Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, snap, snap.
Well, hello raw feeders.
I'm Deedee Mercer-Moffitt, ceoof a raw dog food and company
where your pet's health is ourbusiness and we're friends.
Like my friend, dr Judy JasikAin't letting nobody feed kibble
now, is ya?
Nope, nobody.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Nobody, not the
un-kibble, or the raw bulls, or
the perfect kibbles, or none ofthem.
I mean, the marketing they useis just incredible, you know,
and people you know fall for it.
Well, it's a good kibble though, ain't no such thing.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Ain't no such thing.
I've been looking for a gooddonut I really had Dr Chasick,
but it ain't there.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
I'm trying to find it
.
They might taste good, butthey're not good right, right,
right, you know it's reallyfunny.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Uh, the things that
get in people's heads, um, and
here's, here's what I mean bythat.
So, um, when we had a review, one of our customers and
sometimes I, you know, obviouslyI see the reviews when they
come up and they've been acustomer for since 2022, so
(01:10):
about three years but they havefed a boneless blend, okay, for
a very long time and the sameblend for a very long time, so a
boneless beef and the commentwas this um, and I let these
reviews stand, because they'rereviews and they need to stand,
(01:32):
but they the, the poops aren'tsolid, but my dog strains to
(01:52):
poop.
Now you and I can look at thatand say that's the, the
reasoning behind that's prettyobvious One.
You gotta have bone in the diet.
Now, in the review, they alsostated that, that that dog
should not have bone in everymeal.
(02:13):
Because they've done extensiveresearch and I understand what
they're reading because we'veseen it right, the right, the,
the customers get it in theirmind that.
And there was a big brouhahaabout beef bone in general, dr
Jasek, where there was a lot oftalk out there on social media
(02:35):
and probably from some of theother companies that don't grind
bone, that dogs were not ableto digest real raw beef bones
and therefore should not havebone in their diet every day.
Now I'm going to greatlydisagree with that.
(02:56):
One, because I haven't seenthat in my experience.
Two, I have definitely seen thedogs who don't get enough bone
in their diet not look as good, not have those vitamins and
minerals, not have a completediet, um.
And three, the quality.
(03:18):
I'm not sure what that means.
The quality has changed becauseI haven't done any rotation in
the diet, I've not done turkeyduck pork and I've not done any
bone, so I just wanted to.
I don't mind bad reviews ifthey're warranted, right, but I
don't think that you can come toa conclusion although they do.
(03:42):
Conclusion, although they dothat the food is the thing that
has lost quality, when in factyou're just not feeding
everything you need to feed thedog is deficient in nutrients.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
The dog is
malnourished in some ways
because they not balancing.
You can't feed a diet like that.
I mean it's the boneless blendsare deficient in minerals, you
know from from the get go.
So you have to be compensatingfor that.
And if you're not rotating araw diet it's not going to be
nutritionally complete.
(04:21):
And we go over this with peopleand over it with people.
And because we tell people wedon't want you to do synthetics
and that you know we discouragepeople from, you know, trying to
balance the diet with produce.
Little produce is okay in thefood but people use that as well
(04:41):
.
I'm adding vegetables in.
So that's what's balancing thediet.
And this is where we alwayshighly discourage people from
trying to make their own food athome because they do like
hamburger or rice and veggies orsomething like that and that's
a balanced meal.
The veggies don't balance it.
You have to do the meat, boneand organ organ and you have to
(05:02):
rotate.
One protein is not a complete, even if it has the bone in it,
it's not complete.
And if you add in synthetics, who knows how bioavailable those
are, you know.
So we don't recommend that youhave to do the rotation.
But I tell you I don't know whypeople I don't know why people
don't, don't follow us.
(05:23):
I mean, I see this in otherthings that I recommend, other
therapies, like we, you know, give people like, like we do
things like these mistletoeinjections and we'll say, here's
your schedule, here's where youstart, here's where you
increase, and then they'll sendin a refill order and they've
never increased it and wehaven't heard from them.
So are they afraid?
I mean, I don't.
(05:43):
Why do people come in and wantinformation and then not, you
know, not follow through?
Why do people want their pet onoptimal diet and then they
don't follow through?
With the intro?
You have all the information onyour website, you know, I don't
know, don't know.
Humans are a mystery to me.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
They are so, so
mysterious mystery to me.
They are so, so mysterious, butthe thing about it is is that
it's doubly hard when you wantto come back and respond.
Right, because it doesn'tmatter how I respond, it doesn't
matter how our customer careteam responds, it is going to
(06:21):
not make them happy, right?
