(00:00):
Let me tell you about the momentI realized that hustle culture
completely lied to me.
I was tracking my actual hoursthat I worked, and then I
discovered how much I was makingan hour after all of the unpaid
admin, marketing, clientmanagement.
Meanwhile, a colleague whoworked half my hours was making
(00:20):
three times my revenue.
The difference.
She had systems and I hadhustle.
The truth that took me way toolong to learn is millionaires
don't necessarily work harderthan you.
They work differently than you.
They build systems that createwealth, not schedules that
create exhaustion.
Hi, I'm Cindy Gordon and you arelistening to The Overwhelmed
(00:43):
Entrepreneur.
Today.
Inspired by Rachel Rogersrevolutionary approach to wealth
building.
We are dismantling the hustlemyth and revealing that systems
actually build wealth even whenyou're sleeping, spending time
with your family, or taking areal vacation.
So here's the lie that we havebeen sold, especially as women
(01:03):
entrepreneurs work harder, hustle more, sleep less, and
eventually you'll be successful.
But let me reality check thisfor you.
If hard work alone createdwealth, then every single mom
working three jobs would be amillionaire by now.
Every entrepreneur pulling 80hour weeks would be filthy rich,
(01:24):
but they're not.
Because wealth isn't abouttrading time for money.
It's about creating systems thatgenerate money through constant
presence.
I've been deep diving into howwealthy entrepreneurs operate
versus how we think theyoperate, and the difference is
staggering.
They're not necessarily hustlingharder.
They are building smarter.
(01:46):
If you think about it.
There are only 24 hours in aday, and if you are trading time
for money, your income isliterally capped by physics.
But systems, systems have noceiling let me share what
happened when I audited mybusiness versus my client,
Lisa's business.
We both started around the sametime.
We both had similar skill sets, but our approaches were
(02:09):
completely different back then.
My approach was more like ahustle model.
Custom everything for everyclient personally handling all
the client communication, reinventing the wheel for every
single project being available24 7, saying yes to everything
to quote, build momentum.
(02:29):
Does that sound familiar toanyone?
My friend Lisa.
Her approach was more like asystems model, so she had
templated offerings with clearboundaries, automated onboarding
and communication, repeatableprocesses for everything.
She did have office hours, buthad a response time that had
boundaries.
(02:49):
She said no to things that wereoutside her system.
A few years later.
I was burned out and she wasthriving.
Her income was a three x mine.
Same market, same skills, completely different approach.
So here's the wealthy equationthat nobody talks about, and
this really resonated when Iexplored Rachel Rogers approach
(03:12):
to building a million dollarbusiness.
Wealth equals value timessystems, times reach.
Not ours, not effort, nothustle.
When you have a system thatdelivers value to multiple
people without requiring yourphysical presence, you've broken
that time for money trap, andthat's how wealth is actually
built.
(03:33):
But here's what we often doinstead, we create jobs for
ourselves.
We become the highest paidemployee in our own businesses,
but we're still just anemployee.
We're trading time for moneyjust with more stress and no
benefits.
After studying wealthyentrepreneurs and testing this
in my own business throughoutthe years, here are five systems
(03:57):
that actually build wealth.
Number one, the value laddersystem.
So instead of creatingeverything, create a clear path
from low ticket to high ticket, each level builds on the last,
once built, it runs by itself.
The next system is the automatedsales system.
Stop having discovery calls foreverything.
(04:19):
Create content that sells, funnels that convert and let
people buy without you beingthere.
The next system is a deliverysystem, whether it's courses,
templates, or services.
Standardize delivery.
My growth collective runs thesame way every week, whether I'm
there or not.
There's a system.
The next system is called theboundary system.
(04:41):
Office hours, response times, project scopes, all
systematized.
Not because you're mean, butbecause boundaries create
sustainability.
The last system is the leveragesystem.
This is where wealth multipliesusing other people's time, other
people's expertise, and otherpeople's platforms to expand
(05:01):
your reach without expandingyour hours.
Let me get real about mytransformation from Hustle to
Systems.
