like, you know what, man, I
don't you know littlely you ain't got no tex right,

(14:00):
so you're getting hit all cannabaits. I said, Nah, I'm good,
I'm gonna play corn. I'm gonna play received with a
whole nine. And then my senior year, I end up
switching back to QB. Uh yeah, I mean shoot, I
was all stayed in about five or six different positions. Uh.
My last game I probably lost in the championship. We

(14:21):
threw it was forty nine. Uh was it forty fifty six,
forty nine or something like that, fifty fifty three. I
can't even remember my shield. But it's one of the
best high school games in Kentucky. I threw for about
five hundred, ran four hundred, had about two or three catches.
I was returning kicks the whole nine. Bro. I never
came out of the field in high school. So wow,
hold up, hold up Bush, We got some questions for you.

(14:42):
Hold up, ho ho, so.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
So Bush before I'm gonna take it back. So, so
you said you pretty much hit your stride twelve thirteen.
You knew that you was a beast in football. Well,
and it sounded like you went to an elite level
high school where where we were just elite athletes. Well,
there was there, like in a recruiting war for you
to come to certain high schools in Littleville.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Well, I think I already had the school I wanted
to go to. So the school I went to was
a traditional program, and you had to go to a
certain live in a certain area to go there. Right,
So I end up for the last shoot for about
I ended up waking up every morning my mom's taking
me to my great grandmother's house. We changed, you know,
how to go change that address and the whole nine, right,

(15:32):
so you can go to that school. And I did
that from middle school all the way through high school,
and that's how I got there. So uh oh, yeah,
that's how I got there. So I just stayed there,
and it just so happened that at that time, bro, Like,
I mean, I probably lost maybe three high school football
games and then maybe eight to ten basketball games. It's

(15:55):
just at that point in time, all the people. You know,
it's about time and right. Everything just fell feel in place.
Who was there and just made it work.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yeah, and doing your high school career, what's there? Did
you have any notable teammates or or notable opponents that
you played against.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
On the grid iron that you know that that you
can mention?

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Not not like I said, Rondo's colde Uh he played
a little football thing. We had a guy named Larry
O'Bannon who went to He went to Mayo, went to Louisville.
But man, I started meeting folks when I started playing
au basketball. Man, That's how I knew about the basketball
football cat like a big market Sparence played. You know
what I'm saying, Dude, You know what I'm saying. Uh,

(16:39):
it's just a couple. I can't. I just it's just
a couple of cats who you knew that played football
and played basketball. You know what I'm saying. So uh
du sports was a thing back then. I don't understand
now they just making you, you know, one track mind.
I feel like baseball helped with hand eye coordination. Football
helped with toughness, you know, basketball here with your feet.
You know what I'm saying you put all that together,

(16:59):
you you know you can be a good athlete. You
know you can be a Hall of Fame. There's Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
So I think we covered most of the high school
basis and who inspired you. It sounded like it was
your dad that kind of inspired you to play football.
Now I want to move it forward a little bit
and talk about the recruiting process for college. See that
you're from Louisville, But how did you reach the conclusion
of Louisvillecause you sound like a hell of an athlete.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
That was a big war right after Yeah, so, man,
I honestly wanted to go to Ohio State. Bro, God
I did. He told me that I wanted to go
to oh But I was getting recruited by all of them. Man.
I was on a visits with like JaMarcus Russell and
uh in Tennessee. Uh what's the receiver that was with

(17:48):
him in l s u uh uh Boat? Dwayne Boat? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
visit with those cash man Ohio State. I had some
uh it was it Chris Gamble like they was my
host my visits. You know. I had a dude from
my high school that went there as well, named Marcus Green.
Was at Ohio State. He was my old line, you know.

(18:09):
But that place was just like first level bro, like stadium,
like just the whole nine. Bro. I can't even like
it was just dope, bro. It was just a different,
different atmosphere too, right, But it was just me being
a lawd was kind of small at the time, having
to take a bus to get to the class and

(18:31):
all that. I was like, it was kind of overwhelming, right.
But also I came out as a quarterback though, you
know what I'm saying. So they never told me about
what's to do to want the heisman. Joyce Smith. They
never told me about Troyce Smith, right, And so not
that I was afraid of competition or nothing like that, right,

(18:53):
it was just I didn't know about him. No one
bought them up. Red Crimswell, I think, was a quarterback
at the time, and uh and I was, and I
still wonder a bouy now, what would have happened if
I went right. It's one of them things. Uh. Trussell was,
he was He was a hell of coaches, you know
what I'm saying. They won, So he was dope. But
what drew me to Louis was, uh my quarterback. My

(19:17):
high school coach. His son was Chris redd And who
played at Baltimore. Oh, the high school quarterback he was.
He was now he was the coach. His his dad
was the coach. But he played. He's older than me,
so he back, all right, so he played you know
before me. Right. So with that being said, this is

(19:38):
how I got this, how I got stuck into louis
was So Auburn was coming to recruit me all right.
By Betrino was in my house recruit me from Alburn
to play QB. Right, So I'm at so friday night
I met like yesterday. So I'm at Thursday night or
Friday night varsity. So I'm at the free throw line

(19:59):
playing basketball. You know, I hear hey man by Petrinos
coming to Louisville, like what he was just at my
house like today for Auburn home. He pulled up the
next day he recruited me for little to be quarterback.
So the reason why I went through is because Chris
Redmond was a quarterback. He knew the style that Bobby played,

(20:20):
you know how he coached, and you know that's the
NFL style. You got the arm, you got all of it. Boom, missus.
I said, shit, it's a no brainer. Then I'm feeling signed,
signed at the crib, you know what I'm saying. And
then I was also thank you for you know, life
after Bob bro like shit, man, mate, job opportunities, all
that stuff.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
You know what I'm saying, all those connections you're gonna
meet and staying at the home being a hometown legend.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Sh yeah. Yeah, So that's that's kind of how they
played out because I had a couple of schools. Was
one of me. But you know back then, if a
parents weren't going, they wasn't kind of messing with you too.
So I just asked her that I just went to
fourth place. I went to Kentucky. Kentucky probably was legit
about me playing would be too. They was joker Phillips
was the culture or think something like that, so he

(21:06):
probably they probably would have stuck me there. Uh to
Ohio State and uh Kentucky Tennessee, Ohio State. I'm at
the four. I can't think it of man, yeah, little
but that's it. That's ittle. Who's your so?

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Who was your host when you were because I don't
remember Bush. I'm gonna be honest with you. I don't remember.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Little football pretty much before you got there. I'm gonna
keep it a buck. I'm gonna keep it a buck
to you. Right. That was a political Oh no, that's
oh when we used to go go to the restaurant,
get little now, okog would have said, Louis who was
some ship before you? The biggest the biggest win was

(21:52):
they beat Florida State in the rain on the Thursday night.
Uh it might have been the thirdday night up the game.
I think my school when I started a little we
was the first school to do the Thursday Thursday night Okay, okay, yeah, yeah,
Florida State and that's probably one of the biggest game.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Damn, you ain't got to talk about Florida State. Go ahead, man, am,
I don't mess up a great thing.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Man. That's uh so that's how I end up at
Little Man.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Yeah, but so what so when you so, when you
stepped foot on campus, do you step up with obviously
you the man you from there, You got you know
all your you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
All everybody in the whole state of little was like man,
but staying home. But stay home?

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Did you start? Did you start right away or did
you start off playing. Did they say okay that first meeting.
That's why I want to know how that first meeting go.
Did you walk in the building that first meeting and
they give you the because you wore nineteen?

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Yeah? So another dude name yeah, probably knowing carry Rhodse
he played uh uh Yeahona and yeah New York yet
yeah yeah he was uh he won nineteen mm hmm.
And so I'm like, I need to let me see
if I can get him up off their So there
were just some requirements, you know what I'm saying, Like,
you know how everybody want their number they want then uh,

(23:18):
he's all. He also was there for a QB spot.
I didn't know that either, but then they moved him
in safety moved Oh but then yeah he had gaming
that number. Obviously, everybody tells you you're gonna start too
right when you're fresh. We just don't know that. So yeah, again,
like I was seeing earlier before we started, right, this
is the era where I don't think that we were

(23:40):
supposed to be quarterbacks. You feel like that dynamic is changing, right,
no question. But for that reason though, I mean, I
remember it's crazy, bro, Like the camp started, I'm thinking
I'm gonna earn spot. Yeah, I got a fair chance. Ship.
That's what they did to me, Bro. I tell you
what they did. Quarterbacks they had on certain colors.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
You feel it, right?

Speaker 3 (24:02):
I think it was yellow for us man. They don't
owe me no yellow jersey. My shit looked like everybody else, right.
And I was live, brom. I was live, the only one,
the only one too. And I was live, and I
sit learned a badge and I'm like, they trying to
get me. So I set you up? Yeah, so I wasn't.

