The headlines are noisy, but your body’s alarms are wiser. We dive into the growing debate around Tylenol, pregnancy, and autism—not to fan fear, but to restore discernment. I share why I stopped treating headaches like random lightning strikes, how acetaminophen actually works in the brain and liver, and what multiple studies suggest about prenatal exposure and neurodevelopmental risk. From there, we zoom out to the bigger toxic puzzle—ultra-processed foods, synthetic fragrances, chronic stress—and how these everyday inputs stack into symptoms we keep muting instead of decoding.

I pull back the curtain on why our system excels at managing crises yet often stumbles on prevention and root-cause care. We talk about the historical pivot that elevated patentable drugs while sidelining natural approaches, and why that still shapes what’s labeled “safe” or “unscientific.” This isn’t an anti-medicine rant. It’s an invitation to ask better questions, especially during pregnancy, when delicate signaling guides development. You’ll hear practical, low-risk alternatives for common discomforts: mineral-rich hydration, protein-stabilized blood sugar, removing fragrances, gentle movement, rest, and targeted nutrients with provider guidance.

Faith threads through the conversation as a compass for freedom over fear. If the body is designed with wisdom, symptoms are messages, not enemies. By tracking patterns, cleaning up inputs, and reserving meds for when they truly serve us, we trade reflex for stewardship. Ready to step off the pain-pill-repeat treadmill and listen to what your body is saying? Press play, share this with a friend who needs it, and tell us: which alarm are you finally ready to hear? Rebecca Twomey (00:32):
Hello and welcome back to the Radiant
Mission Podcast.
My name is Rebecca Twomey, andtoday we are continuing in our
health series on a topic that isblowing up right now: Tylenol,
pregnancy, and the link toautism.
If you have been watching theheadlines, you know that there

(00:55):
is a firestorm.
Trump and RFK Jr.
recently held a pressconference warning that Tylenol
use in pregnancy may be linkedto autism.
And predictably, the world hasgone crazy.
Some are mocking them, othersare getting angry.

(01:16):
And unbelievably, some womenare even bragging online that
they are taking Tylenol just tospite Trump and RFK Jr.
But here's the thing.
I have known about the dangersof Tylenol, acetametaphine, for

(01:40):
years.
There have been studies fordecades raising concerns about
Tylenol or acetamedaphine,especially during pregnancy.
And even if this particulardrug wasn't in the spotlight,
here's the bigger truth.
Most pharmaceuticals should beavoided during pregnancy.

(02:04):
I actually would like to startthis episode with a story.
I have someone in my life thatused to take acetamedophine
almost daily, if not daily.
And anytime that, you know, theday would progress, I would
hear comments like, I have aheadache.

(02:26):
And then they would reach foracetamedophine.
And the thing that stuck withme was this.
Yesterday they had a headachetoo, and the day before, and the
day before, and the day before.
And every day they were takingacetamedaphine for it.
And I was a lot younger then.

(02:48):
And I remember thinking, ifthis medicine actually worked,
then why is the headachereturning?
Why is this continuing tohappen?
Why is this person still inpain every single day?
And that's when it clicked forme.

(03:08):
And over the years hasprogressed into me being here on
this podcast talking abouthealth and these topics.
Drugs, and I'm going to usethis example, Tylenol or
acetametaphine wasn't curinganything, it was just covering

(03:29):
up the symptoms.
The headaches kept coming backbecause the root cause was still
there.
That was one of the first timesthat I really began to question
our culture of medicine.
Why do we keep repeating thesame cycle?
Pain, pill, repeat without everasking why the pain is

(03:54):
happening in the first place.
What is causing it?
And I don't want to speak downto anyone who is trying to find
the root cause because thesystem, quite honestly, isn't
set up for that either.
People do seek to try to findthe cause and are sent in
circles from one specialist toanother to another to another.

