(00:02):
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.
Welcome to another episode of Live Chat with James coming to
you from the studios here in Vancouver, BC Here at the Profit
Studios side, we are paying attention to a lot of the
headlines that we're going to bediscussing, but in particular,
of course, the passing of musical legend Ozzy Osbourne.
Yes, that Prince of Darkness haspassed away at the age of 76.

(00:26):
He has been suffering from several illnesses and dealing
with chronic pain and the need to have others assist him in
most daily activities. It was just recent that he
performed his last concert and that was very much satisfied
with the ability to be able to be before his fans in one last

(00:49):
showing. Of course we know that the world
of social media has blown up with memes and tributes to the
one and only Osborne. And of course that those have
come from not only fans, but also other musicians who had the
pleasure of working with Ozzy over the years.

(01:10):
Or even musicians who were inspired by his unique stylings
and the unique music that he brought out.
Not just as a solo artist, but of course as the lead singer and
founder of the band Black Sabbath.
Now the world is reeling over this news, but again, it really
shouldn't come as a huge surprise.

(01:30):
But what it should do is allow us to know that Aussie is at
least at peace and that he is nolonger suffering.
As you can see here on the screen that there is just a
complete flooding of the Internet, whether it's
Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, all of the above.

(01:54):
The tributes are just pouring infor Ozzy Osbourne.
Our thoughts and our prayers of course, are with the Osborne
family today as they move forward trying to adjust into
this new reality without the Prince of Darkness at their
side. On Thursday night.
I also wanted to let you know that we will have a very special

PM Mountain Standard Time. And if you want to call in and
share your memories with the with the audience and talk about
Ozzy Osbourne, it will be again Thursday night on Prime Time
Live. And so moving on, folks, more,

(04:50):
more news to cover in the show tonight.
And of course, we are looking atthe most recent idiotic tweet by
Trump. Now he has claimed that the US
government has reached a trade agreement with Japan, which is
very interesting because he alsobrings up the fact of investment

(05:12):
into the US. So here, I'm going to pull up
his actual tweet this evening that he has shared and I'll read
it for anyone who may not be able to see it on their screen,
as I know sometimes if you're onyour phone, the screen shares
can come up a little small to beable to make it out.
Excuse me, It's. So here we go.

(05:34):
We just completed a massive dealwith Japan, perhaps the largest
deal ever made. Japan will invest, at my
direction, $550 billion into theUnited States, which will
receive 90% of the profits. How is the US going to get 90%
of the profits? And let's look at it further.

(05:56):
This deal will create hundreds of thousands of jobs.
There is never been anything like it.
Perhaps more importantly, Japan will open their country to
trade, including cars and trucks, rice and certain other
agricultural products and other things.
Japan will pay reciprocal tariffs to the United States of
15%. This is a very exciting time for

(06:19):
the United States of America andespecially for the fact that we
will continue to always have a great relationship with the
country of Japan. And of course, thank you for
your attention to this matter. I don't know why he puts that at
the end of his tweets and messages.
The guys just a freaking. Now, let's break this down a
bit. First of all, at his direction,

(06:41):
Japan's going to invest $550 billion because Trump directed
them to. I call bullshit on that.
Now he also goes on to say that the US will receive 90% of the
profits. Then what is the incentive for
Japan to invest that $550 billion?

(07:01):
It does not make any sense whatsoever.
Followed by the fact that he claims that Japan will pay
reciprocal tariffs on top of that to the United States of
15%. So essentially, they are going
to be paying the US to allow to invest in the country and the US
gets to keep 105% of the profitsessentially because you've got

(07:25):
the 90% of profits plus a 15% tariff that apparently China is
going to pay or sorry, Japan is going to put pay to Trump in the
US government. This is ludicrous.
It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
I'm curious if Japan actually knows that they've agreed to any
type of deal. And this is again, Donald Trump

(07:47):
at his best to put news out there, to try to distract you
from the fact that he is all over the Epstein files that his
administration is shut down for essentially for the summer
break. And of course, trying to pray to
the to the media gods that by the time they come back in

(08:08):
September, the Epstein file willhave blown past and other
things. They'll be top of mind, which of
course, he is going to be determined between now and then
to create a new narrative and a new crisis that the media we'll
focus on instead of the fact that they are redacting, they
are editing. And in my opinion, they're
probably creating fraudulent copies of the Epstein documents.

