Krystal Proffitt (00:00):
What I love
about this is that she has so
many variations of the type ofcontent that she has, but a lot
of it is her podcast episodesand she is just staring down the
barrel of her camera or she'slooking at her notes and she's
recording and there's not a lotof setup to it.
And this is something that somany of you tell me like well,
(00:21):
Krystal, I can't start puttingcontent on YouTube until I have,
like, more editing skills or Ihave the ability to hire an
editor and y'all.
That's BS.
No, you don't.
You don't need all these fancytechnical things or you know
high, high quality editing tocreate meaningful content
(00:44):
quality editing to createmeaningful content.
So I just want to throw it outthere that that's a limiting
belief that you have to havethese things that are super
fancy.
So I want to debunk that rightnow and say, no, you don't have
to have that.
But I also want to throw outthere that when you show up in a
big way and you continue toshow up, I believe that that
(01:08):
pays off, and it can pay off ina few days.
It could pay off in a fewmonths, but at the end of the
day, that consistent contentcreation is the thing that has
led Amy to where she is.
Like I said, this wasn't herseventh video.
She's published over 720 videosand some people will hear that
(01:28):
and be so discouraged, but atthe end of the day, I believe
that it's that consistent, longgame mentality that pays off.
Welcome to the Proffitt Podcast, where we teach you how to start
, launch and market your contentwith confidence.
I'm your host, Krystal Proffitt.
Launch and market your contentwith confidence.
I'm your host, Krystal Proffitt, and I'm so excited that you're
here.
Thanks for hanging out with metoday, because if you've been
(01:51):
trying to figure out the worldof content creation, this is the
show that will help be yourtime-saving shortcut.
So let's get right to it, shallwe?
One thing that I've come to loveover the years of helping
people get started with theircontent, grow with their content
, is the updates that I get inmy DMs.
(02:15):
I will get random messages frompeople in this community and it
is one of my favorite things.
That happens to me, because Idon't know about you, but there
aren't many people that get itin my life.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Like there aren't a ton ofpeople that if you say oh my
(02:36):
gosh.
I booked this incredible guestor you know, someone joined my
email newsletter or someonebought my product or one of my
videos went semi-viral.
Most of your friends and familyprobably aren't going to get it
.
They're going to be like, okay,or what does that even mean?
And so this is one of thoseepisodes that I'm so happy to
(02:59):
create, because I love it whenyou share your wins with me.
So if you've never shared a winwith anyone else, maybe you feel
like, is that a big deal or not?
All of it is a big deal to me.
So you are free to spam my DMsat any time or send me an email
and let me know about those bigmilestones that you have hit in
(03:19):
your creator journey, because itbrings me so much joy.
But today we are specificallytalking about a message that I
received from my friend, amy.
So shout out to Amy Connell.
She has the Graced Healthpodcast and her YouTube channel
and I think that what she doesis so incredible.
She's actually been on thepodcast before Just to share
about her creator journey andwhat that means.
(03:41):
She's actually local, like tothe Houston area, so we've been
able to meet up for conferencesand we've had lunch dates, and
it was so fun to get thismessage from Amy, so let's take
a listen.
Amy Connell (03:54):
Krystal, hey, happy
Friday.
I had to reach out because I'mlike hardly anyone's going to
understand this.
I put a video up on YouTube aweek ago and I just have not
invested a whole lot in myYouTube channel.
It's just one of those thingsthat I'm like, oh, it's just one
more thing, and so I don'treally mess with it too much.
(04:17):
So I went through, I did all mystuff and that thing.
I normally get like 50 to 80views on my podcast episodes.
It's Krystal.
It's gotten almost 10,000 viewsand my head I'm kind of like
I'm exploding a little bit.
I have increased my subscribersalmost by 50%, which again it
(04:40):
wasn't much.
So thought for you if youhaven't already done an episode
on your video went viral.
Now what?
There's an idea?
Hope you have a good weekend.
Krystal Proffitt (04:52):
That's pretty
cool, right, like it's pretty
incredible to hear thatsomething like that happened and
again, I love that she reachedout to me to share it.
Now I'm not going to bore youwith like our back and forth of
like the next four or fiveminutes of what our conversation
was after that, but I did wantto point out this specific video
(05:13):
.
