(00:14):
We're back. That's right, we'reback. I know it's been a long,
lonely, quiet few weeks from thepodcast Club Gang's back. We're back.
I hope you enjoyed the silence whilethe last Yeah, and that was
our gift to you, going frankly, you're welcome. It's actually a Canadian
(00:35):
Thanksgiving, so there, there yougo. None of us are Canadian,
but that's our gift to you.We celebrate. It's any opportunity to give
thanks that's an eat turkey. Yeah, I don't know if they eat turkey.
Chairs of that. I think theydo. I saw I saw a
Canadian friend post about turkey, soI'll take his word for it. That's
good. So what's up y'all.Man, it's good to be back.
(00:57):
It's good to see how his faces. Yes back, Yes, back.
It's been too long. I've missedseen and just spending time with you guys.
Yeah, me too, man,it's been a you know, it's
been a rough you know month orso right, you know, life,
pandemic, death taxes, all ofit, all of it, cheers,
(01:22):
hair loss, losing all my hair, whatever. Man, pretty soon I'm
gonna be that super cool bald checkon the podcast club. We look,
we'll see. So this is ironicbecause Marcus and I will soon share more
than just a birthday, share ahairstyle too. Yeah, he can't wait.
(01:42):
Yeah, but exciting things are happeningtoo, for sure, So many
exciting things. Actually, let's jumpinto it. Let's jump into it.
Let's catch up on the world. What's up, what's the latest? Well,
you know, all kinds of coolstuff is actually happening in the podcasting
world. So it's interesting to seea lot of innovation. I did notice
that Brian Barletta is now offering hispodcast in Spanish through some new act that
(02:05):
converts content into different languages. Soactual audio. Yes, yes, it's
a robot. It's a robot.Yes, shit man, and be like,
oh la, I'm super curious toknow if it's going to have like
a good accent, Like you know, he sent me a file and it
(02:25):
actually sounds really it sounds like him, and it sounds almost human like,
it sounds eerily like. If hehadn't told me if it was a robot,
I would have been like, hesounds kind of robotish, but it's
not like what you think of islike the robot voice it actually his voice.
Yeah, they like sampled his voiceand then input the text in Spanish
(02:50):
and it and it just spits outaudio that sounds like it has intonations.
And came several questions about this.Okay, yes, me too. Maybe
it's better sir for Brian bar Lettup because it is all pontification at this
point. But does it get thetranslation right? Like is it conversational Spanish
or is it going to do likeGoogle translates and like do you wrong and
like tell you that you're saying thewrong thing. I think they input the
(03:13):
Spanish text, so it's that's thething, like he has somebody translate the
text of his and then they inputthe text and then it reads the actual
proper Spanish. It's not like someoneelse translates it. Yes, that it
is human. Yes, I'm prettysure. I'm pretty sure the human trans
and then must you so okay,so a robot reads words? Yeah,
(03:38):
do you need to edit? Doesit doesn't need a Marcus treatment on the
audio file? Nope, it doesnot. Everything's optimized so you can take
the the Robot's that good because therobot has good mike technique. That's good.
And there's no name sound because they'renowhere, because they're right, they're
in the machine. I need tolike roll a joint for that one,
(04:02):
shit man, GOLLI have like atext conversation and then just send to this
robot and the robot will talk likeall of us. That is the future.
Just think about how much funnier Icould be if I could, like,
you know, prepare. So whatI'm thinking is, and I mean
(04:23):
I've spent a decent amount of timetranslating my thoughts into Spanish for Tinder now
that I live in Central America, and let me tell you, a Google
Translate has really messed me up acouple of times. So I yeah,
and there's so many different dialects ofSpanish, so like it depends on where
(04:44):
you are. It could even dependon where you are in a specific country,
never minds the country itself. Solike I don't, yeah, I
have, I have my doubts. However, I think it's super rad because
I mean, you know, Englishrepresents like five percent of the world language,
Like you know, it's so it'sso entitled to just have all this
(05:04):
content in English and not in otherlanguages. It's like assuming it's what everybody
needs. It's like, no,man, where's the minority here? Like
every podcast should be available in theall languages, and how cool would it
be if things could really get tothat point, you know, I mean
if you build up enough databath basewith AI. Yeah, that's where we're
(05:29):
going. You're on the way, because nobody wants to hear me do anything
in Spanish. Yeah not me.Ei there. Well I'm getting close though,
I won't need to be us,so we'll see Mosca. Time will
tell see. I don't think that'sright impoor support exactly. I'm just gonna
(05:50):
say they're like random phrases that Ithink I know. But yeah, so
that's pretty cool. I'm all forthat democratization of information. Man, that's
a really solid way getting that donefor sure. Down Bearers Podcasting Boom start
to do the job. Old Brianb laid in the charge. I'm here
for that's it. That's killing it, killing it And uh yeah man,
(06:15):
she podcast is this week, Sosuper excited leaving for that and like less
than forty eight hours so wow wishum. Yeah, man, I think
it's gonna be really good. I'mexcited to like meet a bunch of women
there and soak a ball, havefeminine energy and just like enjoy that time
hang out with some moms. Youknow, I'm here for it moms.
