If we choose our life paths before we’re born, why would we choose difficult ones? Because contrast is at the root of all our human experiences, so we’ll know what we return to when we leave the body each lifetime. Today, we’ll look at Karma and Contrast to understand why it’s core to everything we want to learn.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
If we choose our life paths before we're born, why
would we choose difficult ones?
Because contrast is at the rootof all our human experiences,
so we'll know what we return towhen we leave the body each
lifetime.
Today, we'll look at karma andcontrast to understand why it's

(00:21):
core to everything we want tolearn.
Hi, I'm Corbie Mitleid, andthis is the Psychic Yellow Brick
Road.
The world is changing and lifedoesn't have the spark it used
to, so we look around and askwhere do I need to go to catch
the magic?
Again?
You've found it.

(00:41):
Welcome to the Psychic YellowBrick Road, a weekly podcast
that delves into the intuitiveworld, metaphysics, life purpose
and how to connect with thecompassion of spirituality.
I'm Corbie Mitleid and I'vebeen on the Psychic Yellow Brick
Road for 50 years.
I'm a Certified Tarot Master, past life specialist, psychic
medium channel and author and, most importantly, I'm an Elder

(01:04):
in the field, ready to pass oneverything I've discovered to
you.
So let's hit that PsychicYellow Brick Road where you can
find the real wizards and avoidthe flying monkeys.
Soul Plans, Karma and Contrast.
What is contrast?

(01:25):
Contrast is when two things areso very different from each
other that the differences areimmediately noticeable.
A white room will contrast witha black room.
A barren desert will contrastwith a rainforest, a sunny day
will contrast with a stormy one.
A healthy person will contrastwith an invalid.

(01:47):
Contrast is at the core of oursoul plan experiences, because
we come from a place where allis one, all is connected,
outside of time and space.
We learn a lot of core lessonsin a body that is subject to
duality, time, space andseparation from all that is.
That is, until we remember thatwe are truly all part of the

(02:11):
one.
You can't know joy if there'sno sorrow.
You can't know peace unlessyou've experienced its lack,
whether through worry, war orchaos.
In that sense, every soul plancontains the goal of contrast,
along with any of its otherobjectives.
When we choose contrast as amajor goal in our soul plan,

(02:34):
it's probably part of our greatstudy, sometimes called a grand
cycle.
Let's assume that a soul wantsto study compassion.
It may go through a series oflives where its life is full of
love and kindness, both givenand received.
It may then go through liveswhere very little compassion is
available from others and it hasto make its way in the world

(02:56):
without the kindness andstability that compassion brings
.
The soul may then do a thirdseries of lives where it has
very little compassion for otherbeings or circumstances, to
study how that affects its ownlife situations.
When the soul has completedthis grand cycle of learning,

(03:17):
it's brought back a true view ofhow compassion works in the
material world.
Has karma also been created inthese lives, in the other
matters?
Yes, more than likely, but thegrand cycle of contrast is the
most important on the karmicroad.
Let's look at some examples.

(03:38):
Karmic road let's look at someexamples.
If a soul wants to examine theentire view around abundance and
trusting the universe, it mighthave a series of lives like
this A life as a Benedictinemonk, where abundance is
relative, monks having verylittle in the way of material
possessions, but the assurancethat God has matters in hand, as
long as you believe the rightway, is very strong.
A life as a stockbroker in the1920s where huge amounts of

(04:02):
money made in the early part ofthe decade disappear like smoke
in 1929, giving a very strongcontrast around having versus
not having.
Three successive lives inRussia: One as a member of the
wealthy ruling class, one as amember of the serf class and one
in the communist Soviet Union, where all is supposed to be

(04:23):
equally distributed.
Finally, perhaps, a life in theAmerican West, in a First
Nations or Native American tribewho believes that major
celebrations should be held witha potlatch, where the
celebrating party gives awayvirtually everything they own.
If a soul wants to examine thetrue nature of courage, it might

(04:44):
go like this A life as a memberof the European Crusader Force,
where they fight Saracens, believing that it is God's will,
and they are terrified of beingsent to hell.
A life as a Jew in aconcentration camp, facing death
after years of abuse at thehands of the Nazis.
A person in Salem,Massachusetts, who points

(05:05):
accusatory fingers at othermembers of the community because
they are frightened they mightbe accused of witchcraft
themselves.
A person facing a terminaldiagnosis of a disease at an
early age.
A person who, having the chanceto die on the operating table
after a serious accident, chooses to come back and live
their lives in a very damagedbody.

(05:27):
Or perhaps a person who mustchoose whether or not to run
into a burning building to saveloved ones, with all of the
ensuing consequences of guilt, injury and possible failure.
And if a soul wants to examineself-love and self-worth, these
are life paths it might choose Achild who chooses a path not

(05:49):
requiring education when therest of the family has graduate
degrees.
A male member of a society thatdevalues the opposite sex is a
matter of course.
A person whose chosen careerdepends completely on other
people's judgment of their worth.
A person born into a societythat, as a whole, believes that

(06:10):
self-loathing and humility isthe way to grace.
A person born into adysfunctional family that can
only maintain dominance bycutting down the other family
members.
Or an orphan or child abandonedin its early years by parents
who don't want it.
Now notice that the soul cancome in on either side of the

(06:34):
question abundant or in want, incourage or in fear, in
self-worth or self-judgment.
How the soul deals with thesetup of its life path, the
scripting, blocking andcharacter development, is what
will bring the lessons back tothe soul once the incarnation is
finished.
Contrast is guaranteed to bepart of your life path.

(06:58):
As well as the examples I'vejust given you, we could talk
about power or curiosity orintelligence.
Anything that has an oppositeor contrast can be studied by
the soul as a fascinatingproject.
But all of the examinationswork to bring the soul back to a
better understanding of loveand oneness.

(07:20):
In the end, that's the onecosmic truth, and all of the
contrasts that are experiencedwithin a soul's incarnation are
to assist that soul in trulyfully appreciating that which it
experiences in the infinite, timeless embrace of the One from
which all proceeds.