So this is the video for Amythat she had and it's called
what Does Lifting Heavy Mean forWomen in Perimenopause and
Menopause for women inperimenopause and menopause.
So Amy has the Graced HealthPodcast and what she does is she
is a personal trainer thathelps women specifically really
be in touch with their bodies ina healthy way.
(05:36):
She's actually written a fewbooks and we'll link to all of
those things in the show notes.
But I told her specificallybecause I'm like oh, I'm in this
genre, like I am part of youraudience, amy, and the words
perimenopause and menopause havebeen so hot in my feed.
I know I'm 38.
(05:56):
I'll be 39 this year.
I know why it's in my feed, butI will go as far as to say that
it's also in my husband's feed.
Yeah, that's right.
Like our phones and our devicesthey're all listening or
whatever.
And my husband gets Instagramreels that are targeted toward
husbands of you know, theirpartners are going through
(06:18):
perimenopause and he just hecracks me up.
He's like oh, perry is in myfeed again today.
I definitely want to quote likethe Holderness family.
If y'all are not following themon Instagram and you're in this
stage of life like, please gocheck them out, because that's
where I first heard the termPerry for perimenopausal women
and it is fantastic.
(06:40):
But, amy, like I want to go backto her.
Like, what do I do?
Like, this video wentsemi-viral and, as me recording
this today, she released thisabout three weeks ago and it has
around 18,000 views, which ispretty significant, because some
of her other videos have someof them less than 100, other
(07:00):
ones a few hundred, and I thinkthat this is such an incredible
like.
Okay, what do I do now?
Like, right now that thishappened, what is something that
I can do?
So I thought you know what?
I'm just going to go real timeand do a quick audit and say
here are some ways that you canoptimize your content so that
(07:20):
you're making sure that you'recapitalizing on the attention
right, even if it's somethingthat is short-lived.
I think that this is one ofthose topics that is evergreen,
so I think that she's going tocontinue to see growth.
It is hot right now, though, like this is one of those quote
trending topics that I thinkwill continue to be relevant,
(07:40):
specifically for that audience.
Right, she is targeting thisaudience, so it's well worth
investigating how you canoptimize that piece of content.
So we're going to go to YouTube, we're going to go to Amy's
video specifically, and we'regoing to walk through some of
the ways that she can optimizeher content, or make sure that
she's optimized it in a greatway.
(08:01):
So let's go.
Okay, so we are on Amy's channeland this specifically, right
here, is the video that wentsemi viral that we're talking
about.
So let me open it up.
Oh, let me pause it.
There we go.
So I want to call out something, because this is something that
Amy said to me.
She was like this is just avideo, like it's just direct to
(08:25):
camera.
I'm just looking at, like I'mrecording this.
I don't remember if sherecorded it on Zoom or another
platform, but I do know thatit's something that is not super
sophisticated.
Amy, we've had so manyconversations about it.
It's like she wants simple andI'm looking at she has 800 likes
on this.
No thumbs down, no, no, not atall.
So I'm giving her another.
(08:45):
So, amy, there you go.
You got your 801 for this video.
But let's look at how it'soptimized.
So first, like I said, it isjust and I'm just kind of
scanning through the whole thing.
There is nothing else in here.
There's no fancy editing thatshe did.
It is just direct to camera hertalking.
The only thing that she did doin the video optimization is she
(09:08):
put chapter markers.
So if you have something thatdifferentiating, like through
the video or your episode canhave chapter markers, please put
those in because those willhelp optimize for SEO keywords
that you can use later.
So that is one thing likefantastic job, amy.
I love that you did that.
But let's move further down andlook at other things that she
(09:31):
has here.
So she says the great gracedhealth podcast with video and
then it talks about you knowit's Christian health for body,
mind and spirit for women over40.
So very clear what this episodeis about, or what her whole
channel on everything and itlists the chapters in here.
So someone, if they want tojump ahead, amy also listed.
(09:53):
She has a great descriptionthat throws in more keywords.
So it's perimenopause for women, how to get started, why it's
beneficial, so all really goodinformation that she has in here
.
And then I'm also looking atshe has a free download and a
link to her newsletter.
