Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to another episode of the Putty
Report.
We are continuing theconversation about Convert Kids
State of the Creator EconomyReport for 2023.
And the thing that I wanted todive into next is where creators
see the best audienceengagement, because I know that

(00:20):
this audience is always talkingabout.
I want to grow my audience, Iwant to have an engaged audience
.
What does that look like?
And so one of the things that Italked about is connecting with
your audience has two mainelements what you share and how
you share it, and creators payattention to which channels have
the largest or highest audienceengagement.

(00:42):
But they're also willing toexperiment with new types of
content to keep it fresh, and Ilove how they have, like these,
testimonials sprinkledthroughout the entire report.
And this says Tiago Forte.
He's the founder of Forte Labs.
He says our email subscribersare the only people who I
consider dedicated followers.

(01:03):
Social media is great, but it'sso easy to follow someone that
connection isn't particularlystrong.
For that reason, I've alwaysconsidered email central to our
business and will continue to doso.
I could not agree more, tiago, like this is so important, and I
think that this is one of thosethings that I've said from the

(01:24):
beginning like it's great tohave social following and to
really have this large audience, but at the end of the day, my
email list is the thing that Iuse to measure how is my
audience doing?
Because those are the peoplethat I can actually connect with
.
I could send them an email, say, hit reply and let me know, and

(01:45):
people actually do it and theytalk to me through the emails
and they buy from me throughemails and we have this solid
relationship that way where Ifeel like social media is pretty
fickle.
But I will say this let's diveinto the top creative outputs
that ConvertKit said everyoneanswered for their 2022

(02:10):
experience, so this reallysurprised me.
This actually shocked me alittle bit.
To say, the top creative outputof the entire survey was
articles, blog posts or books.
I was like, wow, that's really,really like I wouldn't have
thought blogs and writtencontent was at the very top, but

(02:30):
it was quickly followed bysocial media posts and short
form videos and then emailnewsletters, like those are kind
of tied for second and third.
But I thought that was sointeresting because I wouldn't
have thought articles and blogposts and books were at the very
top.
But if we think about theinternet and, historically,

(02:50):
what's been around the longest?
Articles, blog posts and bookshave been around the longest, so
that makes sense that it'sstill kind of raining at the top
, but quickly followed by shortform videos and email
newsletters.
So that was a very interestingagain, I want you to go download
this so you can look at all thecharts that they have in here,
but one of the things, as theysaid, is, the most popular

(03:14):
platform for marketing contentis drumroll, please, instagram.
I loved seeing this because Iwas like, oh well, that's where
I market my content and that'swhere I like to hang out online.
And you would probably think, well, isn't it TikTok?
Everyone talked about TikTokall of 2022 and 2021 and it's
just been around forever.
It's like number six, I think,in the list, and so I think that

(03:39):
it maybe it comes down to theage of creators.
That took the survey, but itsays more than 55% of creators
use Instagram to market theircontent.
The next one is their emailnewsletter, followed by Facebook
, blog post and YouTube.
So yeah, tiktok was number six.
I just thought this was reallyinteresting, so I want you to go

(04:01):
and dive into this.
There's actually some tips inhere that I didn't see before on
how you can use social mediaand email marketing together.
Of course, convertkit is gonnahighlight email marketing third
email service provider but it'swhat I love about them is you
can get all these cool ideas.
Like it says, five ways to takecontrol of your marketing in an

(04:22):
algorithm driven world, andit's an article all about social
media and using email together.
So go download the state of thecreator economy report.
It's gonna be linked in theshow notes for today, but that's
all I have for you.
So, as always, remember, keepit fresh, keep it fun and just
keep going.