(06:36):
You know, I think I thinkalmost all podcasters or moms on some level,
you know what i mean. Likefor the most part, that's pretty
random statement to me. But ifyou put that's like it's like if you
put not even podcasters, but likeif you put like five hundred women in
one place. Yeah, you knowat a paid convention, it's gonna be
(06:59):
less younger people. There's a solidpercentage of mom's in there, you know
what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, like mom, mom gone for sure,
like mom podcasts, mom, yeah, mom casts. Yeah, I'm
gonna just leave that one alone. But yeah, So I'm excited about it.
I think it'll be really good,you know what I mean. It's
(07:20):
been a rough month like with withthe mom stuff, right, so I'm
kind of excited to just go andit'll be my birthday while I'm there,
and I'm just gonna I'm just gonnahang out, man, you know what
I mean, to hang out withwomen. And I'm doing a little meat
up there about podcast businesses. AndI'm excited about my pre tution about my
presentation yet imposter SYNDROMEA isn't real.I'm actually more excited about this presentation than
(07:42):
any other presentation I've ever done before. That's gonna be awesome. That's wait
to go. I got that goingfor me. So I gotta go to
a mall when I get there, because all I own arm T shirts and
jean shorts, and because two pairsof sneakers and one pair of flip's literally
every article of clothing I own,And so I'm I'm gonna have to go
(08:05):
to a shopping mall after living ina third world country. It's like,
you know, it's just it's gonnajust feel so fucking weird to be in
a shopping mall on the say,but whatever, I'm excited. It'll be
cool. Scottsdale, here I come, you know, and you've got a
lot to like, you know, put out there because you got you got
new ship working. I do.Man Super Pumped rolled out the new website
(08:31):
today hardcast Media dot com and MollyRolling dot com and is officially live yep.
So all the lead magnets and everythingwill be in place by the end
of the day. So by thetime anybody hears this, we will be
rocking and rolling. And yeah, man, I hired like an SEO expert,
and like I had, like hireda professional content writer, and I
hired like an email management person andlike I'm doing the thing. Man,
(08:52):
I'm going for it going on.So I'm sure we'll we'll dive into this
in like future episodes. But like, what's the what what grew to this
point? Like what's the big picturehere? Well, the big picture is
just offering a more well rounded service. So now in like we have two
different offers. So if you ifyou don't have a marketing team or if
you do, and so if youdon't, we'll do everything. You know,
(09:16):
we'll set you up. It's amonthly retainer, so you can do
one, two or four episodes amonth, depending on what you want.
And we'll also we'll do everything soyou can either self record or we'll run
your session, which is actually reallyvaluable because a lot of people are having
a hard time scheduling and so maybesomeone's like, hey, I'm running thirty
minutes late. Well, if they'reon our studio calendar, we can't really
(09:37):
do that, right, But ifthe guests can sell or if the client
can self record. It makes itso much easier for them. Right,
So it's a monthly program. Ifyou don't want to self record, Matt
will run your sessions. It's totallyup to them. We'll edit do everything
that we've been doing. Uploaded toyour RSS feed, uploaded to YouTube.
But what we're offering now is alsoa blog post, a post on LinkedIn,
(10:01):
like an article on LinkedIn, anarticle on medium, and social media
for the month, whether you doone, two or four episodes a month.
