go right before me talking about a Yo, bro, my
restart all?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
You mean you both used.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Out before I met you? You did not saying that
knock it all crazy? You said you used to be
like you should be like you should say.
Speaker 7 (01:15):
I used to say, you know what before I met you,
that's what me and you clicked off doing it.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
You know we did not. I've been doing that ship
know I ain't well that. No, we did not.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
We started off season five with fire right away. No,
we did not. That ain't why we did all because
you were good, absolutely not, absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
We started that back.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
In because you think I said, and you're.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
With, No, that's not that's not. That's not what I'm saying, coach.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
What I'm saying is I never heard you say that
before I met you, right, and then when I met you,
you didn't say that in the beginning.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
You never used to say that.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
I started saying that in nineteen I think two thousand
and four with an twine, but THEA and foots Okay,
that's why.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
That's what I used to say on the on the
base in two thousand.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
What are you talking about, soul? You say so, you say.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Hey, yo, I say eight year, I don't say I say.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
Hey, this is crazy. Hey, look though, Fellers, congratulations, man,
this is the this this is the fifth year anniversary. Man,
the first show of the fifth season. Man, salute to
the note Castport Show podcast. You know, we've been around
(02:48):
for a while. Man, We've been steadily grewing. We had
a lot of changes over the years, but one thing
is being consistent. I think we've been putting off great
content and giving the people what they want, awesome guests
and all of that good stuff.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
So what I want to do is start off with
more money.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Because you original brother, you your.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
Original host, you know, Castparts, your podcast.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
You been since day one, when when this thing was
when everybody trying to figure it out.
Speaker 8 (03:20):
That's real.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
I mean, so, so from.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
Your perspective, you know, what, what have you enjoyed most
about the podcast and what type of changes have you
seen over the years in our five seasons.
Speaker 9 (03:34):
Well, just like you said, coach Man, this was just
a dream something that you know, we talked about it
shit at my grandma house really and then we just
manifested it into this. Things that I enjoy the most
is this is like mental therapy. So you get on here,
you talk, you chop it up with brothers and then
you give your opinion about sports and you know, conversations
(03:56):
in general. The changes that have been made, of course
the hosts, I think as the show going on, no
shot to anybody who started, but the host that it
became more even more professional as we you know, kind.
Speaker 8 (04:08):
Of went through it.
Speaker 9 (04:10):
Also, I think the content that was out there when
we first started it was it was crazy because when
we first first started, you gotta think that was when
Kyrie was in Brooklyn.
Speaker 8 (04:22):
There.
Speaker 9 (04:22):
It just formed all of that and so we had
a lot of debates on those things and the content
has definitely changed now, especially with subject matter experts like yourself,
you know, old doll coach being able to y'all were
in locker room, so you can give us a different
perspective of our things.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
Yeah, yeah, and I definitely so.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
I think I started on the show in season three,
I believe, and and it kind of it was crazy
how how it kind of worked out, because you know,
it started out for me as being a guest on
the show.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
At the time.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
Fredo was, you know, was the five start general running
running the running the show, and he knew of my
plans of starting starting a podcast, and then he just
hit me up to say, bro, won't you get with
the team? Man, We'll love to have you and ship.
It was just like a perfect fit to a puzzle,
(05:19):
you know what I'm saying, And just just being able
to vibe with you fellas every week and shit, not
just every week every day because we you know, we
on the group chat everything, so this not just the
once once a week think for us, man, we were
in constant communication, you know what I'm saying, talks and
ship to each other.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Man.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
So I think we definitely.
Speaker 5 (05:41):
Built that built that that team, that team built the
atmosphere between all of us, and I just think everybody
fit so well together. Everybody have their own personalities, you
know what I mean. And then I brought this crazy
motherfucker right.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Here, and.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
You know he uh, you know, he put a little
salt and pepper on it, you know what I mean,
brought his own brought his own personality and style to
to the show and definitely gave us a left. And
then and then, Coach Milton, you know lasting that leads.
You know, you came man man and has been a cornerstone,
(06:21):
you know, being consistent, come with great content, great point
of views.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
You know what I mean. You started to a.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yo, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
So so, man, look.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
I ain't never heard that motherfucker I met Coach Milton.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Coach Milton, Man, give me my flowers, Man, give me
my flowers?
Speaker 3 (06:47):
He can I can?
Speaker 6 (06:48):
I say?
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Can I say that?
Speaker 8 (06:49):
Man?
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Let's get the man ahead.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Let me know you was about oh ah and for real.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
So me and old do a lot of a lot
of shit together, and we spend a lot of time together.
And the one thing about oh man, I used to
tell him all the time, like, bru, you need your
own you need your own show. Like the knowledge he
be spitting to all our to all our athletes. Man,
the way he interact with people, and so when he
when he shared with me that he was.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Going to be a party, I said, Man, that's perfect
for you.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
And so then I became a fan following the show
because I was following old and then I met I
had met Uk through you know, through a couple of
family events. But just oh, being on the show me
on his personality, not knowing too much about the group,
and then watching with Fredo had you guys together, man,
So seeing the changes the one thing that I like,
(07:42):
I said, Oh, ain't gonna say a lot about itself,
but his personality man, and the way that he deals
with stuff, and his inside understanding of the sports and
just how he deals with people. Perfect for the show man.
And I love to see him when he gets on here.
He brings the energy and people don't know that's him
all the time, man. And so for me it's a blessing.
Been on here like most here from the beginning. This
(08:04):
is therapy for me, man, because he knows when me
and him were together, Man, it was times when me
and him just needed he would know and I needed
to just vent. I knew when he needed a vent.
So just being able to be on here with him
not being here no more. You know this this is
my This is my way to stay connected. So I
appreciate you guys even have me on the show and
(08:25):
did not even to speak to everybody. Knows what y'all
done for my daughter, bro, Like that's lifetime for me, fellas.
So I appreciate y'all and I appreciate the opportunity to
be on here.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Salute absolutely, amen, brother Sute.
Speaker 10 (08:39):
Hey, bro, I think we should take that shit over.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Man.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
You you go first, You do it next week. I
got to do it the week got Look, man, let's
let's get right into the show.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Man.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
We gotta h We got a superstar in the building,
not a stranger to the show. Oh man, Look, I'm
not going I'm not going talking to death. I'm just
gonna bring it on.
Speaker 6 (09:16):
Man. We got tennis legend Jerry Ingram in the building.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Up, what's up?
Speaker 11 (09:25):
Showing off because you got a palm tree in the back.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
I don't care. I don't care if it was a
I don't care if it was a lighthole. I'm gonna
do me regardless. Same the same little yaller that was
running around as a freshman following, look, following and chasing
your young Some people call it showing off. Some people
call it showing off. Some people people call it man. Hey, look,
this is what it is with me, right you used
(09:52):
to it. I ain't showing off, ship, I'm talking, I'm here.
This is I'm with you.
Speaker 11 (09:58):
That's your star pound. That's all.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
There ain't no but some apple juice.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Yeah, shout out apple juice.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Ye, shout out. Shout out throughout. Shout out to that basil.
Hey there we go, looking real good on you class.
Speaker 11 (10:23):
From the US Open.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
We got a lot of we got a lot of questions. Man,
we need to find out. Man, my first question, I
don't know if I could leave it off cold?
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Can I can? I ask?
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Because my my my question is, man, what we're gonna
do with man for your old man? What we're gonna
do with.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Everywhere?
Speaker 4 (10:46):
I man, what we what we're gonna do?
Speaker 2 (10:51):
What we're gonna do?
Speaker 6 (10:53):
Hey, didn't he just drop.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Like fifteen spots?
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Listen? I knew I knew.
Speaker 11 (10:59):
I knew that where we were starting.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
And he got to start with that.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
He changed go ahead, yep, I was gonna actually he
changed sponsors. Right, He's not with Nike anymore because I
didn't see him wear Nike shoes. He was wearing like
a Lows or something like that with Lululemon. That but
that happened. That happened before the French Open. Okay, sometimes
(11:26):
that happens with Nike.
Speaker 11 (11:29):
After a while because everybody wants to be with Nike
at some point and that money spread in. So I was,
I think whatever he's doing with his branding and his sponsorship,
he's maximizing that part.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 11 (11:45):
Still he's still the number two Black American. I mean
he's he just dropped. He just dropped to He was
though twelve before the tournament starts, so it was in
the top twenty. He's still enough still be. So sometimes
it is if it's not him, then who And you know, right, But.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Let me ask you a question, Joey, you said he's
the number two Black Americans, So would that be Shelton
be the number one Black American?
Speaker 11 (12:20):
And he got hurt. He lost in the third. He
fell and fell on his shoulder. So it was like
in the match he wouldn't he didn't go in hurt. Yeah,
and his father he wanted to keep playing, but his
father father cut it so, but but there definitely needs
to be another strong force on his team that makes
(12:47):
the decisions for Francis to get him in a space
where he's not making some of the decisions that he's making.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Yes, man, that's all. That's all I needed to hear.
I'm cool. I have no whole question. I'm quiet.
Speaker 6 (13:03):
So I have a question.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
So with Francis, ti'afo like for me in your opinion, dude,
do you think he's locked in enough? Because I see
Francis on the TV, on the internet. He everywhere, he outside,
you know what I mean, And to me, just from
the outside of looking in, I'm like, I don't think
he's locked in like he should be. Like outside, he
(13:27):
moving around with different celebrities, you know, living his life,
having a great time. But at some point, you know
what I mean, you need to kind of hide from
the limelight and get in the lab, make sure you're
perfecting your game, and make sure you mentally prepared to
go into these big tournaments and finally get over the hump.
Speaker 11 (13:49):
I think you don't have to lock in. Differently, I
think he's gonna have to intentionally lock in. I think
some of that stuff he has to do. But there's
a lot of stuff that people are putting on him
that he does not have to do, or he needs
to say no and take a fine, like he's gonna
have to reshape or redesign what's going on. And now
(14:10):
really is the time to do it. Yeah, twenty six
or twenty seven or he's about to be twenty seven.
He needs to do it. He needs to do it
right now. And I think it's an ad. I don't
necessarily know if anybody on his team from what I've
seen from his team is a is a part. It's
(14:30):
like is influencing him. I just don't think. I think
he needs somebody strong in the team that he can't
say no to and they just need to sit down
somewhere until until the person who's leading says, okay, now
it's play time. We get you know, for the balance.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
But well, he needed he needed a big sense.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
He needs Jerry and because because and it's not just
in in tennis, it's with all sports, right money Moowe,
with everything, Cod and coach Milton. You gotta have somebody
on your team to be like, nah, now we're not
going out tonight.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Now we're not We're not doing that event, let's.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Go get some extra serves up, or let's go get
some more other stuff up. Because of the simple fact
is we have to understand the reason why Lululemon is
sponsoring us is because we are we are winning, and
we showed that we are moving in that right direction.
