seen over the years in our five seasons.

Well, just like you said, coach Man, this was just
a dream something that you know, we talked about it
shit at my grandma house really and then we just
manifested it into this. Things that I enjoy the most
is this is like mental therapy. So you get on here,
you talk, you chop it up with brothers and then
you give your opinion about sports and you know, conversations

in general. The changes that have been made, of course
the hosts, I think as the show going on, no
shot to anybody who started, but the host that it
became more even more professional as we you know, kind.

Also, I think the content that was out there when
we first started it was it was crazy because when
we first first started, you gotta think that was when
Kyrie was in Brooklyn.

It just formed all of that and so we had
a lot of debates on those things and the content
has definitely changed now, especially with subject matter experts like yourself,
you know, old doll coach being able to y'all were
in locker room, so you can give us a different
perspective of our things.

I think I started on the show in season three,
I believe, and and it kind of it was crazy
how how it kind of worked out, because you know,
it started out for me as being a guest on
the show.

Fredo was, you know, was the five start general running
running the running the show, and he knew of my
plans of starting starting a podcast, and then he just
hit me up to say, bro, won't you get with
the team? Man, We'll love to have you and ship.
It was just like a perfect fit to a puzzle,

you know what I'm saying, And just just being able
to vibe with you fellas every week and shit, not
just every week every day because we you know, we
on the group chat everything, so this not just the
once once a week think for us, man, we were
in constant communication, you know what I'm saying, talks and
ship to each other.

So I think we definitely.

Built that built that that team, that team built the
atmosphere between all of us, and I just think everybody
fit so well together. Everybody have their own personalities, you

brought his own brought his own personality and style to

of shit together, and we spend a lot of time together.
And the one thing about oh man, I used to
tell him all the time, like, bru, you need your
own you need your own show. Like the knowledge he
be spitting to all our to all our athletes. Man,
the way he interact with people, and so when he
when he shared with me that he was.

Going to be a party, I said, Man, that's perfect

And so then I became a fan following the show
because I was following old and then I met I
had met Uk through you know, through a couple of
family events. But just oh, being on the show me
on his personality, not knowing too much about the group,
and then watching with Fredo had you guys together, man,
So seeing the changes the one thing that I like,

I said, Oh, ain't gonna say a lot about itself,
but his personality man, and the way that he deals
with stuff, and his inside understanding of the sports and
just how he deals with people. Perfect for the show man.
And I love to see him when he gets on here.
He brings the energy and people don't know that's him
all the time, man. And so for me it's a blessing.
Been on here like most here from the beginning. This

is therapy for me, man, because he knows when me
and him were together, Man, it was times when me
and him just needed he would know and I needed
to just vent. I knew when he needed a vent.
So just being able to be on here with him

After a while because everybody wants to be with Nike
at some point and that money spread in. So I was,
I think whatever he's doing with his branding and his sponsorship,
he's maximizing that part.

Still he's still the number two Black American. I mean
he's he just dropped. He just dropped to He was
though twelve before the tournament starts, so it was in
the top twenty. He's still enough still be. So sometimes

the number two Black Americans, So would that be Shelton
be the number one Black American?

And he got hurt. He lost in the third. He
fell and fell on his shoulder. So it was like

and his father he wanted to keep playing, but his
father father cut it so, but but there definitely needs
to be another strong force on his team that makes

the decisions for Francis to get him in a space
where he's not making some of the decisions that he's making.

So with Francis, ti'afo like for me in your opinion, dude,
do you think he's locked in enough? Because I see
Francis on the TV, on the internet. He everywhere, he outside,
you know what I mean, And to me, just from
the outside of looking in, I'm like, I don't think
he's locked in like he should be. Like outside, he

moving around with different celebrities, you know, living his life,
having a great time. But at some point, you know
what I mean, you need to kind of hide from
the limelight and get in the lab, make sure you're
perfecting your game, and make sure you mentally prepared to
go into these big tournaments and finally get over the hump.

I think you don't have to lock in. Differently, I
think he's gonna have to intentionally lock in. I think
some of that stuff he has to do. But there's
a lot of stuff that people are putting on him
that he does not have to do, or he needs
to say no and take a fine, like he's gonna
have to reshape or redesign what's going on. And now

really is the time to do it. Yeah, twenty six
or twenty seven or he's about to be twenty seven.
He needs to do it. He needs to do it
right now. And I think it's an ad. I don't
necessarily know if anybody on his team from what I've
seen from his team is a is a part. It's

like is influencing him. I just don't think. I think
he needs somebody strong in the team that he can't
say no to and they just need to sit down
somewhere until until the person who's leading says, okay, now
it's play time. We get you know, for the balance.

in in tennis, it's with all sports, right money Moowe,

is we have to understand the reason why Lululemon is
sponsoring us is because we are we are winning, and

If we losing in the third round and we losing
the people that we're not supposed to lose to, then
eventually if we're gonna go from Lululemon to something else,

who is on his team that you think or what
if you was to give him some advice shortened to

you want to add.

