I hope that your loved ones aretaken care of and I hope that
everything is on the up and upfor you.
Thank you for tuning into thisepisode and coming to spend some
time with me.
I've been well On theconsulting front.
I'll be wrapping up a couple ofproject management and
communication contracts betweenthis month and over the summer
(01:24):
and looking to what's next.
At home, I feel like there hasjust been a lot going on over
the last year, year and a half, but I've moved, and not to a new
place or a new city or a newstate a new place or a new city
(01:49):
or a new state.
I live in a generational homewith family and recently I
swapped apartments and I have abit more space and a lot more
light, which makes me happy.
It's a lot more to clean Stillvery much in the throes of
things right now gettingeverything situated and
organized, making some upgradesto the space to really make it
(02:09):
my own and get it to a placethat I'm comfortable with.
So I have been in the throes ofthat and I will be in the
throes of that for a littlewhile longer, but I'm really
looking forward to feelingreally settled and comfortable
and just getting the space to aplace that makes me feel happy
and comfortable and relaxed.
(02:31):
Living in a generational home.
This is a house that mygrandparents built in the 70s
and it's a property that they'vealways had among other
properties they've always hadamong other properties.
I've lived here for most of mylife, outside of small stints
living in states like Floridaand Arkansas and in other
(02:54):
counties in New York, but forthe most part, this house has
always been home In swappingapartments.
I'm now back in the unit that Iwas in when I was really little.
What is now a spare bedroom wasmy childhood bedroom.
So in some ways it's a freshstart, but in a lot of ways it's
(03:17):
not.
It's familiar, it's home.
It's where I've had a lot ofmemories growing up.
It's where I've been for mostof my life, especially in my
adult years.
So I'm grateful and overwhelmedat the same time and just trying
to get everything in order andto a place that feels good.
(03:39):
For the most part, I am one ofthose people where my
environment is a directreflection of my mental state
and my mental health.
It's very hard for me tooperate in chaos, disorder,
dysfunction, if things are outof place and out of whack at
home.
So it's been an interestingseveral weeks and, to be honest,
(04:02):
this process has been long.
So it's been an interestingseveral months going through the
throes of this very long drawnout transition and I'm just
really looking forward togetting back to a place where
everything is set up, organized, cleaned and comfortable for me.
So that's that.
(04:23):
That being said, for folks whowatch full guest interviews or
any full solo episodes onYouTube, you may notice in some
upcoming episodes that my usualsetup is different.
It's changed.
It's not the same.
That is because I am in atransitional period and at some
(04:44):
point there will be a new setupor a similar setup to before,
something that just feelsaligned and appropriate.
So something to note Outside ofthat y'all like, all I'm really
focused on right now is havingfun and being outside.
Like it's springtime, summer ison the way, right around the
(05:06):
corner, and I just I am bloomingand growing and stretching and
I just want to be in the sun.
I want to have a good time.
I want to do fun activitieswith friends.
I want to be outside and justenjoy myself.
I really haven't felt this wayabout summer in a really long
(05:26):
time.
I think the pandemic and thelast several years just stole
that energy and that desire forme, and this is the first time
in a while where I'm like I'm inNYC, I live here, I want a fun
New York summer.
I want to do some of theactivities that really lit me up
in the past, because a lot ofthem still light me up, some of
(05:50):
those fun outdoor activitiesthat only come around in the
summertime.
I want to enjoy those thingsand I want to do those things
and I want to be outside so that, and while I'm still holding
space for all of the crazythings happening in the world
around me and around us, I stillwant to continue to feel alive,
(06:14):
I want to continue to bloom andfall off the hardness that I've
built up in response to theworld in a lot of ways and I
just want to be and I just wantto exist this summer.
I'm interested in events, museums, activities, picnics,
hiking, glamping all of thethings that help me to feel
(06:34):
whole and myself and well.
So I'm looking forward to thatand in a lot of ways I've
mentioned on the podcast beforethat I am writing a book and it
is about my single season, because my single season has
been very long and I actuallyreferenced an older episode of
the podcast recently and I waskind of shook to look that far
(06:59):
back and realize that I had beentalking about working on a
project, about my single season.
Then too.
At that time it looked totallydifferent.
It was not a book, it wassomething else.
That project has just morphedinto a book, and in writing it
it's opened up my heart andhealed me in ways that I didn't
expect.
(07:19):
It's brought some feelings andsome thought to the surface that
I honestly had buried and justnot thought about, and writing
has been really therapeutic inthat way.
And as much as I'm creatingthis project for others who
might be aligned with it, I'malso creating it for myself, and
(07:42):
I've come to some really deeprealizations throughout the
process.
And it's like I said, it'sopened for activities and fun
with friends.
I'm also trying to be on thesidewalk, not necessarily in the
streets.
(08:02):
In that sense too, on thatfront, I'm just open.
I'm open to new connections andI'm excited about that.
I think in terms of friendshipstoo, establishing new
friendships in this season of mylife has really, really really
opened my heart up and let a lotof sweetness and softness into
my life in ways that I justdidn't expect, and that's been
(08:27):
beautiful, getting to build newconnections and relationships
that meet me where I'm at now,and even in doing that, it's
taught me how to cultivate andnurture existing relationships
too.