If we losing in the third round and we losing
the people that we're not supposed to lose to, then
eventually if we're gonna go from Lululemon to something else,
(15:35):
and then it's gonna be Ah, we want to get
like what what We gotta keep the main thing, the
main thing. Yeah, and it seems like he doing, Yeah,
he winning and.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
He he is number two or whatever.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
But the one thing that we said on here is
that you just said and then quote me if I'm wrong,
Coach Milton just asked you you said he was the
number two African American, Right, But nah, all that I
want to be I want want to be up and
y'all laughing because you'll know what.
Speaker 6 (16:08):
I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
I want to be I want to be with everybody.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Germans Italians lever needs everybody, right, So why so, so
who is on his team that you think or what
if you was to give him some advice shortened to
the point, what is something that you would tell him say, hey, y'all, listen,
Like you said, you would say a positive person that
you want to add.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
But what is something that you sat him down and said, look,
before we go.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
On this next tournament next year, this is what I
want you to focus on. What is something that you
would tell.
Speaker 11 (16:45):
Well, he needs an h m F I S that's
what he needs more. He needs that. He needs that
and he needs to do whatever that person says. But
he needs he needs to be strategic. Okay, so at
this point you gotta go outside because all the brand
(17:05):
and everything that goes along with that. But it needs
to be a time limit on it. It needs to
be strategic, It needs to be elevated. It don't need
to be it don't need to be need to be
park because he in park. It don't need to be parked.
It don't need it, don't need to be none of that,
none of that. If it's he only should go outside
to get money, and that's it. And that's a lot
(17:26):
right now based on how everybody's moving and all the
stuff they have to do. Yeah, and then you need
to do that for a whole year and then re
evaluating hopefully he'll like it.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
Yeah and jar yeah as a question because it's something
me and Oh talked about last week and he's talking tennis,
and he asked a question like, why aren't there more
like premier players or why why aren't there any black
(17:59):
coaches present or being a part of these premier players' camps,
you know, because we don't just don't see them unless
it's unless it's like a parent.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
Of one of the players.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
Because you see Blake Shelton's dad, I think he coached them,
and then of course mister Williams.
Speaker 6 (18:15):
But overall, you really don't see black coaching.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
I mean, I'm looking at attendance in front of me
that I mean, you should be in somebody's careful at
least somebody should reached out to you, you know.
Speaker 11 (18:28):
So I have been, they have And that's on a
personal note. My daughter got one more year at Blake
at high school. And so personally I am a USA
team USA coach and it's called a faculty coach, and
what that is That means I coach on US soil.
(18:48):
So I will travel to places in the US and
do stuff. But to get on somebody's team. You gotta
be willing to be on the road like a pro.
So that's thirty to forty weeks a year.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Or me.
Speaker 11 (19:00):
That's my answer. Now, I do think a lot of
black coaches have to catch up. There's some and there's
there's been some push for it, but I can't answer
the overall questions. But they need to catch They need
to catch up, and that's only because they didn't have
the like we have these black players coming through, but
(19:21):
they didn't have the opportunities to get the information, or
they weren't put in places or didn't have the financial
resources to do the training and the years to you know,
make it to learn everything that had to be learned
to be able to coach somebody like that. So you
don't want him to have a bad coach because he's black.
(19:43):
So even the people I'm thinking about to lead the
team for him, there's only one black person that I
could think of, and I don't even know if he
would do it.
Speaker 8 (19:56):
It's only.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
I know another one I'm looking that.
Speaker 11 (20:01):
I say that and me coming out for a couple
of weeks, and so we might talk again.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
In the just I just.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
Don't understand you know, we we talk about it all
the time with different people and coaches and stuff. If
somebody got the answers and they done and they have
done it and they got a good genuine soul and
they want to see you. When why I just don't
understand why these kids don't? You know, they so many.
Speaker 11 (20:32):
You know, it's not hard, but people make it hard.
It's not hard to do the deal go and the
deals get done with anybody, So that's not it's not hard,
but noted. And because we had this whole conversation about it,
I'm gonna I'm gonna have a real conversation about it
(20:53):
and see see where he is.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
No mm hmmm, who the heat?
Speaker 11 (21:01):
No, I'm having a real conversation. Who's the he who
I would think that would go? Why do you ask
me that.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
This is no catch no podcast?
Speaker 11 (21:11):
Well, no, I don't think he would go. But I mean,
there's a coach who coach Sloan come on Murray m hm.
But I don't know if he I don't know if
he would go because he doesn't do men. I mean
I haven't seen him coach men. I've seen him women. Okay,
(21:34):
so and I've never talked to him about it. That's
just the only one that I know who will live
that lifestyle.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
So what about So I just recently I saw you
in the photo with this gentleman. I know this gentleman
since since junior tennis Mala Washington.
Speaker 11 (21:49):
Okay, yeah, so let's talk about some other stuff about
the open because of Francis yay, But he's just one person.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
So I have a question we transition to the win.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
I think the women, the black women of course, showed
beautifully with Venus Coco, Osaka and Taylor. Can you can
you talk to explain to Osaka Cocoa Golf and miss
Williams and and Taylor Taylor? Okay, So I want to
(22:22):
know as someone who I've watched tennis for a couple
of years, me and my wife sitting and watch religiously.
We were just watching something on TV that's happening now,
but I'm not familiar with all the nuances of the
game and some of the rules and regulations. Can you
explain to just a casual someone who's really getting into
the sport, what what was what was the issue with
(22:46):
Taylor and the young lady that she I know, the outlier,
but what what are some of the things that because
I know she made a comment like there's a lot
of smoking mirrors in tennis. Can you explain what that
means to just someone who's just getting started with the game.
Because I always thought of tennis as the gentlemen and woman,
you know, generally sport. But you see that there's always
(23:07):
something happening, you know, when these when you get some
of these you know.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
High.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Competitions or rivalries that you see over and over again.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Because these these what I what I have learned is
these athletes play a lot of tennis. It's not just
what we see. They're playing back to back, day day
after day. So can you can you explain some of
that to us?
Speaker 11 (23:29):
So what what she was saying when she said smoking mirrors?
And I was actually at that match when when when
she was saying smoking mirrors. If you know the rules
of the game, which everyone does by that point, you
can manipulate them, right. So Taylor, the first set was closed,
(23:52):
the second set wasn't closed. She took a bat, she
took a change of clothes, break, which was fine, you
can do it. That's a whole go into the locker room,
the court. They were on the locker room was like
a seven minute walk right, and you get you done,
somebody goes with you, nobody from your team, and then
you go and you get three minutes and then you
(24:13):
got walked back. So that was like a fifteen minute break.
Then she did an injury time out. She said she
needed to get her blood pressure checked, right, So I
mean maybe she does, maybe she doesn't. Look we don't
even know when our blood pressure is how walking around
on the daily base, so she stays blood got So
(24:35):
there was that. Then she was like doing a lot
of questioning of calls and changing balls, all things that
are legal actually, but it just all she was trying
to throw off Taylor's rhythm. Maybe Taylor started thinking too
much out on the court too long, whatever the case
may be. Osta Pinko was ranked twenty four, Taylor was
(25:00):
like one forty in singles going in there, so anything
could have went in Taylor's head at that moment. She
might not have believed she was doing with anything. You know,
she could have been in the zone. She was just
trying to get her out of the zone basically. And
then I was watching the match, I saw all of that,
(25:20):
but I also know it's all legal. Unlike some other
things that I've seen that people have done with major
stars have done that are illegal and they let us fine,
But what she was doing was legal, okay. And they
shook hands and I'm actually getting my stuff to go
to another match, and all of a sudden I had
(25:41):
to turn around. I'm like, what's going on? Because Taylor
all the stuff she said, Taylor was doing Taylor and
doing nothing. Now, let me tell you what you couldn't see.
Every black person on the US Open grounds was at
that match, and everybody was there. Anybody that they thought
(26:01):
they needed to help get through by making the home
court advantage, they were there, and there were the Divine
nine was in the house and she's not greet. They
were in the house and they were doing all the
dogs AKA. Everybody was doing that, and Pinga was losing
her mind and Eyla wasn't doing nothing. But it's changeover,
(26:24):
which is which is free reign. They were making all
their noises and they were also singing Alicia Keys, this
girl is on fire, okay, because she had fire on
her skirt. That's her, that's her line. And she could
not handle the crowd. The crowd. The crowd was killing her.
Mentally and then she took it out on tailor. So
(26:47):
that's what happened with that. Now that's kind of extreme,
but it was nothing about it was illegal, yep.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
And just and just to kind of kind of be
clear on that.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
So one of the things that was said in a
kind of go back to when you were talking about
doing anything to get into the head of Taylor. I
remember when they showed the Venus Williams Special. That was
one of the ways that when Venus was a Venus.
Speaker 11 (27:10):
Or Serena, uh, happens to all of us.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
So when they first when she had the first major run,
the one that they did the movie on where she
did the run.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
And they iced her out, they left it out there.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
When did they make the switch to the coaches being
out in the boxes, because that's there hasn't always been
the case, right, The coaches haven't always been sitting in
the boxes that they're sitting in now.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
It used to be the players will be out there
by themselves.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
That is that?
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Am I wrong for saying.
Speaker 11 (27:36):
The player boxes outside the court?
Speaker 6 (27:39):
No?
Speaker 3 (27:39):
No, no, like the yes, yes, ma'am.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Where the coaches sit where they where they're sitting in
earshot of the players. Has that always been the case
or is that something that's been always there.
Speaker 11 (27:48):
It's just that some tournaments don't have boxes, got you.
So it depends on the stadium. Got Technically they're an earshot,
but with the crowd and everything, they can't really if
they know what those people are saying, they give me signals, Gotcha,
they can't really hear him. I mean, I guess you can't. Really,
you can't really. If you can hear him, that means
(28:10):
I'm picking here, which means you're gonna get a penalty.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Understood. Okay, cool, Yeah, thank you?
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Mm hmm okay, good.
Speaker 6 (28:21):
What you think about the US Open overall?
Speaker 5 (28:23):
Like before we get into the actual matches, agree with
the atmosphere, Like if you can kind of just walk
us through that experience.
Speaker 11 (28:31):
Y'all need to come set up shop and do a
show from the USO for real. But this year they
did the seventy fifth anniversary of ALTHEA. Gibson winning it,
so she was everywhere on every changeover. They were spiraling
her for three weeks. They had all these exhibits, They
(28:53):
had all these exhibits with her and all her historical content.
