(00:00):
let's talk about the BlackFriday Madness for a second.
Everywhere you look right now, discounts bundles, limited
offers, countdown timers,urgency everywhere.
Listen, I love a good deal asmuch as anyone, but before you
open up your wallet thisweekend, I want you to hit pause
and ask yourself one simplequestion, have you shopped your
(00:21):
own business first?
Because the truth is, mostentrepreneurs don't need another
course, another system, or ashiny new thing.
They actually need to use whatthey already have.
I'm Cindy Gordon and you arelistening to The Overwhelmed
Entrepreneur Podcast.
Before we dive in, if you arenot on my email list yet, where
I share weekly productivity andbusiness mindset tips.
(00:43):
Link in the show notes to join1500 other entrepreneurs who
receive my weekly newsletter.
Today I am sharing a mindsetshift that helped me stop
chasing new solutions and startmaximizing what I already own.
So let's be honest, black Fridaycan mess.
With your head, you start theday just looking around, and by
(01:03):
noon you've convinced yourselfthat five new tools and three
new courses are missing piecesthat will finally fix everything
in your business.
This is a recurring theme that Isee year after year.
My clients tell me that theykeep buying courses, templates,
and systems, but nothing sticks.
Not because the products arebad, but because they're already
(01:24):
overwhelmed with what theyhaven't finished yet.
The reality check is youprobably already own gold that
you're not using.
You got a half finished templatesitting on your drive.
You've got systems that workedonce but got forgotten.
You have ideas that were neverfully launched because life got
busy.
That's the problem.
(01:44):
Not that you don't have enough,it's that you haven't leveraged
what you've already invested in.
We chase novelty because itfeels like progress.
Buying something new gives you alittle dopamine hit that says
I'm doing something.
It tricks your brain intobelieving that you are moving
forward even if you haven'timplemented the last thing that
you bought.
(02:05):
It's not a flaw, it's justsimple psychology.
Our brains are wired to seek newinformation and new solutions.
That's why Black Fridaymarketing works so well.
It triggers that novelty seekingbehavior and adds urgency on top
of it.
If you're constantly buying newsolutions without maximizing old
ones, you are renting progressinstead of building it.
(02:28):
You feel busy and productivebecause you're learning and
buying, but your businessactually isn't growing because
nothing gets fully implemented.
The truth is simpler here.
You don't need more stuff.
You need to use what you have.
I feel like I sound like mymother here, but it's true.
This is in life and in business.
(02:48):
So before you go spend money onanyone else's Black Friday deal,
I want you to take 30 minutesand do what I call a shop your
own business.
First, I want you to takeinventory of your digital
closet.
Go through every tool templatecourse or coaching program that
you've purchased.
Ask yourself three questions.
What have I actually finished?
(03:10):
What still has value that Icould revisit?
Could I reuse, repurpose, relaunch this month?
You'd be amazed at how muchpotential you actually have just
sitting right there.
Then you need to reactivate whatworks.
Dust off the good stuff.
Maybe you've got an old leadmagnet that still gets
downloads.
Update it and repromote it.
(03:31):
Maybe you wrote a killer emailsequence last year, tweak the
dates and rerun it.
Maybe your system worked fineuntil you got distracted.
Bring that back up again.
You don't need to start fromscratch.
You just need to start again.
I want you to investintentionally.
Once you've done your inventory, then decide what you actually
need.
(03:52):
Ask yourself, will this fill areal gap, or is it just feeding
my fomo?
If it aligns with your goals forthe new year, great.
If it doesn't close that tab andkeep your focus on execution,
this isn't missing out.
This is maturing as a CEO.
Let me show you how to actuallyshop your own business on Black
(04:13):
Friday.
Let's get real specific.
Let's do it now together.
Set a 30 minute timer right nowbefore you go by anything this
weekend, spend those 30 minutesauditing what you have.
Open your Google Drive.
Log into those courses.
Look at your unused tools.
Make a list of what's sittingthere, just waiting to be used.
(04:36):
Then pick one thing to finishbefore you buy a new thing.
Just one.
Maybe it's that course youbought last year.
Maybe it's the template youdownloaded but never customized.
Maybe it's the system youstarted, but abandoned it.
Commit to finishing one thingbefore adding something new.
Then.
Create a Black Friday wait list.
(04:57):
Not a wishlist, but a wait listfor anything that catches your
eye.
Don't buy it immediately.
Write it down.
Give yourself 48 hours if youstill want it.
After you've shopped your ownbusiness and it truly fills a
gap, then consider it.
Chances are, once the urgencywears off, you'll realize that
you actually don't need it.
(05:18):
If you take one thing away fromour conversation today, I want
it to be that you are probablyalready sitting on the exact
thing that you're searching for.
Your next big win might not bein someone else's Black Friday
sale.
It might be in the resources youalready invested in but haven't
fully used.
So before you swipe that creditcard this weekend, remember
(05:39):
this.
Invest in yourself, not yourimpulses.
Shop your business first.
You have worked too hard toforget how much value you've
already built.
So here is your quick BlackFriday action plan.
Spend 30 minutes auditing whatyou own.
Pick one thing to finish beforeyou add anything new.
