Nowadays it is hard to
find unbiased and factual news
especially about politics. Withpartisan commentators dominating
the ratings and networks, theAmerican people are left to find
the truth themselves. It is timefor people to hear the truth. It
is time for people to not haveto hunt for the truth. The
political informant is a newpodcast that seeks to do just
(00:24):
that. My name is JosephMaronski. And I am sick of
opinion passing as news. News isfact news is clear news is
unbiased. Welcome to thepolitical inform in your place
for fact first politics.
(01:02):
It's a big week in politics, JoeBiden will be inaugurated as the
46th President of the UnitedStates, the United States
declared the Chinesegovernment's treatment of Uighur
Muslims and genocide. PresidentTrump has removed some travel
restrictions on foreigncountries due to COVID-19 and
much more. I'm Joe Maronski. Andyou're listening to the
political informantJanuary 20 2021, at noon. That
(01:31):
is the start of the Bidenadministration in the White
House. President Elect JosephBiden and vice president elect
Kamala Harris are slated to beinaugurated right at that time,
in a very different ceremonythan ever before. Currently,
25,000 National Guard troops areguarding the Capitol, there are
(01:53):
troops representing every singlestate territory and the District
of Columbia. That has neverhappened before. We have never
seen that many troops at theCapitol any day, especially the
inauguration. And then on top ofthat, we have National Guard's
troops activated in California,Connecticut, Delaware, Florida,
(02:13):
Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky,Maine, Minnesota, North
Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada,Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania,
Texas, Utah, Washington, andWisconsin. That all comes after
the FBI warned of possibleattacks on state capitals. Now
these governors were not takingchances. Obviously, on both
(02:33):
sides of the aisle. We haveplaces like California, with
Democratic governors in placeslike Florida with Republican
governors, these governors don'twant to see what happened in DC
happen at their capitals, andthey're being very proactive.
There are 34,000 guards activeacross the nation. 12 guards
were just removed fromWashington DC after an intense
(02:54):
vetting process showed ties toright wing militia groups and
officials spoke to theAssociated Press on the phone
under the condition of anonymityand did not disclose what groups
or who these troops were. Butall we do know is that 12 guards
had ties to the right wingmilitia groups. Trump's not
going to be there. But he's notthe first to do so. A lot of
(03:15):
news headlines are reading in anunprecedented event. President
Trump won't attend theinauguration. Well, quite
simply, that's not true. This isnot unprecedented. He's actually
the fourth president to do. So.
The first was john adams, whowas the second President of the
United States. Second was johnquincy adams, the sixth
President of the United States.
Third was Andrew Johnson, the17th, President of the United
(03:39):
States. And of course nowPresident Trump, the 45th
president will not be attendingthe inauguration of Joe Biden,
the 46th. President, but it isnot unprecedented. We keep
hearing that word. And quitefrankly, it's just not true.
Vice President Mike Pence willbe in attendance. And Biden has
hinted that the inaugurationwill be similar to the
(03:59):
Democratic National Convention.
It's going to be mostly virtual.
We're not really sure what thatmeans. Is it going to be outside
inside? All we know is thatthere are things set up outside
the Capitol. Before what we'renot 100% Sure. Usually 200,000
tickets are given tocongressional members to give to
their families to some of theirconstituents, but this year,
(04:21):
those tickets are not there.
They're just simply not there.
They were not given out and theDC Mayor even called for people
to stay home on InaugurationDay. With the inauguration on
Wednesday, President Trumpdelivered his farewell address
on Tuesday around 4:30pm. Nowusually this is a live address,
but President Trump released apre recorded message on the
(04:44):
White House YouTube Channel. Init he thanked his family staff,
Secret Service, armed forces andeven more people. He discussed
some of his accomplishments suchas record low unemployment and
record high stock market days atthe end
He nodded his supporters andsaid quote, now as I prepare to
hand power over to a newadministration at noon on
(05:06):
Wednesday, I want you to knowthat the movement we started is
only just beginning. There'snever been anything like it. The
belief that a nation must serveits citizens will not dwindle,
but instead only go stronger bythe day.