But what is something that you sat him down and said, look,
before we go.

On this next tournament next year, this is what I
want you to focus on. What is something that you
would tell.

Speaker 11 (16:45):
Well, he needs an h m F I S that's
what he needs more. He needs that. He needs that
and he needs to do whatever that person says. But
he needs he needs to be strategic. Okay, so at
this point you gotta go outside because all the brand

and everything that goes along with that. But it needs
to be a time limit on it. It needs to
be strategic, It needs to be elevated. It don't need
to be it don't need to be need to be
park because he in park. It don't need to be parked.
It don't need it, don't need to be none of that,
none of that. If it's he only should go outside
to get money, and that's it. And that's a lot

right now based on how everybody's moving and all the
stuff they have to do. Yeah, and then you need
to do that for a whole year and then re
evaluating hopefully he'll like it.

Yeah and jar yeah as a question because it's something
me and Oh talked about last week and he's talking tennis,
and he asked a question like, why aren't there more
like premier players or why why aren't there any black

coaches present or being a part of these premier players' camps,
you know, because we don't just don't see them unless
it's unless it's like a parent.

Of one of the players.

Because you see Blake Shelton's dad, I think he coached them,
and then of course mister Williams.

But overall, you really don't see black coaching.

I mean, I'm looking at attendance in front of me
that I mean, you should be in somebody's careful at
least somebody should reached out to you, you know.

Speaker 11 (18:28):
So I have been, they have And that's on a
personal note. My daughter got one more year at Blake
at high school. And so personally I am a USA
team USA coach and it's called a faculty coach, and
what that is That means I coach on US soil.

So I will travel to places in the US and
do stuff. But to get on somebody's team. You gotta
be willing to be on the road like a pro.
So that's thirty to forty weeks a year.

That's my answer. Now, I do think a lot of
black coaches have to catch up. There's some and there's
there's been some push for it, but I can't answer
the overall questions. But they need to catch They need
to catch up, and that's only because they didn't have
the like we have these black players coming through, but

they didn't have the opportunities to get the information, or
they weren't put in places or didn't have the financial
resources to do the training and the years to you know,
make it to learn everything that had to be learned
to be able to coach somebody like that. So you
don't want him to have a bad coach because he's black.

(19:43):
So even the people I'm thinking about to lead the
team for him, there's only one black person that I
could think of, and I don't even know if he
would do it.

I say that and me coming out for a couple
of weeks, and so we might talk again.

somebody got the answers and they done and they have
done it and they got a good genuine soul and
they want to see you. When why I just don't
understand why these kids don't? You know, they so many.

You know, it's not hard, but people make it hard.
It's not hard to do the deal go and the
deals get done with anybody, So that's not it's not hard,
but noted. And because we had this whole conversation about it,
I'm gonna I'm gonna have a real conversation about it

just the only one that I know who will live
that lifestyle.

in the photo with this gentleman. I know this gentleman
since since junior tennis Mala Washington.

Okay, yeah, so let's talk about some other stuff about
the open because of Francis yay, But he's just one person.

So I have a question we transition to the win.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
I think the women, the black women of course, showed
beautifully with Venus Coco, Osaka and Taylor. Can you can
you talk to explain to Osaka Cocoa Golf and miss
Williams and and Taylor Taylor? Okay, So I want to

know as someone who I've watched tennis for a couple
of years, me and my wife sitting and watch religiously.
We were just watching something on TV that's happening now,
but I'm not familiar with all the nuances of the
game and some of the rules and regulations. Can you
explain to just a casual someone who's really getting into
the sport, what what was what was the issue with

Taylor and the young lady that she I know, the outlier,
but what what are some of the things that because
I know she made a comment like there's a lot
of smoking mirrors in tennis. Can you explain what that
means to just someone who's just getting started with the game.
Because I always thought of tennis as the gentlemen and woman,
you know, generally sport. But you see that there's always

something happening, you know, when these when you get some
of these you know.

Competitions or rivalries that you see over and over again.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Because these these what I what I have learned is
these athletes play a lot of tennis. It's not just
what we see. They're playing back to back, day day
after day. So can you can you explain some of
that to us?