So it's full boat. It's strategy, you know, it's the production,
and it's the amplification, which Ibelieve the three pillars of any branded
podcast. Yes, did you findthat in like in the clients that you
(10:22):
were already servicing that these were kindof like the buckets that ended up needing
to be filled? Is that whatbrought this on? Well, it's a
couple of different things. I losta client, you know, one of
my best clients, right, andso I had a meeting with her to
be like, okay, you know, why do I lose you? What
happened? Right? And it wasjust simply that she doesn't have a marketing
team, and so it wasn't gettingdone, and she had a friend who
(10:46):
recommended somebody who does everything in oneand that was the only reason why she
credits you know, everything good aboutthe podcast. She loves us, all
of that, but she was justlike, I don't have the bandwib to
do all this. And then shetold me where the holes were in what
we were doing, so I wasable to immediately make some changes, you
know, look at the competitor whatthey were doing, and just kind of
(11:07):
like it sort of snapped me outof it. It's like I made so
many advances with the business and ouroffers and then I've just been sort of
stagnant for a while, and alot of our clients are like recording all
willy nilly, and ain't nobody's podcastis going to be successful if you're recording
all willy nilly. That's not howthis works. And I don't want to
be a passionate podcast producer. Iwant to be I am a branded podcast
(11:30):
producer, And so you have tocommit, and you got to commit for
at least three months. But whatI'm offering is a ninety day one money
back guarantee on the bi weekly orweekly you know, monthly package. Then
in ninety days. If you don'tsee a result, you know, a
(11:52):
direct result from the podcast in yourbusiness, I will refund all of your
money back, which is twelve kerry. Yeah, no one can see another.
And what I'm doing differently is changingmy startup like the works package to
include a package straight from podcast outfitters, or a brand new mic and headphones
(12:16):
and a mic stands. What I'moffering three months of focus sessions. So
for the first three months, youget a ninety minute session with me once
a month, and we are goingto dial in on the goal post.
What is the goal of this podcast, What does success look like? Who
are you trying to target? Youknow, what to expect, what are
(12:37):
the milestones, what are the timelines? And then you know, another focus
session month two, and another focusfocus session month three. So in that
time, if you're doing a weeklypodcast, you will have gotten twelve LinkedIn
articles, twelve medium post, twelveblog post, twelve podcast episodes, twelve
you two videos, twelve social sharevideos, a month's worth of social media,
(12:58):
which is like twelve there's twelve ofthat, right, you know what
I mean. It's a mountain ofcontent, and you've gotten ninety minutes with
me. So at the end ofthose three months, if you haven't seen
a result from your podcast and youfeel like you haven't gotten value, you're
just a fucking asshole. You didit wrong, you know what I mean.
I don't like there's just no way. There's no way the recipe,
(13:20):
Yeah, and I stand behind thatone hundred percent. Like no one else
is offering that guarantee, and likeno one does the product, Like no
one has twenty years of actual experiencegoing on the table, right, No
one's no one, Like that's what'sdifferent, you know. And I'm an
artist, so our content looks betterthan everybody else is. I'm very particular
(13:41):
about esthetic, whether it's mine ormy clients. If this shit needs to
look good, you know, andjust really training people more on Okay,
the follow up the halo marketing, the second touch point, the third touch
point, Why did you have thatguest on there? You need to have
a reason why that can't just beyou know, we're not talking about building
an audience as a podcast that we'retalking about a branded podcast that is specifically
(14:03):
designed for business development and creating strategicrelationships. That's what people hire me for,
not to become new and noteworthy oniTunes, right, you know,
And so just giving people to templatesand the checklists and the scripts and just
the confidence because they're gonna meet withme for ninety minutes once a month,
right, so they'll know exactly wherethey're going. They have access to the
(14:26):
team, They have this amazing treiloboardthat's easy to navigate with all these scripts,
templates, a microphone. You knowwhat I'm saying. We're gonna make
it so easy for them and makethe offer so good that it's impossible to
say now. So there we are. Success is imminent. It's it's right.
I can't wait to see where thisgoes. Man, this is gonna
(14:46):
be awesome. I can't wait totalk about it more on the show too.
Detail. Yeah, I'm pumped.Awesome. And I gotta tell you
I owe it all to two books. Well I can't. That's a little
dramatic. I owe it all tolike twenty f you guys. But I'd
like to thank the Academy, um, but also two books, you know,
(15:07):
the two books. Okay, onehundred million dollars offers by Alex Hermosey.