(05:28):
Corporate America has come underfire from the left in recent
weeks. Most notably, Democratshave been calling for companies
to ban President Trump stoppeddonating and condemned the
violence that they say he isresponsible for. Now, most
notably, Twitter did bannedPresident Trump. However, the
Twitter suspension program datesas far back as 2010. The first
(05:51):
notable suspension was Decembereighth 2010 when they suspended
Operation Payback. Now, this wasa coordinated service denial
executed against MasterCard,Visa and PayPal. Twitter has
suspended left wing figures suchas hackers of the Westboro
Baptist Church, however, theyhave definitely suspended more
right wing figures. There's noargument about that. If you look
(06:12):
at Twitter's history, but thenthat brings up a unique
question. Is this due to attackson right wing figures by
Twitter? Or do right wingfigures violate the Twitter
policies more? Only time willtell with this, but it will be
very interesting to see whichone of those it is Twitter has
handed down 16 suspensions sinceJanuary 7 2021. They are handing
(06:36):
down suspensions like theircandy, and it definitely enters
dangerous territory. Now, a lotof right wing activists are
saying it's a huge firstamendment violation. But quite
frankly, it's not. The firstamendment can only be violated
by the government. A privatecompany cannot violate your
first amendment rights. Yes,maybe it is censorship, but it
(06:58):
is not a First Amendmentviolation. We enter dangerous,
dangerous territory when peoplewho are a little confused start
making claims. That's solelybecause they don't know the
facts. Now, are they to blamefor that? Is their education to
blame for that? Or is media thatdoesn't cover the truth to blame
for that. So in a veryinteresting survey, Jeffrey
(07:20):
sonnenfeld of the Yale School ofManagement conducted an informal
poll of some of the topexecutives 40 to be exact. So
we're going to go throughquestion by question. I'm going
to give you some of theseanswers, and propose some other
questions that bees then bringup. So the first question he
asked was, did President Trumphelp incite the violent attack
(07:40):
on Congress? 100% of theseexecutives said, Yes. Now, did
they vote this way? Because thisis how they truly feel? Or is it
because this is how they thinkthey should feel?
The second question was, shouldPresident Trump be impeached and
removed from office 96% of theseexecutives voted yes, but only
(08:01):
4% voting now. Now this bringsup another interesting question,
do they actually think he willbe removed we have since found
out that the trial in the Senateis not taking place until after
he is out of office? So where dowe go from there? We can't
remove the man from office. He'salready out. So what do you do?
(08:22):
Do you ban him from running in2024? Or does the senate not
convict him? The third questionwas was it right for social
network tech firms to blockPresident Trump from their
platforms? 85% of the executivessaid yes to this question. And
15% said no. But do they thinkit impedes on the First
Amendment? Or do they think thatcorporations should respect
(08:45):
government officials? This goesback to an earlier point.
Private companies can't violateyour first amendment rights.
However, should these privatecompanies understand that
government officials are in aunique position position and
need access to talk to people?
The fourth question was shouldbusiness PACs and trade
associations cut off donationsto legislators who aided
(09:07):
sedition? 100% of the executivesaid yes. Now is that because
they disagree with whathappened? And the fact that
these legislators voted tooverturn the election? Or is it
because they don't want to beassociated with them for
publicity reasons. We're seeingthat way too often nowadays, you
know, in a canceled culture, people will do anything they can
(09:31):
to not be canceled, even if thatmeans lying. And some of these
people behind closed doors arenot the same people you see, out
front on a stage talking to acompany talking to friends and
family. You know, these peopleput on a persona so that they
don't have a publicitynightmare. The fifth question
was should businesses halt allpolitical donations? Now this
(09:54):
means regardless of politicalparty, and 42
percent of the executive saidyes with 58% saying no. So this
brings up a unique question, whywouldn't it be considered a loss
of profit to keep donating. Butit truly just shows the
influence that corporations havein politics. These corporations
(10:16):
are making multi million dollardonations to people and then
calling in favors. And the lastquestion that was asked was do
you think that Washington willbe under attack a week from when
the survey was taken?
82% said yes. With only 18%,saying now, now, a week from
(10:39):
when the survey was taken is notInauguration Day. It's January
13. So do these corporations nottrust law enforcement to protect
the Capitol? Did they not thinkthey were going to get things
under control? Or did they thinkthat the President would
influence these people to goback out? Now, this means a lot
for the future of corporationsand politics. First of all, we
(11:00):
could see large cuts indonations to those who voted to
overturn the election. Or wecould see the names of
corporations disappear, whileother cover names appear. You
know, corporations are veryshady at times, and they have no
problem making large donationsunder a different name, but
making sure the politician knowswho it came from.
(11:21):
We could also see vast cuts inpolitical donations from
corporations, but we most likelywon't. As I said, corporations
play a huge part in politics.
And these politicians often needthe money that they are giving
them. We could see an uprisingand grassroot campaigns, which
we have seen from the left, butnot so much on the right now, of
course, there's a few grassrootscampaigns we've seen on the
(11:42):
right. But the left definitelyhas more success with those
grassroot campaigns. And ofcourse, we could see less of an
influence in politics fromcorporations if politicians stop
accepting donations from them.