Because what makes people happyis yes, you're absolutely right
.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yep, they want you to
agree with them, yep.
But they've already decided andthey just want your blessing
that they are correct.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
And I'm going to tell
you, listeners, that if you
feed the exact same thing, whether it's turkey duck beef
pork, for three years straight, your dog won't be as healthy as
a dog who gets beef duck, turkeypork, raw meaty bones, duck
(06:58):
feet, duck heads a variety.
What does well-balanced guys?
It means over the lifetime, over the month, over the week,
and there's no way that that'sgoing to be obtained if you are
feeding the exact same thing andI I have one other customer
(07:19):
that the dog has stopped eating.
Right, stopped eating.
Why?
Again, this is a blend withbone in it.
No-transcript, over five years.
(07:39):
Look, I'm not going to eatanything for over a week
probably.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
I'm not going to eat
the same thing, exact same thing
, every meal.
Now, you know there's somethings I might do every day,
Like I like my coffee in themorning, and you know there's
some some things that mightchange that up too, though.
You drink different coffees.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah, sometimes I'll
do the kona blend, some days
I'll do the this blend and, youknow, after I go through a bag
or something like that, becauseI get tired of the same taste
that's true, I do that too.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Sometimes I add some
mushrooms and I like a little
chaga sometimes in my coffee.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
So there you go.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Yeah, but yeah, it
would get really boring.
And dogs are natural scavengers.
That's their nature is to goout and eat whatever they can
find in nature.
So that's why they they alwaysget their noses to the ground
picking up stuff.
So it's their, that's theirnature and they don't.
You know they don't have achoice.
They don't go to the store andsay and I'm really tired of
eating beef, could maybe I'mgonna try some turkey tonight?
(08:37):
You know they just have to eatwhatever is in the bowl and then
.
But then people say there'ssomething wrong with the food,
because they all of a suddenstop eating.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
That's exactly what
they say, and I will even say
let me send you somethingdifferent, you bring me back,
that we'll get you somethingdifferent.
And even sometimes people arelike no, my dog can only eat
this one.
Why?
Because five years ago I did astupid allergy test and my dog
can only eat this one.
(09:04):
Why?
Because five years ago I did astupid allergy test and my dog
can only eat this.
Okay, well, no, no, no, no.
But.
But this is where we are doing amajor disservice to our animals
, because we get something inour head and and and we can't
let go of it.
And then there's other peoplethat will really work with you.
(09:27):
For instance, new customerJeremy Shepard, out here, met
him, had my shirt on, I think, and Lazi looks so good that
people are always asking aboutLazi, you know, and he was
anyway.
He ended up ordering food andhe texts me and he says my dog
(09:48):
won't eat it at all.
Now, you and I have been doingthis a long time.
I said how much kibble doesyour dog eat?
Well, he, you know.
Basically, that is a sign to usthat this animal is addicted to
taste enhancers, to high sugarydiets, even if they're diets
(10:12):
that are high on the on theproduce side, right, because
that turns into sugar.
So I said look here, here is iswhat I see Right, and here's
how you can break a sugaraddiction.
Some things people like, somethey don't.
They don't like the fasting, even though if you understood
(10:34):
how fasting works, I think youwould do it.
But anyway, I, I don't push.
I just said hey, here, here'swhat you can do.
Now this particular pet parentsaid I don't push.
I just said hey, here's whatyou can do.
Now this particular pet parentsaid I don't want my dog
addicted, I'm going to keeptrying.
I said okay.
So I hadn't talked to him for aweek and right as we got on the
(10:56):
podcast, I saw a text that camein and he had some other.
So he got rid of the kibble.
He had some substandard raw wasit was a commercial raw and he
said he mixed the commercial rawwith the pure raw that we sell
and he said he ate the pure rawand didn't eat, you know, and
(11:19):
pushed away the substandard raw.
So I was like good for you.
So see, this pet parent did keepgoing.
Why?
Because he loves this dog andhe evidently thought that, you
know, I didn't have my head upmy sphincter and that maybe I
might know a few things.
Maybe it was my approach, Idon't know.
I just said here's what I seeand I think, because you and I
(11:44):
have been doing it so long thatwe don't have to get tons and
tons of information, we prettymuch know from the symptoms and
kind of what's going on.
Right, it's not like I'm apsychic.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
When we first moved
into this house we had these two
outdoor cats that the peoplewho bought the house from gave
away the neighbors across thestreet.
Well, they came right back assoon as somebody else showed up
here and I'm like, oh, hi guys, okay, how would you like some
raw food?