Okay, make your offer so goodthey'd be insane. To turn it
up. Never discount your products.Only offer bonuses. Yes, create a
guarantee that's so good people can't refuse. But price your product above everyone else,
(15:37):
right, and then over deliver. That's the key, you know.
So, yeah, it's just gettingmoney's worth. It's right. Blow people's
minds. It's going to cost youforty five hundred a month to do a
sixty minute weekly podcast with us.But what you couldn't hire somebody for fifty
thousand dollars a year to do allof that for you? Record I did
(16:00):
a podcast to social media. No, any business that understands marketing is going
to understand how valuable that is.Yep, that's a team of people.
That's a team of people six ofus scale of doing it the way you're
doing it's gonna be awesome. Can'twait to see what happens. I'm super
pumped about it. Man, Soone hundred million dollar offers. And then
the other book that I've read iscalled Get Different, and it's Mike mccallowitz.
(16:21):
He's the guy that wrote Profit First, okay, and he talks about
how you got to be a redsuit in the sea of gray suits,
and how you have to market yourselfdifferently, and he talks about you have
to like find what's unique about you. I'm like, well that's that's a
no brainer for me, my dumbassand just everything about me. I don't
have to concoct some personality, right, I don't just start wearing like a
wig or something to like you couldn'tblend in if you tried. Yeah,
(16:45):
right, Like it's like, youknow the sailor's mouth that I was gifted
from my crazy Fiona at Fiona. But anyway, the point is he's like,
you got to stand out, andthen your marketing should be different.
Everybody in your industry is creating ads. It sound the same, and so
they all sound this. Everyde's duplicatingeach other, you know, And I'm
like, god, he's right. And so he's like, you have to
really lead with your personality and what'sdifferent, and your marketing just has to
(17:07):
be really different. And so Iwhen I come back from sheet podcast,
all my marketing is gonna be likeif you're a podcast advisor told you to
buy the YETI a Yedi, firehim and call me instead. I'm gonna
like, all my marketing is gonnabe ridiculous, Like tired of being mansplained,
like join the club, you know, Like like I'm just gonna go
hard. Like everything that these guyssay about podcasting is wrong. Talk to
(17:32):
the real everything that everybody's been thinking. I'm just gonna, yeah, I'm
just gonna be the person I am. You'd serve these ads because they're gonna
stay right, they're gonna stand out, they're gonna make you laugh, they're
gonna be and then you're gonna cometo my plate, my website and you're
gonna go, oh man, thisis legit. She's producing for DC government
and NATO and Department of Health andlike you know what I mean, Like
(17:53):
she's doing it like my money.I take my money right and and I'm
going to deliver amazing results because I'mgonna be there every step of the way,
and we're gonna do our focus sessionsand we're going to deliver top notch
quality content and I get to train. You know, I'm partnering with these
two young women who own a marketingagency called twin Flames to twin I keep
(18:17):
want to call them girls, butthey're not girls. They're just younger than
me, but they're they're not kids. By any stretch. But I'm getting
to like help and mentor them intheir business and build systems for them so
they you know, I'm just I'mpumped about all of it. There's just
so many positive things around it.So I'm excited to come back from Shee
Podcasts and just really like go ona bunch of podcasts and really start spreading
(18:37):
the word about what we're doing. And we're gonna be putting this podcast kind
of through that process. So thisis going to be a great, you
know, model to see. Youknow, I feel like what we're doing
like we're spitting out that's it.We can do it for you too.
And I want to talk about allthis stuff as we do it too,
(19:00):
like because that's that's what we podcastersneed to be doing. They kind of
see the peak behind the curtain typething. Agreed. How the sausage is
made, Yeah, you know,I'm not comfortable with that. It's like
how the sausage is made. It'slike when people are like, this isn't
your first rodeo, I'm like, what the fuck are you trying to say?
Man? Like I look like arodeo bull? Like I don't know,
(19:21):
first of all, who's going rodeos, like it's such an obscure reference,
like what are we what are wedoing? But yes, well you
can see how the sausage is made. If that doesn't make you uncomfortable,
I like sausage, Yeah, Ido too, Nothing wrong with that.
