Hurricane Helene was not supposed to happen…in western North Carolina. The flooding and devastation inflicted there are beyond anything recorded in the area’s history, and almost everyone was unprepared for it’s long-reaching impact, with no water, power, or food, and in many cases being cut off from outside help.
