Speaker 1 (00:04):
The Greatest of the
Greatest, of the Greatest of the
(00:25):
Greatest.
Hello and welcome back to theRadiant Mission podcast and the
Coffee Talk series.
I am your host, rebecca Toomey, and today we are tackling one
of the most fascinating andcontroversial topics dinosaurs.
(00:49):
You probably didn't think wewere going to go here, or maybe
you did.
If you know me, maybe you know, but if you didn't know is,
dinosaurs are controversial.
Guess what?
Welcome.
Welcome to the dinosaur chat, and this is an interesting one
because this is one that muchlike last episode I talked about
(01:10):
evolution and the big bang.
These are, these are thingsthat were taught as facts and we
don't question them.
What about dinosaurs?
From the time that we arelittle kids, we are shown images
of these giant reptiles thatonce roamed the earth millions
of years ago.
Museums, movies, textbooks theyall tell us that dinosaurs
(01:36):
lived long before humans andthen went extinct in some
dramatic event.
But I'm here to tell you I'm adinosaur skeptic, so this is
going to be a fun one and, please, this is lighthearted I'm
not trying to ruin your life bytelling you that dinosaurs are
(02:01):
not real, but I am here to talkabout what the Bible says about
dinosaurs.
So let's talk about that.
I actually believe that thedinosaur story that we see today
is a modern invention and thatit is designed to distract
people from the truth of God'sword and to push forward the lie
(02:26):
of evolution, that they go handin hand.
We're going to look a littlebit today about where this idea
came from and I'm going to giveyou some supporting evidence to
why I don't think that thisholds up and how the Bible gives
us a very different picturefrom what we're getting from
modern culture.
So let's talk a little bitabout the invention of quote
(02:49):
dinosaurs.
You may not realize this, butthe word dinosaur didn't exist
until 1841.
Before that, cultures worldwidespoke of dragons dragons in
legends and art and historicalrecords, and this is from Asia
to Europe to the Americas.
(03:10):
Dragons appeared over and over, but in the 1800s at the same.
This is where the irony andskepticism comes in.
At the same time that Darwin'stheory of evolution was
spreading, a handful ofscientists in England began
(03:32):
discovering evolution quote, discovering fossils and then
labeling them as creatures.
Separate prehistoric age.
The timing I do not believe wasan accident.
Evolution needed deep time andfantastical creatures to really
(03:56):
support its claims.
So dinosaurs really became theperfect prop.
All right, and you're probablyat this point like all right,
rebecca, you're crazy, this isnuts.
I'm going to give you ninereasons why I think that
dinosaurs are a hoax.
All right, so let's start with.
(04:17):
They were biased from thebeginning.
The first dinosaur discovererswere a very small group of
english academics, unitariansand deists who openly opposed
the bible, and their discoveries, I believe, were driven by
ideology and not by faith.
(04:37):
The next thing is where werethey before?
You know, if dinosaurs reallyroamed the earth in massive
numbers, ancient civilizationsshould have found thousands of
intact skeletons.
Instead, what we see in historyare dragon accounts, not
dinosaurs.
(04:59):
The third thing is that fossilrecords disprove evolution.
Evolution really requirescountless transitional forms,
but they are missing.
Dinosaurs were introduced tofill the gap, but no evidence
shows creatures transforminginto other species.
(05:20):
Next, we have speculativereconstructions.
Most dinosaurs are built from afew bone fragments and museums
and artists are filling in theblanks with imagination.
Fully intact skeletons arevirtually unknown, and I do have
(05:45):
some resources.
So if you're like, okay, you'rejust making this up, what are
you talking about?
Go to the show notes.
Go to the radiantmissioncomforward slash blog.
Look for this episode, episode157, in the show notes.
I have resources, check thefacts.
I got receipts Physiologicalimpossibilities.
(06:08):
Many of these supposed dinosaurscould not have functioned, like
literally could not havefunctioned.
Their weight would crush theirbodies, their hearts would have
needed to be impossibly largeand their diets that are made up
don't make sense for reptilephysiology as well.
And then that brings me tofraud and fabrication.
So from the 1800s onward, fakeshave plagued paleontology.
