    In this episode of the Palestine Podcast, Al-Shabaka analysts Tareq Baconi and Ibrahim Fraihat join host Nur Arafeh to weigh in on the historical understanding of normalization, implications of Israel’s agreements with the UAE and Bahrain, and other normalization developments across the region, and ways forward for Palestinians in light of these changing dynamics. 

    About the speakers

    Tareq Baconi served as Al-Shabaka’s US Policy Fellow from 2016 – 2017. He is currently the Israel/Palestine and Economics of Conflict Analyst at the International Crisis Group. His book, Hamas Contained: The Rise and Pacification of Palestinian Resistance, was published by Stanford University Press.

    Ibrahim Fraihat is a professor of international conflict resolution at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, and Affiliate Scholar at Georgetown University. He previously served as Senior Foreign Policy Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and taught international conflict resolution at George Washington University and George Mason University. His latest book is Unfinished Revolutions: Yemen, Libya, and Tunisia after the Arab Spring​ (Yale University Press, 2016).

    Nur Arafeh is conducting her PhD in Economic Development at the University of Oxford. She previously served as Al-Shabaka’s Palestine Policy Fellow from 2015 – 2017.