(04:16):
So today, my goal is to raiseawareness about this topic and
to talk about breaking thecycle.
So some of the things that Iwant to address in our episode
today is what acetamedophineactually does in your body, why

(04:36):
it's dangerous as a band-aidinstead of real healing.
I'll talk about those studiesthat show risks, especially for
growing babies in the womb.
Then I'll also get into howthis fits into the bigger toxic

puzzle (04:53):
vaccines, processed foods, and environment.
And most important of all, howGod's design offers freedom when
the system only offers bondage.
And as a reminder, I did do aseries a few years ago called
God's Design for Women's Bodiesand had a wonderful guest come

(05:18):
on for a few episodes named Dr.
Vaughn.
Please refer back to thoseepisodes.
I will link them in the shownotes so that you can check
those out as well.
But he specifically talkedabout getting to the root cause
and root cause medicine.
So while my focus is on Tylenoltoday, I do want to share that
and make sure that you have thatas a resource moving forward

(05:41):
because we have there aresolutions out there.
There are ways to get to theroot cause.
You just have to work with theright people.
All right.
That said, why do we reach forTylenol?
Most probably grab Tylenol fora headache or a muscle ache, a
fever, maybe cramps or jointaches.

(06:03):
It's really how we've beenprogrammed in our society that
the automatic response is ifthere is pain, then we take a
pill to cure that pain.
But rarely is there anopportunity to say, well, why do
I have this symptom?
Because it could be a plethoraof different things.

(06:24):
I think it's just easiest tosay, all right, let me grab this
pill.
Now I want to mention aheadache could be dehydration.
It could be lack of sleep.
It could be the food that yourbody doesn't tolerate.
Like I have discovered sincedoing AIP.

(06:45):
And interestingly, garlic andonions are triggers for me that
cause me to get a headache.
And those are actually on theapproved list of foods that are
yes foods on AIP.
Yet those bother my particularbody because of for whatever
reason, they just do.
And so knowing that gives mesome power, right?

(07:09):
Because I can decide and makethe decision to not eat those
foods.
Or I can say, all right, I'mgoing to get a headache if I put
onions on my pizza today.
Not that I'm eating pizzabecause I'm not eating pizza.
If I cook onions and eat themplain, that's more where I'm at
with uh AIP.
Another thing is syntheticfragrances in our environment,

(07:32):
like those plug-ins or sprays orperfumes or within our body
washes, soaps, all of that, those can also really impact us.
It could also just be stress orour hormones are imbalanced.
The point is really that painis a signal.
It is your body's alarm systemsaying something is wrong.

(07:58):
Pay attention.
But when it comes to takingTylenol, instead of addressing
the root cause, allacetametaphine is doing is
muting your alarm.
Now, before we continue, I wantto talk a little bit about how
Tylenol works, just so we canall get a baseline here for

(08:19):
understanding.
There's a lot of people thatexplain this way better than I
do, but I'm going to take a stabat it.
So Tylenol or acetametaphine,it works mainly in your brain.
It blocks enzymes that makeprostaglandins, the chemicals
that trigger pain and fever.
It also creates a toxicbyproduct called NAPQI that

(08:47):
stresses your liver and depletesglutathione, which is your
body's master antioxidant.
So over time, in high doses, this creates oxidative stress
and hormone disruption insideour bodies.
Now, I am the type of personthat likes to have things broken

(09:09):
down for me.
So that's the technical way ofdescribing what happens.
But here's how I would say thatTylenol works it doesn't fix
what's wrong.
All it really does is blockyour brain from sending pain
signals.
Think of it like this if yoursmoke alarm goes off in your

(09:30):
house, instead of putting outthe fire, you just rip the
batteries out of the smokealarm.
The fire is still raging.
You just can't hear the alarmanymore.
That's what Tylenol does.
Another way that you couldpicture it is it's like covering
up the check engine light inyour car with a piece of duct

(09:52):
tape.
The problem is still there, butyou've silenced the warning.
Hopefully that helps.
And that is how I have alwaysthought about it.
Whenever I've had a situationwhere I personally have had a
headache, Tylenol is not thething that I'm reaching to
because I go, all right, am Ireally, do I really want to

(10:12):
block my brain signals rightnow?
Do I really want to stop mybody from trying to heal what is
occurring inside of my body, especially when it comes to
fever?
And I have a whole episode onthat with Dr.
Vaughn.
Again, I will share a link tothat episode.
We did want specifically onfever and what to do instead of
reaching for acetamed rightaway.