(24:24):
I did what I was, you know, made players happened.
You know I wouldn't you know I did. If you
look at my high school, my senior year, I very
seldom ran because of that whole you know, that's what
we do, the narrative. Yeah, I tried to change that nature,
right because I grew up watching random cutting ham you
feel me? Yeah, dudes, that's why you know, wanted to
be That's why I had that number twelve and Little League.

(24:46):
But uh, when I got to like I said, I
was live practice, bro, I was like, this ship ain't right. Bro.
You know, but I'm young and ain't nobody you know
my family, you know, I had one cousin that made
it there, but no one ever through that game, so
I think, you know, right, And then they end up
giving it to Stepan land Floor for the start going

(25:08):
to Carolina. Yeah quarterback, hell of a dude. Man, he
got a great story. His whole family was deaf except
for him. Yeah, so he ended up making it and uh,
then myself, so they would put me in when we
was if we was up by a whole bunch of points,
or if we had a hell marriage going to halftime.
That's the only time I play QB, so pretty much.

(25:30):
I probably had like two completions for about twenty yards.
Moving to my sophomore year, I'm still thinking I'm going Well,
first off, I'll signed to go to blue Ward to
play basketball as well, So that had to be both
requirements for me to go to school. I forgot about that.
Oh yeah, that's amazing part. You can't leave We got
some time bush taking time, bro, we got some time

(25:52):
taking time. You can't leave that, bro. Oh no, man,
wait a minute, I don't know that, man. I brought
oopen was my favorite sport, bro. I know that. I
know your basketball hoop was your favorite. You know what
I'm saying, I'm gonna ask you some questions later and
tell you, you know, hopefully you can tell a couple
of stories about your basketball hoop with a couple of people,

(26:14):
famous people when you was out here in Arizona that
we used to talk about. But but wait a minute,
so you that was your work, So that's what. So
that's why you took Kentucky series because you was like, man,
it was that one of me. So I was getting
recruited by ISOEL in Michigan State. Wow. And and for
the football team as well too, Right, But I did.

(26:37):
I didn't have the dialogue with them like I did
other schools. You know what I'm saying. So uh, but
I talked to is Old more than a football team
than a football coach, right because back then au basketball
bro them coaches set around at court and did ooh
you feel me? And then being in little you know,

(26:59):
we ain't got no pro sports, so Tino would come
my practice all the time. Yeah. I would do open
gym with him, you feel me? It's another thing I
left out. So after my first year at Louis uh
I was go to the basketball team oopen gym to play.

(27:19):
I get a top on my shoulder. They like, hey,
you can't be here. They kicked me out, bro. So
that's how I knew I wasn't gonna better who And
then I sat down with rippertinover trying to talk to dude.
Homie didn't look me in my face. He's like, you're
a good player, but you know, he was just you know,

(27:39):
he might have been bagging in life at that time. Right,
he won national championship to hold up, but he wouldn't.
He wasn't giving me. My dad always said, if a
man can't look in your eye and tell you the
truth and can't talk to don't even do So I
was like, and I wanted to be QB too. I
was like, you know what, I'm just going ahead and
put all my time in the football, you know what
I'm saying. So but we end up being in a

(27:59):
mial champs though the football team always had a good
great in Marl squad. So but yeah, man, I was
getting recruited both sports, Ohio State, Kentucky, all of it.
So all right, just kind of fast forward back to
my sophomore year. So again I'm going to these meetings.
I'm gonna be the quarterback, the whole nine. Uh, and

(28:23):
then paying out that way in camp. But I'm still
in the meetings. The next thing, you know, they's like,
we're gonna try something. Let's do this half back toss past.
You know what I'm saying. They give me, give me
the peel, let me throw that thing down. We scored, right,
so I'm thinking, all right, maybe they're trying to incorporate
me in next thing. You know, the half back toss
pass turned into a half back toss and turn to

(28:48):
sitting there, Oh my god, coming around turn yeah, back,
man had back talk and then turns into hey, we
need you in the run a back meet. Oh that

(29:09):
was yep, yep. And then I did a little. I
played both ways at one point too. Man. When I
got to college, I played, I played outside back. We
had like a little six to one package for me.
I came off the end because I did everything in
high school. But they were honestly, man, I'm gonna tell
you how, I honestly believe about what happened because of

(29:31):
my size, because I had smooth feet. I wasn't the fastest,
but I got the job done right. I'll take a
natural football player all day, versus speed or whatever. Give
me that dog, give me that person. They can move
to the lead, but we'll get there when we get there.
But give me that Give me that dude that you
know this is gonna grind that out, you know what

(29:52):
I'm saying, and do what you're supposed to do. So, Uh,
then where I was going with it? Uh damn what
I was going to talk about?

Speaker 4 (30:02):
You talking about taking a natural football player over because
you were saying how they transitioned you from quarterback, you know,
quarterback and running back.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
You know what I'm saying. You was you was basically
telling us like what you think it was. Oh, yeah,
that's it, that's it, that's it. Because of my size
and everything. I don't I don't now they've seen me
throw the ball. I think from the get go they
didn't want me to play quarterback. Yeah all right, so
they I think they didn't know where else to put me.
Yeah right. And because I was, I had I was,

(30:34):
I had skills, I did all of it coming up. Bro,
I was at ten years old. Bro, I was hooping
with twenty years old. You feel me, Like my cousin
would come over and say, we're going to the We're
gonna go to the park and hoo, bro, if you
can't run point guard, then we're not playing and they
want to play. And so that's how, you know, I
had to grow up in the sports world. So yeah,
but then I think they had plans for Uh, it's

(30:56):
a dude up underneath me, Brian Brown, who is yeah,
who the head coach's son or the head coach Jeff
Bron who went to Little as well, played for the
forty nine ers. He's now Louis head coach. All right,
so I think they had plans. I got a story
about this. I mean little I don't even give a fuck,
to be honest with you. So this is how it happened, right,

(31:19):
So I'm sitting I catch I catched Jeff in the hallway.
This is when he's just you know, offensive coordinator trying
to figure out you know, he's he's now fresh as
a coach when I came in, right, So I'm sure
they prepping him for jet for a little Bron right,
And I'm cool with him. I ain't got no love loss.
It just what it is. And I didn't know that.
I didn't know, you know. Uh, So I catch dude

(31:42):
in the hallway, Man, I'm like a you know, freshman,
sophomore man because I was about to transfer to a
house state. Wow. Uh, all my transcripts ready to go,
the whole nine. The academic guy, I ain't gonna give
his name up. He was like, what's up to you?
Whenever you want to make that call, let me know.
I got all your stuff here. So he was on
my side, you know. Uh, but I caught coach Brown

(32:04):
in the highway. I said, man, what's up? Man? Y'all
gonna you know? How like am I here to play quarterback?
Or you know, do I get a chance or what?
And it's so crazy stuff. Something happened in that hallway.
It was just a loud thud or a loud boom,
which took my attention off of him. Man, I turned
my head. Man, homie, he walked away. Ain't nothing like it.

(32:33):
You knew what the writing on the wall was. After that,
knew what it was. I disappeared from school for about
a week. Uh. They finally called. They finally caught me.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
They called my pops like, come on, we need to
have a we need to have a meeting. And so
it was me by Petrino, my dad, running back coach,
and they sitting in there just like you know, rewinding
and playing, you know, showing my feet work, my footwork
and all this, and he's gonna be a good back
and it's this and that, and so I was like,
should I grew up doing everything? So I guess we

(33:05):
just make it happen, so right, So so they tell
you that before the before you go into the spring
of your sophomore year or to your junior year. Spring
of my sophomore year.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
But you're getting ready to be be a sophomore. You
just finished your freshman No, you just finished your sophomore year.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Yeah yeah, okay, no, no, no, no, no, I just
finished my freshman year. Okay, So you're getting ready, you
getting You're getting ready to go into the spring. You're
still on your freshman spring year. You getting ready to
go into your sophomore fall season. Yeah, because I'm going
to Matt drills thinking I'm QB. You feel me? And
then when they then they switched it on me. Yeah yeah,
yeah yeah, And again I wasn't have started. We had

(33:46):
two or three backs. They went to the league. Eric
Shelton was a big boy. They went to UH. He
went to from Florida State to Louisville. Then he went
to Carolina. Yeah he can, yeah he was and he
can run. He was fast too, so he was a
different version of that Derreck Henry's on a different level.
But that's the type of body you feel me right,
six four sixty five, you know, solid, can can you know,

(34:10):
run away from anybody. And then we had another dude
named Ronald Gates who ended up going to Tampa Bay.
And then there was another dude who was running back
that they recruiting named Kobe Smith who played at Kansas City.
M hm uh, you know, so all four of us
are splitting time, you see what I'm saying. So until

(34:30):
them two singers left, then I started my junior year
as a starter at running back. Wow, I didn't know that, man,
I do that. I ain't never played running back. Bro. Wow,
even I believe me and Kobe bro we were so
talented already. I think that running back coach we had

(34:52):
was coach running backs and tight ends, but in that
meetings he was doing more talking to tight ends. So
I truly didn't get coch. You know, I ain't gonna
say that because I can't take away from his name
is Greg nort I can't take away nothing from him
because he did. You know, we did drills. I didn't
really get individual coach and until I got to the league,
right yeah, hold for the lead, Hold up, Hold, we

(35:16):
got some more questions about this little Wait a minute,
enjoying money more. I know, money more got for you?
All right?

