Here's something that mightsound familiar.
You set big, exciting goals foryour business, but three months
later, you're barely any closerto achieving them.
Maybe it's launching thatcourse, building that email
list, or finally systematizingyour operations.
You started with enthusiasm,but.
Somewhere along the way, yourgoal got buried under daily

(00:21):
fires, other demands, and justthe general chaos of running a
business.
Does this sound like you?
You are not alone and you arenot broken.
You're just using the wrongplanning system.
Hi, I'm Cindy Gordon, thecreator of the Reality Check
Method, and a business coach foroverwhelmed entrepreneurs.
I've built and sold multipledigital businesses, and I have

(00:44):
coached women through this exactchallenge you're facing right
now.
Here's what I've learned.
Big goals need small timeframesinstead of trying to maintain
motivation for months.
What if you could hit majormilestones by focusing intensely
for just one week at a time?
Here's what's probably happeningto your goal achievement.

(01:05):
You set ambitious targets withlong timelines, and somewhere
around week three, life takesover emergencies arise.
Family needs attention, andsuddenly the big goal gets
pushed to when things calm down, which, let's be honest, never
really happens in life.
Traditional goal setting asksyou to maintain consistent

(01:27):
motivation and focus overmonths, but that's not realistic
when you're wearing.
17 different hats in yourbusiness.
You end up feeling guilty aboutlack of follow through, when
really the system you're usingisn't designed for the reality
of entrepreneurial life.
I see this pattern constantly.
You're not lacking discipline orcommitment.

(01:49):
You're trying to use long-termgoal systems in a short term
attention world between clientdemands, family
responsibilities, and thenatural ebb and flow of
motivation.
Maintaining focus on distantgoals becomes almost impossible.
Here's something fascinatingfrom behavioral science.
Our brains are wired forimmediate results and short-term

(02:10):
thinking.
When goals feel distant, theydon't trigger the same urgency
and focus as immediatedeadlines.
This is why we can procrastinateon important projects for
months, but pull all-nighters tomeet tomorrow's deadline.
Research shows that only 8% ofpeople achieve their annual
goals, but shorter focus periodsdramatically improve success

(02:32):
rates.
Your brain needs whatpsychologists call temporal
landmarks.
These are clear start and endpoints that create urgency and
focus.
Add that to that entrepreneurreality.
Your attention gets pulled inmultiple directions daily.
A goal that seemed crystal clearin January can feel completely
irrelevant by March when marketconditions change or new

(02:55):
opportunities arise.
The longer the timeframe, themore likely you are to lose
momentum, get distracted, orsimply forget why the goal
mattered in the first place.
The key is understanding thatsprint planning creates focus
through artificial scarcity.
When you only have one week tomake meaningful progress,
everything else becomes lessimportant, and you naturally

(03:16):
prioritize what moves theneedle.
Here's how to hit some big goalsusing the weekly sprint idea.
Take your big goal and askyourself, what would meaningful
progress look like if I only hadone week to work on it?
Don't think about completing theentire goal.
Think about creating momentumthat builds week after week.
For example, instead of launchmy course, your weekly sprint

(03:39):
might be create the outline andrecord the first module.
This shift from completionthinking to progress thinking is
critical for sustainablemomentum.
Next, you're gonna choose onegoal per week, not three or
five.
The Power of Sprint methodologycomes from a singular focus when
everything else becomessecondary to your weekly

(04:01):
objective.
Write your sprint goal as aspecific measurable outcome that
you can achieve within fiveworking days.
This becomes your filter forevery decision.
Does this activity move metoward my weekly sprint goal or
away from it?
Next, you're going to create asprint commitment ritual.
Every Monday morning, make aformal commitment to your weekly

(04:24):
sprint goal.
Write it down.
Tell someone about it, even postit where it is visible.
The commitment aspect iscritical because it creates
accountability and signals toyour brain that this week is
different from all the otherweeks when goals got pushed
aside for urgent tasks.
So let me give you some morepractical steps to make this

(04:44):
work in your real life.
First, start each week byidentifying your sprint backlog.
These specific tasks will moveyou forward towards your weekly
goal.
Keep a short list, keep itfocused.
Typically, three to five keyactivities that will contribute
to your sprint objective.
Next, protect your sprint timelike you would protect client

(05:05):
time.
Block specific hours in yourcalendar for sprint work, and
treat these blocks asnon-negotiable appointments for
your business growth.
When other urgent requests comeup, ask yourself, is this more
important than the goal Icommitted to achieving this
week?
And finally, do a brief sprintreview every Friday, ask
yourself, did I achieve mysprint goal?

(05:27):
What worked well?
What got in the way?
What would I do differently nextweek?
This reflection helps youimprove your sprint planning
over time and builds the habitof weekly goal achievement,
here's what I want you toremember today.
You don't need more willpower, better time management, or fewer
responsibilities to achieve yourbig business goals.

(05:48):
You need a system that workswith your reality instead of
against it.
Weekly sprints.
Honor both your ambition andyour attentions.
Span.
Big goals still matter, but theydon't need to be achieved.
Through months of sustainedfocus, they can be achieved
through weeks of intentionalprogress.
When you break ambitiousobjectives into weekly sprints,

(06:09):
you create a sustainable rhythmof achievement that builds
momentum instead of burnout, your business dreams deserve
better than sitting on Sundaylist.
Or getting buried under dailyurgencies.
They deserve the focusedattention that weekly sprints
provide.
This sprint based approach togoal achievement is important
because when you align your goalsetting with your natural work

(06:32):
rhythm, everything becomesachievable and sustainable.