(10:34):
But let's talk about theevidence of risk and what
science actually has shown aboutthis.
Because even though mainstreammedia likes to downplay this,
there are many studies raisingreal red flags.
And there are multiple studies.
So it's interesting to me thatthis is coming out now in 2025.

(10:57):
There is a 2019 John Hopkinsstudy that found babies with the
highest Tylenol levels inumbilical cords were two to
three times more likely to laterbe diagnosed with autism or
ADHD.
And that's huge.
That's not the only one.
There's a few more studies, soI'm going to mention those.

(11:17):
A 2018 review in the AmericanJournal of Epidemiology looked
at multiple large-scale studiesand found consistent
associations between Tylenol usein pregnancy and higher rates
of childhood behavioralproblems.
Researchers specifically warnedabout long-term use.
2021, international consensusstatement signed by 91

(11:41):
scientists, doctors, and publichealth experts urged caution
with the acetumedapin use duringpregnancy, citing evidence
linked to neurodevelopmentaldisorders like autism and ADHD.
When nearly 100 professionalsfrom around the world sound the
alarm, that's not something thatwe should be ignoring.

(12:02):
Just saying.
Then a 2022 Spanish cohortstudy followed thousands of
children and found that prenatalexposure to Tylenol was
associated with language delaysand attention problems by age
five.
Here's what really frustratesme.
These studies don't make theevening news.

(12:22):
Now they finally are, andpeople are discrediting it just
because of who is saying it.
And I don't care who is sayingit, but if one tiny, poorly
designed study came out tomorrowsaying Tylenol is completely
safe, then you can bet that itwould be blasted everywhere as
proof that everything is okay.
And that this tells ussomething.
The truth is being hiddenbecause there's too much money

(12:44):
on the line.
And yeah, great.
Trump and RFK are sounding thealarm.
And what does that say?
But you have to also look atthe context of what happened in
that announcement.
Trump said there are links tothis in autism while
simultaneously suggestinganother drug.

(13:06):
It's the drug part that we needto be leery of, you guys.
And I don't care who says this, let's pull the people out of
it.
We need to be moreconscientious of the pills that
we are willing to put inside ofour bodies.
Do we know that Tylenol is thesole cause of autism?
No.
But it is one piece of thetoxic puzzle.

(13:30):
Remember, it blocks brainsignals.
And if you are taking thiswhile you're pregnant and it's
crossing that placental barrier, and your baby who is developing
in your womb is supposed to begrowing and signals are getting
blocked, that is not a goodthing.
Now add in vaccines that areloaded with chemicals, process

(13:54):
foods that are stripped ofnutrition, and the toxins and
fragrances and food coloringsthat are in our environment and
food.
And it's no wonder that ourchildren are suffering like
never before.
This is where I want to shiftbecause yes, Tylenol, not good,
but there's a lot of not goodstuff.

(14:15):
And we need to really questionmore.
The system is broken.
And it started withRockefeller.
And I did an episode on thattoo.
Again, show notes, show notes, because I have links.
This is the part that reallymatters.
The system is not designed toheal us.
Only God is.

(14:36):
The system was designed to keepyou dependent on it.
Medications manage symptoms, they do not cure diseases.
And behind the whole system isprofit.
Open the curtain, it's money.
The more sick people there are,the more money flows into

(14:58):
pharmaceuticals.
And that is why, yes, sound thealarm.
It's either benefit, not good, but oh, here's another drug.
They're just take one out, insert another one.
And again, let's let's get intoRockefeller.
I talked about this in episode43 of the podcast and how he
transformed medicine in America, not for the good.

