With everyone throwing hard nowadays, command is now the separator.It’s no longer a choice between being either a power pitcher or a finesse pitcher today. You need to be both, velocity with command. Command is what separates pitchers from the pack today.
Scott has had a great career in baseball as a pitcher starting in 1981 when he earned National HS Player of the Year , and then All American in 1983 and 1984 with the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He was also a member of the 1984 US Olympic baseball team that won a silver medal.
He was drafted in the 1st round in 1984 by the Royals, and after only 31 games in the minors, was called up to the big leagues. He then spent 10 years pitching in the MLB for the Royals, Mariners, Reds, Red Sox, Yankees, and A’s.
He then spent 4 years as a pitching coach for the USA Baseball 18U national team. and served as the HEAD PITCHING COACH for the 2018 Pan Am Games in Panama and the 2019 World Cup in South Korea.
He is also a member of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and the North Carolina American Legion Hall of Fame, and currently the owner of one of the best baseball academies in the country, North Carolina Baseball Academy in Greensboro North Carolina.
