Jordan Kerner is a renowned film producer with a storied career spanning decades. After beginning his journey in entertainment with Group W for KPIX San Francisco in 1971, he transitioned into law in 1976 before returning to entertainment as a program and talent negotiator at CBS in 1977. He gained further experience at Universal Television for NBC and later at ABC Entertainment, where he rose to Vice President of Dramatic Development in 1983.
Kerner’s producing career took off after meeting producer Jon Avnet. Together, they founded The Avnet/Kerner Company, debuting with Less Than Zero. The duo produced hits like The Mighty Ducks franchise, George of the Jungle, Inspector Gadget, Fried Green Tomatoes, and The Three Musketeers. Their portfolio extended to television movies such as Do You Know the Muffin Man? and Mama Flora's Family.
After parting ways with Avnet in 2001, Kerner established The Kerner Entertainment Company, producing films like A Wrinkle in Time and Snow Dogs. He later developed Charlotte's Web with Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, followed by The Smurfs, which became a successful franchise. It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars?