(15:18):
But here is a quick refresher.
In the early 1900s, Rockefellerwas an oil tycoon.
He figured out that petroleumcould be used not just for fuel,
but also to create syntheticdrugs.
He funded medical schools, hereshaped the entire system to
push pharmaceuticals as theanswer to sickness while

(15:40):
labeling natural remedies asunscientific and quackery.
Herbal medicine, homeopathy, natural healing, all of it was
pushed aside.
Why?
Because it couldn't bepatented, it didn't make money.
But synthetic petroleum-baseddrugs, those could be sold

(16:02):
forever.
So fast forward to today.
This is the system that we arestill living in.
And it has grown more than eversince then.
This is why Tylenol isconsidered safe, even when
evidence says otherwise.
It's why an herb or a naturalsupplement is treated as risky,

(16:24):
and we don't know.
There haven't been any studieson lemon balm or whatever herb
there might be.
While synthetic chemical ishanded out like candy to people.
And this is the fruit ofRockefeller's influence.
Medicine became an industry, not a ministry.
Healing became about revenue,not restoration.

(16:48):
And that's why we're sittinghere in 2025 with rising autism
rates, chronic diseaseeverywhere, and a population
that's hooked on drugs that werenever designed to cure.
Now, let's zoom out even morebecause this isn't just bad
policy.
It's not just greedycorporations.

(17:12):
This is spiritual warfare.
Ephesians 6.12 reminds us thatwe don't wrestle against flesh
and blood, but against rulers, authorities, and the powers of
darkness.
From the beginning, God gave useverything that we need.
In Genesis 129, it says, I'vegiven you every seed-bearing

(17:37):
plant and every tree with fruit, they will be your food, real
food, herbs, sunlight, water,rest.
But what do we see today?
I learned this more than everon this protocol that I'm doing.
Counterfeits, synthetic food,synthetic drugs, artificial

(18:00):
everything.
And this isn't just humanerror, this is deception right
in front of us.
Just like in Genesis 6, whenthe Nephilim and the fallen
angels brought forbiddenknowledge, that corrupted
humanity, we see that sameinfluence today.
The enemy wants peopleenslaved.
A healthy, free, discerningpeople are hard to control.

(18:25):
But a sick, dependent,exhausted people, they're easy
to manipulate.
That's why choosing God'sdesign for health isn't just a
wellness choice, it is an act ofspiritual warfare.
So this is a lot, I know.

(18:45):
But there are ways out andthere are practical steps that
you can take.
And of course, I have to caveatwith I'm not a doctor, and you
can come for me if you want.
But I'm just giving youbiblical advice.
That's it.
That's what I'm here to sharewith you.
The medical system as we knowit today is fairly new.

(19:10):
And doctors and pharmacists andscientists that create drugs,
they are not God.
So what can we do instead ofreaching for Tylenol every time?
Well, start by listening toyour body.
Track your symptoms and lookfor patterns.

(19:30):
Ask what is the root?
Pay attention to yoursurroundings.
What is plugged in around you?
What do you use that hasfragrances in it?
What do you wash your laundryin?
What do you wash your disheswith?
What do you eat?
What is in the food that youeat?
Look at everything.

(19:52):
And of course, hydrate.
Many headaches are going todisappear with water and
minerals.
I personally drink water withCeltic sea salt.
A little bit in there.
It doesn't have to taste likethe ocean, by the way.
Just a little bit will help tofuel your cells when you drink

(20:13):
water.
Now, another thing about water,I don't subscribe to the you
need to drink gallons of water aday.
I personally drink too thirst.
And that's just me personally.
The next is to nourish yourbody.
And this is likely the mostimportant thing.
And this is something that I amlearning right now.