Speaker 5 (35:25):
Yeah, So looking at we talked about Louisville not being
on the map. I actually remember you vividly at the
University of Louisville before Lamar Jackson was there.

Speaker 6 (35:36):
In my mind, you were the most exciting player. So
take us back to that time.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
We got it. They didn't pull the okie doke on
you for the fans that you was the listeners. This
is not nineteen sixty three. This is two thousand and three.

Speaker 6 (35:49):
They okie doke and black quarterbacks to play running back.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
Right, So, but you got that pill.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
Now take us through one game where you just like,
you know what I'm on one day, I mean, I'm
in that zone.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
What ship that pretty much every time the ball was
in my hand, bro, because I mean, because being from
being here, they changed it. Bro. It's different now. The
first game of the year was Louisville Firs Kentucky MM hmm,
Thursday night. You feel me. You got the world looking

(36:22):
at you, right, so you gotta be on you know
what I'm saying. So they I mean and but I
was a junior. So my el was the first game,
first year, playing running back, bro I had thirty carries.
You talking about I can't walk the next day, man, Yeah,
but they were thirty. I had thirty. I had about

(36:43):
one hundred some yards the thirty beings, I think I
had about two touchdowns. We end up I never lost
to Kentucky, but that was that was like welcome to
college for me.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
I was walking to college adding on or or to
peeback off with what money? Most said, what was your
break game?

Speaker 3 (37:00):
What you're saw? Because you said you didn't start to
your junior year, So what game was it that you said?
Oh yeah, I'm yeah, like this is row. Don't know.
It was just it was just different, you know, like
I had. We ain't really play that. I ain't gonna
say we ain't playing nobody because Memphis kicked our butt
all the time. That's when Dangelo what's his name, Dangelo? Uh?

Speaker 6 (37:22):
He Williams from Carolina, Carolina.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
We played against Big Ben Rossell Roethlisberger. We played against
Miami when Hester and all the Cats was there, you
know what I mean. Yeah, we are in the in
the in the Orange Bowl, but it was just certain
we played like a utep. I had ten carriages for
two oh one you know what I'm saying, like eighty
one yard Like it was just different, you know what

(37:51):
I'm saying. But we ain't have all the social media
that everybody had, you know, like I can show y'all,
but it's just small things. Where we played against Connecticut
because we was in a conference USA, and then we
went to the Big East, right, well, we played against
Yukon and Yukon the snow, and it's just certain ways
like I would hit the hole and you know, just
kind of just gracefully popping through, you know what I'm saying,

(38:13):
like showing people the footwork and catch out the back field.
I can throw the whole nine. So it was just
all clicking. Man.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
So yeah, to expand on that bush, I know you
said your sophomore year was the first time you playing
running back outside of your not you athletic ability. How
much did you learn about playing the running back from
the from the ogs that was dead playing running back,
like you mentioned Eric she Shelton Ronald Gates. Did you

(38:40):
did you pick up anything from them? Did you learn
anything from from them watching them play the running back position?

Speaker 3 (38:46):
Uh? Keep it a buck between the two. I think
Gates was the most physical one, right because he was
a little shorter, little you know, he's a Flora boy, right,
So he was more like you know, Duvalal County type.
You know what I'm saying, I'm gonna run through your

(39:07):
face right where Gates was, I mean where Sheldon was taller, bigger, soft, softer, right,
They ain't trying to take nothing away from being made
to the lead when you needed that hard nose, I'm
hitching it like like Marshan Lynch, punch you in the
face over and over and over. I don't think he
had that. I don't think that was his style, you

(39:27):
know what I'm saying. So I learned, like all right,
how to lean forward, how to get them extra yards,
how to get that tough down, how to you know
what I'm saying. It's you know, third and twelve. The
ain't no point of trying to run somebody over if
you ain't gonna get the first time. So being smart
with your body. But then if it's fourth and one
or thirty one, made the best man win, you know

(39:48):
what I'm saying. So and learning how to use your
size and them shoulder pads and they leverage you know
as as your as your friends. So uh, that's kind
of what I learned from them. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
And with the love of success that you had at
the running back position. In hindsight, are you glad that
they made the change from quarterback to running back? Are
you still kind of like?

Speaker 3 (40:11):
Man?

Speaker 2 (40:12):
I wish I wish I would have stayed at you b.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Well, you said, Man Again, I tell people, man, it's
a big statement, but I hold on. I'm true to
who I am and my confidence self. I always say
I was Lamar Jackson before Lamar Jackson, right because little
wa ain't never seen a winning quarterback. I guarantee you
at the time my arm was better than him. I
put my arm up against anybody at the time. Right. So, Uh,

(40:36):
you used to look at my high school status and
how through the ball shit is I guarantee you People
say that, Uh, but.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
I made it right mm hmm. So uh.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
My only thing by college is again it goes to
my senior year. That shit turned my world upside down.
I don't know if y'all remember.

Speaker 4 (40:58):
Yeah, wait wait, wait me so do all our listeners
and bushes going crazy?

Speaker 3 (41:08):
He got Louisville on the map. Junior junior year, right,
junior junior year, I let the nation sing, I led
the nation scoring my junior when white Reggie Bush all
the cans there he got, he got, Bush got Louisville
being relative. Besides basketball in college football game, everybody was
playing that. That was me on that yeah, ESP year,

(41:31):
but everybody talk about that book. Right, So you going to.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
Your senior year, let's walk. Let's let's walk our viewers
and all our listeners and viewers do this. So you
go to your senior year. What game you said, you
said your senior year change the world?

Speaker 3 (41:47):
Yep? Tell our listeners to your viewers, and what happened?
And what game was it? Was it late in your
senior year? Was it game? The game of the season,
first game of the season, your parade all America for
a potential Heisman type shit in top fIF you guarantee
top twenty, top fifteen picks guaranteed first you guaranteed to

(42:12):
go first round. YEP. That's when I came back to school. Yep, yeah, yep, yep.
So uh yeah, man again, open up on Thursday night
against Kentucky, only only only game on TV at that day,
so you know everybody's watching. This is when that Thursday
night became Thursday night, right yeah. Uh we opened up
a game with a reverse to my man Harry Douglas,

(42:33):
you know who took it to the crib. And then
next series I come in, they give me a little
you know, you know, we check check and play a
little draw action bumm to the crib for about fifty
Uh so I end up finishing. I only play the halfs.
I probably finished with like one twenty eight and two touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (42:50):
Uh so again wait wait wait, wait, hold on second,
real quick, just a quick, quick second, man, how good
was your officer?

Speaker 3 (42:58):
Did you actually? Did you some of your officers linemen? Bro?
We had our line were big, bro, we had they
were huge bro. Yes, big guy, okay, big boys, I mean,
but they was good too. So okay, okay, go ahead,
go ahead, go ahead. Yeah uh so, yeah we're up
by I don't even know where we're up, but man,

(43:19):
it was a blur, but we was killing them right,
So coach the third quarter will come out. Start is
gonna get your first drive. We're gonna sit you down.
Oh right, Oh I'm already done, man. You shut me down.
You yeah. We uh we run a top sweep to

(43:41):
the left, which is what we ad. It's just a
talk sweep, right, Ain't nothing I've done them, you know,
being sweeps. You feel me? Uh playing against Kentucky Wesley Woodyard,
you know he played linebacker for a long time in Denver. Yeah,
so uh, I hit that. I'm hitting that, hitting that

(44:02):
left side, killing him. I'm trying to put that stiff
farm on him. She only grabbed that, you know, just
right here them shoulder pass for side like that, and
it's just timing was messed up, right. I had that
right arm in the ground hand on him. He sat
down and then when you know he would you can't
eat you. You know you can't tackle like that, no more. Can't.

(44:25):
If you tackled horse collaring whatever it's called whatever, you
can't tackle like that no more. And just spat down
on me, bro, and then that ship just just sliced
my legs. So broke it. So I heard boom, I
just heard it. It's just loud, bro, It's just like
a steak. Just heard it and I'm laying there. Man,
I'm just like, man, what was that? So I ain't

(44:48):
wasn't thinking nothing of it, and adrenaline is still pumping.
I just heard it, but you know what I'm saying,
it wasn't hurt. So I grabbed my I grabbed my
man my teammate's arm to get up ship. I'm like, bro,
my right leg ain't touched ground. I looked down. I've
seen that knee cap up and that from that ankle
ish up a little butter ankle to shin area, just
hanging over like that. Bro, I just went a head

(45:12):
and sat on back down the ground, like you know,
come on, come and get it, bro. So coach run
over there. It's like, what's wrong, Mikey, get the air
knocked out of it? I said, hell now, coach, look
at my leg. Hum just like oh, I didn't walk
away And that was a that didn't real quick. So
that's how she wrote. Man, So I got a lot

(45:33):
of damn. I guess you can say a lot of
trauma from that ship as you get over it, because
I call it trumpa. It's a life lesson, right. It
showed me how to bounce back, how to be strong,
how to fight through, how to persevere. Right, folks came
in crying, but I was in the hospital, like you know,
and shit, it's all good, man, Like that's just a bone.

