In the latest episode of The Recovery Circle, we welcome Anthony B. to share his story. As the youngest child in his family, Anthony struggled to fit in with his older brothers while his parents were often busy with work. From ages 7 to 12, he battled an unknown illness that kept him frequently in doctors’ offices, worrying about his future.
Despite his talents in classical piano, baseball, and wrestling, Anthony was drawn to the allure of hanging out with peers who drank and used drugs. His first arrest came at 16, and over the years, he faced 14 arrests, including 4 DUIs. By 19, he had mved on to harder drugs, and his insecurities led to troubled relationships. His addiction drove him to steal from friends and family, leaving him homeless multiple times.
Anthony’s turning point came when the pain became unbearable. He found hope in a recovery center and a 12-step program, where he learned a new way to live. Recently, Anthony celebrated 5 years clean and sober. His journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the possibility of transformation.
