“Be a homie & let us know what you think”

The latest tariffs imposed by the US government will significantly impact physical merchandise shipped to American customers through Bandcamp, potentially causing higher fees and shipping delays for independent artists and their fans. Digital purchases remain unaffected and offer a practical way for supporters to continue backing their favorite artists during this challenging period.

• Bandcamp sent an email notification about new US tariffs affecting international merchandise shipments
• Some international postal carriers are temporarily suspending deliveries to the US
• Fans can still support artists by purchasing digital music instead of physical merchandise
• Bandcamp Fridays (when 100% of revenue goes to artists) remain an excellent support opportunity
• Recent podcast episodes featured Kershawn Tha Don with Naj Ahead and Dom Cruz with TEEDOTEINSOF
• More episodes are currently in production with exciting guests
• New feature allows listeners to text feedback through the "Be a Homie" link
• Podcast is best experienced on YouTube or Buzzsprout due to Spotify's music restrictions

Make sure, if you make music, you share your music. Don't be scared to share it. It does nobody any good if you just keep it on the hard drive. Let the people hear what you're creating.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Welcome to the Wreck Show podcast, a show dedicated
to beatmakers around the world.
Kick back, relax with the.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Maven.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Party the evening.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
How much more do you want from me?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
More.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
How much more successful?
Do you want me to be Moresuccessful?
How?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
many records.
Can my records break?
More records.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
But, but I'm the best , alright, what's good.
Everybody, gold Demine here.
Welcome back for anotherepisode.
This will be a quick one forthe Rec Show podcast, man, thank
you all for tuning in, but Ijust wanted to talk about this,

(01:27):
these tariffs and what Bandcampsent out.
Man, they just sent out a, uh,an email to everybody that's,
you know, signed up for bandcamp, which is a digital music store
.
If y'all didn't know, um, I'm abig proponent of, you know,
buying off of websites andbuying off of, uh, buying off of
bandcamp as well, because themusic goes, majority of the time
, directly to the artists andthey, they have, uh, you know,
every like quarter, um, theyhave, like a bandcamp friday

(01:52):
which gives 100 of the revenueto the artist directly.
They don't bank in, collects nofees and stuff like that.
So, um, I really just wanted totalk about this while I'm on my
way back from work.
I'm about to be driving home, but let me see if I can get an
episode out while I'm drivingthis motorcycle, man.
So, yeah, so while I'm driving, man, I just want to talk about

(02:17):
it.
Man, you know, bandcamp is goodat letting everybody know what's
coming up and stuff that'shappening and things like that.
So shout out to band camp man, everybody, the people that run
band camp.
Um, I really let me just put myvisor in here about to get hot

(02:40):
in here, heart Hot in here.
But yeah, they sent the emailout about the tariffs that's
going to have.
You know, imposed by, it says agovernment.
It says a government.
It don't say what government, but everybody knows, you know

(03:00):
it's the US.
You know what I'm saying isimposing tariffs on merchandise
from other countries.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
All right, here's what the images say.
The first part is basically onnotice about US tariffs on
merchandise orders.
It says that significantchanges are coming.
Those tariff changes might meanfees on some merchandise being
shipped to the US, and someBandcamp sellers might even
temporarily pause shipments.
Plus, some international postalcarriers are temporarily
suspending deliveries to the USas well.

(03:31):
In short, if shipments arepaused, you can still support
artists by buying digital music, and if you need more info,
there's a help center you cancheck out.
So that's the full gist.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
So what does that mean?

Speaker 3 (03:44):
In a nutshell, it means that because of these new
tariffs, some physical merchshipments to the US might get
hit with extra fees or eventemporary pauses.
For artists on Bandcamp thatmeans there could be a bit of a
hiccup with getting physicalmerch to fans in the US for a
while, but the practicalworkaround is pretty
straightforward Artists canencourage fans to support them
by purchasing digital musicinstead.
That way the music keepsflowing and the support stays

(04:07):
steady, even if physicalshipments have a temporary
roadblock.
So it's a pretty practicalpivot.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Can't overlook it, man.
You can't even say you knowwhat.
I'm going to accept all ofthese fees because they're going
to be high and they're globally.
So the is imposing these onglobal tariffs, all right.
So, um, man, it um let me tellyou something.

(04:34):
There it will throw a wrench in, but you know it's okay, man.
You know it's like, it's likewith anything, man, you got to
adjust Until, you know, everybody plays ball again and

(05:00):
everybody, you know kumbaya andall that type of stuff.
But I don't know, I don't knowwhat it's going to do.
But what the letter says and I'mjust summarizing, man, I'll put
what Pan Camp in thedescription, what they put in
the email that got sent to uswhat it actually says is you

(05:23):
know, due to the US, due to theterrorists being imposed by
government we, you know, there'sgoing to be higher fees for
people that are sellingmerchandise, you know, physical
merchandise, cds, vinyl, cassettes, anything else that
you can find on our, on bandcamp, and so, um, it also just

(05:46):
says you know, there's nothingthat they can really do about it
, because it's a governmentimposing it.
It's not bank camp imposingthese tariffs and these higher
fees on bank can't be there, um,which is true.
So, um, you know to summarizeit, they basically are talking
about.
You know you can, yes, whileyou know to summarize it, they
basically are talking about.
You know you can, yes, whileyou know there's going to be

(06:09):
higher fees and stuff like that.
If you can, on Bandcamp, youcan always just support digital,

(06:30):
buy the digital album.
I know it may not be, you know, make that big of a deal to the
artists, but I mean, somethingis better than nothing until we
figure out a way around what'sgoing on.
You know I'm saying so.
And then you can also supporton Bandcamp Fridays as well.