(45:54):
I'm gonna bounce back, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 7 (45:56):
Yah?

Speaker 2 (45:58):
Yeah, man?

Speaker 4 (45:59):
Yeah, but Bush, can you tell our listeners and viewers
and even me? I don't even think I only you know,
So did you was your I know you was thinking
about coming out. How close were you think about to
leave school your junior year?

Speaker 3 (46:18):
Okay? So so did you have like a mid like
maybe a second day second to you know, maybe second? Yea?
They projected late second, early third. Okay, I'm like, you
know what ship I think Reggie had left already and
it was me, Marshawn and Adrian Peterson. Top three, top

(46:39):
three backs. That's how I looked at the top three backs, right,
one of our you know, top three, all three of
y'all going would have went. Yeah, all three go first
round for sure. That's what That's what I was thinking
in my mind. So I said, I'm gonna go back
to school. Why not? You know what I'm saying, It's
a no brainer. Yeah, yeah, man, but it's just the

(47:01):
stuff that I missed out on, bro, like the you know,
just the ceremonies and the you know, just all the
stuff that come along with going to that next level
that you experienced that you can't never get to. You know.
That's what, Yeah, made me a little messed up a
little bit, so true.

Speaker 6 (47:16):
Yeah, yeah, man.

Speaker 5 (47:22):
So you know the kind of spring forward you suffered
that I didn't know about the injury. I didn't see
that in the research, but I do know what I
did see. So despite that injury, you were still drafted
in the fourth round. I believe that we in Oakland
at that time. Yet they didn't move so damn much

(47:43):
by the Oakland Raiders at that point. So talk to
me a little bit about that. How you feel that
day now that the injury happened. Do you feel like
that kind of held you back a little bit?

Speaker 3 (47:54):
Yeah? Oh man, that was one of the longest drafts
in NFL history, right, that's what JaMarcus Russell was the
first round pick. You feel me that was the longest.
You look it up as the longest drift in NFL history.
So it's how much of a mind fuck it was
for me. I get a call from ESPN saying, hey,
we want to come and feel you, you know, and

(48:16):
your family when your name get called here. I am
no bread you know how with money, I'm frugal with it.
I want to be smart with it. So we go
and rent out a restaurant because I'm thinking, you know,
it's gonna happen in that first you feel me three rounds,
you know, and even my again uh uh Bibatrino end

(48:37):
up going to Atlanta. So I'm thinking, I'm definitely gonna
be gone. Yeah, he's gonna come. He's gonna come. He
might not get your first round, but he definitely gonna
scoop you in the second. Gonna come through it, right,
So you know, all these names is coming off. I
talked to San Diego. They're like, man, we definitely gonna
get you in the third round. If you're still there
Atlanta again by Patrino. His brother Paul calls and say

(48:59):
he left for it's on my phone. Man, if you're around,
it's like the fifth or sixth round something. We was
gonna grab you that ship, bro. I wanted to give
you a finger just from that ship. Sick asshole. Yeah potentially, Yeah,
I should have been you know, don't do that. You
know what I'm saying, right, but uh but yeah, man,
so we know we weren just spot out for have

(49:21):
the longest name never got called, name never got called.
That was the longest they ever bro I end up
like you know what, materfuck, We're going to waffle house
to eat. Then that's when I got a call from
Oakland something. Were going to draft you tomorrow, the first
pick one hundred dang yep. Yeah. So then that's that's
how it happened. Crazy did you? So let me ask

(49:42):
you this talking to go back, just just a tad
bit your your process is coming out right. I want
our listeners to viewers to know about the loyalty and
the type of human being that you are because I
know what's right. That's why I'm bringing it up. Old
man wait wait bus boos wait wait wait wait, So

(50:03):
I'm out. I want you. I want you to tell
our listener and viewers this because I'm pretty sure people
it was so many agents, so many people, so many
financial advisors, so many people. Hey bush bush bush bush Bush, Hey,
we're gonna do this for you. We can do this.

Speaker 4 (50:19):
So I want you to I want you to tell
our listeners and viewers, how did you set up? Well,
you know what happened, because I know some of those
people that was.

Speaker 3 (50:26):
Bush bush bush bush Bush. When you hurt yourself all
of a sudden, they was gone, yeah, man, yeah, take
us a little bit through that and then tell us
a little bit what how did you wind up signing
with the agent or whatever that you want to you know.
So this is when it was like that Drew Roseen
Houses and all them cats was big, right. So again

(50:48):
they always yeah, they always wrote out the carpet. You
know what I'm saying, we go, we want you to
be here, we want you, We're gonna sign you the
whole nine. This is before all that happened. But as
soon as that day came, or that injury came, that
phone that was blowing up that ship when when they
say zero dark thirty, yeah you never it was over.

(51:10):
It was over right. So but this one guy stayed
persistent the whole time. Uh. His name is Todd Franz. Uh.
He was based out of Atlanta. Yeah, Todd, we know, yeah,
I know, Todd got yeah guys like yeah he had
and all that I think too, I think yep, yeah,
uh he stayed persistent. Man, And he's like, well, do

(51:30):
you go ahead? Come if you stayed. If you stay,
I'm gonna come and get you next year if you
want to go back for medical you know what I'm saying.
So uh to me, it was a no brander with him. Okay.
And then the financial guys were actually since I was
in the training room, a lot of the times that
last year were actually my trainers financial people. Wow. And
so I had already built the relationship with him. Wow.

(51:53):
So it stayed there, right. So that's how I got
my financial people so okay. Cool. So you had to
the draft like they were took money on them talking
about so you get drafted to Oakland fourth rown talk
tell us a little bit about that. You get the
call you at the waffle house? Did you you go?

Speaker 7 (52:12):
You go?

Speaker 3 (52:12):
You say, man, let's go, let's go party, or you
said no, I shoulder You're like, man, I'm about to
I'm about to just man, yo, I'm a shoulder league.
They missed out on one. Yeah, chip on my shoulder.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
Man.

Speaker 3 (52:27):
So trying not to go back. I had to go
back to the combine and do a medical recheck because
I had to have a second surgery because my bone
had wouldn't finish. Hell, so for six months I was
walking with a limb, right, and then I had to
go back to the combine. They called it the non
delay union. So then I had to go have a
second surgery. And then after they put a big ride
in it. In three days, I was jogging so without

(52:50):
then everybody you know, knew I was good. I was
banking on like the Willis mcgahey, like he took blew
his knee out right, so I know somebody gonna come
to grab me early, right, So uh that didn't happen.
So uh yeah, man, I didn't go party that day.
Uh next day, just on over Grandma's house. That's where
I stayed at you know when I got that, you know, uh,

(53:12):
staying just with they, you know how we all made
got had fun. Man, I didn't. I didn't really enjoy
the party and saying until and I resigned in Chicago.
Stop right there, you got who was your coaching Ok,
let me ask you this one quick question. Who was
the coach in Oakland at the time the drafted man ship.

(53:33):
Laane Kiffin was the first coach wh so he drafted.
You know, I was the same meet, Like I said me, uh,
this is when they traded Randy Moss because we had
because they had we had JaMarcus Russell was gone, he
wasn't there yet, younger than me. They had Lamont Jordans.

(53:54):
Oh yeah, yeah, he from the Creative Yeah, Lamont Jordan's
and uh to la Mont Jordan and uh Justin Fargas.
Yeah you see what the USC Yeah yeah so yeah,
uh but nah, man, I still fight people with with

(54:16):
with about you Mark. It's like, bro, he's very talented, bro,
and you don't you do not give away Randy Moss.
So that's an organizational problem, right, you don't give away
Randy Moss for a later pick. You feel me? Anyway,
that's whole enough story because he was an athlete to
dude and was cool. Me and him, hunt got real tight,

(54:37):
you feel me when we when we was rookies men,
me and me and Jay Rock. So okay, but yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (54:42):
Went to and then y'all also, could you shared earlier
you guys had a previous relationship because you guys that went.

Speaker 3 (54:48):
To the l s U recruit correct, Yeah, yep, yeah, yep.
So but yeah no, so then they they draft me,
so I go through the whole they put me on
the pup list, and so as I'm learning shit, so
let me tell you back the story. So I'm in
the meeting room, lamont he over dozing off and ship right,
So he tapped me on my legs when they when

(55:09):
they turned around, y'all fell to wake me up. I'm
not gonna wake you up. They show job, bro, this
is you know, and I'm hunger too, man, this show
wake up? Could you sleep? You know what I'm saying?
So right, Uh, but anyway, I didn't play none the pups,
so for like eight to twelve weeks or something like that,
I had to just work out, you know what I'm saying.