That first opening day they brought back. What you saw
with Malvilla was that they sent invitations out to former
black professional tennis players and they and hosted you for
(29:14):
the for the opening day, and so everybody who came
kind of went to an event and then washed in
a suite together. So then a lot of us were together.
So they made a concerted effort to honor her, so
that vibe was good. They brought in this mixed doubles
tournament where the mixed doubles wasn't during the tournament, it
(29:35):
was the week before, and I don't know if you
saw those matchups, but every sixteen teams got to match
up together. So Madison played with Francis Osaka played with
Mom Feast. I don't think Coco play Coco didn't play Paulini,
(29:57):
Jasmin played. I forget who she played with. So that
was fun. It made it crowded. The vibe, the vibe
is always on fire.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
So didn't Tailor play with Shelton. Oh, I think Taylor
played with Shelton or with Shelton, Yeah, because they were
having a ball out there.
Speaker 11 (30:18):
Yeah, they together. Ben is actually Ben is just like
he just likes he just likes to laugh. He's he's
he's always having a ball. He's always having a ball.
So and what else the men, the women, you know,
there's always a lot of black is the larger number
(30:38):
of Black American women playing. So we had we had
the We had to endure Osaka and Cocoa playing each other,
which which from a tennis from a standpoint of like, oh,
I'm mad, that's the I'm not from the standpoint I'm
mad they had to play each other. But if somebody
(31:00):
was gonna beat Coco, and since they had to play,
it was good that Osaka beat her. She wasn't in
a good place. She had just got a new coach.
She had said it leading up to it, which I
kept saying to myself. She keeps giving herself out. I
have a new coach. My mental health it's not well.
It's kind of like she was telling us. So I said, well,
(31:23):
if she's gonna play Osaka, let o Socca get those
points now. And exactly what happened happened because Osaka went
into the tournament forty nine, which means she could be
any of them early. But now she's fourteen, so she'll
be seated properly. So it'll be it will take a
(31:44):
lot for them to line them up to meet each
other again. So even though we didn't want to see
it heard and somebody else, is it just.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Me or did Osaka just looked she looked happy, like
she just looked that peace playing this entire tournament.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Like usually I don't see her smile.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
She's usually I think her and co Quarta two ladies
that I say, they they're in their heads a lot.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
But Osaki just looked like she was at peace.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
She didn't really nothing bothered her, and even I think
she had when she when she was playing the match
after she played Coco, I think at one point she
stopped listening to her corner, but you could see she
was still smiling to herself, talking to herself. So is
that something that's new for her, because I know she's
gone through a lot.
Speaker 11 (32:33):
Well, she said that she was gonna she was trying
to smile and on her matches, that's one of the
things you noticed it. She said she's trying to smile.
But I'm just gonna say, I don't know if everyone
on here has children, but I think her child is
over two years old now, and I think it's like
she's put up in her body. She's probably sleeping like
(32:54):
it doesn't matter, Like even though we keep going, there's
certain things that are certain things. And I'm not saying
that's it. She hasn't said it, but just looking at
like she has a great Ohsaka has a great team
on and off the court, and she tweaks her team.
But I just saw her body kind of looked a
little different just from having a child point of view.
(33:19):
And even though I mean we heard Serena say that
she was having trouble getting the weight off, and you know,
your body just has to go through that whole process.
So I feel like she might just even just feel
a little better and a little different and she might
be getting a whole full, nice leap for more than
you know, four or five six months now. And then
(33:41):
she really likes her team now. So she just said
she's in a happy and better place. She didn't really
elaborate on it. But the main thing I learned from
Osaka when you talk about like branding and what I'm
not gonna say, I learned that I watched her work.
(34:02):
She worked at Lulu Boo Boo thing like nobody she
had that lady working overnight. I took that lady thirteen
hours to make them things every two days. And she
walked out of that tournament with one hundred million. The
other deal for ten years for the Lulu Boo boos.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
Wow get The day after she lost, I moved to
her because she definitely.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Was pushing them.
Speaker 11 (34:30):
To your point, Oh the hell with Lululemon, we want
the boo boo LULUs whatever.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (34:38):
So she, I mean, she's got a marketing team, she's
got she she really works on her team, and she
I feel like she works on herself and we may
not always like it, but and she's the thing is
she just says it out loud, which freeze her up
of it.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
She just says, you know what, I'm off, I'm taking
a break, I'm working hard.
Speaker 11 (34:59):
It didn't worry out. I'm injured, I'm sad, I'm happy,
you know. She just says it. I'm Japanese, I'm Haitian,
I'm American, whatever I want to be. I'm just jug y'all,
y'all deal with it.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
So and then she smiles so so.
Speaker 11 (35:15):
So and then it was really crowded this year. So
I think the numbers are up at the US Open.
It's the they have. They have kind of sustained. They
have kind of determined that they pay the most. They
pay the most prize money of all the Grand Slams.
They're pretty much the leading Grand Slam. The players love
it the most. Every Grand Slam has its thing, you know.
(35:38):
The US likes to be the be the one that
has the most, so they have the most and the
parents and they went up twenty percent on their prize
money for every single round.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
So the players are loving it. So they're doing a
lot of appearances, which I think as a result of
getting paid more. So you see them around the grounds
doing a lot of stuff.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
So it's deep.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (36:08):
And Taylor, they came in the finals of doubles, so
that's another thing. You know, she got to the third
round of singles. It's hard to play singles and doubles
in the Grand Saying that means you're playing every day
and your opponents are playing every other day, so your
rest of recovery is taking a hit. But she got
(36:31):
further than she normally gets in singles, and she got
to the finals, and she got to the finals of doubles, so.
Speaker 5 (36:38):
M yeah, And you know, back to Osaka, like what
you said, she looked really fit. She was moving around
the court well. She was hitting the ball really well.
I think she doesn't play as aggressives that we as
we saw her before. She kind of took a break
because I think she used to go for more shots.
Speaker 6 (36:59):
Now the like she.
Speaker 5 (37:02):
Chooses consistency over over the aggressive style of play. But
at the same time, she's still striking the ball really well.
She played a great tournament, and I predict in the
next season she's gonna win one of those Grand Slams.
I just I just see her ascending to back to
that level that she was at.
Speaker 11 (37:22):
No, I think she's playing more strategic. I think the
some of the players are a little different and the
game has changed a little bit since two or three
years ago. So I think I think she's playing it right.
Speaker 6 (37:40):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (37:40):
But I also think if she gets more she gets
more confidence and she's inside the baseline, she will go forward.
But I was watching her, was I was at almost
every match she played. She is trying to trying to
make sure she gets inside the court before she hits
a big shot. But her points aren't really lasting more
(38:01):
than four shots. She may have a few long points,
but she's inting those points pretty quickly.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
Okay, so the champion, cyber Linka, can anybody beat her?
I mean, she's playing, She's playing out of her mind
right now. She's she looks kind of unstoppable. Do you
who who do you see that's the closest to her
that you think maybe can can knock her off of
her throne.
Speaker 11 (38:32):
I don't see nobody. I watched her too. She is.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Different.
Speaker 11 (38:40):
You know what, I'm gonna answer you a question in
two parts. The person I see closest to her Serena,
But Serena at this point, I don't see her knocking
around her throne. But the only person that I saw
that that was different like her in a certain stage
of Serena's career is those two they kind of the same.
(39:04):
I don't know if Sablinka can string together the mount
of Grand slams that Serena did, because Serena started much
younger getting these wins. But I mean, she covers the
whole court. It's like she's everywhere, and she's she's got
the size, she's got the strength, has some weaknesses, but
(39:27):
you have to be able to penetrate them and match.
Speaker 6 (39:32):
Mm hmmm.
Speaker 5 (39:35):
What did you see from the from the men's side
of course, colors, al the rest when the tournament knocking
off center those two Now, speaking of Cybulkia, it doesn't
seem it seemed like those two will be in the
finals every single tournament they playing. I don't I see
those two and then there's nobody like third and beyond.
Speaker 6 (39:57):
It's not close to those two. Well, what's your thoughts
in that.
Speaker 11 (40:00):
Center and the men's He doesn't look as strong as Alcarez,
like you know when you watch him, but he he
I mean, his ball moves quick, fast and it's accurate,
so he's tough to be I was I wasn't sure
how Novak would beat him. I really want to know,
(40:24):
back to get one more, but I don't know. I
was like, if he don't get in now, he don't
get in Australia. I don't know if these young bodies
he's up against, I don't. I don't know. He thinks again,
so that's important, but just center, center and Alcarez, I
(40:45):
see them in the finals of everything.
Speaker 6 (40:47):
Yeah, wow, Prince look better.
Speaker 11 (40:52):
He looks better, But then when you get him inside
those players that are like six and above, it's kind
of like he doesn't change his game to beat the
player that he's up again. He just plays his game
and he just tries to make it work. I don't
(41:14):
know if he can change it up. Well, no, I
know he can, but will he? It looks like he's like,
I'm gonna play like this and it's gonna win, and
if it doesn't, I'm gonna go.
Speaker 5 (41:28):
I'm gonna leave like his coach Mike Russell used to
do when I whooked him. His coach Mike Michael Russell him, No,
I used to play against him. We played, We played
at the same time, him and him and his brother.
Speaker 11 (41:47):
Ah, wait, what did he used to do?
Speaker 5 (41:51):
Nah?
Speaker 6 (41:52):
Say he didn't change his game up. I used to
whoop him.
Speaker 11 (41:57):
He will not change his game. I'm like, why will he?
Don't he have a different game plan?
Speaker 3 (42:03):
But uh it is.
Speaker 11 (42:06):
See.
Speaker 6 (42:07):
So so what's next. It's another big tournament right before
the end of the year.
Speaker 11 (42:12):
So you have the the so there they're they're gonna
do these like w t A Finals, the eight finals.
You have the Labor Cup coming up, which we don't
have Ben for the Labor Cup. Well, they're hoping that
we get Ben for the Labor Cup if he's he's better,
(42:33):
But apparently it's worse than they thought of us, so
they never really said what it is. So that's always
because whoever wins that is technically the number one player. Okay,
So they do like the rankings, but then they do
like a point run, which is a different set of
(42:54):
like like points for bigger tournaments, and then the final
eight play and then that's technically the number one player
for the year, even if you don't have the number
one ranking.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
And what's the.
Speaker 6 (43:09):
Difference between the Labor Cup and a Davis Cup.
