Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to another episode of the Quiet Warrior
podcast.
As I record this, it's two daysto Christmas and I've yet to
confirm what's on the menu forour Christmas dinner.
I've never been big oncelebrations and traditions.
Maybe it goes back to growingup in a family where anything
fun or festive was seen as hardwork, an inconvenience, one more

(00:22):
chore rather than a time ofenjoyment.
In our group coaching call lastweek inside the Visible
Introvert Academy, I asked myclients this question what are
you celebrating in 2024?
And it's interesting how most ofus are taken by surprise when
asked this question and have totake a few minutes to think

(00:43):
about it, to journal about it.
Maybe it's because we're notused to turning the spotlight on
ourselves.
Maybe we grew up being toldthat feeling proud about our own
achievements was bad.
We should be humble.
Maybe it's because our idea ofcelebration is external Buy the
turkey and ham, decorate theChristmas tree, shop for

(01:04):
Christmas presents, make sureeverything is perfect.
Maybe it's because we're justnot used to reflecting on
ourselves, on what's inside ofus, and connecting with a sense
of whether we are on the righttrack for ourselves.

(01:25):
As an introvert, I like to lookinside myself regularly and ask
how have I grown?
What new thing did I learn ordo?
What went well?
What went badly?
What am I most proud of myselffor?
I invite you to get your penand journal out and reflect on

(01:46):
these questions.
You may surprise yourself withhow much you've grown and how
much there is to celebrate In2024, the Quiet Warrior podcast,
thanks to your support, made itinto the top 10% of podcasts
worldwide, and my aspirationalgoal for 2025 is to get it into

(02:09):
the top 5% so that more and moreintroverts and highly sensitive
people and quiet achievers canfeel seen and heard.
Another thing I'm really proudof is that my younger child
finished her VCE successfullyand is awaiting her first round
of uni offers, and thatrepresents a new phase in life

(02:33):
for all of us as a family, andfor me in particular.
No more school lunches, no moreschool runs, no more having to
check the school app to find outwhether reports in assignments
have been sent off.
Everything has been donecorrectly what's the latest in
the school newsletter, and it'sgoing to be an interesting

(02:55):
season, an interesting space, and I'm quite excited for it.
I think something else alsohappened in 2024 that has
changed who I am quitesignificantly, and that is the
amount of inner work and healingI've been doing, not one

(03:16):
particular modality, but all ofthem.
So I'll give you an example InNovember and December I traveled
to Singapore and Vietnam.
And Singapore was for my mom's90th birthday celebration.
And I don't know if you haveAsian friends, if you're Asian

(03:36):
yourself and you mightunderstand the weight of
expectation that comes with ahuge occasion where all the
relatives are present, and thereare things that you have to do
and there are things that areexpected of you to do.
And I had no clue when I firstheard that there was going to be

(03:56):
this major celebration.
I had no clue how to go aboutit and what I was expected to do
and who to ask for help.
But along the way I did ask forhelp and I think that was one
of the best things I could havedone for myself.
And I also did a tremendousamount of preparation, inner

(04:17):
preparation, to deal with allthe unfinished business of the
past childhood baggage,childhood trauma.
I used every modality that Ihad access to Reiki, root cause
therapy, emotion code, emotioncode, essential oils, a remote

(04:43):
body scan from a coach inThailand, everything I tried it
all.
I read all the books, did allthe internal reflective work,
the journaling that was needed, faced my feelings, faced my
fears.
That was needed faced myfeelings, faced my fears.
And when the day came, I wassurprised at how aligned, how

(05:04):
intuitive and how much in flow Ihad become.
I was literally a differentperson from who I was the last
time I visited Singapore, sevenyears ago.
So my encouragement to you is ifyou have been on this path for
a while and you're finding itchallenging, or you're not
seeing results yet, stay thepath, keep doing the work.

(05:26):
It all adds up.
It's a cumulative process andit takes time to heal decades,
to unwind decades of hurt andresentment, misunderstandings,
miscommunication, wrong stories, even, and limiting beliefs,
whatever they are.
I encourage you to stick to thepath that you are on, to keep

(05:48):
doing the work, to keep healing,to keep peeling back those
layers and sitting with allparts of yourself welcoming all
of them, making room for all ofthem, listening to each one of
them.
It is worth the effort.
See you in 2025.
