(00:00):
when everything feels urgent inyour business.
That's actually the first cluethat nothing really is the
reason you can't figure out whatto focus on isn't because you
have too many important tasks.
It's because you've lost theability to distinguish between
real urgency and manufactureddrama.
Hi, I'm Cindy Gordon, thecreator of the Reality Check

(00:20):
Method, and a business coach forOverwhelmed Entrepreneurs.
This is a bonus episode of TheOverwhelmed Entrepreneur and
welcome to day one of theOverwhelm to Action Week
designed to take you through thecomplete process of the reality
Check method transformation.
And today we're diving into oneof the most common questions I
hear from business owners.

(00:41):
That's, how do I know what tofocus on when literally
everything.
Feels urgent.
By the end of this week, you'llhave a complete roadmap from
overwhelmed and stuck to clearand moving forward.
Here's what happens to overwhelmentrepreneurs.
Every single day you wake up,you check your phone, and you
immediately feel that familiarknot in your stomach.

(01:04):
17 urgent emails, three.
ASAP Client requests a marketingcampaign that needs to be
launched today and a dozenother.
Tasks that all somehow becametop priority overnight.
This isn't just bad luck or poorplanning.
You are experiencing what I callthe false urgency epidemic.
Most business owners operate ina state of constant manufactured

(01:27):
crisis where every email feelslike it needs an immediate
response.
Every opportunity feels like itwill disappear if you don't act
right now.
And every problem feels like itcould destroy your business, but
here's the reality check thatyou need.
When everything feels urgent,it's usually because nothing
actually is, you're addicted tothe adrenaline rush of the

(01:49):
crisis management, and yourbrain is interpreting busy as
productive and stressed asimportant.
The solution isn't to workfaster.
Or multitask better.
The solution is to reality checkwhat deserves your focus and
what's just noise masqueradingas importance.
This framework has become mysecond nature in my daily

(02:11):
routine because it cuts throughthe false urgency that paralyzes
so many entrepreneurs.
Here's how to filter whatactually matters using three
simple reality checks.
The first is a 24 hour realitycheck rule.
When everything feels urgent, ask yourself what actually
happens if this waits for 24hours, so not what your anxious

(02:33):
brain imagines might happen, butwhat actually will happen?
Most tasks that feel urgent canwait at least 24 hours without
any real consequences.
The second is the revenuereality check.
When you can't decide what tofocus on, follow the money.
Ask yourself, does this directlygenerate revenue, save money, or

(02:55):
prevent significant financialloss within the next 30 days?
If the answer is no, then it'sactually not urgent.
It just feels that way.
Third is the momentum check.
Some tasks aren't urgent ordirectly revenue generating, but
they create momentum towardsyour bigger goals.
Ask yourself, does this move memeasurably closer to my

(03:18):
quarterly goal?
If yes, then it's focus time.
If no, then it goes on yoursomeday list.
Let me give you the simple focushierarchy that actually works
when everything feels urgent.
Most of what feels urgent fallsinto three categories.
We have true emergencies.
These are actual serious clientproblems, system failures, or

(03:41):
genuine deadlines.
This is usually only one or twoitems on your entire list.
We also have revenue activities.
So this would be following up onleads, delivering client work,
getting paid.
These directly impact yourbottom line.
And finally we have theeverything else category here.
You find emails that feelurgent, but can wait.

(04:03):
We have opportunities with madeup deadlines, busy work that
doesn't actually move yourbusiness forward.
Here's your simple daily actionplan.
Each morning, ask yourself, what's one thing that's either a
genuine emergency or directlybrings in money?
Do that first.
Everything else can wait untilthat one thing is done.

(04:26):
Here's what I want you toremember today.
When everything feels urgent inyour business, that's exactly
when you need to slow down andreality check what's actually
deserving your focus the most.
You don't need to respond toevery urgent request
immediately.
You don't need to treat everyopportunity like it's.
Disappearing tomorrow.
What you need is clarity aboutwhat actually moves your

(04:48):
business forward versus whatjust makes you feel busy.
When you reality check yoururgency and focus on what truly
matters, you stop being a victimof false emergencies and start
being the strategic entrepreneurthat your business needs.
This focus system is exactlywhat I help entrepreneurs
develop through my reality checkmethod and my one-to-one

(05:10):
coaching.
And in my Growth CollectiveMastermind, I do this because
when you can distinguish betweenreal urgency and manufacture
drama, you finally have thespace to build instead of just
survive.
And remember, you've got this, but sometimes you just need to
figure out what this actuallyis.

(05:31):
Thanks for spending these fewminutes with me today.
Remember, overwhelm isn'tpermanent.
It's simply your brain's way ofsaying pause and take a little
reality check.
If this was helpful, you'll lovemy weekly email tips where I
share the systems that keep meand hundreds of other
entrepreneurs on Track Link inthe show notes.
If you got value in today'sepisode, please share it with

(05:53):
another entrepreneur who needsthat reminder.
If you're loving the show, I'dbe so grateful if you could
leave me a quick review.