(06:32):
The Archeraptor fossilannounced by the National
Geographic in 1999, touted asthe missing link between birds
and dinosaurs, was later exposedto literally be a glued
together hoax.
It was totally fake.
Then there's the Osborneconnection fake.
(06:55):
Then there's the Osborneconnection Illuminati insider
Henry Fairfield Osborne, son ofa wealthy railroad tycoon,
played a huge role in shapingthe dinosaur narrative.
He invented.
Invented, yes, both theTyrannosaurus rex and the
Velociraptor and thevelociraptor, two of the most
(07:17):
famous dinosaurs in history.
Neither of these creatures evertruly existed, but thanks to
osborne's influence they becameicons.
And if you know aboutspielberg's jurassic park, they
have become immortalized.
And these movies didn't justentertain people, they cemented
the dinosaur myth in the mindsof millions of people.
So I have a hard time, y'all.
(07:40):
When I see the T-Rex, I'm likehold this together.
And then circular dating.
Fossils are dated by the rockstrata and the rock strata are
dated by the fossils, and that'scircular reasoning.
That is not objective science.
Lastly, replica skeletons.
Most dinosaur skeletons andmuseums today are replicas and
(08:03):
they're fabricated byprofessional companies.
The quote real fossils arehidden away in storage where no
one can see them.
They're inaccessible to outsideexperts who might expose the
fraud.
Okay, so if dinosaurs aren'treal and they don't exist and
people made all this stuff up,then what is this situation here
?
What's the deal?
(08:25):
The Bible actually does describesomething pretty crazy.
Instead of dinosaurs, the Bibledescribes dragons, and they are
mighty beasts.
Behemoth in Job 40 is a massiveland creature with bones like
bronze and a tail like a cedartree.
Leviathan in Job 41 is aterrifying sea creature that
(08:49):
breathed fire and smoke.
That breathed fire and smoke.
And then dragons Isaiah 27, 1,psalm 74, verses 13 through 14,
mighty serpents and sea monsters.
So these are not fairy tales.
They are inspired by scriptureand they do line up with dragon
accounts recorded acrosscultures for thousands of years,
(09:10):
across cultures for thousandsof years.
So I believe dinosaurs are adistraction.
Why is there this obsession withdinosaurs?
They serve the narrative ofevolution.
Dinosaurs just happen to veryconveniently provide the
(09:31):
timeline and the imagery and themythos needed to convince
people that the Bible is wrong.
From children's books toHollywood movies, dinosaurs are
dominating our imagination, butat the end of the day, they are
one of the greatest deceptionsused to pull people away from
Genesis and into evolutionarylies.
Why does this matter, as I loveto ask?
(09:55):
Well, the debate over dinosaursisn't just about bones, it's
about authority.
Will we trust God's word, whichconsistently speaks of dragons
and great beasts, or will wetrust men's theories, which are
built on fragments and fraudsand fabrications?
And as Christians, guys, wedon't need the dinosaur story to
(10:17):
make sense of creation.
We already have the truth Godcreated the heavens and the
earth and his word has neverchanged.
So I know it was a lot.
Got a couple reflectionquestions for you.
Have you ever considered thatdinosaurs might be a modern
invention?
Why do you think dragonaccounts are dismissed as myths
(10:40):
while dinosaurs are treated asfact?
And how can you help yourchildren recognize deception and
what they're taught aboutcreation?
Listen, friends, don't bedistracted by deception.
Listen, friends, don't bedistracted by deception.
Dinosaurs as we know them today, they, I believe, are a hoax,
but the bible has always beenconsistent.
(11:01):
Dragons were real, dragons are,are what the reference is here,
and that god is the creator andhis word will always stand.
Thank you for listening to thiscrazy episode today.

case might be, share with afriend, someone who might like

(11:24):
I'm going to close with Isaiah27.1.
In that day, the Lord willpunish with his sword, his
fierce, great and powerful sword.
Day, the Lord will punish withhis sword, his fierce, great and
powerful sword.
Leviathan the gliding serpent.
Leviathan the coiling serpent.
(11:44):
He will slay the monster of thesea.
