Coach Ray Gionta
Ray Gionta began playing football in grade school with the Folcroft Boys Club in 1963 and later excelled as an offensive guard/defensive tackle at West Chester University
Gionta launched his coaching career in 1975 as an assistant at St. James Catholic High School and became head coach at St. John Neumann in 1986 before arriving at Marple Newtown in 2003
Over 11 seasons at Marple Newtown (2003–2013), Gionta compiled a 65–55 record, earning recognition like the 2009 Delco Athletes Hall of Fame and the 2011 Philadelphia National Football Foundation Outstanding Contribution Award
After stepping down, Gionta continued his football journey by taking the head coaching position at Sun Valley High, illustrating a decades‑long dedication to responding to youth through sport.