And these cats are outside sothey're like catching mice and
birds and stuff and they the oneshowed up first and then like a
(12:18):
couple days later, the otherone showed up and the first one
showed up and I just put someraw food like this is what you
get fed and he literally wouldnot eat it, sniffed it and
walked away.
I said, all right, I guessyou're gonna go catch mice,
because I ain't feeding a kibble.
I I mean, the people across thestreet have a big horse barn
and they got lots of cats, so Ifigured they probably just got a
big bowl of kibble out.
There is what they're feedingthem.
And I'm like, dude, there's nokibble here, so eat that, or not
(12:42):
and it took a few days.
And then he'd like kind of takea bite and like I don't know
what this stuff is, you know theother cat showed up and he, I
think, was a little leery of it,but he he got into a meal or
two.
Now they're like as soon as theysee me walk into the kitchen in
the morning they are at thatkitchen door mowing Like they
(13:04):
can.
I mean they act like theyhaven't eaten in weeks.
You know now they, now theylove it.
But I'm just like sorry, goacross the street and get your
kibble fix.
But you're here you know, buthe wouldn't touch it.
He would not.
And these were outdoor cats.
They're already eating meat andstuff, they're hunting and
stuff, but he's like I don'tknow what this stuff is.
I want my sugar fix, I want mydonuts.
(13:25):
I'm like, sorry, no donuts here.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Well, and this sweet
pepper, he had said to me well,
I'm feeding kibble and a raw.
And I said, is it pure raw?
Because your dog just may notknow what to do with food.
That is more like it's hunting, right, because it has gotten so
used to the taste enhancers, tothe things that are put in
(13:52):
there for that first taste test.
And he said, oh yeah, it's pureraw.
He snapped a photo of theingredients and I said, okay, no
, that that.
Look at my ingredient list andlook at that one.
Okay, that's all synthetic.
And do you see, it's got beetsand it's got peas and it's got
carrots and it's got this andit's got.
I said that's, that's a wholelot of plant protein, not much
(14:17):
real protein and all that otherstuff that you see, those are
all synthetics.
That, my friend, is not pureraw.
So that it was just.
It was funny because.
But it's just again, like wesaid, marketing, you could
market shoe leather as long asyou, you know, said the right
(14:39):
thing, Right the rightadvertising yeah, Right right.
But we, if you are seeing, okay,a decline in your dog's coat,
if you're seeing a decline intheir energy, in their eyes, in
their teeth, we can help you.
Right, it's not like we haven'tseen that before, but what we
(15:04):
you right, it's not like wehaven't seen that before.
But what we want to look at iswhat is your rotation right?
Are you doing real fish?
Are you doing extra things likeduck heads and duck feet and
this, and that I know people arelike I don't really want to do
that, but we can help you.
It's typically a tweak, right,it's typically a tweak.
(15:25):
And then I will say this onelast thing Lazi is six years old
.
She had her second bath in herlife just the other day, and I
will say that after she had abath, she even was shinier than
(15:45):
before.
She looked amazing.
Why?
Because sometimes you know youjust got to get that dead hair
out of there and she getsbrushed a lot too.
But I will say this that overover, giving dogs baths will
take all of that oil out.
Yeah, but I will also say nevergiving your dog a bath will
probably not be a good thingeither.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
So I think brushing
is really important too because
it stimulates.
You know for people that dogs Icould kind of chronically itchy.
That's one of the things I askthem are you, are you brushing
them?
Because bathing can definitelylike over dry the skin and if
people are using likechlorinated water and stuff like
that can be irritating to theskin.
But the brushing it gets outlike the dead hair but also just
(16:31):
stimulates the skin.
It's like a little skin massageand it brings like the
circulation back up to the skinand I think it's just really
good for the skin.
Even if it's a short coated dogand they don't look like they
need to be brushed, just a softbrush just stimulating that coat
in that skin.
I think that really helps withskin.
It helps stimulate the oilglands and stuff.
(16:51):
I really think it helps keepthe skin and coat healthier.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Yeah, oh, lazi's
almost looking like a
Quinceantilla.
You know the hairless, thosehairless dogs, because she just
get it's hot here and she'sgetting rid of her hair.
She's like get it off me.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
So it's going to be
miserable to be in.
How hot is it down there?
Speaker 1 (17:11):
You know, right now
we're only probably sitting
around the 100s, but this weekwe're going back up to the 108s,
but it, you know, it was 115.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Last week.
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
Holy smokes I'd be,
losing my hair too.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Right, I can't take
off enough clothes.