(55:31):
Then they let me practice and then they put me
on the injury reserve. So my whole rookie year nothing,
I didn't get nothing, they didn't like. It was like
a basically it was like a rehab year for you,
pretty much a rehab year. Okay, okay, So then that
second year, then that's when they drafted duram it fat
mm hmm. Yeah, and then that's when that health and
then that's when my whole ship was like all right,

(55:52):
y'all trying to y'all don't think you know what I'm saying.
Don't don't get me twisted. D Mag was a beast.
D Mag was a beast right, so you can't take
nothing away from him. Hard and fast. We had fun.
That was that was my dog, bro. You know, you
know the whole they was in my wedd you feel me? Yeah,
so beast right? He Bush was mcfat Was mcfatten there

(56:16):
with uh? Was was he there with you guys? With
Rock too? Yep? So Rock came later. So it was me. Okay,
there was me, mcfad that justin Fargas, okay, in the
running back room, in the running back room, okay, go ahead,
go ahead, and Zach Crockett and Lorenzo O'Neill, oh yeah,
big zone. Yeah, shut up. He used to say, man,

(56:39):
get on my hip and don't dip. That was his.
That was running the zone scheme. Uh but yeah, man.
But even then that second year, okay, I got playing
a little more. But for some reason, man, they picked
by the last game of the year. Men, like, yes,
they was going against Tampa Bay. We had to beat
them to go into the so they get knocked out
the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (57:00):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 3 (57:01):
I had like I had one seventy seven for two tuties.
But Justin got hurt, you feel me? D Mac got hurt,
and they still trying to put them motherfuckers back in
the game. And man, what's 'all bring me here for?
And I ain't really looked until you pitched me. I said, Man,
why y'all draft me? Then you feel me? You know,

(57:21):
and then finally gave me a shot. Man. I shit,
I went running with that thing, you know what I'm saying.
But ain't nothing I can do because they drafted d Mac.
You know, yeah, yeah, top top, Yeah he got They
got that bag too, so I couldn't do nothing. So
I just you know, then we start doing the whole
two back system that third year, right. Uh. Then that

(57:43):
fourth year I did my thing then because he was
getting hurt and I stayed you know. Uh. Then that
fourth year, uh should I ended up trying to hold
out for a tender, right, I held out trying to
get a resigned, So I ended up getting the first
second round grade. So that was one one season for
two eights. That's when I started parting. And then you

(58:04):
feel me, uh you know, but that that that meant
something to me because they somebody had to get my
first run and the second round pick just to come
and get me right again. I felt like I proved
my I proved myself. I didn't I didn't care about
past block and I hit you in the mouth when
you come down the hole. I remember hitting Sean Mary
and come Sean Merryman coming down at a gap. Let's

(58:26):
go big dog me and you. I didn't care. You
know what I'm saying. Like we hit each other's boom.
We jumped back. Dude looked at me. He came again.
I said, nope, I'm gonna cut your big ass. You
ain't gonna f yeh. But that was it, man, and

(58:49):
we went through a couple of coaches and Jason Campbell
was our quarterback after as well. Oh getting Campbell, they
called him go get it Campbell in DC money Moowe,
because you don't know what I could go get get it.
I don't know where it is. You think Lamar Jackson
hit people in the face on the sideline. This man

(59:11):
hit the fans. Hey, hey, hey money more her Hey
look pep, I'm talking about that first second row. They
called him, go get it. Cample. You you're throwing a post.
You me and we had we also had. We had

(59:34):
Carson palmerpter we went eight and eight, swept the division,
traded traded for UH, traded for big Richard Symour from
New England. You know, we was good, but we didn't.
We didn't make the playoffs. You feel me? So not
so your whole time in openand you didn't make the playoffs,
not one Yeard Never you had Lane Kiff in your

(59:55):
first year Lane Kiff. Uh. Then they had Tom Tom
Cable who was our offensive court who was already our
old line coach. Okay, and then he took the head spot,
and then he moved down again to Hugh Jackson became
the head coach there. Yeah, yeah, I like you. Next question.

(01:00:21):
See this only thing with Hugh Jackson bro so d
Man got hurt. They would do their own little team
meetings and I would hear ship like as if I
couldn't get the job done, you feel me? And then
playing against UH day night, playing against the Chargers, come on,
I had like one on the ground. Put it like this.
I broke Bo Jackson's all purpose yard record all purpose

(01:00:45):
yards in that game to get into the record. Boots,
you know what I'm saying. So I'm showing I go
on to an interview, like, man, I did this ship,
you know for people who doubt me. You know what
I'm saying. I went math, but I was calling my math,
you know what I'm saying. So you know, did that
and then I became a free agent. Mm hmm. So

(01:01:07):
this is again, this is around the time when they
start devaluing running backs. You feel me, you gotta have
two backs, you gotta do this. Yeah, the offer I had,
I had two offers on the table, uh one from Cincinnati,
which I thought they was gonna pull the trigger, but
they end up getting being Jarvis green ellis Okay, did.

Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
I don't even think he stayed with us only he
ain't even if you look at it, he ain't even
stay with He didn't even come close to finishing his
uh uh a contract with US.

Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
I think we got rid of him after the second year. Yeah, yep.
So he set the market when they paid him some bullshit.
I don't know what he made, but it wasn't enough.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
But uh.

Speaker 3 (01:01:55):
You know, because and then uh, Seattle came to me
because Tom Cable into Seattle, right, He's like, look, you
come here, We're gonna want a super Bowl. That's the
year they want a super Bowl. But here here's the
thing though, Bro, Now, man, you it's just my I'm
free agent. I donet show that I can ball, So
why would I go and play behind Marshaan Lynch? Yeah, yeah,

(01:02:18):
that's right.

Speaker 4 (01:02:19):
In your two Shoda is a similar style back big downill.
It wasn't like it wasn't like you was going to
Seattle when they got like a scat back or a little.

Speaker 3 (01:02:29):
Shining that dog too, right, So no question because you
know I hung with him API and all. I still
talk to dude. But anyway, so they offer like three
for ten and then Chicago was last on the plate,
so I guess they was talking the most money for fourteen. Right,
So it's like, man, you go there, you don't take

(01:02:50):
ship right now, I'm behind another fucking all up. Sorry
for cuss, but I'm behind another Hall of Fame. I'm
just saying, Bro, I'm behind another, behind you, behind fourteen. Yeah,
I'm behind hey right, the smoothest, smoothest dude. Bro. He
looked like he coached, but he that dude is getting it, bro.

(01:03:13):
But this month would never want to come off the field, bro.
Ship Bro was one of these guys. He was not
he's rerapping his He's repping his brand. Workhorse like bro
homieould Homie would come to practice with a mask on
Bro like one of the masks in practice. Like he

(01:03:36):
was just on a different level, dude, Like you feel
me so. But at the same time, now, this goes
back to my time in Oakland with a with a
bunch of backs in high school with a college with
a bunch of backs. Coach love Smith was my first coach.
M he was cool, I like lovely. But then my
second coach is Mark Treshman, so they motherfucker be on

(01:03:58):
side of the road. I wouldn't say even, but like
I talked to dude, I said, hey, man, at that time,
I was like the second or like the highest paid
back up in the lead, right, So I said, well,
let me earn my key, trust me. Like that's trying
of hard to get him off the field. But if
a coach like you and they want you to play,

(01:04:19):
they're gonna find ways to get you the ball. Bro.
I hate I hate it being labeled as a short
goal line back, but I was good at it. They
ain't even give me that ship. I didn't even This
is my second year going in. I didn't even touch
the bro I didn't even I didn't even touch the
field period.

Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
So for before when you signed, when you made your
decision to go there, did they give you any expectations like, hey,
you're gonna this amount of carriers.

Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
We're gonna not that well, you know, dude was holding out,
Matt was holding out. It was contract gear for him,
you feel me. And they end up getting that bag too,
So he got the big bag, the bigger bag. So
and what nothing I can do right, you know what
I'm saying. So they never set the expectation. We never
knew how long it's gonna hold out for. But again,

(01:05:06):
that ship still never deterred me because it's opportunity. To
give me the same opportunity as others, it's gonna look
totally different. I'm more of like a clock manager, a
game manager, like we're gonna pound you when it's four
minutes to go, Bush, is your time to go? We're
gonna ride. Yeah, man, we're gonna and if we don't

(01:05:27):
get a first down, you're gonna make it up on
Tuesday or Wednesday. When I see something, you better know
if I put you in, boy and it's four minutes ago.
You better get every first man.

Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
We need.

Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
Many more when I say bush, no, when I see
you on win extra extra sprints, more arm days or
something right on Saturday instead of I used to tell boys,
but say, oh, like I come in this early group,
I said, not which I take care of you. Don't
worry about you. Come on around, don't worry about I

(01:06:05):
got you, big dog, I got Yeah, you know that's
that's that's crazy, man. I didn't. I didn't know that.
I didn't know that. So everybody saying your career right,
it's who It depends on who's looking at your career right. Yes,
because you made it, but that don't mean that's how
you wanted to play out. You feel me. I won't
change it for nothing in the world though. It put
me and my family in good places. You feel me,

(01:06:27):
So I won't change that. But it's just that situation.
And then uh, I had to I had to work
out with the Redskins after that. At the time, Oh
you remember that, bro, the probably the best shape you've
ever seen me in my life. Bro to the point
where they had other people that was there working out
standing around watched me work out, and I look at

(01:06:49):
the coach and say, Ship, what else you need for me?
What else we want to do? Nothing? They send my
ass on it mo fucking bus. So I guess it
was you know, but that that's just the flating bro
as athletes. After you left Chicago, you went to Man,
I ain't need touching. It's a dirty game, bro, Arizona.

(01:07:11):
How about to say you came out here to Arizona, right, Ship?
About two months? Yeah? Two months?

Speaker 7 (01:07:18):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:07:19):
Uh again, general manager? When I walk in there, he's like, man,
we're glad we got you, and find you at home
the whole nine walking in the equipment room, training room,
the whole nine. Uh might be Andre Ellerton. He ended
up going down yeah, yeah, yeah, he ended up going
down to Atlanta. So Ship, I wasn't dressing, but the

(01:07:41):
next week it was my time. I'm like, Ben bro,
it's a perfect time, right. Yeah. I'm still working out
with you in Bro right, so I'm good. So Tuesday
Wednesday taking first team reps. My Thursday got me on
scalt okay, why Friday like, hey, dirt, once you finish

(01:08:05):
your workout, they want to see you upstairs. I was like,
I already knew what it was. But you came in
in shape, you look good, the whole nine. But we're
just gonna go in a different direction. Damn so mind you.
I walk up out of the room right that general
manager who is all in my face. M that motherfucker
walk past me like I never existed, didn't speak. Get

(01:08:30):
I get this, I get home. It's the worst person.
I get home. The runner back coach, comedy, receiver coach comedy.
What happened? Fuck you mean y'all the coaches, they don't
even know you're gone. Damn know, I'm going, Yeah, y'all
tell me what happened? Then then I then I see
you want to do at the waste Management you know
I'm in that got ship. I see want to coach

(01:08:51):
at the waste Management open you know, Arizona. How you doing? Bush?
Fuck you mean how I'm doing? I'm out here watching
this ship when I should be. Hey boy, hey, who
was the coach at the time. It wasn't Bruce ERNs
wasn't Yep, it was Bruce and Yep. Yeah, yeah, we

(01:09:13):
just had uh because Palmer was at the carson Palmer
was he wanted that Libby to get me there.

Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Yeah, he working and open, so so we're running back
that they end up going with.

Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
Some dude from the practice squad. They pulled him up.
People cheaper than me. I guess damn mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
And they say it's a dirty business, brother, But damn.

Speaker 3 (01:09:35):
Yeah, bro, you don't. You don't notice it. Bro, It's crazy.
You don't know until you know it bro to you,
until it happened to you. You know what I'm saying.
You can be out there, you know, you be after
practicing and you see the other four or five backs
after working out, You're like, why they out here working out?
Sh somebody better get on their ship, you know what
I mean. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:09:52):
So, so if you experienced all that you and you
in Arizona flour two months you you felt it was
perfect time. You thought you was finally going, you got
a home and get your shot, and then that that
bullshit happened, Like what's your mindset now?

Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
But uh oh, they threw a veteran combine out there,
that motherfucking veteran combine. Bro. I was I was halfway
committed and I was halfway out of it at the
same time. Right, Uh, I feel like I never should
have done it. But every day he's like, oh, man, yeah,

(01:10:34):
because they wanted you to do like the forty and
all this ship bro, and uh render they said, I render?
What was it over four nine or something something like that. Yeah,
so and it was all electronic, bro. So soon as
you put your hand down that beat, Bro, I ain't
finna run. I'm not finna run none of that ship

(01:10:55):
and fast that Hey. But with money more this how
he can say what he wants say this How I
know cuse I knew it was over Bush always when
he came out there, when he came to Arizona to work,
all right, he worked and he gonna now he gonna

(01:11:15):
but he gonna play some golf. He is a golf
so Bush as well as who you had on the show,
Nate Clemens. These guys are big time golfers.

Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Like golfers, they do trips, they play all around the country,
all around the work.

Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
So. But but when it came time to do his
work money, Moe, he gonna base his golfing off of
when his training is. So if he trained a ten,
he's like, oh can I train at ten? Because I
got a tea time at one. I'm gonna get there
a little early, get some you know, hit when it

(01:11:52):
came towards that end, after that Washington shit whatever, boys
come back. Oh got about thirty five forty with I
got a t time at Letter. Say, Bus, it's ten o'clock.
We ain't even get the warm up yet, and I

(01:12:13):
got to leave out. He look woit man, I said, Bus, Well,
where's the where you playing at? You playing a golf
around the corner. It's ten o'clock. He said, That's what
I'm telling you. That's what we got.

Speaker 4 (01:12:23):
About thirty five minutes. I got a twenty minute prime
actual golf course. And that's what I knew.

Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
But see, that's why I said, it's cool to hear
hear you know what I'm saying, these stories from the
pro guys, the bat guys, because sometimes you never know
what someone is going through, right, You never know, you
know what I mean, So to hear their stories and
I in some of these things, Bush, we was together

(01:12:51):
every day for four months, you know, for in some
of these stuff. Some of these stories I didn't know,
you know.

Speaker 4 (01:12:57):
So it's good to get this interaction man, and and
I we we appreciate you, and our listeners and viewers
appreciate you sharing this.

Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
Man. We really do. Bro it's this some dope stuff. Man,
for sure, it was good. No, we ain't done. We
got a couple more. We know, we got some more questions.
Oh wait a minute, hold up, bro, wait wait wait up.
So I know you, so you finished your career. You

(01:13:25):
know whatever, be tell will you?

Speaker 4 (01:13:28):
If you don't mind sarant, can you please tell our
listeners and viewers, because the reason why I'm bringing this up,
Bush is because I met this gentleman.

Speaker 3 (01:13:39):
And I remember you telling me about your brother in law,
and and I met your brother in law. Actually I
had him come in there work out. Yeah, you got
him come in there a couple of times. But but
the time I was talking trash to him and telling
him I could beat him in basketball, was at your wedding. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:13:58):
Yeah, Well I have been dating this beautiful Palestinian and
Filipino lady right and I and I said, you know what,
I really liked this girl.

Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
I want to see if we can go out and
hang out.

Speaker 4 (01:14:14):
So you know, we've been to dates and stuff, but
we've never we had never been to any functions together.
So when you said so, when Mike Bush, Moneymoe and
Coke invited me to his wedding, I said, you know what,
I'm going to invite this beautiful young lady that I'm
dating by the name of bring my wife or whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
So that Bush you don't I think I told you,
but you don't know. That was one of our first times,
in one of our first like serious dates, being out,
you know, together and saying, hey, this is my you know,
this is my girlfriend, this is my you know, and
stuff like that, and your whole family and all your

(01:14:54):
former teammates Deeve mcfahn and obviously already knew Rock and
the whole crew, everybody. It was beautiful, but you had
one gentleman there, so Moore. I was talking to him
every time he got him to go to the snack
ball to the dollar Bush wedding was off the change too,
now that jot lit. So every every time he got up,
I would up. Yeah, I don't believe what they're saying.

(01:15:16):
His brother in law. If you don't mind, can you
tell our listeners if yours, who your brother in law is?
And you know if you don't mind, No, No, it's
uh it be it was being it's being Sam. It's
been said Ben. Yeah. So I met man. Shoot, I
met Ben when he was like ten mm moment. His look.

(01:15:37):
He was shorter than me when I met him, and
he just you know, every time I would go to
Australia or whatever, Uh, he got another installer, another installer,
you know, nanny like sixteen and ship so so. But uh,
he would come in Arizona and stay at the crib.
You know what I'm saying, A circuits or whatever traveling. Yeah,

(01:15:57):
I heard a and all that stuff. And for sure,
and I was talking crazy cold. I said, Man, you
can't guarantee you can't see me on the drift. You
know what I'm saying. I bet you I can school
on you. Bet that you already know for sure. But no, no, man,
but he was he was cold. Man, I ain't gonna

(01:16:20):
say it was. He still got it in him.

Speaker 4 (01:16:21):
Yeah, he just got he got he'd be all right. Yeah,
I mean sometimes you know, you come up in situations
and things like that.

Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
You know, he had a lot of he had a
lot of going forward, like back issues and surgeries and
all that stuff. Some of the some of the wrong
people in this area about whole now and all. I
think I probably talked to you about some of that ship.
But for sure, I can't I can't step in. And
I've done it, right, I've been there. So I wanted

(01:16:50):
so bad for him to just reach out and say big,
help me out right or something. Just didn't do it.
And I can't tell another man or his day out
of what I think. Yeah, the process. But he's in there,
he's still there. You know that's automatic. Got he got
that guaranteed.

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
He good, He's good, super good.

Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
Kobe, y'all got y'all got anything else for him? Or
or what I got? I got now, I got time, money, more,
take a time.

Speaker 5 (01:17:26):
So I know you came through at a at a
bad time. It's a bad time, terrible time, right. I
tell Cobe the same thing, right, he was ahead of
his time, he was playing. Now he be a hundred millionaires, right,
same thing with you in the running back re surch Is,
my question for you is I'm looking at the current
landscape of the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys on the verse

(01:17:48):
and hiring Brian Seant Hummer, and one of the reasons
why it is because they run the ball. So being
as though you've seen where the landscape is with Sakuon Barkley,
Derrick Henry, every team is looking like they need a
number one back. How do you feel about the resurgence
of the running game in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:18:05):
That's I mean, think about the old school with the
with the Broncos. Bro, do you feel me like you
had to run the establish the run game right to
open up the past game? You know? So, Uh, it's
never been a dying. It's never been a dying. You know.
They just made it like that because they want to
make it to a pass and league. And I understand that.

(01:18:26):
But these dudes can do it all now. Bro screens pass,
Bro run through the you know what I'm saying, Like
everybody's talented and skill for you know. Uh, it's good.
You know, I can't be that old school and be
like they get too much. Man, go get your red Bro,
Like do what you do your thing, you know, keep

(01:18:47):
keep working out, keep taking care of your body, keep
pounding and and and I'm glad to see that they
giving back money now, you know what I'm saying. So
that's it's awesome for real. Great question, Yeah, super question. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
So so, but you successful in every level that you
played in high school, college, NFL, and now you're transitioning
to another chapter in your life and you're successful there?

Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
Can you tell view as a listeners what you up
to now?

Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
Man? I get that's where I get my little logo
drimping off you feel I don't know if you'll see
what that look like? Yeah? That should carrying the ball?
You feel me? You should do that all the balls
on top of the Yeah, Addy, So you can send

(01:19:43):
me a T shirt or something. I got you. I
got hoodies and all kind of stuff. Yeah, yeah, I
got some. I got some Jay's or something to go
perfect with that. You know, I got all different colors, man,
So yeah, doing that. Man. You know that's another thing
that I ain't talked about much. What happened with play
get out the leave You feel me because my whole

(01:20:04):
mindset was like fuck the league cause then you know
you love the game, but it don't love you back.
You feel me. But you I'm getting better because you
miss out on a bunch of stuff like you know,
benefits and all this other stuff that you that's yours
and you gotta go get it, you know what I'm saying.
And so just having the right people in mind to
help you. But you know, as far as when you
when you get done, a lot of us are like man,

(01:20:25):
clueless of what to do. You know, it's not that
we don't know what. We don't what it's like, we
don't know what we know? Do you feel me like?
We can't just well what you wanna do when you
get done? I don't know, bro, Like, I got to
do this and see if I like it or not.
But we know what it's, what it looked like, and

(01:20:45):
what it takes from start to finish, and how to
do it, and then we'll assess and let you know. Right.
So I went to that whole phase. I did some
financial literacy teaching with Raymond James. Uh I did. I
had a spring company at one point, and I was like, man,
what can I do to give back? So I was like, man, listen,
let's try this truck and joint. So I got box
trucks for right now, second chance opportunities. Folks have been

(01:21:09):
locked up and incarcerated. Yeah, yo, man, yep doing that.
And then on a slide here, man, I got a
phone call. This is gonna if it's get out too bad,
it's it's out. But uh, little I ain't never had

(01:21:30):
no black mayors, you feel me? So I might, I might.
I might try to be a political party here in
little can tell I'm really, I'm really, hey, bus, I
was just about to ask you after Kobe asked a question.
I was just gonna ask you.

Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
I wasn't even talking about the politics. But you was
always good at politics. When it came to when I
would be like, hey, are we gonna work out it
this time today or this time today? You be like, nah,
hold up, old guys, some tricks.

Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
He asked. He's telling us, Yeah, we're gonna work out
in the morning. But y'all don't realize, young Woben Snappers,
he gonna take us out till three in the morning
and then you got me there at six all full.
So you've always been in that. But my question to
you is how is it.

Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
Because I don't I mean, I don't really follow Louisville
that much. Obviously, their games still come on every now
and then. They uh, I can't remember who has been
a big time player that's come out of there since.

Speaker 3 (01:22:35):
They've been pumping running backs out lately. Bro Okay, So
but my point is, how do you feel about the
overall program? And dude, the head coach, bring you guys.
Some of these veterans in like the young man like,
what's the receiver that's doing well on ESPN? He does well?
Like every Douglas that was at Atlanta and obviously got

(01:22:56):
the big deal in Tennessee is doing real well. Roommate, Yeah,
stuff like that. Do that does? Louis will bring you back,
you know to this, you know to the school, and
you know lay out the red car before you like
they should. Man, then we got you gotta have another
forty five minutes. I'm gonna get this, man, damn. The

(01:23:20):
nicest way to say for me, I'm hometown, you feel me. Yeah,
that's why we'll be thinking. It's easy for you because
you are, you home, you got businesses going on me list,
let me get this quick, give this quick story right,
try to make it real quick. Y'all know who Dion
Branch is, right, Yeah, absolutely, yeah, he's he's the player

(01:23:41):
development guy there. You feel me. So I got called
about this opportunity to have this job as a player
development I'm like that I can the older kids. I
can give them my knowledge and dudes and dun'ts in
school and you know, being smart when you got a club,
the whole nothing right, because Louis, it ain't no college time, bro,
This is straight. When you go, when you go party

(01:24:03):
your partnering with the locals, you feel me, you feel
me like love, do an interview with them, the whole nine.
You know what I'm saying. The interview on Friday. Called
me on a Saturday. How you think the interview went?
I said, Bro, don't nobody call you on a Saturday
to ask you how the interview went. Why y'all wasting
my time? Like, what's up?

Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
Ah?

Speaker 3 (01:24:22):
Well, we're gonna go ahead and get a job at Dion?
I said, how long? Dion? Not even from the crib.
So what's the what's the holder? What's the problem? All? Well,
you ain't got your degree? I said, I understand that, right,
But my thing is, if you really wanted me to
get this job, you could have had me as a
grad assistant. Right. It ain't like it ain't like you

(01:24:43):
need the bread. You just wan't go develop and put
your feet on the ground and get going like the
whole nothing. And me and Dion was we cool, were
still cool, we men. We both talked about having that right.
I'm glad they gave it to him. I'm just like, bro,
y'all send me through this whole thing. Knowing I did
not have my degree at the beginning, you feel me
to do that. But with that being said, though I

(01:25:04):
win and got that thing, I got you. You feel me.
So next time they come back and ask for someon,
I'm gonna say, get the funk out of here. I'm
I'm just saying though, but but, but, but the thing
is with little it's certain people that are still here,
that media or the whole nine that I know that

(01:25:25):
we're still here too. So I don't I do not
have a problem with going to the games. Everybody sweets
and ship. You feel me. They show up, they show love, bro,
it's home, you feel me. So I still go talk
to the players when they reach out to me to
go have conversations with them on the back, send me
a list of players' names and who I need to
talk to and all that. So I'm gonna try to
make sure everybody's good. You feel me. So I do

(01:25:46):
do that. So and then on top of that, we
can't forget a battle Teddy Bridge while you know here
a little boy, Yeah yeah, you can't.

Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
And this year as far as go coach high school
and then come back and be uh be ready or
even playing the National Football League.

Speaker 3 (01:26:02):
That was just unprecedent though, and then coming with the
touchdown drive on his first first touch like that. So
but nah man, Yeah, so, I mean it's it's a
Louisville man. It's home. It's just home. But I ain't
no pro sports here. You see what I'm saying. Y'all
are the ProTeam. We are the protein bro. So it's

(01:26:22):
going in the right direction. They gotta they gottah. You know,
everybody loved Brown because he was a player here as
well as far as Jeff you know, the coach. Yeah,
so he's the head coach. Now, Okay, I think he's
been like, we ain't had a losing season since he
been there, you feel, so, yeah, it's working, bro, you know.
So that's what's up. That's what No hate on no

(01:26:44):
hate on the university. Yeah, look, nor should you. Yeah.
I just wish that n I l wasn't around though,
when I.

Speaker 8 (01:26:53):
Don't brook that transport man man man with no problem nowadays, right, Yeah,
no question, no question before but a couple more questions.

Speaker 3 (01:27:08):
But before we get you out of here, what got
you into golf?

Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
You know, I know, I know, but can you tell
our listeners and viewers you know, uh, you know what
got you being a black African American male from Louisville.
Obviously you didnt not want time say that your dad
took you out to the golf course or no, nothing
like that.

Speaker 3 (01:27:26):
What got you in the golf and who was the
first person to take you on the golf course?

Speaker 2 (01:27:30):
Ship?

Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
I grew up in the western little bro that golf
was an expensive sport for us. That's yes, the white
folk play. You know what I'm saying. Who got me
into was Rock? Okay, right, shut out if we're gonna
get you on the show, here to shout out. The
Rock got it Washington. He might have played in Oakland,
but he always gonna be a Washington redskin show. Oh

(01:27:51):
yeah we met. What got me playing it though, was
I did team sports my whole life. So golfers that
own individual sport where if you right, you gotta learn
how to through shots, you gotta learn how to commiss nerves.
Now you gotta learn how to figure issues on the fly.
And so that's what got me hooked. Bro, that's I'm

(01:28:12):
going I'm gonna Spain two times this year. So daughter
took me following in football.

Speaker 1 (01:28:19):
Bro, Look so for me but I wantn't know because
because you know, you was talking about your basketball game
and how nice you was a basketball Oh you and
you were so good that you could have played both
both sports at big time at a big time college level.

Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
Who would who would you describe your game?

Speaker 3 (01:28:42):
Like? Who? Who?

Speaker 2 (01:28:43):
Who's most comparable? Man?

Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
I got I got the I'm lefty, you feel me?
So I think all left he's gonna shoot. That's my opinion.
All left should better shoot. You know what I'm saying?
Uh yeah, my jumper look like Derrick Fisher's ass for
him is a little bit okay, yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 8 (01:29:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
I don't know. Have you ever heard of her name?
Calber Cheney? You know, so that's what they used to
call me, the natural they call men. Look man knock
it all man knocking. I was. I was a Nike
shoe test at one point, bro, I would say, no more,

(01:29:26):

other worm center back in They seem more more, parents don't,
but no, man, I man, I played it. I got
another one for you. The hold on in Vegas? Right,
were out in the club? Right? I see Jared Jack
he played in the league.

Speaker 2 (01:29:45):
From Yeah, he from the Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:29:48):
Josh Smith, all them cats I would bump into out
they like big bus. Bro, what you're doing playing football? Bro?
You're playing the wrong sport. Hey. Look my cousin Kofbey
as a monster right there. Now, don't get it. It
was all American all everything too. But ain't. It's a
lot of us out here, bro. We just we just

(01:30:11):
missed that Internet time, you feel me?

Speaker 4 (01:30:16):
Know, we fuck the Internet. I don't care about it.
We missed that transport portal. I don't care about the Internet.
I don't need the Internet.

Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
There's a flex on somebody who thinks they did. Prime example.
I'm gonna go to my brother in law being right,
he would come in, He would come home and show
this like all tournament team ship. You know what I'm saying.
I said, Hey, bro, flip that motherfucker back about six pages?
What year is that? Who name is that? Right there?
You feel me like, come on, man, you ain't the
only one?

Speaker 2 (01:30:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:30:48):
I used to too. Yeah. Hey, speaking of basketball, this
is a story. Can you please share now? Kobe and
Mona love this.

Speaker 4 (01:30:58):
Can you please share about how you used to play
basketball with a Hall of famer out here?

Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
But not Sizzle? Quarterback. Look and how and how when
he lost hell the storyboat he would try to kick
everybody out listening to this money bow, Hey, he would
he would draw the file like I mean, he would

(01:31:28):
running to you like a bat out of hell. Bro
And and the file was always on you because we
had his crib. Don't let him. He would throw the
ball and sell. He would get mad and then that
he wouldn't lose. Y'all gotta go, yeah, y'all, y'all gotta
kick everybody out. After after the kick everybody, he got

(01:31:50):
the basketball quarter he got the whole basketball court in
his crib. And then he kicked Bush coming the next
day says bro Man man Man Kirk on trip. We
messing around upside and we beat him to a level.
He said, Man, you know, just the first game he
throw everybody out. And I'll tell you what though, Hey,

(01:32:11):
that dude, I know you're older now he had that
You know that that that gun that they got. Now
everybody got what gun? You know, like when you shooting
and they shoot the ball back to you. Yeah, man,
he put up he was putting up five. He probably
still do it five hundred shots. So and he run
all day. He played all the time. I played Nate Brotherson.

(01:32:34):
That's how I met Nate. Nate in hooping with us.
A couple of couple of people come through that playing
Bro this small little gym, and but Kurty gonna let.

Speaker 2 (01:32:41):
You know what he is.

Speaker 3 (01:32:42):

you know that. And you better not win or you
or you gotta go, you gotta go.

I'm saying, quick question. Bro. All right, So we're gonna

(01:38:49):
but give you the tackle. Uh. I told we traded
for him Big Seymour Richard I I gonta said you
better say yeah, Big s Moore. I knew Sap was there,
but he was kind of on the back end.

Speaker 7 (01:39:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:39:06):
Uh, whole ship, dude. And when I played in Chicago
with uh Lance Briggs. Lance Briggs was a beast Okay,
Uh sleeper man. Sleeper bro should be in the Hall
of Fame. If he ain't, he ain't, but he should be.
You ain't playing with I play with her like yeah, yeah,

(01:39:31):
this should happened because the Briggs doing this job. That's
what I'm saying. I ain't. I mean, I'm just saying
I didn't. Got I got, I got like good say
no more good, old man, it's old brother, you know
how uh who else I said? I thought d making
that he was. He was a hell of an athlete too.

(01:39:54):
We had so many We had Ronald Carry Bro, we
had I mean, it was just tons of different folks. Bro.
You know, yeah, I never had no big time receiver
though I don't remember having a big time receiver whatever.
Brandon Marshall was there. But you didn't play with Larry
Fris Jam I didn't. I don't call it. I don't

(01:40:16):
call myself playing because you wasn't. Yeh, yeah, I got
you know what I'm saying, gotcha? So okay, Janakowski he
was a hell of a kicker. Hey, he didn't get
drafted in the first round yeap number two. I think.

Speaker 4 (01:40:38):
So I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Kobe's question that
he asked, all I get you got a bench. You
gotta start bench and cut these three, these three players
because you're a basketball.

Speaker 3 (01:40:53):
Guy, h.

Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
Hater baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:41:04):
You call them what you want, but you got bit too.
And look book, out of these three players, you gotta
start bench cut all right, Michael, Jordan, Kobe, Lebron. Who
you starting? Who you benching? And who you cut? I'm

(01:41:28):
always starting m j uh. I see it's tough because
Kobe and Jordan the same person. Bro, But I'm gonna
still I'm I'm cutting Lebron. Bro.

Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
Damn, that's two days in the room chipping off the bench.

Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
Look, and you ain't gota say hey, look. You ain't say.

Speaker 2 (01:41:52):
He look hey, look.

Speaker 1 (01:41:53):
You you know how sometimes stuff lingers and sting and
the stays with you. So that thirty two in the
second hand when you heard the coup, Man, I you
I ain't.

Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
I ain't. I ain't need to tell you. I was
throwing the ball out of bounds. They was pressing right.
I tried to throw it in the middle. I'm not
throwing it in Then then he stole it. Don't tell
me you jumped. He came down the lane. I did
one of them. I'm like, oh no, I was smart.

(01:42:30):
I was not jump. The only reason why I say
Lebron is because to me, he still doesn't have that
man our time one of the greatest. I ain't gonna
take that everybody, no question, no question. But when it
comes to that last shot, Bro, you don't know he
gonna shoot a one legged runner of what he gonna

(01:42:52):
do to win the game? Right? That's me got you
say no more?

Speaker 2 (01:42:59):
Did you play against him in football too? I'm just
curious about that.

Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
No, No, they I know they said he was. He
could have been through with that too. So you gotta relax.
So relax, I said, they said, I don't. Yeah, I know.
That's what I'm saying. I'm not saying you gotta relax.
I'm saying I'm saying you got relaxed. Hey, bus going

(01:43:22):
into it and going into you know what I'm saying
going into Can we get your predictions real quick on
who you like? Washington and Eagles and uh Kansas City
and uh Buffalo. I legit won't Washington win though the
whole thing. Nah, I don't know about the whole thing

(01:43:44):
about they wanted to be the Eagles. Okay, because this
young this this young quarterback, y'all got Bro, he nice
with it? Bro, He's not really nice. He was not nice. Okay,
who you like in the ABC that my home is probably, Bro,
I don't they just pull that shit out? They asked, Man,

(01:44:05):
you got pause on that one. But yeah, say don't know. Yah, Yeah,
come on, I relax, Bro, I'm saying, you gotta they
gotta be the deep thrown at some point for sure.
I don't know Buffalo can do it. Maybe if the
Ravens had made it, they probably have been able to
do it. But I don't think that they can. But yeah,

(01:44:25):
it's yeah, so we obviously you getting really tired you. Yeah,