Speaker 11 (43:13):
Oh, the Labor Cup, which is interesting, is just Americas,
the Americas versus the rest of the world. Okay, So
we got North America, South America's Middle America or whatever
all that the Americas, okay, and it's everybody else. We
never win. Well, we haven't won because we would have
(43:37):
like we would be able to, like we would be
It's still Federal was over there, Novak was over there,
and the doll was everybody was over there except whoever
was in the US or in South America basically, but
it would be close, but we wouldn't get it. But
we'll we'll see, we'll see if it's shifting a little bit.
But they're gonna have.
Speaker 4 (43:57):
Center, what they have Alcohorilm Center, they're gonna have center
and Alchhors.
Speaker 11 (44:10):
I mean we'll have they'll have zav and know that.
So we start with Taylor and Ben mhmm yeah, mm hmmmm. Yeah.
So it's fun. They make a lot, They make a
lot of money off of the players, you know, they
get It's like David's Cup. Is each country that's a
(44:33):
different Sorry to answer the question, David's Cup, you're paying
for your you're playing for your country. So so we
get some we get some wins in that, you know,
just depends on who's injured, and then a lot Sometimes
players don't play because they don't want it's not a
lot of money in it, and they want to get
ready for you know, Australia or the tournaments, the Grand Slams,
(44:58):
and if they're not completely in you know, top form,
they won't play. So they just keep going down the list.
But if everybody's in, we do well in that because
you have Federal and then you have nobody else. But
at least you know, we're deep. We're just not at
the very tip all the time.
Speaker 5 (45:17):
Okay, well well yeah, well thank you for that recap.
It was a great turn. I watched it from beginning
to end. I know you enjoyed yourself tremendously. I could
feel the energy coming through the TV. It was pat
you saw the celebrities. It was loud, you know.
Speaker 11 (45:40):
So there everywhere, I mean the US Open as a
whole outside everybody they come, they come for that. They
love it. The honeyduice drink is a drink that everybody
has to have. I have to send you all an ingredients.
So the honey drink is one drink that they sell
(46:02):
at the US Open. It's the signature drink. But they
sell enough of those drinks to pay the player's prize money. Wow,
that one drink. Now, they say all kinds of drinks,
of course, like they have that Moed has a signature
drink when you're there. Uh well, uh, there's a tequila
(46:26):
brand that has a signature drink when you're there. But
the Grey Goose Honey Deuse is the signature drink of
the US Open. And that drink alone, well, let me say,
last year it paid the prize money. I think this
year it paid the prize money and then it's still
sold more more than that. So and it's Gregos lemonade,
(46:48):
shamboard and honeymelon. Okay, and then you get this signature
glass and the glass has all the winners of the
US Open on it. It has like grey.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
Goose on it and.
Speaker 6 (47:03):
Doe.
Speaker 11 (47:04):
Yeah. And then they also have an HBC that they
had family was on was on on the center court
that the band came out and national anthem and all that.
So you know they're putting some effort into trying to
ensure that they get everybody there. At some point, I
(47:27):
had my clock Atlanta T shirt on my daughter stand
on that going there. M Yeah, I didn't go to HBCU,
but shoot, and that tuition, so I go there now,
(47:49):
no more questions. That's it.
Speaker 6 (47:51):
Yeah, that was it. I mean, that was a hell
of a recap.
Speaker 5 (47:54):
But I felt like I felt like we got a
tour through the US Open for two weeks.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
You did.
Speaker 6 (48:02):
Insight.
Speaker 11 (48:03):
Oh wait, can I tell you a couple more things?
Speaker 2 (48:07):
Sure?
Speaker 6 (48:07):
Absolutely?
Speaker 11 (48:08):
Some stuff down home. I want to make sure I
tell you. So there was a girl did you all
see the new breakthrough? Victoria? Make sure I say her
last name right, Victoria.
Speaker 6 (48:21):
And boco oh from Canada.
Speaker 8 (48:25):
Right.
Speaker 11 (48:25):
Well, she was born in North Carolina, but they live
in Canada. But that's right, but we're gonna see what happens.
She probably stay in Canada, but she'd beat four Grand
Slam winners, so she's ranked two, but she did lose
the first round of the Open.
Speaker 6 (48:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (48:41):
So the data and the analytics they have in tennis
now is incredible. So if that many people make an
effort to figure out who you are and what your
weakness is, and you're only seventeen, it'll be interesting to
see how she keep it up over the year year.
But at least he's there, and if she's twenty two,
(49:03):
we get to see her for a whole year. They're
not gonna be able to knock her off.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
She'said.
Speaker 11 (49:08):
So that's a new face.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
And was it wasn't the wasn't there a young gentleman
from Canada as well?
Speaker 6 (49:15):
What's uh? He's been around.
Speaker 11 (49:19):
Felix and Felix went up.
Speaker 1 (49:22):
He went up like fourteen spots too, right, he's now thirteen,
I believe I think he went At.
Speaker 6 (49:27):
One time, Phelix was like top five, top ten.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
But he's back and I watched that match, I watched
the one before he lost, and he's he's solid and
he's still in a good age range.
Speaker 11 (49:43):
He's he's very level headed. Ye, he's about to get married,
so we'll see how, you know, what that turns into.
But I like his game. I like his game, and
I think that he I think he's all in in
his head and his training and we're just we'll just
(50:04):
see how that goes. And then the last thing was
Madison Keys lost first round.
Speaker 6 (50:10):
Yeah, I saw that. I was surprised by that.
Speaker 11 (50:13):
Yeah, she lost first round. I was surprised by that too,
because she likes to open.
Speaker 6 (50:19):
Yeah. Yeah, I predicted at least semi finals for the Open.
Speaker 11 (50:23):
We wanted that. And I got to see my girl,
Jazzmine Paulini in person. I had never seen her in person.
I watched her play.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
She's a beast. She's a beast like her.
Speaker 11 (50:34):
I like her. I like her. She they got they
got to the semi finals of doubles, but she lost
third round and single. She was rased. She was seated four. Okay,
so okay, that's all that. When you get why you
get quiet?
Speaker 4 (50:55):
Why did you get I'm just listening because I like
to learn new. I like to learn new.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
Up, I'm learning, you know, Okay, I'm learning. I like
to listen. I like to learn new things.
Speaker 4 (51:05):
And and I Kobe and I watched the Kobe and
I when Kobe came out to visit.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
We had it on the whole entire time.
Speaker 4 (51:12):
We watched all the all the tournaments, all the all,
We watched all the games from morning and from morning
to night.
Speaker 11 (51:20):
Yeah, because you think so when you go there and
gates open at eleven, you keep thinking you're gonna leave.
You keep thinking you're gonna leave, and you go, oh,
that person did, and then you look up. It's one
of every I mean, I think I left there between
midnight and two am at least ten nights and back
at eleven, and I was working in between, in between
(51:42):
watching and everything. It's no way you can leave. You
already there, Like, how you gonna leave?
Speaker 2 (51:48):
Where are you going?
Speaker 5 (51:50):
Yeah? I was watching one night and it was they
said Sierra and Russell Wilson was there till like two
fifteen am.
Speaker 11 (51:57):
You don't leave, you cannot leave.
Speaker 6 (51:59):
Yeah, Fat Joe was there.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
But that's why Russell Wilson played. That's why Russell Wilson plays.
Russell will right, that's my point.
Speaker 11 (52:15):
What did you say? I don't hear what you said?
Speaker 4 (52:17):
He should have went right, you said, you said, you
said it was a week. I said he should have
been watching film.
Speaker 11 (52:28):
Is his season?
Speaker 8 (52:29):
Yes it is.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
Son went, yeah, Sierra should have went to the open
by herself.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
Well, I'm gonna comfort a little bit and i gotta
go watch film. And you know what I mean, he said,
we got.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Go ahead, No, you go go ahead.
Speaker 11 (52:52):
The first day they went, he was there with her
and the two kids. And then the second day just
you know, the second day it was her and the
two kids, and he didn't go. Oh right, you're right.
They made too much to play with it. They do,
(53:12):
they make you know, it's it's too much. It's too
much going on to you don't have to watch tennis.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
Right, I'm only he showed his face. You know, he
gotta go work. Now. Man, that's a whole nother topic.
Speaker 11 (53:32):
It's but it's doubling down on on what we were
talking about. So yes, man, it's the same but different.
So yep, yeah, yeah, well.
Speaker 4 (53:44):
You look good with that You look good with that
hat on, and yeah, you know, we appreciate, we appreciate
all the love and support and you know, everything that
you bring to the table.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
And you let us know, you know, these things and.
Speaker 4 (53:57):
Stuff like that, because I think all of us, you know,
even you know, even though he's been been a part
of the tennis world for so long. I mean, we
learned something new. That's why when you talk, I'm quiet.
You know what I'm saying. I want to learn. I
want to you know, it helped me out, give me information,
you know what I mean. So when when I'm talking
in the barbershops and all around, I can all, hey, listen,
(54:18):
my sister said such such and such and such or whatever,
and as young well, just in the African American community,
we don't you know, you don't find too many people
that can give give you that information. So it's very
important that we have somebody like you on the show
that can let us know what's going on. You don't
(54:39):
see the behind this things. Things we don't we didn't
know about certain players.
Speaker 11 (54:45):
Yeah, and you know what, there are a lot of
African American players in the qualifying the week before because
you know, there's a qualifying event, UH sixty four draw
that people play for eight for eight spots, and there
were a number there's a pipeline, so they're still coming.
(55:07):
They're looking, you know, in the age of Victoria and
the Junior tournament. So we need more men. We do
need more man We need more man players, and we
need more coaches. But but it's gonna come. They're still coming.
And and Kobe, I'm gonna do an event in Baltimore.
Speaker 6 (55:26):
Okay, come play.
Speaker 11 (55:30):
You're gonna have to come play.
Speaker 2 (55:33):
It's coming. We're gonna do.
Speaker 11 (55:34):
We're gonna do a little fundraiser with copp and State.
Speaker 4 (55:38):
I'm gonna connect you with somebody that's that's very important
in the Baltimore world and community.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
His name is Kareem Swinton. Okay, he is. He does.
Speaker 4 (55:47):
Well, we'll we'll talk about but he is. If any
big events is happening in Baltimore, it falls under him.
So okay, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
Connect you with Kareem.
Speaker 4 (55:59):
And trust me, next time we come back on here,
I guarantee you you're gonna be like, thank you, appreciate you.
Speaker 5 (56:07):
Okay, all right, And Jerry, before before we let you go,
give us your prediction of the Crawford Canelo Alphabrez fight.
Speaker 11 (56:18):
Oh my goodness, why do you do that?