Well, in the in the podcastgear world, it's been a it's been
(19:44):
a dark time for most of theyear, just because it's been tough to
get products and no, nothing newhas been coming. But some boats arrived
and some new gear has showed up, and I think there's even more coming
out the rest of this year towill we're going to see. But some
pretty exciting things came out in thelast month. One I'm using this isn't
(20:08):
new, but I'm trying not.You haven't. You have not knocked my
microphone once this session, So Itake that as a major kudos to the
microphone that I am attempting to useduring this podcast. This is the Appage
hype mic, which is the USBmicrophone that Marcus would know the name,
probably the only person in podcast worldthat would actually know the name. Yeah,
(20:30):
but Appag is like Pinnacle level shitin the world of audio recording,
and they made a pretty banging USBmicrophone that has a compressor built in,
so hopefully I'm not really distorting andsounding terrible. I hope that is the
case. I can't. I'm hearingmyself fire. Yeah, but it has
a built in compressor, so itactually should be kind of maintaining the volume
(20:56):
and making sure that everything sounds awesome. It's a little in this worst the
acoustically worst room ever to do apodcast in, which is just a hardwood
box that I'm sitting in right now. Yeah, I'm hoping that it's not
atrocious. That's why I'm so closeto the microphone. Well, and I
was gonna say, like, themicrophone sounds good, but with you and
(21:21):
being that close is good. Exceptthe plosives. The plosives are killing the
ploss the post herself. We'll haveto work on that. I'll try to
manage my pop pop filter. Ifyou move it down like by your chin,
my plosives. There you go,my plosives. All right, we're
managing the plosives now, thank you. Um. Sausage being made right here,
(21:45):
people, Sausage is being made rightnow, squeezing through the tubes.
Another new product that came out, which is pretty cool because Molly is kind
of using the big brother to thisone. It marks using the bigger,
bigger brother, bigger sister, howeveryou want to play it to this the
sibling, non gender specific sibling. This is the Sure MV seven X,
(22:08):
which is the XLR only version ofthe MV seven which is what Molly has,
which is the hybrid and is thedescendant of the SM seven B,
which is what Marcus is using.Yes, so if you like how Molly
sounds and you like the vibe thatMarcus is putting out, the NB seven
X is a more affordable version ofthe MB seven So no USB, just
(22:36):
XLR. But if you're going torock a roadcaster or a zoom recorder or
any other sort of function where you'regoing to do two people in one space
and you're not going to do thewhole USB mic game, MV seven X
is where it's at, and it'sseventy bucks cheaper, right, significant,
pretty good deal. Now you're talkingthirty percent and cheaper. Um strips out
(23:02):
all the bells and whistles that youdon't need and just gives you like a
super solid sounding microphone that is oneof the still one of the few that
are specifically made for podcasting, right, So it literally says that it is
a podcast microphone. It's not likea mic that says it's for broadcast and
podcasts and streaming, and it's podcasts, mike. So it sounds that sounds
(23:23):
the way you're supposed to. Soif you're if you got multi people in
one space, try to do somethingcool. Yeah, And it's that price
point is the killer thing, butalso the simplicity factor. And I haven't
been able to compare. I havean MB seven USB, not the X
yet, but I did see avideo by Yeah by Bandrew Scott who claims
(23:48):
that the XLR on the MB sevenX sounds better than the XLR output of
the MB seven USB, and Icould hear a little difference. It's weird,
like I don't know why. Andhe's kind of like, why why
is this different because it should bejust the same. But I guess they're
that circuitry that's involved. I wasgoing to say, I could make a
(24:11):
nerdy excuse for why that might sounddifferent. Yeah, take a swing at
it. Let's see we can ask. I can I'm gonna see Laurea later
this week. I can confirm ordidn't it yeah, yeah, so you'll
confirm next time. But I wouldimagine, just like anything else, like
any other microphone, as long asyou change one thing in a circuit path,
like you could change everything, Likeit could be the whole. You
change the wire, Yeah, theway the wire is wound around something else
(24:33):
that changes the impedance of it andgets it totally could change everything. So
where the metal is sourced from allof it, So by removing components,
by removing metal, by removing otherthings that are living inside of that microphone
that it has to take the micand split it and then do things and
convert it, and all these thingssitting in the way NB seven X,
you just have pristine microphone diaphragm toexcel our output into whatever you're doing.