(08:33):
They're probably making changes and adding things to the files
or just, you know, finding its way to the shredder on other
documents. And that's my personal opinion
of it. I think that he is the most
corrupt president in the historyof the world, especially when it
comes to the US. And I think that he needs to be
impeached and removed from office, but that's a decision

(08:56):
for the US taxpayers to make, not for me.
But again, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
And believe me, I don't want to even put hands on him to throw
them because of the fact I'd be covered in orange makeup.
So the point being is that I call bullshit on this
announcement by Donald Trump on his new tariff announcement and

(09:18):
trade agreement announcement with Japan.
Absolutely ridiculous. Now let's move on to other
headlines here in Vancouver. Big news as the Filipino
community is still reeling from the impacts of the of the

(09:38):
tragedy at the Filipino festival.
And this comes in as the accusedwho ran down and killed many
people at the festival and injured others has now been
charged with three more accountsof a second degree murder.
And that was up from the initial8.
There are ongoing discussions about at the accused mental

(10:00):
health in his suitability to stand trial and those those
reports are ongoing and assessment.
So we'll watch and see what happens there.
But again, the the Filipino festival attacker has now been
additionally charged with three more counts of second degree
murder. Our late night liquor store

(10:21):
service in Vancouver is gonna bechanging.
Vancouver City Council has approved extending liquor
service hours in the downtown core until 4:00 AM.
This is aiming to boost the local economy and nightlife.
Concerns have been raised regarding the potential impacts
on health and of course transit.Nothing is said there about

(10:43):
safety and security, but I'm sure that will be looked into as
well. An update in the teen stabbing
death of a 15 year old Surrey male in Vancouver, BC.
The individual was was stabbed and deceased at Robson Square or
near Robson Square in Vancouver.A 17 year old suspect has been

(11:06):
arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing.
Apparently he had turned himselfin in to a patrol officer in his
area. So again a an individual has
been charged or at least is in custody at this point.
He has not been formally chargedyet by the Crown as the

(11:29):
investigation is ongoing, but atthis time, he is in custody.
And as we look at other news in the Metro Vancouver area, Paul
Mockery, who is the city managerof the City of Vancouver, has
tendered his resignation. He's been the city manager since
April 2021 and he's resigned from his position.

(11:53):
Mayor Ken SIM issued A brief statement confirming his
departure, stating it was a mutual agreement that it was the
right time for a leadership change.
Mockery has been with the city for 14 years, holding various
roles including general manager of human resource services and
deputy city manager before assuming the top administration

(12:13):
post. Deputy City Manager Karen Levitt
has been named as acting city manager during the transition
period. The kids pool reservation
system. Let's take a talk about that.
The outdated reservation system for the Kitsilano pool is at the
heart of a growing dispute between the Vancouver Parks
Board and Merican Sims office. The system implemented during

(12:38):
the COVID-19 pandemic, has been criticized for leading to
underutilization of the popular outdoor pool, with many
residents reporting difficultiesin securing swimming slots.
The park board is reportedly considering ending or
significantly revamping the system, a move that aligns with
public sentiment but highlights ongoing performance.

(13:01):
Sorry government tensions between the two civic bodies.
Therapy animals are big news coming out of the Vancouver
International Airport, where if you have flown in and out of
YVR, you may have seen the therapy dogs that helped to calm
pastors who are suffering from anxiety and stress.
Now they are expanding this popular program that is known as

(13:25):
the Less Airport Stress Initiative Animal Therapy
Program, or Lassie. This is going to be extended to
include therapy ponies named Magic and Tinkerbell, these two
miniature horses. He'll join the existing team of
therapy dogs offering a unique approach to providing emotional
support and comfort to anxious travelers.

(13:46):
YVR is reportedly the first airport in Canada.
They introduced therapy ponies as part of its passenger
well-being initiative. If you have run into the therapy
dogs at the Vancouver International Airport or therapy
animals and other airports, by all means they've comments down
below. Let us know what you thought of
it and how your interaction withthose animals, with the support

(14:09):
animals help to alleviate some of your stress or anxiety of
traveling. I'd love to hear about it so
share down in the comment section now.
Tonight marks the second night of the Honda, Sorry Honda
celebration of Light fireworks festival over English Bay in
Vancouver. This evening's display will
feature a pyrotechnic team from Quebec following Saturday's

(14:32):
inaugural show by Yukon. Large crowds are anticipated in
the City of Vancouver is put in place extensive Rd. closures in
downtown, the West End, Stanley Park and Kitsilano.
So be aware that they are particularly careful and shut
down and restricted along Beach Ave. and Davie St. from 6:00 PM

(14:55):
to midnight. But again, just plan ahead.
If you are planning on parking and maybe a corporate lot or a
public lot for paid parking, tryto get down there early as
parking will be at a premium. Also consider that public
transit and active transportation such as walking
or biking or highly recommended.Once again, of course, transit

(15:19):
puts on extra buses for the amazing accounts of people who
show up down at the Celebration of Light Fireworks Festival.
Also, you can add to that that the event is happening right
down in English base, so there are a lot of eateries and other
places. If you go down early, make an
evening of it, have a drink, have some food.

