As he entered college, Steven was looking for a major that would both challenge him and set him on a path toward a fruitful career. He interned in corporate finance and as an equity research analyst before determining that consulting was the collaborative, team based environment in which he would thrive. He learned that succeeding isn’t the same as thriving, however, and was always taking stock of where he was and, more importantly, where else he might go. Inertia is often what keeps us in a perfectly good place instead of seeking out the next great thing. Ultimately, he jumped to direct to consumer retail, even changing jobs in the middle of a pandemic. Whether he’s selling cowboy boots or soft kitchen goods (and Covid masks), he makes sure to surround himself with good people and trusts that his education and training will continue to serve him well in any environment.
