Service to others is a fundamental part of who we are
as full souls.
Today, we'll examine how thatcan be some of the most
meaningful karma we choose.
Hi, I'm Corbie Mitleid and thisis the Psychic Yellow Brick
Road.
The world is changing and lifedoesn't have the spark it used

(00:21):
to, so we look around and askwhere do I need to go to catch
the magic again?
You've found it.
Welcome to the Psychic YellowBrick Road, a weekly podcast
that delves into the intuitiveworld, metaphysics, life purpose
and how to connect with thecompassion of spirituality.
I'm Corbie Mitleid and I'vebeen on the Psychic Yellow Brick
Road for 50 years.

(00:42):
I'm a Certified Tarot Master, past life specialist, psychic
medium, channel, and author and, most importantly, I'm an Elder
in the field, ready to pass oneverything I've discovered to
you.
So let's hit that PsychicYellow Brick Road where you can
find the real wizards and avoidthe flying monkeys.

(01:12):
Soul Plans Karma as Service.
Service is one of the biggestkarmic lessons that people put
in their pre-birth plan, and forgood reason.
Service can be given in dozensof different ways, some of which
may not look like it on thesurface.
Lightworkers, those whose livesare primarily about service,
are the clearest end of thatpart of the karmic spectrum.
But souls can choose forthemselves difficult lives,

(01:33):
emotional roller coasters, poverty, addiction, trauma and
they too can be fulfilling akarma of service.
How does that work?
Well, service in its simplestform can be helping our fellows
in a way that's easy to see.
Someone who is a group leaderfor troubled teens has service
karma.

(01:53):
Someone who chooses to work inenvironmental conservation has
service karma.
So does a physician, or evensomeone who is a member of the
royal household in England.
But service can also be playedout served, if you will through
life challenges and occurrencesthat look nothing like service
to the average pair of eyes.

(02:14):
Here are some examples.
I had a friend in Colorado manyyears ago who had twin boys,
Mark and Leo.
Leo was subject to abuse as achild and had a severe case of
shaken baby syndrome.
He was profoundly damaged inthat violent event.
Yet though he couldn't speak, couldn't do much for himself at

(02:35):
all, the vibrant, shining soulwas everywhere evident.
All of his health care teamremarked on how extraordinary
Leo was.
People who were afraid ofillness or who couldn't look at
a handicapped person withoutrevulsion found themselves drawn
to Leo.
The usual distaste replaced bywonder and a feeling of

(02:57):
connection.
Leo could look at a personright down to their core, with
no judgment, just curiosity andwelcome.
People's lives were changed byinteraction with Leo, a little
lion if there ever was one.
Leo's karma of service wasperformed by bringing people out
of fear into love, out ofrevulsion into compassion.

(03:20):
He also happened to be one ofthe finest teachers his physical
therapy team could have had, somehow encouraging them to work
with him a little longer, alittle harder than they might
with another child at his injurylevel.
Even those who challenge us mostfiercely, the people that may
be thorns in our side or neverletting us off the hook for

(03:41):
certain things, can be ofservice, even putting their own
soul growth aside, to play arole that helps us fulfill our
pre-birth planning.
My client, Janine's mother wasa product of the South in the
1950s, believing that her rolein life was to support her
husband, raise her children andnever allow her own yearnings to

(04:02):
conflict with her husband's.
That included making money.
She always reminded Janine it'sbetter to marry a millionaire
than make your own money.
It's not ladylike.
Even though Janine did wellwith things like Girl Scout
cookie sales and working apart-time job in high school her
mother told her that suchthings didn't amount to much and

(04:22):
she shouldn't believe it meantanything.
She had succeeded becausepeople felt sorry for her,
because she wasn't pretty enoughfor a rich man to marry.
When Janine's mother wasapproached by a local food
manufacturer regarding her gumborecipe, which had garnered many
awards statewide for over adecade, she not only refused to
have her face or name on thelabel, but also had her husband,

(04:45):
a factory worker, sign thecontract, believing that for her
to do anything of such anindependent nature would
overshadow him.
As a result, when the parentsdivorced a few years later, what
could have been a comfortablenest egg for Janine's mother was
merely money that the fathertook as part of his settlement.
Janine watched this anddetermined that the message was

(05:08):
wrong, and became a patent andintellectual property attorney
that specifically helps womenand minorities to get the fair
dealings they deserve In thissituation.
Not only was Janine's motherlearning important lessons
regarding self-worth inpre-birth planning sessions, she
and Janine also agreed that itwould be pivotal to bring Janine

(05:31):
into the service-oriented lifeshe planned into the
service-oriented life sheplanned.
Even an early demise can be partof one's service Souls as
different as Anne Frank, NathanHale and Steve Biko, all of whom
became famous for thecircumstances surrounding their
deaths and what they stood forwhile they lived, come in with

(05:51):
the agreement and understandingthat their deaths will be of
service to those who seek tochange the world in positive
ways.
My personal favorite examplecomes from Ryan White.
Ryan was an average 13-year-oldboy who, through a bad blood
transfusion, contracted AIDS in1984.
This was in the very early daysof the epidemic, when little

(06:14):
was known about AIDS and it wasassumed that it was gotten
through gay sexual contact.
Ryan's entire family was madepariahs in their town.
Ryan had to fight to be allowedto go to school.
Yet somehow in all this theymet Elton John, who was deeply
moved by Ryan's compassion forothers and positive attitude

(06:36):
throughout the whole ordeal.
He effectively adopted them andsupported them throughout
Ryan's illness.
When Ryan died at age 18, Eltonplayed at his funeral.
Ryan's courage so stirred Eltonthat he went into rehab getting
off drugs and alcohol, and whenhe came out he started the

(06:57):
Elton John AIDS Foundation, which has raised over half a
billion dollars for AIDSresearch worldwide.
Finally, only a few monthsafter Ryan's death, the United
States Congress passed the RyanWhite Comprehensive AIDS
Resources Emergency Act, calledCARE in August of 1990.

(07:24):
Many people thinking karma isbad and good, would have said oh
see, ryan must have beensomeone awful in a past life.
Look at what happened to himnow.
But the truth is that Ryan'ssoul, his higher self, looked at
the possibilities of that typeof incarnation and said it's a
tough life and a short one, butlook at the good for the world
that can come out of it.
And so we see his life as onewith a karma of service.

(07:48):
Look at your own life carefully.
Look with a non-judgmental eyeat the people who have been in
your life, even those who havebrought the most difficulty with
them.
If you look carefully, youmight find that these people
came in with a karmic agreementof service for you to help you
attain your highest good.

(08:08):
And when you are indifficulties, when you are
having hard lessons to learn, realize that as you overcome
them, you may be an example toothers, thereby fulfilling a
karma of service to them as well.