(15:42):
One place that I would highly recommend, right down by the
laughing statues there is Shakira Helis Co, a Mexican
restaurant. Very authentic, an amazing food
at reasonable prices, something hard to find in the city of
Vancouver. So again, check out Shakira
Hillis, go down in English Bay, enjoy your evening, stay safe

(16:06):
and remember there's going to bea lot of people, so plan
accordingly. Now let's take a look at some
national headlines. Canada, U.S. trade talks are
ongoing. Prime Minister my Mark Carney
and the provincial premiers are holding crucial meetings to
discuss the ongoing trade negotiations with the United
States. This comes ahead of the August

(16:28):
1st deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump, who has
threatened tariffs if a new agreement does not reach.
Carney is reiterated that his government will only sign a deal
that's in the best interest of the Canadians and has expressed
A willingness to take stock and consider alternative paths if a
beneficial agreement isn't achieved, indicating the

(16:50):
complexity and high stakes of the discussion.
Now let's also consider the factthat Donald Trump has sent these
letters out to nations all over, but in that that he's also added
a caveat to those letters that he can change the terms of
tariffs or trade agreements at any time, given the relationship
between the US and the targeted country.

(17:14):
This again is Donald Trump's wayof saying that basically, even
though we may agree on terms, don't think that that's going to
just sit there and be the the end all, be all of the trade
agreement. Again, he is very clear in the
fact that he will be able to change any of the terms of the

(17:37):
trade agreements on a whim. And that of course, creates
instability in international trade and international markets,
something that Donald Trump obviously thrives on creating
chaos around the world. Now, he has come under this
false understanding that he is the dictator and leader of the
of the world and that is the furthest from the case.

(18:00):
Instead, what he's doing is alienating allies and pushing
away trade partners. He has also alienated a lot of
the tourism industry, not just from Canada, but around the
world. People do not want to travel to
the United States where they fear they could be locked up on
a whim of ICE agents and sent toGuantanamo Bay or anywhere else

(18:21):
that the Trump administration and his departments decide to
send them. Again, it is impacting the US
economy by billions of dollars each month and Donald Trump just
does not get the message. And this is also going to be
impacted even further as the US is going to be implementing a

(18:41):
$250 US visa integrity fee that'll be coming up.
We don't know when that's going to be coming in, but it could be
as early as this fall. So it'll cost you another $250
to travel into the US to spend money and contribute to their
economy. A lot of people are not going to
be willing to do so. According to the US government,

(19:04):
there is a refund policy that ifyou comply with the visa
regulations and the stipulations, then you can apply
for a refund of that $250. How that process would work,
nobody seems to know. And that's just a general
consensus of every policy that Trump brings in.

(19:24):
Nobody knows how it's going to work, nobody knows how it's
going to be accountable to the people, and nobody really gives
a shit because they are instead finding other locations to
travel as a holiday destinations.
May I suggest Mexico, Puerto Vallarta?
Go down to Cuba. Cuba from Canada is beautiful
trip. You know there's just so many

(19:46):
different places to go. If you're looking for something
else, try the Philippines. Try Malaysia.
Malaysia is an amazingly beautiful country.
They are very friendly and they are always open to welcoming
tourists. So again, you can look at where
your dollar will go further for tourism, where you can check out
amazing, amazing natural landscapes.

(20:09):
Wildlife just so much to do in other nations.
It doesn't have to be Disneylandin the US where you are
overpaying for everything. So again, it is up to you where
you spend your tourism dollars. But again, I would suggest other
countries that are outside of the US if you are more inclined

(20:32):
to winter skiing. Remember here in Metro Vancouver
we have a lot of local mountainsfor skiing, snowboarding and
other activities. And just an hour and a half the
highway you can find yourself inthe world class Whistler and
Black Home Resort. So again, you have a lot of
options out there. And believe me, here in Canada
we are more than happy to welcome tourists from around the

(20:55):
globe. We take great pride in welcoming
people, whether it's for international events going back
to the Expo in 1986, the Winter Games in 2020 or sorry, 2010, or
other events that have been happening here over decades of
really catering to the tourism and travel industry.