(24:59):
So I I could imagine it beinga better sound. There's a reason why
there's no SM seven B with aUS, you know what I mean,
Like it has that sound. Youknow, they could have just done that
and stuck a USB and and itwould have been whatever, But maybe it
didn't sound quite right, you know. So um, there's definitely something to
be said for less is more,And I could definitely see where that could
(25:19):
impact the sound and that said, the USB part of the regular MB seven
is totally worth the money though, because of what it does, totally like,
totally a feel amazing, the compression, the EQ, all the stuff
you have. It's the MB seven, yeah, yeah, the regular one
like you yeah, the raining Supremein the word of us Micrones. For
(25:42):
sure, this is what I'm gonnasend people. It's easy MB seven cool,
especially if you're doing something like onRiverside or anything else like that.
Like it's just super super easy, super easy. And I did notice on
podcast Outfitters that you have the andwill link to this in the show notes.
For sure, you have the umthe this on the man Frodo tripod.
(26:06):
Yep, yea, they have abundle that comes with the Little Pixie
Pixie tripod. Yeah and they Yeah, so there's all which ways of doing
it, which I like. Ithink that might be a little more obtainable
than a boom arm, even thoughI prefer the boom arm, but a
boom arm is a little intimidating, and then people always set it up the
wrong way, yeah, um,or some sort of a table stand and
(26:29):
then like little earbuds and the MBseven and I know I could go cheaper,
but like, you know what, this is an impressive microphone to get
and people will remember me forever. That's right, That's right, totally.
It's a good way to start.Yeah. The last thing that came out,
which is which is appropriately timed forthe podcast world, is a product
that I wasn't initially too hot onwhen I first saw him. I didn't
(26:53):
quite get it. Getting my handson this thing, I get it and
it's awesome. Is the task Cammix Cast four, which is there's no
dancing around this thing. It's dead. It's a dead clone of the road
road cast. I don't think anyonewould be offended by me saying so,
(27:14):
because you'd be blind. You'd haveto be blinded not see that. That's
the case. Yeah, but theydid a great job. It's metal,
The thing is dense, like itfeels like a real piece of kit.
The power supply is better, whichI just think is like eas very important.
It's built in and you don't haveto have this giant brick and this
(27:36):
other thing and this other thing.Just easy. But it does the same
same stuff, same thing. Fourmic inputs, USB channel, phone,
wired phone channel, bluetooth channel, sound recording, touchscreen, all the sound
pads, all the same headphone outs, big ass record button. It's great.
(27:57):
Yeah, it's great, And Ithink that it's you know, at
a time when getting product is toughand you don't want to cut corners,
you don't want to get something that'slesser than what you'd like to use.
Um. You know, the worldis still waiting for the next roadcaster boat
to come in from Australia, sothey're just not available right now, not
(28:17):
available right now. Mixcast came inat the right time, and I would
have no qualms. In fact, they've already done a couple this week.
Someone wants roadcaster, don't got it? They got this thing and it's great.
Yeah, great, And how muchis it? Five ninety nine same
price, same price price as aroadcaster. Um, so really coming in
(28:37):
hot, and it comes with theone nuanced piece to it that is slightly
different than the roadcasters. It comeswith Companion software M Speaking updates dedicated for
podcasting, which takes us to Marcus. Yes, so I have seen some
podcasters like yay another cool free dawwhich is fantastic. I'm all about having
(29:04):
more free software. However, Iyeah, light on, I love task
m I've been, you know, growing up in the studio world. We
use task Am tape machines and DATplayers and a dats and task Am is
a great brand, but they makehardware, they don't make software. So
(29:26):
but I tried to give this thinga chance. I installed it this afternoon
right before we got on. Loadedup, start a new session, click
to open the session, crash, tried, you know, adjusting some settings,
restart my computer, same thing, crash. Now I am on an
(29:49):
M one Mac, so they areprobably not. I almost guarantee they're not
supporting the new Apple chips, youknow. So that's that's the problem.