(10:13):
So I just want to like applauseall the way around, amy.
This is such incredible content.
I think that you've alreadyoptimized this so well.
You have other ways for peopleto connect with you.
You have your website, you haveyour Instagram and your YouTube
all linked here, so I reallydon't think I have anything else
to add.
I know, like you thought I wasgoing to come here and like
(10:35):
tearing me down, like, oh, youcould do this, you could like.
I think that this is optimizedbeautifully and I think the only
other thing is, if you have acard I'm actually it's a 40 plus
or sorry, it's 39 minutes and30 seconds.
I was gonna say it's 40.
It's a 40 ish long video, whichis long, and I think that that
(10:55):
is what's like really workingfor you is getting that content
in a way that it is prolongingthat watch time for this
specific video.
If you've had 18,000 views, ifyou've had that many people
watching for 39 minutes.
That is a great amount of watchtime for this specific video.
(11:16):
So, again, kudos to you, and Imean I just I keep going back to
this is so incredible, so Ihope that you have a call to
action within the video.
Like I said, I'm not going towatch the entire thing right now
, but if not, make sure you havethose cards that are going
throughout the video.
That way it can say you know, subscribe to the channel, go
(11:38):
download your freebie or checkout your book or listen to more
episodes of the video.
That way it can say you know, subscribe to the channel, go
download your freebie or checkout your book or listen to more
episodes of the podcast.
But I'm actually looking at, Ihave my keywords everywhere tag
or tool here on the side and Iwas right.
It says perimenopause right nowhas a monthly volume of 673,000
searches.
So I really truly think thatthat's why you're getting found
(12:01):
and I would love to know, amy,as a follow-up, let us know how
many subscribers you got off ofthis particular video, because
it's videos like this, theseviral moments, that can help
grow your channel and grow yourmessage.
So great job, amy.
I think that you're alreadydoing incredible work and I
can't wait to see where thisvideo takes you and takes your
(12:23):
content.
(12:43):
She has 1.6K subscribers andshe's published over 720 videos.
Now, videos always like that'skind of an obscure number
because she also has shorts onher channel as well as long form
videos.
So kind of take that numberwith a grain of salt that that
doesn't mean that you have topublish over 700 videos for
something to go semi-viral orviral on your channel, but it's
really something that I look at,amy, and I would love for y'all
(13:05):
to go check out her channel.
Give it a subscribe if you fither audience.
But what I love about this isthat she has so many variations
of the type of content that shehas, but a lot of it is her
podcast episodes and she is juststaring down the barrel of her
camera or she's looking at hernotes and she's recording and
(13:26):
there's not a lot of setup to it.
And this is something that somany of you tell me like well,
Krystal, I can't start puttingcontent on YouTube until I have,
like, more editing skills or Ihave the ability to hire an
editor and y'all.
That's BS.
No, you don't.
You don't need all these fancytechnical things or you know,
(13:49):
high, high quality editing tocreate meaningful content.
So I just want to throw it outthere that that's a limiting
belief that you have to havethese things that are super
fancy.
So I just want to throw it outthere that that's a limiting
belief that you have to havethese things that are super
fancy.
So I want to debunk that rightnow and say, no, you don't have
to have that.
But I also want to throw outthere that when you show up in a
(14:13):
big way and you continue toshow up, I believe that that
pays off and it can pay off in afew days.
It could pay off in a fewmonths, but at the end of the
day, that consistent contentcreation is the thing that has
led Amy to where she is.
Like I said, this wasn't herseventh video.
(14:34):
She's published over 720 videosand some people will hear that
and be so discouraged, but atthe end of the day, I believe
that it's that consistent longgame mentality that pays off,
because what I see too often ispeople are discouraged after
they publish their seventhepisode and it hasn't gone viral
(14:56):
, or it hasn't shot to the moon,or they haven't gotten millions
of people to download theircontent or subscribe to their
channel and at the end of theday, I look at people because so
many of you in this audienceare just like Amy that you're
trying to create something andyou're trying to put content out
(15:16):
there, and you can getdiscouraged if it doesn't hit
overnight and we quit or we stepaway or we say this isn't
working.
This isn't for me.
And one thing that I reallyadmire about Amy is she has
changed a few different thingsabout her content, but at the
end of the day, she just keepsshowing up.