(20:33):
I'm in the middle of learningthis.
Real food and wholeingredients, God's provision,
not processed junk, is the mottothat I am focused on.
So I mentioned that I amcurrently doing AIP that stands
for the autoimmune protocol.
It is essentially fruits, vegetables, and meat with some

(20:58):
limitations to certainvegetables and fruits that
maybe, like, for example, nightshades are not something
that I can eat right now.
I can have salt and I can havesome herbs, but I cannot have
all spices.
And there is a reason for it.
It is because I have strippedmy diet down to the very basics
on things that we know cause theleast amount of inflammation in

(21:21):
the body that are least likelyto trigger a response from my
body.
And the purpose for doing thisis to help heal.
I may have mentioned, I thinkit was last episode, that I
found out that I actually haveactive Epstein bar, which is
mono.
And after taking a blood testfor that, we discovered it's

(21:41):
actually chronic Epstein bar, which interestingly, if you've
been listening to the show for awhile, my sister struggled with
for a period of time, or stillstruggles with, I guess I could
say, where it comes back fromcertain triggers.
Of course, stress can be atrigger and certain foods can be
a trigger.
And so as soon as I found thisout, I'm like, I am going to
strip everything down to thebasics and figure out how my

(22:05):
body works, what fuels it, whatfeeds it.
If you listen to the episodetitled When God Speaks in the
McDonald's drive-thru, that'swhere it started.
And so now I've been doing thisfor a month and a half, two
months now.
And it's interesting because inthe beginning, I used to say to

(22:25):
my husband, like, oh, I'm goingto eat this.
You guys get to eat real food.
And then I realized it wasactually backwards.
I was the one eating real food.
And they were still eatingprocessed food.
And you know what's beautifulabout this whole thing is over
time, progressively, my husbandand my children's diet are also

(22:46):
improving and changing.
And my daughter loves avocado, for example.
And she will eat chicken, fruit, and avocado as a meal.
And if I would have put this infront of her a year ago, she
would have said, I want mac andcheese.
So I want to encourage you alsothat you can change at any

(23:08):
time.
And it's not necessarily, itdoesn't necessarily mean there's
going to be overnight, butsmall changes will add up over
time.
So anyway, nourish yourselfwith real food.
The next is support detox.
Gentle support for your body, like herbal teas and rest, and

(23:28):
even sweating, working out, getting a good walk on.
That is going to help.
And then last, but this is notleast, should have been first,
is pray.
Ask God to reveal what yourbody needs.
What does your specific bodyneed to thrive?
And listen, medicines may havetheir place in an emergency or

(23:48):
in emergency situations, butthey really should not be our
foundation.
They shouldn't be what we turnto immediately anytime something
happens.
Because we have it inside ofus.
Our bodies are self-healing.
God created them that way.
He created us to heal.
All we have to do is seek hisguidance to figure out how it

(24:11):
works.
And listen, you guys, you guyshave seen me go through the
process of figuring out howbirth works.
Anyone can do that, and anyonecan figure out how their health
works as well.
Now, in the coffee talk series,I was doing reflection
questions, and I know we're in anew series now, but I kind of
like that because it leaves uswith something to really

(24:32):
consider as we come out of this.
Hopefully, you learned a littlebit, something new about
Tylenol and how it works and ourbodies.
But if you didn't hearsomething to ponder on, have I
been silencing my body's alarmsinstead of listening to them?
Where am I relying on syntheticsolutions instead of God's
provision?
And last, how might my healthchoices be part of the spiritual

(24:57):
battle for truth and freedom?
And listen, just like the otherconversations, this is not
about fear.
This is about freedom.
Jesus said in John 8, 32, youwill know the truth and the
truth will set you free.
And this applies to our healthtoo.
Thank you so much for listeningto today's episode.
Please share this with a friendif this was helpful to you.

(25:41):
3.

who forgives all youriniquities, who heals all your
diseases.
Wishing you a radiant week, andI'll see you next time.