But if you have a PC oran Intel Mac, then you're probably fine
or even I don't know if theyrun Linux or I don't think they do
Linux. But it runs on aniPad too, like you can you can
(30:11):
that's the other cool things. Youcan run it from your iPad, which
I don't. Can you do thatwith a roadcaster pro? I don't think
so. Yeah, so that thatbonus with your iPad, Yes you can,
so yes. Speaking about one morething, the task game before we
move on the one other cool thing. Just the same. It's basically the
same as a roadcaster. But thepotential for a product like this and a
(30:34):
roadcaster versus something like a Zoom recorderis that there's such being that they're so
software based, both on the hardwarepiece and the program that you're talking about.
It's it's big enough to make itbetter, right, Yeah, it's
not like it's one and done. It's not like, oh, this this
(30:55):
X, Y or Z recorder justis fine. That's not going to get
any better. The components aren't goingto get better. The way it records
isn't going to get better with aproduct like this, it can get dramatically
better with a simple update, whichbeing that this is the first shipment that
has hit the States, it's justbound to get better. Like they're going
to get the same way road It, where they got tons and tons of
(31:17):
users telling them what they needed todo, and every couple of months they
just crank out exactly what the peoplewant. And as long as task Cam,
I mean, obviously they listened tothe to the market. Now they've
got to listen to the actual usersbuild something that they have an ecosystem where
where road kind of stops at thecomputer. For now, task cam is
(31:38):
trying to finish it a little bitmore so, I like that it went
that far. I like it thatthey're taking it not just from record this
thing to an SD card and dumpit later. They're taking it into the
DOW so that maybe there's going tobe some better potential for deeper integration,
(31:59):
make this a better flow for anyanyone recording a podcast. Yep. And
I love the fact that they builtthis DW from the ground up specifically for
podcasters. That's the big selling Ican't wait to see. I'm going to
try it on my old Mac thatis not an in one chip, and
because I've seen other people running it, I'm almost guarantee you it's this new
Apple chip that everybody's still trying toupdate, you know, their software for
(32:21):
theres just happens to not even openan all on my machine. Well,
and I really like what you saidtoo, Like I feel, you know,
who knows, like especially this supplychain thing, like they might be
the only gig in town. Theymight sell million dollars worth of these things,
and then they could put all thatinto development and just like run laps
around people, right, Like, maybe this is task In's opportunity to become
a software and hardware company. Yeah, like crazier things happen, right,
(32:45):
who knows, well, Molly, you week one, so you brought up
Presonas. That's exactly what Presonas isdoing, because Studio one is actually my
number one recommendation for free software entrylevel. Yes, because they last year,
you said, Because I still though, I know, but I changed
(33:07):
my opinion because there's new software alwayscoming out, so it's probably gonna change
again. But yeah, Studio oneis killing it. And Presonas also was
just a hardware company, you know, five years ago. Even I think
Studio one has been out for alittle bit longer than that, but they're
much longer though. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's one of the newest DAWs
(33:28):
and they are killing it. Andwith usability. It's made for musicians,
so it's not perfect for podcasters, but it as free software. It's super
powerful. It's cool, it's awesome. That's happened in Marcus as well.
What's happening in the world of editingand podcast recording? Marcus, That was
pretty much it. I'm still churningaway trying to make my content for podcast
(33:51):
audio Lab. I keep changing andtweaking my focus on who I'm going after
but I'll have more to report backin future episodes of the podcast Club.
So can't wait. Marcus, haveyou ever read the book uh by Donald
Somebody's called Building a Story Brand?Yes, Donald Miller, Donald Donald,
Donald Miller. Yeah, yes,I feel like here in Nashville, I
(34:15):
feel like that's a really good book. Oh, you should read it.
You should totally read it. InMy wife has read it and filled me
in on key parts. And sheshe's the like the strategist out of the
two of us, so and she'sthe reader. Also, I don't.
I don't read anymore since I don'ttravel on planes. She's just Marcus,
it's the only time here you reading. Yeah, that was when I was
(34:36):
touring. I would only read,Like when I was traveling, I didn't
read for like twenty years. SoI can't tell anybody. I read like
tutorials and like I do tech researchstuff now, like that's how I watch
YouTube videos. I read websites,I read manuals, like that's the kind
of stuff that I read, Likehoney, like page twenty seven, seven
(34:58):
nineties says the noise floor on thisshould not be this high, of course,
no, but jen Jen is definitelyfamiliar Donald Miller and a lot of
my friends are. We actually signedup for one of his Story brand courses
and I watch some of the videosand stuff. He's awesome. So yes,
I need to I need to crackthat thing open. We have it.
