Show Notes:
Thank you so much for listening to my chat with Karlla, and Karlla, thank you so much for sharing your life and career journey with us on the playground.
Here are my take aways from our chat:
Karlla grew up in a small village surrounded by a dam in South West Brazil; a very unique situation. She loved her childhood where the social club was her social network and the streets were the web – kind of like her version of the internet!
She developed her soft skills in school, where she loved singing and playing guitar for her local community.
Although she dreamed about becoming a musician, she also realized the need to move to a bigger city. She was confused, and had to grow up very quickly when she and her siblings moved to a much bigger city. Growing up in Brazil, she knew that university was the path she needed to take.
Her parents wanted her to become an engineer, a lawyer or a doctor. Karlla wanted to avoid conflicts, so she researched different career options. She wanted to become an architect to help people achieve their dreams of home ownership.
Helping people has been a consistent thread throughout her career, and life. She needs to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
As a professional business and executive coach, she focuses on helping others to establish a road map to further develop their careers.
Karlla describes her life and career as tough, challenging and wonderful where everything is possible. She is a planner, and when plan A does not work out, she always has plan B, C, D and E at the ready.
She is always looking for ways to increase her knowledge and is most definitely a life-long learner. She created a plan to move to Canada – she improved her level of English, saved money and organized a budget. The rest, as they say, is history.
When asked what she is most proud of, she immediately replied for making a difference to the community in northern Brazil, and for improving the lives of many people.
What brings her joy? Deep relationships, singing, playing guitar, reading a great book and enjoying coffee with friends.
So that’s Karlla – she is all about sharing her knowledge and experience to help other people make a positive difference in their own lives. She is people-oriented, but with exceptional project management skills as well.
Her words of inspiration – dream, believe, plan, act. Visualize your journey. Explore your talents. Pivot! Invest in people and creativity. Be flexible. Adjust. Go for your life and be happy.
Create a road map – what kind of life do you want?
I feel so lucky to have met Karlla and am looking forward to learning more about the next step in her career journey.
Thank you for your commitment to others – World Skills and BRINCA. You continue to make a difference in so many people’s lives.