About three years ago, I was anentrepreneur who thought being
busy meant being successful.
I wore exhaustion, like a badgeof honor.
I'm so busy was practically mycatch phrase.
And once I implemented onesystem, literally just one, I
(05:24):
created a standard onboardingsequence for new people into my
world.
So automated emails, a welcomepacket, scheduled check-ins, it
saved me literally five hoursper new person into my
ecosystem.
And that's when it clicked.
If one system could save me fivehours, what could five systems
(05:44):
do or 10 systems?
Now I have systems for literallyeverything.
Think content creation, batchedand templated.
Client delivery.
Standardized but valuable sales.
Automated funnels working 24 7.
Communication.
I have boundaries and templates,growth.
I'm leveraging other platformsand people.
(06:05):
Since then, my revenue hasdoubled and my hours have
halved.
And for the first time, I tookan actual vacation where I left
my laptop at home.
Yes, true story.
That was just a couple of weeksago at Thanksgiving 2025.
The biggest barrier to buildingwealth, creating system is our
mindset.
We have been programmed tobelieve that our value equals
(06:26):
effort, and that if we're notexhausted, we are not working
hard enough.
But wealthy people, they thinkdifferently.
They ask, how can I solve thisonce and sell it repeatedly?
How can I help more peoplewithout working more hours?
What would this look like if itwere easy?
How can I remove myself fromthis process?
(06:48):
That last one is crucial, especially if you're looking to
exit your business anytime soon.
Every time you do something inyour business, ask yourself, how
can I systematize this so Inever have to do it again?
This isn't about being lazy,it's about being strategic.
It's about understanding thatyour highest value isn't in
doing everything.
It's creating systems thatmultiply your impact.
(07:11):
Here's what nobody tells youabout.
Systems.
They compound while hustle givesyou linear growth.
More hours equals more money.
Systems create exponentialgrowth.
For example, month one, yoursystem serves 10 people, month
six.
Same system serves a hundredpeople.
Month 12.
Same system serves a thousandpeople.
(07:32):
Your effort stays the same.
Your income multiplies.
This is exactly what's happeningin my email community right now.
Over 1500 entrepreneurs gettingvalue from the systems I created
once.
Link in the show notes.
If you ever want to experiencewhat systematized value delivery
looks like, we'd love to haveyou in our community.
(07:52):
But here's where the real magicis.
Systems create time, and timecreates opportunity for more
systems.
It's a wealth building spiralthat hustle can never create..
So how do you actually startbuilding these systems?
Here is your practical roadmap.
Step one, document everythingfor one week.
(08:13):
Write down everything you do,every task, every process, every
repeated action.
You can't systematize what youdon't acknowledge.
The next step is identifyrepetition.
So highlight everything you domore than once.
These are your systemopportunities.
Start with the most frequentrepeated tasks.
(08:34):
The next step is to create onesystem.
Pick your most repeated task andcreate a system for it.
So, I mean, template it,automate it, delegate it, or
batch it.
Get it out of your daily hustle.
The next step is to measureimpact.
Track how much time you saved.
Calculate the value, thenreinvest that time into building
(08:54):
your next system.
This is exactly how we approachit inside the Growth Collective
one system at a time.
Compounding results, here's whatI need you to understand.
Choosing systems over hustleisn't giving up.
It's growing up.
It's evolving.
From entrepreneur to CEO, youhave permission to say no.
In order to maintain yoursystems, you can standardize
(09:18):
without guilt.
You can charge prices forsystemized value.
You can take time off while yourbusiness runs.
The hustle culture tells youthis is lazy, but wealthy people
know it's intelligent.
They know that burning outserves no one, and that
sustainable wealth is built onsustainable systems.
Every six figure plusentrepreneur that I know has a
(09:40):
system that works while theysleep, not because they're lazy,
but because they understand thatwealth is built by
multiplication, not addition.
So this week my challenge foryou is to identify three tasks
that you do repeatedly.
Choose one of them tosystematize, document the
process and create a templateautomation or delegation plan.
(10:02):
And if this resonated with you,I would love for you to take
action first.