(21:17):
So remember, we'd love to have you come to Vancouver or other
parts of Canada that are just amazing to visit.
Other than that, folks, let's move on here from that and talk
about North Korea now or North Korean IT workers are becoming a
concern. Yes, it sounds odd, but here in

(21:40):
Canada they have issued a publicsecurity alert regarding efforts
by North Korea to exploit companies by having its IT
workers pose as legitimate remote freelancers from other
countries. The RCMP, the Royal Canadian
Mounted Police has warned that hiring such individuals is not
only illegal due to international sanctions, but

(22:01):
also exposes companies to significant risks of corporate
espionage, data theft and the inadvertent funding of North
Korea's prohibited weapons program.
The alert highlights are red flags such as requests for
cryptocurrency payments, multiple logins from various IP
addresses and an unwillingness to provide proper

(22:22):
identification. So be very aware of that.
You can also be cautious about hiring through online apps where
you are looking for workers to just to contract or piece work.
Again, be careful that you are not exposing yourself to the
risks of dealing with North Korean IT professionals.

(22:43):
Once again, a very high risk andwarning that's been issued by
the Royal Canadian Mounted Police once again.
We did discuss the fact that Ozzy Osbourne has passed.
The legendary rock icon widely known as the Prince of Darkness
and the lead singer of Black Sabbath has passed away at the
age of 76. His family released a statement

(23:04):
confirming his death, stating that he was with family and
surrounded by love. Osborne's passing marks the end
of an era for heavy metal music, leaving behind a profound legacy
once again. On Chess FM and Jess TV Thursday
night at 8:00 PM Mountain Standard Time, we will be doing
a special edition of Prime Time Live where you will be able to

(23:26):
interact with the program through a live call in or
through WhatsApp and of course through traditional chat as
well. And we will be talking about the
life, the legacy and the man whowas Ozzy Osbourne at your
experiences, your memories, and anything else that you want to
talk about on that subject. So again, that's Thursday night

(23:46):
on Jess FM and Jess TV based in Lethbridge, but join us from
anywhere in the world. SFM That's Jess fm.ca for more
details. Measle cases are continuing to
spread across Canada, with reported cases extending beyond
the previously identified outbreaks in Alberta and

(24:08):
Ontario. This ongoing rise in cases is
prompting renewed public health warnings and emphasizes the
importance of vaccination to prevent further transmission of
the highly contagious disease. And yes, there are multiple
cases also reported here in British Columbia.
The voting age debate, yes, thatis back.

(24:29):
A Canadian senator is actively advocating for lowering the
federal voting age to 16 years old and drawing inspiration from
a similar recent move by the United Kingdom.
Senator Mary Lou Mcphedran argues that extending voting
rights to 16 and 17 year olds islogical and about fairness given

(24:51):
that many in this age group are employed and paying taxes and
decisions made today will significantly impact near future
promote. Proponents argue that it would
strengthen can Canadian democracy and increase youth
engagement. On the other side, people are
arguing that the maturity level and and interaction with

(25:13):
politics for those of 16 and 17 years of age may be too soon.
They think that the current voting age is more than
adequate. So we'll watch and see how that
develops. But yeah, it's going to be an
interesting one. Let us know what you think.
Should Canada lower the voting age the 16 years or should they
leave it where it is? Let us know.

(25:34):
Share your thoughts below in thecomment section.
Sad news out Of Montreal A tragic incident in upstate New
York has led to the death of a nine year old by the name of
Melina Fretilin from Montreal. Her and her father, Luciano
Fretilin has he has been chargedsorry with her murder.

(25:59):
So it was an intentional drowning and that is very sad to
hear. Preliminary autopsy results
confirm that Millennia's cause of death was asphyxiated
drowning, classifying it as a homicide.
The father had initially reported his daughter as
missing, claiming an an abduction, but inconsistencies

(26:19):
in his story LED investigators to focus on him, and Melina's
body was later found in a shallow pond, concealed by a
log. Sad news indeed.
The RCMP are facing budget cuts.Yes, proposed budget cuts for
the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are expected to
necessitate difficult decisions that will directly impact on the

(26:42):
ground investigations. While specific details of the
cuts are still emerging, concerns are being raised by
frontline officers about potential reductions in
overtime, travel budgets and discretionary expenses, which
could hinder the Forces ability to effectively pursue ongoing
and future criminal investigations, including those

(27:02):
targeting organized crime. Looking around the world now at
the Gaza conflict, Updates of The humanitarian situation in
Gaza has been described as dire by the Red Cross, with experts
warning of imminent famine. Canada, along with 24 other
countries, has signed a joint statement demanding an immediate

(27:22):
end to the conflict and calling on Israel to lift all
restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The statement also condemns Avazfor holding hostages and
highlights the horrifying numberof Palestinian civilians killed
while seeking aid, urging for safe and effective access for UN