Speaker 11 (23:29):
So what what she was saying when she said smoking mirrors?
And I was actually at that match when when when
she was saying smoking mirrors. If you know the rules
of the game, which everyone does by that point, you
can manipulate them, right. So Taylor, the first set was closed,

the second set wasn't closed. She took a bat, she
took a change of clothes, break, which was fine, you
can do it. That's a whole go into the locker room,
the court. They were on the locker room was like
a seven minute walk right, and you get you done,
somebody goes with you, nobody from your team, and then
you go and you get three minutes and then you

got walked back. So that was like a fifteen minute break.
Then she did an injury time out. She said she
needed to get her blood pressure checked, right, So I
mean maybe she does, maybe she doesn't. Look we don't
even know when our blood pressure is how walking around
on the daily base, so she stays blood got So

there was that. Then she was like doing a lot
of questioning of calls and changing balls, all things that
are legal actually, but it just all she was trying
to throw off Taylor's rhythm. Maybe Taylor started thinking too
much out on the court too long, whatever the case
may be. Osta Pinko was ranked twenty four, Taylor was

like one forty in singles going in there, so anything
could have went in Taylor's head at that moment. She
might not have believed she was doing with anything. You know,
she could have been in the zone. She was just
trying to get her out of the zone basically. And
then I was watching the match, I saw all of that,

but I also know it's all legal. Unlike some other
things that I've seen that people have done with major
stars have done that are illegal and they let us fine,
But what she was doing was legal, okay. And they
shook hands and I'm actually getting my stuff to go
to another match, and all of a sudden I had

to turn around. I'm like, what's going on? Because Taylor
all the stuff she said, Taylor was doing Taylor and
doing nothing. Now, let me tell you what you couldn't see.
Every black person on the US Open grounds was at
that match, and everybody was there. Anybody that they thought

they needed to help get through by making the home
court advantage, they were there, and there were the Divine
nine was in the house and she's not greet. They
were in the house and they were doing all the
dogs AKA. Everybody was doing that, and Pinga was losing
her mind and Eyla wasn't doing nothing. But it's changeover,

which is which is free reign. They were making all
their noises and they were also singing Alicia Keys, this
girl is on fire, okay, because she had fire on
her skirt. That's her, that's her line. And she could
not handle the crowd. The crowd. The crowd was killing her.
Mentally and then she took it out on tailor. So

that's what happened with that. Now that's kind of extreme,
but it was nothing about it was illegal, yep.

And just and just to kind of kind of be
clear on that.

So one of the things that was said in a
kind of go back to when you were talking about
doing anything to get into the head of Taylor. I
remember when they showed the Venus Williams Special. That was

the case, right, The coaches haven't always been sitting in
the boxes that they're sitting in now.

It used to be the players will be out there

earshot of the players. Has that always been the case
or is that something that's been always there.

It's just that some tournaments don't have boxes, got you.
So it depends on the stadium. Got Technically they're an earshot,
but with the crowd and everything, they can't really if
they know what those people are saying, they give me signals, Gotcha,
they can't really hear him. I mean, I guess you can't. Really,
you can't really. If you can hear him, that means

did the seventy fifth anniversary of ALTHEA. Gibson winning it,
so she was everywhere on every changeover. They were spiraling
her for three weeks. They had all these exhibits, They

you have defenders that are coming from different schools and

like college coaches, they can put certain players in certain
schemes to match up. And then so now when you
have a freshman quarterback, they're you know, the way that
they're processing the game. It looks like a rookie quarterback
in the NFL. So some of these freshmen that didn't

in college is just different. With these schools being able

to handpick their talent. So, and I mean, if you're
going to bring in a ten million dollar quarterback, if
you Michigan, you got to you gotta figure out the
system for them. It can't be the same old saying.

some of the quarterback play was terrible because the defenses

started with Detroit. It was the quarterback play. Jared Goff

missed some open throws. He wasn't in a rhythm. It
just it starts with him. And I think they are
feeling that Ben Johnson effect. As far as that defense,
they got away for Aidan Hutchison to get healthy, and
you know, I know Aaron Glenn was there, but they
still have some other players. It's just that Aiden Hutchinson's
hurt right now and they don't have a pass rush.

But yeah, Ben Johnson is diabolical genius when it comes
to coaching offensive ball. You look at the difference in
Chicago what you saw on Monday night and what you
saw all the last year, and you could feel the
Ben Johnson effect. So that's my opinion about the Lions.
They're gonna miss the coaching on offense and the defense.
