Growing up in the rugged wilds of South Africa, Sophie didn’t have the luxury of a women's surf community around her. Instead, she taught herself how to surf and quickly developed a passion for the ocean that has shaped her life ever since. With a fearless approach, Sophie has earned a reputation for charging some of the heaviest barrels in the world, and her commitment to the sport led to an incredible invite to compete in the Vans Pipeline Masters.
Although an injury has recently forced her out of the water, Sophie’s mindset remains upbeat and inspiring. She shares how she’s staying positive during recovery, what drives her love for surfing, and what it means to push boundaries in a sport that demands both courage and resilience.