It's refreshed me in a lot ofways that are really important,
and I'm so grateful for that.
(08:47):
So this season of my life isvery good.
It's very blessed.
I'm very blessed, I'm verygrateful and I want to soak it
in, I want to enjoy it, I wantto get settled, I want to have
fun, I want to feel alive againand that is what I'm focused on.
What's next for me is I'mcalling in more aligned
(09:08):
opportunities, more careergrowth.
Also more love in allcapacities.
I'm ready to grow inrelationship with someone else,
not just myself, not justplatonic friendship, but beyond
that too.
So being open in a way that Ijust really haven't.
(09:33):
Spending time with friends, I'mgetting dolled up for special
occasions, I'm continuing to getmy body to a place where I feel
comfortable and confident andhealthy and strong.
I'm having fun, I'm makingtravel plans and I'm just living
and enjoying life.
Life is short.
We're not here for a long time, but we should make damn sure
(09:55):
that we're here for a good time.
Now, here's what all this meansfor the podcast.
I have been doing so muchreflecting about the show and
I've decided that I'm taking astep back and taking the
pressure off of myself to showup every week.
2024 was a transitional year ina lot of ways.
(10:16):
I made a commitment to myself.
Last year I saw it through.
I had episodes for the mostpart going out every week for
most of the year.
It was just a really good yearfor the show.
I had incredible conversationswith incredible guests and I was
just on it in a way that I wasfree to do because of the
(10:40):
evolution of the show.
I just felt free to do it and Istill feel very free to do it
and at the same time, I don'thave the energy to do it the way
that I had previously done it.
So I am pivoting.
I've mentioned before that thefrequency of the show might
change.
(11:00):
The original format of the showwhen it first started was on a
bi-weekly basis and I feel likefor right now, bi-weekly feels
really really good.
So the next several episodesthat are coming out really
incredible guest interviews willbe coming out on a biweekly
basis and that feels good for mefor summer.
(11:21):
It gives me the spaciousness tojust enjoy my summer and to
still create and to still haveincredible conversations and to
still connect with you, but itgives me a little bit more space
and a lot less pressure.
But it gives me a little bitmore space and a lot less
pressure.
So, while I'm not pressuringmyself to just go hard and go
nonstop this year, I'm reallyexcited for what's coming up on
(11:45):
the show and I'm really excitedabout the conversations that
we'll be having in the comingweeks.
And the good thing about apodcast is that it is always
around, as long as the host doeswhat they need to do to ensure
that it is still around andstill available.
I'm really excited that thisplatform exists, so proud of the
(12:08):
archive, I'm so proud ofprevious episodes, and it's
always here and binge-worthy.
If you're new to the show andyou would love to visit past
episodes that call out to you,do that.
It's always here.
I feel like one of the things Ilove about this iteration of
the show is that I really focuson evergreen content and
(12:30):
conversations.
The solo episodes that I do,the conversations that I have
with incredible featured guests,are timely.
They're always on time, they'realways relevant, especially
when it comes to creativity, topurpose, to alignment.
They're always available.
So check out some episodes youmay not have listened to before.
(12:50):
You might hear something thatfeels right, on time for this
season of your life.
As always, the best way to knowwhen new episodes are coming is
to make sure you're followingthe show on your favorite
podcast platform, whereveryou're listening right now, and,
of course, on social media forany and all updates In this
(13:12):
season of the show.
I'm also learning to becomfortable with imperfection
and not critiquing myself sodamn hard.
I recently got advice from amuch bigger and more seasoned
podcaster than me.
Shout out to Ashley Leggs, whohosts the Slay Girl Slay podcast
, and she encouraged me to letmy episodes breathe and that
(13:35):
doing the interview and editingthe episode is enough.
I don't have to listen againand again and be so hellbent on
constantly improving, and thatadvice took a weight off of my
chest.
You know this podcast iscurrently listed in particular
categories For you as a listener.
You may look at the podcastplatform that you're listening

see certain categories thatthis show falls in and right now
across you know Apple, spotifyand other podcast platforms.
The show is currently listed inlike the education category
with like the self-improvementor self-help subcategory under
(14:21):
that.
Some podcast platforms allowyou to list more than one
category, so sometimes you'llsee other ones show up.
So, depending on what appyou're listening on right now.
You might also see society andculture slash personal journals,
or you might also see businessslash entrepreneurship.
It just depends on where you'relistening right now, and I've
(14:44):
been experimenting with theseand other categories since
around March 2024 to help theshow reach its target audience,

and other women and femmes ofcolor who are new or seasoned in
their creativity and seeking alike community.
(15:04):
It's open to everybody.
Everybody can listen.
But as a Black woman who lovesto uplift the voices and stories
and experiences and brillianceof other Black women, who loves
to be in conversation with wise, worldly, spiritual women, this
podcast is for me and it's forus spiritual women.
(15:29):
This podcast is for me and it'sfor us.
So I've been experimenting withthose categories to help the
show to reach its targetaudience and results vary.
The reality is that shows growbest by word of mouth and also
from me being a guest on othershows with similar audiences.
