Karin Spirn is a writer, teacher, and martial artist living in Oakland, California. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Michigan and has taught community college English for the past two decades. She also codirects Tuff Love Fitness, a nonprofit providing inclusive self-defense and martial arts training.
