They’re coming for you, Barbara…again!
The Rad Revival House returns to the Horror subgenre of zombie flicks with the low-budget undead masterpiece FLESHEATER!
Stephen Tumolo, aka The Analog Man (and old Penn State buddy to our host, Professor Cesare Augusto), returns to lend a helping hand in analyzing this 1988 gore-fest that combines the classic George A. Romero zombie flick with the decade’s slasher craze. A bevy of drunken, sex-starved teenagers (who else?) run afoul of flesh-hungry zombies that rise from the dead on Halloween night.
Written, directed, and starring Bill Hinzman (who played the very first zombie in the 1968 classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD), FLESHEATER revisits the zombie genre with a cheaper, but no-less effective approach. Cesare and Steve explore the film’s strong use of fake gore and vintage zombie makeup, the lengths Hinzman took to make the picture while avoiding a possible lawsuit from Romero and his camp, and how FLESHEATER stacks up against the era’s still-strong Slasher craze.
Budding Horror filmmakers looking to give the zombie picture the ol’ college try of low-budget, non-digital production are encouraged to absorb FLESHEATER for some bloody, over-the-top inspiration!