(06:55):
So you know it's just.
You know I know it throw.
You know we, everybody was.
You know Bandcamp, band camp isthe way to go, or your website
is the way to go.
Um, and then boom, then the us,us government, ah, you know,

(07:20):
does something like this.
You know, you know it mighthave been necessary.
If you know anything, you'vebeen keeping up with what
tariffs actually mean.
It's you know it's been a longtime coming.
I guess you know, if you knowwhat tariffs are, you know what
they mean for businesses.

(07:40):
But, man, at the same time wegot a economic issue happening
right now and you know like it'scraziness.
It's craziness, man.
People are having a hard timeeven keeping up with paying
their bills and you know payingfor the necessities in life.

(08:04):
If you're an American citizen, you know, and that may be around
the world.
I'm not around the world, but Iknow things are costing a lot
more than they used to.
So you know, but, man, I justwanted to hop on and talk to you
all about it, man, um, you know, I think it just might be

(08:28):
digital, it just might be adigital world, man and um, for
music for a little bit.
You know, unless you live inthat specific country, that
where you can get it, where youcan get that specific item that
you want that merch, that youwant.
Yeah, yeah, that's it, man.
But I did want to let y'allknow, man, I'm paying attention

(08:50):
to Bandcamp.
I know y'all got albums out.
I think I'm about to put.
I'm putting on together likethree more episodes right now
with some amazing people.
So y'all stay tuned.
Y'all stay tuned, man.
It's about to be on the top man.

(09:12):
Yeah, we got some amazing peopleabout to stop by the Red Show
Podcast and talk about theiralbums and I got another episode
, maybe two more episodes, ofbeast your minerals happening.
I've got another, uh, twoepisodes of the rec show podcast

(09:34):
.
Uh, the first timer that, uh,the homie put me on to man.
So I ain't gonna say, I ain'tgonna tell you we're home,
because then you're gonna startdigging.
But, yeah, I want y'all to justpay attention to the retro
podcast and, um, yeah, I'm gonnakeep y'all, keep y'all informed

(09:56):
and let it do what it do.
You know, I hope this is nottoo bad of audio to where y'all
can actually understand what I'msaying, trying to speak as
clearly as possible possiblewhile while driving you know, so
they probably like yo.
What's all that weird noise?

Speaker 1 (10:17):
I'm in a helmet that is not a showy, not not one of
the quietest helmets out thereon the market I go to the studio
every day, like literally, likeall the traveling that you've
seen by everybody that I knowthat's on the stage and whatever

(10:38):
we're always cooking up on thedamn faces and going and really
perfecting our craft.
So I think that if you don'tstay in the gym, you don't keep
shooting, you're going to miss alot of shots and you've always
got to really figure out thatit's not about what's going to
happen in the short-term process, but what's really going to
happen when you actually lookback at all the work that you

(10:58):
put in.
What did it mean, what did itmean for yourself?
That you give up on yourself, and that's something you should
never do.
So stay focused and fuckeverybody.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
What's up, what's up but uh, you know, as I get some

(11:35):
more support and you know, saveup for another helmet, then I'll
be able to talk to y'all incrystal clear audio.
You feel me?
Crystal clear audio, man.
So it's what it is.
Right now, man, I'm out here inseguin, I think, close to
seguin, um man farm country, man, I think I think this is where

(11:56):
I'm supposed to be, at man farmcountry.
I'm looking at horses right now, just chilling Horses, just
chilling farmland out here.
You know they building it upright now, but you know, with
anything, everything gets builtup and you know things get
bigger and better.
People need places to live, stuff like that.

(12:17):
But anyway, I'm going on atangent.
But, yeah, shout out to thehomies putting out amazing music
, tapping in with the red showpodcast as well.
Um, I appreciate every singleone of y'all sharing you know
what we do and, uh, gettingother people to tap into what we
do at the red show podcast.

(12:40):
I'm trying.
I'm a one-man shop so I'mtrying to do my best to.
You know, send out theinvitations, set up the zoom
meetings, have the.
You know, do the research forthe interview.
Um, conduct the interview.
You know, edit the, edit theepisode, type out the

(13:02):
description.
You know, edit the episode, type out the description.
You know.
And you know, get it ready forsocial media for everybody to
tap in and be on the lookout forit.
And, um, you know, postingabout this specific episode.

(13:29):
You know we just came out withepisode 128 with kershawn the
don and, uh, that long beach, california's finest.
You know I'm saying um, she andthen nausea here, stopped by on
that episode.
So that was dope man.
It was a quick one.
I got so many more questions Icould have asked her.

(13:50):
But you know we were under sometime constraints but we're
going to run it back.
Don't y'all worry about it,we're going to run it back soon.
And then 127, it was with thehomie Dom Cruz and the homie
TINSOF.
We were talking about theiralbum, a Happy Om Om.

(14:14):
Y'all get it.
Yeah.
So that was a dope conversationand yeah, it's more to come,
more to come.
Man, y'all, stay tuned, staytapped in, stay locked in.
I know I probably lost a lot ofpeople on Spotify because
Spotify, you know, did somechanges to how they run business

(14:38):
and I guess my podcast had moremusic than talking.
But my podcast is, uh, you know, a podcast about beat makers
man.
So beat makers, music producersand composers, so of course

(14:58):
we're gonna play music.
Man, like what you want me?
I told man, like what you wantme to do?
I told her.
I said, yo, what you want me todo, like that's what my podcast
is about.
You want me to just talk infront of a microphone and not

how they conduct business inorder for them to, you know,

(15:44):

But I ain't gotta keepsupporting it, so that's what

(16:47):
That, uh, I do, man.
So, yeah, that's a new featurethat buzzsprout put out.
That's pretty dope, man, that'spretty dope.
So you know, you know.