Speaker 6 (56:27):
You gotta keep you on your toes.
Speaker 5 (56:37):
Mm hmmm, did you'll discuss No, no, this this, this
is the next topic. I wanted to get your get
your opinion, your perspective of the fight.
Speaker 11 (56:50):
I literally would be guessing. I'm gonna be guessing, but
I'm gonna go with when is it?
Speaker 6 (56:59):
It's oh.
Speaker 11 (57:06):
M, just go with Yeah, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna
go with Alvarez.
Speaker 2 (57:19):
You're gonna go with Canelo?
Speaker 11 (57:21):
Canelo? Yeah, that's what I'm sorry?
Speaker 6 (57:24):
All right, all right, right, okay?
Speaker 11 (57:27):
Did I say that?
Speaker 1 (57:28):
Right?
Speaker 3 (57:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (57:31):
What time is the fight?
Speaker 1 (57:33):
Now?
Speaker 11 (57:33):
I gotta watch it?
Speaker 5 (57:34):
You know it don't probably the main fight probably morning,
damn there midnight.
Speaker 4 (57:38):
Yeah, okay, I'll be watching it.
Speaker 11 (57:42):
So now now I got now and put now and
put myself out there.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
It's on It's on Netflix too. It's not a it's
not a paper, it's a Netflix event.
Speaker 11 (57:52):
I know they started doing that, right yeah yeah yeah,
mm hmm. Okay, I get to know. I'm getting in
your home. I've been. I've been in the US Open
Disney World.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
I haven't.
Speaker 11 (58:08):
I didn't watch I did watch the game. Now, I
did watch football. I did watch.
Speaker 2 (58:14):
You did you watched the Baltimore Ravens game?
Speaker 8 (58:17):
No?
Speaker 11 (58:20):
I did, Okay, I watched the.
Speaker 6 (58:27):
Other game, watching the Commanders.
Speaker 11 (58:32):
Yeah, I watched the Commanders. I was when I started watching,
I didn't even think there was a Ravens team, so
I didn't switch.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
About.
Speaker 5 (58:45):
It was a pleasure to have you on Jersey.
Speaker 6 (58:50):
It was a pleasure to have your thanks for coming
off piece good night.
Speaker 11 (58:53):
I can't watch them, okay, So y'all right up sports,
y'all stick the tent here. Y'are supposed to just stick
to tennis, kickball or something went into boxing and football.
(59:13):
I can't even have the team.
Speaker 5 (59:15):
And you had, you had the tennis segment and now
we gotta now we gotta hit the other other segment.
Speaker 6 (59:22):
You welcome to stay along.
Speaker 2 (59:28):
The pleasures by y'all.
Speaker 5 (59:36):
Uh hilarry, pretty dude, because you always talking about quick
that didn't take.
Speaker 6 (59:46):
So No, while we're on the topic of a fight,
who who y'all got starting up? Talk with you?
Speaker 3 (59:51):
More money?
Speaker 6 (59:53):
Crawford can.
Speaker 8 (59:54):
I'm gonna go Crawford. I just want to see him win.
Speaker 9 (01:00:00):
I understand the risk in the fight when you jump
weight classes like that if you're Crawford, But until I.
Speaker 8 (01:00:07):
See him get beat, I'm always ribbed with Crawford.
Speaker 6 (01:00:11):
Nice. What about you, coach Milton?
Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
I'm going with Crawford.
Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
Man, I think people overestimating the fact the size. I
don't think that size is gonna be too much of
a difference for Crawford. I think his walk around weight
is more natural to the weight that he's fighting, and
I think he you know, he's gonna have to take
some risk, but I think he's skillful enough to bake
Canelo in to get him to fight that he wants
him to fight because Canelo. I think Cornelo wants to
(01:00:38):
try to make a statement. But I think Crawford size.
I think it's gonna shock a lot of people.
Speaker 6 (01:00:46):
Yeah, because oh who you got in the fight?
Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
I got budged.
Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
I got budged until otherwise I got budd shimple I got.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
So I'm going with Bud.
Speaker 5 (01:01:02):
Yeah, Yeah, I'm with y'all. I think clean sweep on
our panel, I'm going with Bud as well. I think
MaTx Kellerman kind of explained that the best of me.
He said that if you look at both fighters, Bud
checked every single box except the size box, the natural
(01:01:23):
size and being in that weight class. But he said,
you really won't know how that would affect Bud until
you actually see them get in the ring of fight.
He said, after watching Bud how he transformed his body,
like his body, he's built like he should be in
that weight class. So and he still has the same
(01:01:43):
quickness and speed and skills set that he had when
he was in the lighter divisions. So I mean, as
long as Bud can take Canello punches, because he will
get he will get hit a couple of times, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 6 (01:01:57):
So I think that would be the tailor to take.
If he can take his punch.
Speaker 5 (01:02:01):
If he can take Anello punch, I don't think Canelo
will have a chance after that.
Speaker 6 (01:02:06):
Hm.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
I agree, Yeah, Yeah, I think Crawford he a fighter
for real, like he more than you know, he's a
fighter like that.
Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
Dude is a street fighter.
Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
So I think he'll be following that in that in
that in that fight.
Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
So yeah, yeah, he's a smart boxer. He used he
used both hands equally as well as good you know,
both have the same amount of power. And he switches
throughout the throughout the fight. You never know what Styley
gonna come with. He makes adjustments, you know, on the fly.
So I mean he's definitely I think he's the smart fighter.
(01:02:43):
He's the more savvy fighter. Uh, so we'll we'll see.
It's gonna be a good one. I can't wait to
see it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
Yeah, looking forward to it, Yes.
Speaker 5 (01:02:52):
Sir, So we're just switching up speeds. Let's talk about
some n C Double A football. Give a little recap.
What games did you guys that you liked didn't like?
Speaker 6 (01:03:03):
Oh, doll in the game that caught your attention over
the weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
Oh that Florida State Alabama game two weeks ago caught
my attention. Shout out to my ol g Fredo and
things like that. I think Florida State. Uh, this is
for this is an example where the transfer portal can
truly help your team out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Brought some dogs in.
Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
We got a safety that just coming downhill that don't
care about whether or not you got a Florida State
uniform on or not, because he knocking people out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
I love the floor. I'm interested in seeing.
Speaker 4 (01:03:42):
How how Notre Dame going bounce back playing a tough opponent.
Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
Stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (01:03:51):
But I thought, overall, man college is in the college
football is in a great, great space in a great place.
Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
And uh that's just my two cents on.
Speaker 6 (01:04:00):
Yeah, what about you, coach men? What games caught your attention?
Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
Uh, I think we talked about a little bit was
a U n C game. I think, uh, whoever scheduled
that that opponent wasn't doing their research. You know, if
you're gonna do a Belichick, you know you're gonna bring
out a new era.
Speaker 3 (01:04:19):
You can't schedule that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Team that was just in that same type of game
against Colorado the year before and got embarrassed. So that's
like bringing like I said earlier, that's like bringing Appalachian
State in. They gonna they gonna come in hungry, they
gonna come in. They got enough talent to compete with you.
And North Carolina is not a football school. So for me,
I think they just scaleduled that wrong. You're gonna you're
(01:04:42):
gonna do that. You know everybody's gonna come out. You know,
everybody's gonna be there, Michael Jordan, Lawrence Telor, all the greats,
Me and Ham like, you got the lineage of Carolina
out and you scheduled that game and so and then
watching Bill's reaction, man, uh, he looked, he looks sick.
And then for him to have that young lady young
(01:05:04):
And we talked about a little bit a little while ago,
is about you know, why is his business all in
the you know street about his personal life?
Speaker 3 (01:05:11):
That ship showed up on a salad man at no
point in time.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
How about ever ever seen a mother, an auntie, a wife,
a girlfriend, a sister, anybody come down on the Salealine
doing the game, not at halftime, she on the field
talking to this dude and they getting their assets handed
(01:05:36):
to him like that so to me and like that,
that just that just has a disaster written all over it.
I think Bill if he don't, if he don't correct
something quick, uh, he and his son gonna better because
I don't think his son looked impressed with running that
defense either, you know. So yeah, that was the game
(01:05:56):
to me, just because I'm a Carolina fan. And of
course the Texas Ohio State game. You know, Manning struggled
a little bit, and I think he struggled in week two.
Hopefully he gets back on uh, you know, gets back
on track. But just those two games stood out to me.
And salute to Florida State. You know, we talked about
that one as well. I think I think that dude
(01:06:17):
was about to get fired with this upcoming week, Alabama
coach gonna be out of there.
Speaker 6 (01:06:25):
Yeah, yeah, he he don't think nice for sure. More money?
Well what you what you see over the weekend?
Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Man?
Speaker 8 (01:06:33):
Shout out the old dog in Florida State.
Speaker 9 (01:06:35):
Man, I mean we gave him a lot of ship
when they when they were sorry, so we got flowers
when they good.
Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
I appreciate your money. I appreciate you money moree.
Speaker 3 (01:06:45):
Hey that quarterback for real? Man, y'all got a leader.
Oh that dude for real?
Speaker 9 (01:06:49):
He show is another just general observation I'll make across
college football. With the transfer portal coming in, uh, we
got to be careful annointing these freshman quarterbacks because the
transfer portal has trained the talent trajectory. Right, So now
you have defenders that are coming from different schools and
it's kind of being ran like the NFL. Right, So
(01:07:11):
like college coaches, they can put certain players in certain
schemes to match up. And then so now when you
have a freshman quarterback, they're you know, the way that
they're processing the game. It looks like a rookie quarterback
in the NFL. So some of these freshmen that didn't
look too great. It's because the speed of the game
in college is just different. With these schools being able
(01:07:32):
to handpick their talent. So, and I mean, if you're
going to bring in a ten million dollar quarterback, if
you Michigan, you got to you gotta figure out the
system for them. It can't be the same old saying.
But that was just my general observation. Man, I think
some of the quarterback play was terrible because the defenses
are aligned differently.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
And shit, mo shit that that speaks to shit not
only freshman quarterbacks, quarterbacks in general, because the hell that
how State defensive coordinated school the maning some up.
Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
He couldn't figure out nothing.
Speaker 9 (01:08:05):
Well, hey, coach, I'm gonna speak on that real fast,
right right.
Speaker 8 (01:08:09):
So I don't think it was just manning.
Speaker 9 (01:08:11):
If you think about the talent that Texas is lost
at the wide receiver position, that had a lot to
do with it. And so, you know what I mean,
Just think about how many Texas wide receivers are playing
in the NFL and what they got, now, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 8 (01:08:25):
So I think that had a lot to do with it.