(35:20):
Check out one hundred million dollars offersby Alex Ramsey for sure. For
sure. And it's like a threeand a Jesus, it's like a four
hour book. So Mark Adam, you should watch it, dude, or
listen to it too, read itwhatever whatever your jam is. But on
audible it's like less than four hours, so especially if you speed it up,
like you can crank through that jobyou over the weekend and like it
(35:42):
will fill your head. Move speedit up, Oh, one hundred percent,
man, one point four. Youknow what I can hear normal speed?
I edit at one point seven five. You're insane, dude. Yes,
And that's the that's the only reasonI can't use Studio one is they
don't have an easy way for meto toggle back and forth between the Adore
(36:08):
that's the ship monks by anyway. But I'll get into and yeah, we're
gonna have to get into that becauseI did not know that that is a
new information that I did not evenknow that was a thing. Yep,
that's her next second. Same thingwith YouTube videos, you can change the
playback speed. So if you're watchinglike a editorial about like how to turn
your camera in a webcam or someshit, ye, it first just gives
(36:31):
me the five minutes of them beinglike subscribe to my chain, and then
you speed it up to like onepoint five and you're like, let's get
to the show on the road.Tom Okay, yep, live in a
one X world when I should belive in one point seven five X world.
Dude. Yeah, I mean Ithink Tom Bill, who listens to
podcasts and books at like to attwo point two point three, but there
(36:54):
was Yeah, that's I'm like, all right, just get osmosis. This
is just yeah, just it's justin your brain. You got to dig
it out later. Yeah. Anduh for me means bye bye Birdie,
like I should never coming, butlike at first they started like one point
three and then and now I'm upto like one point four. It also
(37:15):
depends. Most people are kind ofslow talkers, honestly, you know what
I mean, specially on audio books. So for me, it's an intention
thing. You know I come from. You know, my mom's from Brooklyn,
my dad's from the Bronx. Solike, I come from a bunch
of fast talkers. So if youdon't talk fast enough, I get super
easily distracted. So for me,it's like an ad D like wrangler just
(37:36):
to keep them talking fast. Ye. And then when I realized, man,
I can crank through. Like ifyou think, like an average book
is like eight hours, right,if you listen to it at one point
three or one point four, nowit's like a five and a half hour
book, you know. And thenyou're like, okay, well I commute
an hour every day, so ifyou listen to it on your commute,
you can get through a book aweek. And then also you're like whoa,
(38:00):
yeah, Like you can get somuch knowledge reading a book a week
that like, by the end ofthe month you'll have some serious gems.
I mean, reading those books justlike it kicked my brain back into overdrive.
I was like, of course,of course, this makes so much
sense. All the things I justrattled off to you. You're like,
yep, yep, yep, doneright, Like, but sometimes you just
need someone else to say those thingsto you. In a different way,
(38:22):
or just reassure you mind what you'rethinking is the right thing. But but
that's totally the light pack. Soeven if you're going to like get in
the car for an hour, man, if you listen to one hundred million
dollars offers at one point four justgoing there and back, we'll get you
like seventy five percent through the book. And it's like two hours you fucking
(38:45):
spend all week. I guarantee youthat much, you know what I mean,
whole game, dude. It seriously, it's like a it's like a
race, Like it's like a competitionfor me to like see how quickly I
can get through books. But alsostill it's like I listen. I active
listen. I'm I don't like typeand do other shit. I like listen,
and if I wander, I justrewind it, you know, And
(39:07):
so now I can focus for alot longer period. Yeah, when I
cooked dinner, I listened to it. When I'm like working out and just
doing raps or like peg stretches onthe floor in the living room, I'll
turn an audio book on, youknow, if I'm gonna do thirty minutes
worth of stretching, like dude.Yeah, knowledge right there. It's a
couple of chapters. Yeah yeah, hell I need I need to start doing
(39:28):
that. I also need to startexercising, so that might right there.
Marcus, Two Birds, one Stone. Well, I feel like I learned
a lot already in this episode, and we just cranked the shit out,
so right, I was pretty awesome. This is a great episode, and
I feel like back. We're back, back people, We're back. Get
(39:49):
ready for it, that's right, get ready for some serious action. That's
right. We are back. We'reso back that we're going to see you
next week. That's right out.Continued contu
