According to classicist Debbie Felton, these villains “all spoke to men’s fear of women’s destructive potential. The myths then, to a certain extent, fulfill a male fantasy of conquering and controlling the female.” Sounds about right...
So we are here today to breakdown the bedtime stories the patriarchy tells itself, expose the expectations placed on women and share some of the modern re-imagining of some of the Western worlds most monstrous women.