Speaker 9 (01:08:27):
Now, I'm not saying Ohio State didn't have some outstanding defenders,
but it looks a little different when you got Xavier
Worthy or Anti di Michel out there or some of
the other players that they had at Texas in the past.
Speaker 5 (01:08:40):
All right, I'm with you, Yeah, I mean, I just
think that was a tough Week one match up. You know,
you at Ohio State, going against that defense. I mean,
being in that atmosphere, your your first start ever on
the road. You know, I don't care how good you,
I don't care what your last name is. You know,
(01:09:00):
that's that's just that's a challenging position to be in,
you know what I mean. I wish that Week one
would have been similar to that week to give him
a chance to kind of, you know, get get used
to everything, get used to his offensive line, it used,
to see what his receivers can do, with his running
backs can do all that good stuff, and just get
some confidence seeing you know, just seeing him make completions
(01:09:23):
and throwing touchdowns and stuff that. You know, that helps
somebody going into a tougher game. So but but you know,
I think he's going to have an outstanding season. I'm
not going to judge him by how bad he looked
against Ohio State because that could have happened to any quarterback.
Speaker 6 (01:09:39):
In my opinion.
Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
He struggled early against in that second game too. He
struggled early, but he pulled.
Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
And then he started to Yeah. Yeah, you know. As
far as just this past weekend, it wasn't really many
Marquee games to watch. It was kind of a lot
of big, big dog teams going against little dogs and
just beating up on them.
Speaker 6 (01:10:01):
But two games that did stand out to me.
Speaker 5 (01:10:04):
I watched a little bit of Clemson and Troy, and
Clemson just don't look look good. They I don't think
they're as good as with football team as everybody tried
to make them out to be. You know that when
they start off number four in the country or something
like that, and they they're definitely not a top ten
team in the nation. They they don't look They looked
(01:10:25):
maybe better than they did last year, maybe a little better,
but they're not with what everybody expected them to be
coming into this season.
Speaker 6 (01:10:34):
And then it was another game.
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
That Michigan, that Michigan Oklahoma game with that with that
freshman that's what money more. I don't I don't want
to speak for money more, but freshman quarterback getting that
got the bad Yeah, him playing at Oklahoma, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (01:10:52):
Yeah, whatever, Yeah, that that was the game right there.
Speaker 5 (01:10:55):
Oh and then as far as the week one, since
we didn't get to talk about it because you know,
he wasn't alive. You know, of course my team went
down Miami, you know, jumped on this man got that
w But at the end of the day, I couldn't
be mad. I thought it was two two really good
teams battling competing.
Speaker 6 (01:11:14):
It was a close game, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:11:17):
That's the good thing about it though, Cod And like
that goes to with money mode, because what all y'all staying.
I mean, at the end of the day, you can
practice all you want in college.
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
Don't got no preseason, right, So it's on.
Speaker 4 (01:11:31):
One hand, it's good that you are playing these top five,
top teams, you know, these top whatever teams are playing
against each other because they're trying to get ready for
the for the playoffs, and also see where they stand,
you know what I'm saying. The one thing we do
know as the season goes on, they gonna get better, right, So,
like you said, Money Moore, I think it's gonna be
(01:11:52):
interesting to see how the freshmen, you know, how they
get better, how they you know what I'm saying, move
forward and things like that. That and yeah, like money
Moe said, you've given these these freshmen that ain't have
not read.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
A college defense. You give them on the back.
Speaker 4 (01:12:10):
Hey, you might want to do a warm up game
first like they used to do back in the day,
and then do a big time game like that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
But we get it, we understand it.
Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
The college sports is a business and that's the reason
why all of us was tuned in to watch those
games or whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
So I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:12:30):
But I'm with money Mow one hundred, one hundred percent
when it comes to these freshman quarterbacks. People don't understand.
I don't care what level you on. Quarterback is the
hardest position to play on the field.
Speaker 6 (01:12:41):
Period, yeah, period.
Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
Oh oh, what do you think about if you if
you had a chance to see, what do you think
about how Deon handled the quarterback situation of Colorado this
past weekend?
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
Well, I think Dion has to understand. Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:12:57):
I think on one end, you know, no matter what
you think about your door saying that he was a
good solid quarterback, he didn't, you know. And when you
he been coaching his tone for so long, you know,
him and his son sort of think of life, you know.
But when you let it goes to what money Moe said,
when you bring it in a transform portal and you
(01:13:18):
got a four star, five star freshman coming in quarterback, Yeah, okay,
cool that it is what it is. But can you
be a leader of men?
Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
You know?
Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
Can you know is that wide receiver gonna trust that
five star to know? Hey, man, I'm reading this coverage,
you know, just like you reading this coverage. Hey, I'm
I'm supposed to run out and he throwing a he
throwing a quick slant.
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
Noah, you know. So like I said, I think ultimately
they all gonna get better.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
And I think, uh, Dion, he need to play whoever's
gonna give his give his team opportunity to win games.
And it don't matter if you're a freshman, or you
a walk on, or you somebody that you know. And
so we'll see. That's the good thing about football, Like
I tell kids all the time, Like I tell program, whoever,
all the gods you can't be, it's gonna show up
(01:14:09):
on tape, right, So we'll see.
Speaker 9 (01:14:14):
Not to mention it to Old's point, man, I want
you to think back, man, we all watch football for
a long time.
Speaker 8 (01:14:19):
What's the last.
Speaker 9 (01:14:20):
True freshman that played three years of college ball and
was sensational throughout three years.
Speaker 8 (01:14:27):
That shit is damn then unprecedented. You understand what I mean.
Even some of the reasons the.
Speaker 9 (01:14:32):
Recent Heisman Trophy when we talking about Jaydon Daniels, some
of the other guys that are out there, they weren't
great for three years. I get takes time to catch up.
But you know, the business of the game. Put them
out there on Front Street and these guys, you know,
they're looking bad.
Speaker 8 (01:14:47):
They gotta like if they have somebody in their.
Speaker 9 (01:14:50):
Ear, get them to understand that you might want to
sit on the sideline and watch because you get you
get one shot at this thing sometimes before your image
is ruined.
Speaker 8 (01:14:59):
That's the name emis likeness.
Speaker 9 (01:15:00):
You might not get the same bag if you you know,
you're out there looking bag mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
What what was what was the what was the total?
Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
And I'm trying to remember it, but they gave their
kid how much money at Michigan h ten mill?
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
Well how many years ago he got?
Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
It was like he it's ten million a year for
the next two he got like thirty million dollar package
or something like that, right, crazy, crazy, I.
Speaker 4 (01:15:25):
Thought I thought it was ten for the whole entire time,
But maybe it is I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:15:30):
It's over.
Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
It's it's ten million per year for the next two
or three years. He got a crazy crazy Yeah. I
was like, they gave him what But hey, that's that's
the business, right.
Speaker 8 (01:15:41):
Shout out to the young man.
Speaker 9 (01:15:42):
Just get in the books, learn your playbook, and get
better because yeah, yeah, shout out.
Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
Shout out to the people that we want to be
our sponsors for drum uh.
Speaker 8 (01:15:55):
You go.
Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
Shout out to the people who we trying to be
getting a sponsorship from.
Speaker 6 (01:16:02):
Right right right, We're proving.
Speaker 8 (01:16:07):
Over here you can, you can.
Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
We were good for it.
Speaker 5 (01:16:15):
Hey, Before we move on to the NFL, I guess uh,
this coming up Saturday is three I would say three
marquee games on the schedule. I just want to get
going around the horn to get you guys predictions. So
so the first game I have is Georgia Tennessee. Well,
what's your what's your prediction in that game?
Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
Are they at Tennessee too correct.
Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
At Tennessee at Tennessee?
Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
Yeah, I like Tennessee.
Speaker 6 (01:16:42):
Mm hmmm, sang sang.
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
I like Tennessee. I like Tennessee to you know, beat Georgia.
Speaker 5 (01:16:49):
Yeah, I'm gonna go Georgia, and I'm not going against
you guys. I'm just it's just hard when you hear
the name Georgia, it's just hard to go against them.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
So right, Kirby Smart has gotten that from everybody.
Speaker 4 (01:17:02):
But I just think going into Tennessee, the first big,
big time SEC game, it's probably a night game two
or or whatever. Rocky Top gonna be robbing, Knoxville gonna
be going crazy, and I think it's gonna be a
good one, and I think Tennessee gonna pull it off.
Speaker 6 (01:17:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:17:22):
South Florida, Miami, he and it's at Mammy.
Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
I'm I want to be I'm interested to see how
the quarterback plays.
Speaker 6 (01:17:34):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
He had a bounce back game against you guys. I
want to see if he keeps it consistent against these athletes.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
South Florida, Slot Florida. South Florida is for real, man.
Speaker 1 (01:17:44):
So it's it's he's gonna be the He's gonna be
the difference because he his receivers bailed him out. His
receivers made some hell of the catchers. Man, he was
throwing some bad balls and this receivers bailed him out.
Speaker 6 (01:17:55):
Especially freshman receiver receiver. Is all of it a number tennis.
Speaker 2 (01:18:04):
Yeah, shout out.
Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
Shout out to who somebody we're gonna have on the show,
my man, DeMarcus Van Dyke, former NFL player. He actually
went to the University of Miami, so this one won't
really mean a lot to him, going up against his
alma mater and and things like that. So shout out
to DVD Man because I know he's been with that
head coach back when they were at back when they
(01:18:28):
were at uh, you know what what, I think the
head coach was at f i U First or Florida
Atlantic First, I think DVD was or South Florida or
Central Florida or whatever, and he took that whole staff
with him.
Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
So you man, shout out to them because.
Speaker 4 (01:18:42):
I remember when DVD first got the job and and
things like that or whatever. So shout out to DVD
Man and that whole entire staff. That was a that
was a great win. And it also lets you it
opens the doors for all those young kids down there
in Florida to say, hey, we won't always have to
go to Florida or Miami or Florida State. We can
go to some of these other programs. And they doing
(01:19:03):
a lot at USF and Florida Atlantic. They're building those
you know, not as big stadiums, but still a nice
stadium on campus.
Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
And things like that. I remember back in the day
was South Florida and them.
Speaker 4 (01:19:15):
Back in the days they used to play at at
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stadium and that joint look half empty, right,
So the fact that they bringing it on campus, getting
everybody involved and things like that, and that coach man
where he got going on with his coaching staff man,
salute to them. So with that being said, I think
Miami gonna beat the dog shit out them, absolutely old dog.
(01:19:36):
I was waiting, Yeah, I think Miami. I think Miami
gonna bring them back to reality a little bit. I
truly believe Miami is a It is definitely a top
top ten team in the country period, and I truly
believe it will be in the playoffs at the end
of the year.