(27:43):
and humanitarian NGO's, and shifting over to Russia and
Ukraine. Diplomatic efforts to resolve
the ongoing conflict continue, with the Ukrainian president and
Vladimir Zelensky recently suggesting a fresh round of
peace talks with Bosco next weekto revive a ceasefire efforts.
However, Russia maintains that will only engage in negotiations

(28:07):
if its objectives are met, whichreportedly include strict
territorial demands and an end it to Western military support
for Ukraine. The United States has also
reportedly pressured Russia witha 50 day deadline to reach a
peace agreement or face severe economic consequences.
At this point, though, I seriously doubt that Vladimir

(28:29):
Putin takes Trump or anything hesays seriously.
And I believe that as Trump is apuppet of Putin, Putin just has
to stick his hand back up DonaldTrump's ass to move his lips to
say something totally different. And that's exactly what I think
we'll see in 50 days. I don't think Trump has the
balls or the consider the the the mental capacity to actually

(28:54):
do anything in terms of putting severe economic consequences
against Russia when he has been actually lifting sanctions
against individuals. So again, it is really a paradox
to the whole rest of the world, a Bangladesh pain plane crash
that we had spoken about, I believe briefly last night.

(29:17):
Hundreds of students in Bangladesh are protesting and
demanding transparency from the government following a recent
plane crash that killed at least31 people, many of whom were
students. The crash involving a Bangladesh
Air Force jet has raised questions about accountability
and the handling of information, with students expressing
concerns about missing individuals and the lack of

(29:40):
clear details regarding the casualties and the ongoing
investigation into the cause of the accident.
For those that don't recall, theplane actually crashed into a
school while it was in session, claiming the lives of students.
Now in Japan, there's a political crisis, which is
interesting to see that there isa political crisis.

(30:02):
While Donald Trump is stating that the government is
committing to the hundreds of billions of dollars of
investment in the US, allowing the US to keep most of the
profits. Doesn't make sense.
But Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba vowed to remain
in power despite his ruling conditions failure to secure a

(30:24):
majority in the upper house election.
Now his Liberal Democratic Partyand its junior coalition partner
Comido fell short of the 50 seats needed to retain their
majority, losing 19 seats from their previous count.
Excuse me? This marks the first time the

(30:44):
LDP LED coalition has lost a majority in both Houses of
Parliament since the party's formation in 1955, deepening
political instability as Japan grapples with rising prices and
lagging economy and high US tariffs.
Trump and Epstein, yes, and new photos in raw video footage of
reportedly surfaced, raising fresh, sorry, fresh questions

(31:08):
about Donald Trump's past association with the convicted
sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Among the revelations is a
previously unseen photograph showing Epstein attending
Trump's 1993 wedding to Marla Maples at their New York Plaza
Hotel. Other footage from a 1999
Victoria's Secret Fashion show reportedly shows Trump and

(31:30):
Epstein in conversation. These new images are reigniting
public discussions and scrutiny of their relationship,
particularly in light of Epstein's subsequent legal
trouble. Let's also keep in mind that the
Congress has recessed for the summer break instead of holding
out for a few more days and bringing to the floor a vote on

(31:50):
the release of the Epstein documents.
Yeah, let's take a look at the UNESCO.
Once again, the US is looking towithdraw. the United States is
reportedly set to withdraw from the United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization for the third time
in its history and for the second time under, you guessed

(32:13):
it, a Trump administration. This decision, expected to take
effect in December 2026, signalsand renewed shift towards an
isolationist foreign policy. The move is seen as a blow to
international collaboration in education, culture and science,
potentially limiting US influence in gold global

(32:34):
initiatives and leaving a void in funding for various programs.
Now, in closing, we will take a look quickly here to Greece.
Yes, the first or sorry. A major forest fire has broken
out near the Greek city of Corinth, prompting authorities
to order the evacuation of several villages.

(32:55):
More than 180 firefighters, reported by 15 planes and 12
helicopters, are battling the blaze in a pine forest amid
challenging weather conditions, with temperatures soaring to
around 40°C or 104°F. There have been no immediate
reports of casualties, but the situation remains critical as
Greece enters its annual dry, hot summer period.

(33:18):
And of course, they are prone towildfires.
We are still seeing wildfires burning across Canada, so again,
we understand how the impact of wildfires can bring challenges
to their country and the people. So our best wishes go to all of
the Greek people and especially those in and around the city of

(33:39):
Corinth. So our thoughts are with you.
Well folks, that is it for another live episode of Live
Chat with James at the Tropic Studios here in Metro Vancouver,
BC. We haven't had anybody log in to
chat with us in the chat box, but again, by all means, you're

(34:00):

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