(15:38):
She's like I'm going to do whatI can and create the way that I
can, because this is somethingthat is going to fit into my
life and the lifestyle that Ihave and I'm not going to show
up every day in a way.
That's not sustainable for me.
Like I said, we've had so manyconversations about this, and
one thing that I truly love isshe has really stuck true to
(16:00):
that value, and it's somethingthat I continue to do as well is
you know what I'm going to keepmaking this work for my life
and the way that it can fit intoyou know, being a busy mom of
three boys.
Same thing for Amy.
She's got kids and she has somany things happening in her
life.
She has clients that she workswith.
Like I said, she's a publishedauthor that she's working on all
(16:21):
these cool projects, and onething that I just so admire
about her is that she keepsshowing up in this way, and I am
so happy to celebrate that.
It has paid off and, like Isaid, amy, you'll have to update
us.
How many email subscribers haveyou gotten from this video?
How many YouTube subscribers, how many people have reached out
?
Have you gotten any clientsfrom this?
(16:41):
Like, what are some of thoseother cool things?
I actually didn't even look tosee if she had a bunch of
whatchamacallit comments fromthis video.
Like, how many people are like,oh man, like this was such a
great thing.
I'm actually going to go backto it now because I shouldn't
just be sitting here asking allthese questions.
We should know we're about toget down to business and we're
(17:04):
going to see which ones Hang on.
Here we go, here we go.
Yeah, she has a video on herefrom six years ago that's gotten
25,000 views and it looks likeit has a lot more editing.
But, like I said, here's thisone that's gotten 18,000 views
and it's very, very simple.
So let me see, I'm going back.
(17:25):
I'm going back.
I said I wasn't going to makethis all about Amy, but Amy, I'm
making it all about you.
Lady, she's gotten 84 comments.
Yes, oh, my gosh, like this isgreat.
Thank you for clarifying whatheavy lifting actually means for
women who are not exactly younganymore.
Like these are reallyinsightful comments, not ones
that are just like great video, like says yes, finally, someone
(17:47):
explains.
Explains this I'm 67 workingwith a trainer, but I'm sore and
I'm achy and I'm tired, y'all.
She has found her people.
These are so incredible.
So please go check out thisvideo, go check out the comments
and everything that we talkedabout here today, because I
think that this is just a lesson.
Okay, look, I just saw this.
I have to read one more.
(18:07):
It says new subscriber here.
Where should I start as a hypermobile person?
This is just a lesson.
Okay, look, I just saw this.
I have to read one more.
It says new subscriber here.
Where should I start as ahypermobile person?
This is my biggest obstacle forstarting.
I don't even know whathypermobile is, but it's
probably something that sheexplains in her video and again,
this is her audience.
She has found people that arespeaking her language and
talking about the things thatshe is also passionate about.
(18:28):
She has found people that arespeaking her language and
talking about the things thatshe is also passionate about.
So if you have an example ofwhat this looks like, please
comment below.
If you're watching on theYouTube channel, let me know.
I want to know what experiencesyou've had with viral content
or something that is just likeoh my gosh, it performed way
better than I expected.
(18:49):

year and I am your opposite.
I never want to get lost in theslide designs.
It's my accountant braingetting in the way of my
creative brain.
Love this episode and love thatyou practice before you present
(19:35):
.
I am off-the-cuff podcasterbare-bones outlines, but
practice for my conferencepresentation.
So glad I did, because I feltso much more confident.
Now again, that's BethWhitworth for
accountingwithconfidencecom.
I love that we are not all thesame, beth, and I know that
(19:56):
there's other people who havethe exact same thing.
So, yeah, those creative brainsand those planning brains can
really trip us up and get us outof our comfort zones.
So I love that we are not allthe same.
And if you're wondering whichepisode that Beth is talking
about, I gave multiple episodesthat were behind the scenes
(20:16):
about podcast movement.
So I recently spoke at PodcastMovement 2025 in Dallas and I
did an episode where I sharedthe whole behind the scenes of
how I prepared for my talk.
Then I did an episode onpodcast movement itself and
going to the event, if you wantto see behind the scenes there.
And then I did another episodewhich was actually my talk.