Speaker 6 (01:19:54):
Yeah. Yeah, I think Miami is the real deal. You know.
Speaker 5 (01:19:57):
I got to see him, you know, go against my
mob week one, and they're strong, defensively offensive. Quarterback looked
like he you know, revitalized, you know, in terms of
how how it was that uh Georgia. Yes, So he
looks like he looks like he's happy where he is now.
(01:20:20):
He's comfortable. So yeah, I mean they come in into
this game. They ranked number five in the country right now.
I think that's a good spot for them. I think
they solid five teams. So yeah, it's no reason for
me to go against Miami, especially against South Florida.
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
And it's at University of Miam and is at the youth.
Speaker 6 (01:20:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:20:43):
Again, the last game you got Texas A and M
at Notre Dame last year was it was a really
good game. I think Notre Dame maybe won by ten
points something like that. But Texas A, Texas A and
M are a tough team, but they are at South Bend.
I'm biased, so I'm definitely going with know the Dame.
You know that, But I think they still can beat them.
(01:21:04):
I saw a lot from them. I think they learned
a lot from that Miami game and they're gonna make
some adjustments and I think they're gonna take that next
step forward. So I'm going to know the Dame on
that one.
Speaker 9 (01:21:17):
I'm gonna go know the Dame because Texas A and
M since Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans left, they don't
show up in big games.
Speaker 4 (01:21:24):
I'm going with Chexa, A and M just for the
simple fact there is a person that's next to me
on the screen period.
Speaker 3 (01:21:33):
I got Notre Dame and it's a night game in
South Ben. I don't I don't see them doing too much.
Speaker 5 (01:21:38):
Yeah, yeah, so let's withit.
Speaker 6 (01:21:42):
Just speeds. Let's take it to the NFL. It was
some great games we saw.
Speaker 5 (01:21:47):
We I mean, with your thoughts, with your thoughts on
on week one of the NFL season, I love let's
talk about your team. Let's just let's start with your teams.
How do you think, Cinnati?
Speaker 4 (01:22:02):
I was surprised that the defense stepped up and made
some plays to keep us in the game. I think
our offense played terrible. We have to I love our
running back that we got. I loved him last year
as a rookie. I love him this year. But overall,
offensively we were trash, and I think I was happy
(01:22:24):
even though our defense is beyond trash.
Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
They recycled.
Speaker 4 (01:22:29):
But just the simple fact is that they when it
came time for them to step up and make plays,
and they did that. So I tip my hat to him.
They played well. We got the we got the dub
and that's all that matters. So I'm happy moving on
the week two.
Speaker 5 (01:22:44):
So yeah, what about you more money? Well what about
them cowboys?
Speaker 6 (01:22:50):
Baby?
Speaker 8 (01:22:51):
Man?
Speaker 9 (01:22:51):
I was I was happy to see the fight and
the dog man. You know, nobody gave him a chance.
They went out there, they shot all the bullets they
had in the chamber and c culd catch a damn ball.
We might we might have had a shot at that game,
Miles Sanders, don't fumble in the reds on. We got
some things we got to show up defensively, But man,
I'm telling you right now, I predicted the Eagles to
win the NFC East and go to the championship for
(01:23:13):
a reason. Defensively, it's tough to go against that team.
Speaker 8 (01:23:16):
Man. They got a lot of weapons out there, so if.
Speaker 9 (01:23:19):
You can stick with them, you can pretty much play
with anybody in this league.
Speaker 8 (01:23:22):
So I was very proud of the fight they put up.
Speaker 9 (01:23:25):
Plus with all of Michael Parsons drama coming in, they
could have easily just hung their head, but they didn't.
Speaker 8 (01:23:30):
They fall through it.
Speaker 5 (01:23:31):
So I'm happy, Yes, sir, Coach Milton, Well, you know
I used to be a Cowboy fan.
Speaker 3 (01:23:38):
I will say that they didn't lose because of that
this week. So I'll give them that.
Speaker 1 (01:23:45):
Like I said, ceedee lamb, you know, he needs to
show up in games like that. And I'll just say
just just because again I'm not I'm not really you know,
I don't really have a team. I like the fact
that Cam, Travis Hunter, JJ McCarthy, that all these young
guys showed up, you know that that that all that,
(01:24:06):
you know, all these big name guys. Camboy had a
great game. His his leadership let him down. His top
receiver can't jered you. They can't catch a goddamn cold.
But Camp looked good. Travis Hunter, he answered the call.
So I was just probably see all these young guys
step up and make plays. And I got to give
a shout out to young boy Todd.
Speaker 3 (01:24:25):
Felton, uh who who's a local.
Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
Kid from Stonebridge here who he plays for the Vikings
and he was flying around on special teams last night,
showed up, was always around the bass. I got to
give him a quick shot out as well. So just
just had glad to see these young guys, you know,
showing up and doing that part answering, answering all the
questions that they have about him.
Speaker 6 (01:24:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:24:47):
And for me, you know, I was disappointed that my
team lost how they lost, you know, but at the
same time, you know, I think the expectations and the
gold is still the same.
Speaker 8 (01:24:57):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:24:57):
I still think, uh, my opinion, my humble opinion, the
best team in football and what is that?
Speaker 4 (01:25:05):
What can you let our listeners and viewers that may
be their first time watching the show?
Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
Who is your team is talking about?
Speaker 5 (01:25:11):
D Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson and company. They know who
it is, but we got.
Speaker 4 (01:25:18):
We might have some new new listeners and viewers. They
might not have heard, you know, they might not know.
Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
Who your team is. Sir. I'm just just trying. I
just want everybody to know that you are Baltimore Ravens fan.
Speaker 6 (01:25:30):
I'm definitely.
Speaker 5 (01:25:31):
I'm definitely Baltimore Ravens fan, and my expectations are still
the same for them to represent the AFC in the
Super Bowl like like oh though, like you always say,
for the last I don't know how many years that
Baltimore isn't gonna be judged by what they do in
the regular season is what they do in the postseason.
(01:25:53):
So so us blowing out Buffalo last year in the
regular season in Game three, didn't win as a super Bowl.
So I'm not gonna get this scourage by losing that
game the other night the way we did and to
knock us off our post to get into where we
want to go. So but at the same time, you know,
you got all of these first round draft picks on defense.
Speaker 6 (01:26:15):
You know what I mean? That that's secondary lookatrocious.
Speaker 5 (01:26:18):
Man. They just I think Zion Adlexander, I don't think
he's back yet, you know what I mean, because he
looked lost out there to be like a former All NFL,
All Pro Pro Bowl type defensive back, you know, he
just he looked like a rookie. He looked lost out there. Yeah, man,
(01:26:40):
we didn't get we didn't get to the quarterback. The
past rush look weak, you know. So and then the
offensive coordinators. This is some conversation me and my pops
have all the time about Baltimore. One thing about Baltimore.
They'll get you. They'll go to a fourth quarter with
a double digit lead, and then and then the play
(01:27:02):
call and start getting get to be conservative instead of
putting your foot on somebody neck and continue to do
what got you there. They start doing these bullshit plays
waisting downs and then all of a sudden, you're not
putting the whole game, and all of a sudden in
the fourth quarter, you're punting the ball away. You know
what I'm saying. And I heard somebody say this, I
(01:27:22):
think maybe a couple of days ago, and I agree
with Baltimore.
Speaker 6 (01:27:26):
Gotta change that mindset.
Speaker 5 (01:27:28):
We're not the We're not the two thousand Ravens with
ray Lewis and read. Our Our best assets is our
quarterback and our running back. Our offense is our strength.
Now you know what I mean. Let the defense catch
a defense can catch up. They got the talent to
do it. But you gotta realize where your bread is buttered,
and that's our offense. So you're getting so you win
(01:27:51):
and lose with that offense. You don't you don't let
your you don't put your defense out the dry like
that when you got Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson out there,
that said for defense trying to figure out which one
they got to stop or any respective play. So you know,
I just think the offensive coordinators Halbard need to figure
it out in terms of, you know, the way they
(01:28:12):
close out games, because I just saw a stat that
since he's been a coach. We've lost seventeen double digits
leads in the fourth quarter, the most part any coaching
in the entire NFL during that time span from nineteen
ninety one to now. So you know, that's that's a
that's a big problem. But I mean, at the same time,
(01:28:32):
I'm encouraged. I think we will be fine. We got
Cleveland on Sunday. I think, you know, I think you know,
that's gonna be a tough division game because their defense
always always travel with them. But that's a game that
we can still get back on track. Before we had
a big Monday night game against the Lions, right.
Speaker 9 (01:28:54):
And you know what's crazy, code we both lost because
of fundamentals, right ceed lamb not looking the ball through,
looking to run before you catch it.
Speaker 8 (01:29:02):
And you guys, I didn't play in the NFL.
Speaker 9 (01:29:04):
I didn't even play college ball, but I did play
pop want to play high school. One thing they always
teach you is protect the sideline when when it's late game, right,
So if you let that tight end catch that ball
on the sideline, you wrong, you know what I mean.
I don't know if they was in a Cover three
or Cover four, it don't matter. You cannot let him
catch the ball on the sideline. If you Dereck Harry,
you gotta you gotta wrap up with two hands on
(01:29:26):
the ball, you put you put the Church's money on
the ground.
Speaker 8 (01:29:30):
Those two things cost your team the game.
Speaker 1 (01:29:32):
Shit, don't even wrap up, Go the fuck down, live
to fight another play because.
Speaker 2 (01:29:41):
I'm a motherfucker.
Speaker 1 (01:29:42):
Oh tell you man, I'm running the ship out the
ball with Derek Camry. But when he put that bitch
on the ground, I'm like, Yo, what are we doing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:29:50):
I can't say nothing about running the ball because the
dude that you expecting to be the cow bell and
bring to win home, he put the damn ball on
the ground for what he already had two hundred excuse
my language, what we're doing.
Speaker 3 (01:30:06):
I was like, I was giving the text in the
group running the air off the ball. He put it
on the ground. Like, Yo, I can't say nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:30:14):
In Kobe you talk about the secondary, but I thought
they was flying around Kyle Hamilton out there making plays.
Baltimore lost the game because they thought the ship was over.
That's why they lost the game. And when we can
we can say this, this and that. I've been on
those type of teams where yeah, we're good. They already
started thinking about what we were about to do. We about
(01:30:36):
to hit head back to Baltimore. We're gonna hit normal jeans.
We're gonna go to DC.
Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:30:42):
We can get back in time, we can we can
be at park, or we can hit the clubs. Baltimore
thought the game was over, and Buffalo when they got
that first one, they said, oh ship, we we got
a chance. And then they and then that obviously, you know,
gave the people they had that got that momentum. And
then obviously when they came back out the fumble was
(01:31:02):
was was huge.
Speaker 2 (01:31:03):
So I don't, I don't, I don't. I'm not gonna
get on here.
Speaker 4 (01:31:07):
Yeah, Baltimore got to clean up some stuff, and yeah,
Alexandria do. But it goes to show you and it
goes to tell you, like it don't matter what you
do in the preseason or whatever the case may be.
As a veteran, a lot of those guys use Week one, Okay,
this is sort of like my warm up game, you know,
and things like that and stuff. So that's why you
(01:31:27):
got a Joe Burrow who's been starting off crazy and
people like well, why is Joe Burrow still in it
in the preseason? Why is he in in the second quarter?
Because we've been playing like shit, you know, and we
haven't been starting off the way we wanted to. And
we still didn't start off the way we want to.
But imagine if he didn't play, we really would have
been looking like some trash.
Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
So I think.
Speaker 4 (01:31:48):
Baltimore played well. I love the way the Cowboys play.
I don't know what team coach Millon is on. Is
he with the Cowboys, with the Arizona I mean, are
you an Arizona Cardinal fan?
Speaker 1 (01:31:57):
Are you a strict watching NFL football?
Speaker 3 (01:32:01):
I'm not checking.
Speaker 2 (01:32:03):
I ain't if you Washington was a Cowboys fan.
Speaker 1 (01:32:07):
No, I never cheered for the Commanders, never ever, like
a couple of their players. But Nah, let me ask
you guys this though, what do you what do you
guys think about? The two questions I had coming into
the night was what do you guys feel about how
Rogers did in Pittsburgh and how the Kansas City Chiefs looked.
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
What he had money? Moe?
Speaker 8 (01:32:28):
So I like the way Rodgers looked in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 9 (01:32:31):
I think once like Oh said that you could tell
some of the Pittsburgh defenders were using that as like
a transition game, so.
Speaker 8 (01:32:38):
Once they get locked in, I think they're gonna be dangerous. Man.
And then Aaron.
Speaker 9 (01:32:41):
Rodgers and his wide receivers, they actually missed a couple
of throws just not having that time and.
Speaker 3 (01:32:46):
So I love it, man.
Speaker 9 (01:32:48):
I always I thought Aaron Rodgers needed an environment like
Pittsburgh because there's a couple of people in that locker
room that gonna check Aaron Rodgers, namely the head coach
cam with some other people.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
So I like it.
Speaker 9 (01:33:02):
And then as far as Kansas City, that's that's tough, man.
When you go into a game and you have packages
for Xavier Worth and he gets hurt, and you know,
I mean, that's that's tough. It kind of throws everything
off because they don't have a solidified running game, even
though I think they should run a kid from SMMU
a little bit more so. I think that's what throw
Kansas City off a little bit with not having one
(01:33:23):
of their star wide receivers. But as far as them
losing it is it's like what Kobe said, you know,
you ain't gonna jump off the bandwagon when you got
a legendary quarterback.
Speaker 8 (01:33:31):
You know, it's just one game, But that's my opinion, Fellas.
Speaker 5 (01:33:35):
Yeah, he in far as Kansas City, I mean, I'm
not I'm not taking too much out of that game,
you know what I mean. Yeah, they lost, They played
average average at best, but you know they started off
slow last year too. They didn't look good last year
in the first hand full of weeks and where they
(01:33:57):
end up. They were still in the super Bowl in
the AFC. So with Kansas City, you know, you can't
really rest the judgment on them because they're champions. They
got they got champion DNA and they'll figure it out
as they go. So I'm not even worried about them.
But I was more impressed with San Diego the way
they handle their business.
Speaker 3 (01:34:19):
Herbert looked good.
Speaker 6 (01:34:20):
Justin Herbert looked really good.
Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
And can y'all repeat that and say that one more time?
Who looked good?
Speaker 6 (01:34:26):
Justin Herbert? Herbert looked really good. He looked really good.
Speaker 5 (01:34:30):
And if you think about it, the last as far
as I can remember, the last few seasons, San Diego
and and Kansas City always played tough games, close games.
They always go down to the end, and they always
end up with the charges. Making one big mistake that
that hurts him and lose the game for him. This time,
(01:34:50):
that mistake didn't come, so so they so so they
took that next leap. I think Hardball doing a great job.
I think they're gonna be uh uh, a huge hurdle
for all the all of the favorites in the AFC
to beat when it comes when it comes down to
the playoffs, so that they just another another team in
(01:35:11):
that tough AFC that that you got gotta gotta compete against.
Speaker 6 (01:35:17):
And who's the other who's the other team you mentioned?
Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Coach, I was just.
Speaker 5 (01:35:23):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Aaron Rodgers looked good. Matter
of fact, I mean he had numbers last year. People
don't even realize he had the numbers that he had
last year because he's playing on a shitty team and
and all of that stuff.
Speaker 6 (01:35:36):
But you know, I think he looked really good.
Speaker 5 (01:35:38):
I think that was a good way to start off
the season for him and the Pittsburgh Stills.
Speaker 10 (01:35:43):
Uh you know.
Speaker 6 (01:35:44):
So, I mean the sky's the limit for them.
Speaker 5 (01:35:47):
As long as as long as they stay healthy and
the defense come to play, they're gonna be, like they
always are, a contender in that AFC North.
Speaker 3 (01:35:58):
Yeah, that's dope.
Speaker 4 (01:36:00):
Oh I thought it was good football. Like I said, uh,
live bullets. Right, everybody's tackling to the ground. Ain't no
red jersey on the quarterback, so he really having to move.
And you know, I think he played well. And I
think Aaron Rodgers just gotta may I'm not saying him
(01:36:23):
to be a game manager, but he.
Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
Doesn't have He has to realize he doesn't have to
do everything.
Speaker 4 (01:36:28):
One thing about Tom that he's gonna have that defense
and special teams and everything.
Speaker 2 (01:36:32):
It's a team game.
Speaker 4 (01:36:34):
And if he does continue to do what he needs
to do, keep the defense off the field, keep them fresh,
and make the plays that he needs to make.
Speaker 2 (01:36:42):
I think, I truly believe.
Speaker 4 (01:36:45):
I think Pittsburgh gonna be right there where they need
to be in the AFC North with Baltimore fighting for
that number one, number two Seeds, Bengals.
Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
And s.
Speaker 5 (01:37:01):
Right, well, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta be optimistic
about the Bengals because, like you said.
Speaker 4 (01:37:09):
Hey, hey coach, I don't need you to tell me
how to chase to be options about my team.
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
You weren't telling me that.
Speaker 4 (01:37:15):
You weren't telling me that twenty years ago when we
was won and fourteen, t'ming about be optimistic or when
we start off the season zero to twelve.
Speaker 5 (01:37:23):
Right, it wasn't nothing to be optimistic about that. Well,
I'm saying what I'm saying after week won like that
and then and then you know, the offense, the offense
will never play like that.
Speaker 6 (01:37:37):
Again. They're thirty forty point team at right, So that's
why I'm That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:37:44):
The optimism come from that that their defense played well, Yeah,
offense didn't, but they still win the game.
Speaker 2 (01:37:51):
That's what I'm saying. You gotta find ways to win.
Speaker 4 (01:37:53):
And if you find ways to win, no matter what NFL, college,
pop going or high school, whatever, you find ways win.
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
And they did that, you know what I mean. So
you know, and I ain't trying. You know what they say,
beat up a dead horse.
Speaker 4 (01:38:08):
But with Buffalo, Buffalo could have really just do that,
man like man, we're going on the week two, but
they got a couple of plays and changed the momentum
and then you know, Josh Allen made some great throws.
Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
Man, he made some great throws. And as much as
I I don't like, I don't like him, but I ain't.
Speaker 4 (01:38:29):
I ain't the biggest fan of Josh Allen, but man,
he made some throws in that game and and did
what he needed to do to get them to you know,
get the w man.
Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
And that's what it's about. So you know, but yeah,
overall can't in Kansas City is one simple word. Brazil.
There you go traveling and everything else. Brazil. So you know.
Speaker 1 (01:38:59):
One one other one that I think we haven't really
spoken on, which it may come up, but Detroit Lions
me to go into Chicago this week? What did you
guys think about Detroit and how they look with all
the changes that they made where people were saying that
and again this week one, but what did you guys
think about how they look coming out.
Speaker 3 (01:39:20):
Overall as a team and how they played.
Speaker 2 (01:39:24):
Way money Moe?
Speaker 8 (01:39:26):
I mean I called it before the season.
Speaker 9 (01:39:28):
I mean I looked at Jared Goff's career before he
had McVeigh and before Ben Johnson was Ben Johnson, and
he looked exactly like he did before he played for them.
You know, if Jared Golf isn't in the type of
system that puts in him in advantageous positions, he's the
average till below average quarterback and that's that's where it
started with Detroit. It was the quarterback play. Jared Goff
(01:39:51):
missed some open throws. He wasn't in a rhythm. It
just it starts with him. And I think they are
feeling that Ben Johnson effect. As far as that defense,
they got away for Aidan Hutchison to get healthy, and
you know, I know Aaron Glenn was there, but they
still have some other players. It's just that Aiden Hutchinson's
hurt right now and they don't have a pass rush.
(01:40:12):
But yeah, Ben Johnson is diabolical genius when it comes
to coaching offensive ball. You look at the difference in
Chicago what you saw on Monday night and what you
saw all the last year, and you could feel the
Ben Johnson effect. So that's my opinion about the Lions.
They're gonna miss the coaching on offense and the defense.
Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
It takes a little time, man, and I agree with
you more money. They didn't look good and it started
with the quarterback play. I think the defense still trying
to figure it out. They played against a tough opponent
in the Packers, you know what I mean. So that's
not a team that you can really figure it out
against But the good part about it is they played
(01:40:52):
the Bears this week, and I and I really think
they're gonna beat the shit out the Bears, you know,
even though the Bears looked good for a short period
of time the other night. But I don't have a
lot of confidence in the Chicago Bears. And so I
think that Detroit to get back on track against the Bars,
(01:41:14):
and and and and get prepared to play against us
on Monday night that following week. Men, sir, shoot man,
That's all I got, fellas, so all I got for
another great show man.
Speaker 6 (01:41:35):
Shout out to Jerry Ingram again for for.
Speaker 5 (01:41:40):

don't have somebody a resource like that that you can

and gyms about the about the sport of tennis.
