The sky has always told stories and in ancient China, four mythical beasts ruled the heavens. This episode uncovers the origins and legends of the Four Symbols: the wise Azure Dragon, fiery Vermilion Bird, fearless White Tiger, and steadfast Black Tortoise. Join us as we unravel where these cosmic mascots came from, what they symbolized, and why ancient people trusted them.
The 1600s were wild, but France took things to a whole new level with The Affair of the Poisons, a scandal packed with fortune-tellers, cursed powders, secret love affairs, and enough arsenic to make an entire monarchy sweat. This week, we dive into the darkly hilarious and genuinely unhinged story of a poison panic that rocked Louis XIV’s court and turned Paris into a crime scene.
WE ARE BACK! We decided to focus on a topic from America today. Mental health has come a long way (thank God). America once decided the best way to handle big feelings was… well… sticking a metal rod into someone’s brain. In this episode, we dive into the wild, chaotic, absolutely unhinged era of American lobotomies- complete with door-to-door brain surgeons, ice-pick innovations no one asked for, and the medical tren...

Speaking of summer, have you ever gotten excited when hearing the ice cream man turn the corner? We did too until we heard about this case. The Glasgow Ice Cream Wars was not a fun baking show. Instead, it was led by gangs and violence. What happens when you try to make...

Jamie and Kiley are obsessed with The Sims franchise! They have been playing the games for a few years and find themselves bringing it up in conversation often. The history is interesting as the landscape of video games was changing. The creator wanted to focus more on having a game that isn't a competition and doesn't have an end goal. Rather, the player is in charge and playing the role of "God."...
Jamie talks about the life of multi-talented artist, da Vinci. He was a painter, architect, scientist, and so much more. He sure knew how to keep himself busy!

Taylor Swift's new album inspired Kiley to dive into the life of Clara Bow. Old Hollywood stories are always wild and full of drama but Clara's life is absolutely heartbreaking. She had a terrible home life and her experience in Hollywood was not always positive. Her name needs to be known for the incredible talent she had and the legacy she left for future stars.

Today is a sad one that can be really hard to listen to. Please be advised there is violence, abuse, and other mature themes.
From April 9-17th of 1942, prisoners of war were forced to march through harsh tropical conditions. So many men died.

For this Women's History Month we are talking about the legendary Amelia Earhart. She broke so many records in aviation and challenged herself over and over to fly over different areas. One thing she is highly known for is her disappearance. Where did her plane end up? Did she get eaten by coconut crabs? Bermuda Triangle? So many questions.

It has been a minute since we last discussed a human. So today we are talking all about Roald Dahl. Before he was a children's author, he wrote many stories for adults. He has quite the story and what makes him unique is he never planned on being an author. He loved exploring the world and eating chocolate.

We have not done a mythology episode in a while so we are bringing you one of our favorite tragedies, Orpheus and Eurydice. We are huge fans of the Hadestown musical so this was a super fun one for us! Orpheus was a poor young boy who loved music and loved Eurydice even more. Eurydice loved him so much and challenged him to trust her. Their story ended in pure tragedy...and lots of limbs everywhere.
