basically means I'm the headbroker.
I oversee all the brokers inevery state, for exp and both
realty and commercial.
Milly (01:16):
Wow.
Cool.
Okay.
And then for our first question, can you share your career
journey and what led you to joinexp Realty?
Holly (01:25):
Oh my gosh.
So fun fact.
I actually went to college forbroadcasting and I graduated and
I went to work for a radiostation.
I wanted to be a radio dj, radiopersonality.
Cool.
But my family was in real
estate.
My dad's a real estate attorney.
My uncle and my grandfather hada real estate company and
(01:46):
radio's really hard.
I had a couple of jobs tosupport being in radio.
So I had the opportunity to getmy real estate license.
I joined my uncle in 1998, soI've been in the business almost
30 years.
Really haven't looked back.
I've been a single agent.
I've worked on a team, I've beena national educator.
(02:07):
I also volunteered for therealtor organization and I've
been a state president and I hada really good friend that I
trusted and she said, would youcome work with me at EXP and be
our state broker for Arizona?
I said, you know, I'm having areally good year selling, but
maybe I should take this risk.
I don't know anything about thiscompany.
(02:27):
It looks pretty cool.
Why wouldn't I try?
And I got to join EX exp in,2018, and I haven't looked back.

(03:17):
Welcome to the new standard inLuxury real estate.
as a woman in real
estate, what has been your
biggest challenge and how haveyou overcome it?
Holly (03:27):
Wow.
so as a woman in real estate.
We're not always invited intoevery room.
There are more women in realestate than there are men, but
in leadership positions, there'smore men than there are women.
So that's been the hardest parta lot of times.
And especially, I got into thebusiness basically at 22, and a
(03:50):
lot of people didn't take meseriously because I was so
young.
Mm-hmm.
And I was the youngest
person in the room, so I had to
outwork everybody.
I had to make sure that I knewmore than they did.
I had to come at it in a waythat was helpful and supportive
because you can't just walk intoa room and pretend like you know
(04:11):
everything'cause it's notpossible.
my journey led me to anytimesomebody invited me, I said yes,
and it made a huge difference.
any kind of career that a ladygets into.
the hustle that you have, thepassion that you have, you can
never undercut it.
Do something you're passionateabout because it will require
(04:31):
every ounce of you.
Milly (04:33):
What is one mindset or
habit you believe every woman
should develop to be successfulin this field?
Holly (04:40):
Believe in yourself.
Like anybody.
Getting into sales and realestate, it's the confidence that
you carry as you walk into theroom.
People want to believe in you.
They need your help.
And so if we walk in knowingthat we're gonna help them in
one of the most complicatedtransactions of their lives,
that's very personal becauseit's where they live and they're
(05:00):
gonna celebrate anniversariesand birthdays and bring their
new baby home.
people want somebody who'sconfident.
And also that empathy, becauseempathy listens.
If you can do that when you areconnecting with people and
building relationships, you willabsolutely be successful in real
estate.
Milly (05:18):
That's great.
and then how has mentorshipeither given or receive and
impacted your success?
Holly (05:24):
I wouldn't be here
without my mentors, and I always
looked for the people who were.
Absolutely excellent in whatthey did, and it could be very
small.
But those people, I wanted toreally listen and learn from,
and you never stop.
I think that's the thing aboutlife, like you've always gotta
(05:44):
be a student and keep learning, but when you learn something,
you share it.
and so sometimes the studentbecomes the teacher, but you
really wanna make sure that thepeople that you're trying to
teach are willing.
Milly (05:55):
what advice would you
give to young women considering
a career in real estate orbusiness in general?
Holly (06:02):
I think that
relationships are gonna be the
biggest key you will ever have.
And what I love that I heardyesterday from Ariana Peja, our
CEO's wife, she is.
An absolute force in business.
And she said, look, you need toknow when it's time to pivot.
You may have the best idea inthe room, but sometimes that
(06:24):
best idea needs a slight massageor to look at things
differently.
And it's so critical to look atyour business and have that
holistic view.
When do I need to pivot?
What does that need to looklike?
Because if you think you can dothings the way you've always
done them.
You will not change or grow.
And this business requiresconstant growth, constant
(06:47):
education, constant learning.
So if you're looking at gettinginto business, if you're looking
at getting into real estate,it's relationships first,
constant growth and education ofyourself.
And then also how do youcontinue to nurture
relationships long term.
Milly (07:03):
Wow.
Thank you.
That's great.
Wow.
That was really good.
Thank you so much.