People on both sides of theaisle have been calling on this
for years, the general public isdone. They don't want
(12:05):
politicians whose pockets arelined by corporations that then
call in favors at the expense ofsmall business and the general
public. Americans are doneplaying games. They don't want
public officials who go in andwork for corporations. They want
public officials who go in andwork for them
(12:34):
Uighur Muslims, not a lot ofpeople know who they are. But
the United States just declaredthat the Chinese government
treatment of them is a genocide.
Now, the statement came from theState Department about a year
after a Biden spokesperson saidthe same thing. Now the Chinese
government is utilizinginternment camps and forced
sterilization in the shinjangregion. There's been years long
(12:56):
debate about this issue, but noconsensus has been reached with
State Department officials andlawyers fighting for years about
whether or not to declare this agenocide. Secretary of State
Mike Pompeo said that Chineseofficials were quote engaged in
the forced assimilation andeventual ratio of vulnerable
ethnic and religious minoritygroup and quote, now this
(13:20):
denunciation is the strongestone to date by any government in
the world. It is a huge step tomaking sure that the Uighur
Muslims are protected. Now, ofcourse, the shinjang government
is fighting back with theirDeputy Director of propaganda
saying, quote, this isunfeathered
(13:43):
No, of course officials in theshinjang region, specifically
the deputy director ofpropaganda are speaking out and
fighting back. He said quotethis utterly untethered
fabrication of quote genocide.
Regarding Shin Jang is theconspiracy of the century,
people of all ethnic groupsindependently chose safe,
effective and appropriate birthcontrol measures. There has been
(14:06):
no such problem of quotemandatory sterilization in the
region and quote, China hasdeflected by calling the Trump
administration out for what theycall major failures such as the
death of 400,000 Americans dueto COVID-19 and the mob that
breached the capital. The Trumpadministration has not spoken
out against these claims. Butthe Chinese government is
(14:29):
clearly using this as a tacticto deflect on being called out
for the wrongdoing they arepartaking in. Now. Some
sanctions are already in effectsuch as blacklisted police
departments and Xiang Zhang andblacklisted companies in China,
but more are expected. However, the use of the term genocide
presents a unique challenge forthe United Nations. The United
(14:50):
Nations Genocide Convention wasconvened after world war two
they came to the conclusion thatcountries must take action
against yougenocides and that genocides can
happen whenever and wherever.
According to the UN legalwebsite, quote, the crime of
genocide is defined in Articletwo, the provision that sits at
(15:11):
the heart of the convention.
genocide is a crime ofintentional destruction of a
national, ethnic, racial orreligious group, in whole, or in
part. Article two lists fivepunishable acts of genocide.
This definitional provision hasstood the test of time,
resisting calls for itsexpansion. And it is reproduced
without change in suchinstruments as the statues of
(15:33):
the ad hoc tribunals for theformer Yugoslavia and Rwanda and
the Rome Statute of theInternational Criminal Court and
quote, now, where do we go fromhere, we could see new sanctions
against the Chinese government, which we most likely will see,
if not from the Trumpadministration, those will most
likely come from the Bidenadministration. We could see
(15:54):
ties cut with corporations inChina increased taxes on goods
here in the United States, and apossible insertion of the United
Nations and eventual trial ofthe Chinese government.
(16:15):
With the covid 19 pandemic stillongoing, things are changing. On
March 11 2020, March 14 2020,and may 24 2020, the Trump
administration issued differentexecutive orders restricting
travel to the United States.
These restrictions included thePeople's Republic of China,
excluding the specialadministrative regions, the
(16:38):
Islamic Republic of Iran, theSchengen area, the United
Kingdom, excluding OverseasTerritories outside of Europe,
the Republic of Ireland, and thefederative Republic of Brazil.
Well, President Trump on the18th of January 2021, issued a
new executive order. In this heterminated the restrictions of
(16:58):
entry of certain travelers fromthe Schengen area, the United
Kingdom, the Republic of Irelandand Brazil. These are slated to
take effect on January 26 2021,and the restrictions are still
in effect for the IslamicRepublic of Iran and People's
Republic of China. In theexecutive order, President Trump
stated that the reason for thesetwo countries still having
(17:20):
restrictions is their failedcooperation and sharing timely
and accurate information with ushealth officials. Additionally,
effective January 26, the CDCreleased new guidance that
people entering the country mustpresent a negative COVID test.
Now these go hand in hand withPresident Trump's revised travel
restrictions. And he even saidthat these came at the
(17:43):
suggestion of the CDC secretary.
We're expecting theserestrictions, however, to be re
imposed by the Bidenadministration, but critics are
questioning why they would bereimposed when you could rely on
the negative test and a rigorousquarantine process to enter the
country, like many othercountries have implemented.
