In this episode we explore a slice of history about the world's oldest profession in Georgian and Victorian England (1700's and 1800's) - the Harlot. The topic was inspired was inspired by the Hulu show Harlots, which is a period drama female created and produced show focusing on Margaret Wells, who runs a brothel in 18th-century London and struggles to secure a better future for her daughters.
The opening sequence of Harlot tells us that at that time in London, 1 in 5 women made their living selling sex. And with sex work being very much integrated into much of society, it played a huge impact on the lives of women. Join us to learn more about the life of the Harlot.
